      I've been playing the game since 2003. I still use the wiki. I don't use it really for meta but more of a resource. I'm old I can't remember every single obscure thing about the game. Use the wiki just don't become dependent is the best tip I can give people. I watch guides here and there but it's usually for some small piece of info that only someone who lives in this game would know or find. The guides for the most part are usually useless and your better off just playing the game.

    I'm glad you made the point about bonds. In my clan chat I've seen people imply that it's bad to spend any real money on the game, even for membership. It's like they have something to prove by playing members for "free." Personally I do not have time to do grinds just for members, and I also don't think it's actually free if you have to earn an extra 10mil+ every couple weeks. Personally, I bonded a few key construction levels and do not feel any type of way about it. But we all play how we like :)

    About the skilling outfits:
    I recommend the construction one.
    2.5% bonus xp means 2.5% less gp spent
    I went for it before the maxing grind, and it's not a waste of time, since you also get good xp for good xp in the path towards it

    • @Gold3nblu3
      @Gold3nblu3 11 місяців тому +5

      It's not worth it. The 2.5% boost does not work on the Mahogany Homes contract completion bonuses, only on the items you build, so its barely an extra XP. If cost is the prohibitive part of training Construction you should spend the points on the reward crates and sell them on the GE, will make you way more money back than the outfit.

    Something you touched on that I think more people need to hear is that burnout is the worst xp waste. Setting a goal and grinding for it is great but it’s also important to learn that it’s okay to take a break from it and do something you enjoy to avoid burnout. I still have a habit of trying to lock myself to a grind and I have to take a step back to remember the time I burnt out doing a thousand CG for the bowfa. I’d rather take a break from an activity and come back than burn out again.

  • @stevensytha8903
    @stevensytha8903 11 місяців тому +2

    I make this mistake, despite being aware of it. I still hyper fixate on a grind and burn myself out doing so. Every year I would do a massive quest grind only to stop questing for a whole year. Another mistake I used to make was reselling gear to buy other gear for short term playing. Every time I buy gear, I ask myself if I will actually use it and use it enough to justify the purchase.

  • @Blue3lephant

    Just did the fishing trawler grind so I have to correct one thing. Games take 5 minutes yes, but there's a 1 minute wait between games. This means you can only do 10 games per hour, and roughly 5 hours for the set.

  • @itzTheChachi
    @itzTheChachi 11 місяців тому +2

    Rogues and Graceful outfits are truly worth it, everything else is extra from doing minigames. You might as well get them if you intend to 99 the skill and they're not that hard to get. You're not a bot, you're not gonna efficiently get to 99, that 2.5% helps when you're already spending so much time grinding. You can only spend so much time 2/3 tick skills to 99 before you want to blow your brains out. The outfits benefit people who afk grind more than anything.

    I'd say I made two large mistakes the first time I played.
    First, was trying to focus too much on the "optimal" way to level skills. Rather than trying the large variety of methods out there and finding what I enjoyed.
    The second was putting off quests in favor of grinding. Only to get stymied when some content I wanted to do was locked behind those quests I ignored, and that would have done a bunch of the leveling grind for me.

    Drop rates: I do herb runs. the expected value is ~9 herbs per patch.... I conditioned myself to say "That's not how probability works" when I got more or less than 9 herbs. ie, "Hell yeah! I got 96 herbs on 8 patches! I'm rich!" *that's not how probability works* "Damn, 3 herbs died & this game sucks!" *that's not who probability works*

    My biggest mistake is trying to learn every single boss mechanic and their attacks first without just trying to the boss out with slight knowledge then going back and learning everything. A good example of this is ToA. You can watch in depth guides on every boss mechanic and you'll end up overwhelmed because it so much. The way I avoided this I did a learner 0 to 50 invo DUO raid with someone that knows it and I had them explain just the basics just get through the raid with them on the spot. Once you do this, then I recommend going and watching in depth guides because they'll make more sense from there and you can progress your learning quicker and at ease that way. A lot of bosses/raids have so much mechanics, specials, attacks, etc... but a lot of them can honestly just be ignored with min detail and there might be 1 more 2 things you actually need to really look out for. I did this same method learning new invos to add to my solo runs too. Another example is Vorkath, he has a lot of different attacks and specials, but honestly, you just need to know when to move over 2 tiles and count ever 6 attacks for his 2 specials and that's really it.. you don't need to know every detail, it'll get overwhelming. Why do you think people like "to the point" guides that makes sense.

    My biggest mistake was trusting someone I truly didn’t know. An in-game friend that I’ve know for 1 1/2 years messaged me asking for help with a Bond. Since they were an Iron Man, in exchange for a bond they would let me kill them for items of equal value. Needless to say, after giving them the bond they blocked me and hopped worlds, never to be seen again.

I have one irl friend that plays occasionally with me but mostly solo.. hard to find friends these days. Maybe when I'm ready to do raids I'll find a clan to tag along with.. Hopefully I don't get ripped on drops 😅☠️

Now I'm able to actually start bossing and doing the PvM things I really enjoy in the game. True i used to think of drop rates all the time it sucked so bad. One thing alot of ppl dont get about a drop rate is regardless of the droprate, the chance of getting that item by the time you hit the drop rate is 64.3% (or maybe 63.4%) regardless of what the drop is. Only 64% of people will get a boss pet by 3000 kc, etc.

    Think the best advice I can give is no one can take away your xp drops. 13m/skill/max, even if it's 10k xp, will get you closer to your goal. remember it's a grindy game on purpose and there's no time limit to get to where youre going. The biggest mistake imo is overfocusing on a singular thing: once you get tired of one activity/grind, move on to another, even if it's just for an hour RSN

    Might be long for a youtube comment but I agree with the bond tip:
    I'm on my 5th or 6th account (the others being lost for 1 reason or another) and this is my most progressed by far because I was able to afford a few bonds (finally a real adult with an income) to buy entry level PvM gear. That got me to the point where I finally wanted to sit down and do the fighters torso /dragon defender/questing grinds etc. I understand why some people would feel like they didnt earn their account if they got bonds early, but for me idgaf if the trident in my account is purchased by bonds. Eventually, I'm going to sell it because my account is still in it's infancy and I'll replace it with something better that I grinded for. The grind to a maxed account takes several years sometimes and I was able to skip the very early parts to get to a point that made grinding feel worth it bc I had the bare minimum gear to make it worth it in terms of gp/hour.

    On that last point, I spent the money on a 3 bond pack and rushed 83 construction. Now I have a maxed house, and use it between almost literally every activity, and I've probably saved hundreds of thousands (if not millions) of gp along with many hours on teleports, spellbook swaps, or walking to a fairy ring/spirit tree/etc.
    As far as mistakes, I think my biggest thing is spending more money than I need to on convenience, while I still only have a 100M bank, and 5-10M cash stack. Like yeah, I COULD not bring a cannon to every slayer task. But it's so much faster. I COULD use Maples instead of Yews for tree runs. But they're so much faster. I know could avoid the mistake by just...not doing that. But being honest, I'm probably gonna keep doing it.

For how much time I spend on this game, the value is there for me EASILY. But in reality, I don't mind supporting this game since i LOVE OSRS and want to see the game do well.
    Also, the bossing tip is actually low key a really good one. I didn't believe you at first when you said it, but now that I've taken a break from PVM, I've made much more significant progress towards maxing. Once I max, I can then focus all my energy on PVM!

I would just do random shit till i got bored. But setting those goals is only half of the equation, you have to sit down and set a clear achievable path to said goal.
    When i came back a month or so ago i set a goal of a quest cape. Fast foward a month or so and ive done over 80 something quests and gotten the requirements for said quests. Only 5 more to go. I had to take a break from it tho and grind alittle vorkath.
