Aren't all recruits civilian at her level. Difference between her and a real recruit is the real recruit wants to actually succeed. Not just write a novelty piece about what it's like to be in the Marine corps.
He’s like, oops, my bad.
My grandpa was a DI, two time Nam vet. He made his bed like this every morning and taught me how to make the sheets so tight a penny could bounce off the bed.
He was so kind and compassionate too.
RIP Abuelo.
Ive beem out of the marines for 20 years and i still make my bed like this
RIP to your grandpa!
Shoot you were lucky. When my dad was upset or drunk from hard liquor my bed had to be like that and if it wasn't he'd flip the bed and get in my face to make it again. (Army vet Nam) but my mom would eventually get on him about cooling his shit.
I still make my bed like that and I've been out of the Marines almost 40 yrs

The thing I love about drill instructors is when you watch them, they tell you everything you need to know and how to do it. And from the outside looking in you can hear, understand and empathise with drill like, wtf just do what he says. But when you're in the moment and it's being yelled at you and your nerves get in the way from thinking and hearing clearly you understand what the training is for.
AYE SIR, wait, fuck.
No but somehow I know for a fact that the nerves wouldn't get to me. Mostly because mom's already trained me to do this stuff since I was a kid😂so I'm used to the high octane learning scenarios
@@advocate_of_HAKAI i mean, if it hasn't happened for a while now, you might not reactivate the muscle memory properly if it even does, so there's that
@@advocate_of_HAKAIyou say that… but a drill instructor can be even scarier than “yo momma!”
They don’t play…. When you experience things they get away with “bending the rules” in terms of harsh training. You will quickly say, Wow, my momma wasn’t “That Mean!” Your mom isn’t training you for war. Big difference.

@mlard811 your if you still make your bed like basic training.
I was in RTC in 89 and I still make our bed this way.
My wife’s way is sloppy. 😅
When I was in basic training the very first day with my platoon, the trainers asked for one volunteer, not saying why. I thought: "What can happen the first day" and raised my hand.
They asked me where my bed and locker was and build the sample copy with my stuff. That was one of the best days in basic training for me. :)
They did that to one of my buddies but made sure to fuck it up before turning it back over to him lol

Scrolling through youtube and I stumbled upon this video, had to click on it. As soon as the video played I immediately realized that this was my SDI, I attended boot camp in September of 2016 platoon 1100!! He was excellent SDI and so were the other DI's in 1100. They did an excellent job preparing me to be a Marine and preparing me for my deployment in late 2017. Ill never forget when DI Sgt Fig put my EGA in my hand. Hope all of them are doing well and same to everyone in platoon 1100! Semper Fi brothers!!
People truly do not understand how effective Marine Corp boot camp training is especially to a young mind. I Graduated Jan of 1992 and to this day there things I learned in Boot Camp that are still a part of my every day life! It's the reason why every Marine no matter the generation can bound instantaneously over a handshake and a Semper Fi. To the outside world she is making a bed. To everyone of us it's an experience that we all are connected to we all shared in, it's one of hundreds of commonalities we all carry with us!

I love how hard the DI is trying not to laugh at times 😂
Whats even more amusing is that rack isn't there for demonstrating, it's some recruits home. I guarantee that recruit got disciplined for this reporter's failure to make that rack. As this was being filmed, said recruit was confident in his rack making skills, then got back to barracks, with Grenados waiting..."RECRUIT! WHAT IN THE FUCK DID YOU DO TO MY RACK?""Sir, it was in proper condition when this recruit left it, SIR!""ARE YOU CALLING ME A LIAR, RECRUIT?!?! ARE YOU SUGGESTING *I* FAILED TO INSTRUCT YOU ON HOW TO PROPERLY SECURE A RACK?!?!?"
I'll bet money Grenados specifically picked this rack as being used by a recruit who's daily quota of discipline has not yet been reached...

stan broniszewski He can't punish the reporter, at least, not in the sadistically pleasing way he punished the recruit. My guess is that recruit remade that rack in a proper, squared away, USMC fashion, then slept on the floor, then mopped the barrack floor to decontaminate it from the recruit's filth.
That's USMC boot, Grenados knew full well that rack would look like a disaster after the reporter "squared it away", and he sure as shit wasn't going to make it for the recruit, nor was he going to tolerate a fucked up rack in his barrack. It was a learning experience for both the reporter, and the hopeful Marine, she learned the PG version of how USMC boot works, the recruit learned that he is responsible for the care, and proper treatment of every item of gear the Commendant saw fit to issue him, no matter if he was present or not.

Secret of the pros....take your boot straps and connect them under your rack from side to side. Sleep on top of the covers. When u wake up, aside from a little tidying, your rack is tight and made up already. Also buy zip loc storage bags. So when they toss your footlocker all over the deck all your gear is still neatly inside your marked bags. Everyone else is trying to find their crap while you are chillin.
I was Army, not even Marines, and this is literally the nicest and most patient any Drill Instructors / Drill Sergeants will be in the first week when they're teaching you this stuff. IRL, after the second time not acknowledging them, there would be a 10+ minute smoke session. If it happened a third time, the whole squad or platoon is going to know about it. At the rate she was resisting the instruction, she'd be lucky if her arms even worked enough to make a bed when it was all over. You definitely don't want the Drills to know your name or face in the first month.

Having been in a position like his, I know how difficult it can be to flip from Drill to civilian because of the environment you're in. You are in Drill mode all the time. NHTU708 Why are you attacking me for? What I stated was true. The rack shown in the video would have belonged to a recruit due to this being filmed in PI. Recruits don't earn the title of marine till they pass the course.
It is Marine NOT marine
NHTU708 Well maybe you shouldn't have earned it. There is nothing prouder than being a US Marine. From your comments, it makes people think you may have been dishonourable discharged. If you indeed did serve, you are a shame to the Marine Corps. Perhaps you didn't fit in or didn't like your job, but don't go telling people that you think a criminal gang is better than the Marine Corps.
NHTU708 What a troll.
LOL..."Still did not say nothing"..I,know the drill instructor can be very serious..But,he just down played it.Thank you Sir for the smiles & laughter.Plus,Thank you for your service.I,hand salute you Sir..
That is a Senior Drill Instructor. He's so pissed off right then and there. AND SHE'S NOT YELLING! Those recruits got hammered afterwards. Guaranteed!
I'm having flashbacks. I still make my bed everyday after being in the Marines for 5 years.
Zakari respond to everyone with a yes ma’am yes sir, no ma’am no sir. But then again I had that habit even before the military.
I was not a marine and I make my bed. am I a hero?
Jonathan Bulkheed the only branch I feel it makes sense to have to know how to do a bed this well is Navy. Because when your locker is under your bed you don’t want your bed coming apart when you open it
Salty Steel I remember when i was watching some of the drills from the Marines. After watching them it made me think about this is how they make a Real man out you. And way she is laughing all most all the time. Damn Where’s Sgt harman when you need em. Bitch reporter be crying
Jonathan Bulkheed it’s not the bed, it’s the overall principle of having discipline. Pretty obvious you lack having it not even being able to understand this concept.
Legend Goes, She is Still Trying.
Oscar T ha ha
Rumor has it she didn’t say nothing either.
lmaoo😂😂😂
hahaha good one
Aye Sir
That brings back memories of my time at MCRD in the mid-seventies. 😊
Semper Fi.
This is the most calm DI ever
When I was in the navy years ago I took a little pride on how I made my rack. I got it where you could almost bounce a dime on it. I always got compliments from my chief on the way I did it.
lol that smirk at the camera
I remember a friend of mine, that served for some time, slept in our guest room. Next morning I went to check his room, the bed was so tight and well organized that you could toss a coin on it and would bounce right off. LMAO
When I was STC, we had nothing better to do all day than clean, read the knowledge, and tighten our racks. I once had a Drill Instructor pull out a coin and bounce it off my rack. He didn’t say anything, just moved on to the next. I like to think I made Drill Instructor Ssgt. Carrasquillo a little proud that day
Edit: I just did the math and there’s a chance it was on the day this comment was made
Fun fact, in the swedish army that's how they check if the bed is properly made. The DI would toss a femkrona coin (Like a cent coin), and if it won't bounce then you're fucked
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
@@marcusaurelius3487 what was the punishment? Listening to Abba for an hour while doing pt?
@@michaelpalacio5 Its the little things. Is STC National Gaurd?
lol he's hard core resisting the urge to yell at her. He'd be wiping that grin off her face to start with. lol
He's ready to break out in scream any second but holds back amazing
Tbh in the army this is truly the hardest part of boot camp is making your rack cause no matter what
Its wrong
I'm pretty sure it's every main branch except the Air Force. Their beds are made for them.
Navy bootcamp had the same standards and had to make your rack in 30 seconds.
Well Idk about army, but in the marines, even if you DO get it right, it’s getting yanked off the bed and thrown somewhere else for you to put back together like you just fucking prestige’d or something and now the game has gotten harder. You can never win... but it’s fun seeing how many times you can prestige everytime you DO get it right. Lol
You guys had 30 seconds? My DI gave us 30 when he was in a good mood....... which was never
@@joshua.recovers making my bed in AF basic was the exact same as shown here, except the MTI was as mean as this guy was trying to hide. AF basic is physically easier for sure but the mind games are the same, if not worse, than anyone else.
@@OxBlitzkriegxO I can definitely believe that. As a vet you know I'm just picking on you, my man. :)
We're all brothers and sisters in the armed forces.
Every time she started laughing, I couldn't help but laugh with her. The Drill Instructor was awesome. Great video!
Go, Air Force!
She was thirsty for that DI
in real life she would be in sandpits
@@jimbills3724 yeah!! We made the Air Force DI make our beds in basic training ! Lol
OMG! That is so funny!🤣 When my mom came back from basic training, USAF, I was 15 at the time, she made me learn how to make a bed properly! Till this day, I still make my bed nice and tight all corners smooth and I make my bed every morning when I rise. 😂RIP mom❤
My word, he was being so nice to her! A proper recruit would have been chewed out ten times worse! I hope she realises how soft she was getting treated, and thanks the DI accordingly!
0:50 he said you make me feel bad 😂😂
What a cutie
