I served in the old Army Security Agency back in the years '68-'72. We had specialist ranks up to Spec 7 back then, which made sense in that not all soldiers are interested in or trained for leadership roles. In my outfit, almost everyone was a Specialist of one sort or another. Our shift supervisors were SFCs (E-7s). Ours was a highly technical organization, so the usual "Mickey Mouse" of the regular army wouldn't fly far in it. Our real bosses in NSA didn't care a thing about it and were interested only in our product. There are interesting stories about colonels who played the old army game, instead of letting the troops do their jobs. The consequences weren't pleasant for those officers up to and including at least one colonel.

I was walking on the grass and got caught by a sergeant-major once. Once. To this day I will walk 20 or more feet out of my way to avoid stepping on grass.

I will join the US army when I turn 17(3 years from now) as soon as I can I will join,Ive been wanting to join the US army since I was 3 and I’m not giving up on that dream of becoming an Abrams Tank commander or the General of the Army,Those 2 are my goals for the army,Yes I will chose to be a combat soldier and I am aware of the consequences and horrors of War and PTSD but I am willing to do what it takes to protect my country,family and friends even if it takes my life and I will gladly do it more than once if it takes that much to protect my nation from threats like China,North Korea and Russia
The Russian Federation is stronger than the U.S. If it were to come to war between the two. The U.S would surly fall. Russia has more advanced equipment built for war not built for show like the Abrams.

Joining the army when im 22
I would love to see the Soldiers today ,have to do like the ol Black Boot U.S.Army Soldiers had to do everyday....with centering you pin on rank , Spit shine boots each day for formation , our uniforms were pressed, and creased .. Wonder if they could handle it today .. Army doesn't have the Hardcore Discipline we had back then .. not knocking the ones there today ...but its not the same .

While that does help with discipline, that doesn't really help win wars, they'd rather take that time to do more MOS specific training or actually working on tasks that are necessary for the army than to clean some boots that will just get dirty again 5 minutes later
