It's always good for people who entrench themselves in whatever they do heavily to take a break now and then and recoup. Whenever you choose to stream again, I'll be tuning in as soon as possible. Stay great, Asmon.
I didn't really like your streams but when I saw the media share video I saw how genuine you were and I started to really enjoy them hope you find the right path love u man!
I'm 29 now, i stayed at home to keep my parents property from being taken from back taxes, then in 2012, i got a brain tumor, once it was removed had tons of bad after affects for almost 4 years, then in 2016 lost my mom, im so glad i stayed, because i got to have some incredible times with her before she left, and if i would've left when i was 18, i probably would have died, Feel no bad feelings for YOUR life choices, no one is in your shoes besides you, much respect brother, do what you gotta do.
I was recently diagnosed with MS and totally crushed every plan I had in my life so I totally understand how you are feeling with reevaluating your life. You discover what's actually important to you, and you value those things much more deeply. Just be you man, it's a video game for entertainment and socializing, if they are rude they are just proving how ignorant they are. I hope you see and read this and it moves you in a positive way. Btw the MS is effecting among other things, my finger dexterity so I haven't played in about 2 months, but that's okay! I still talk to some of my friends over Facebook and I like that.

I see myself so much in you it's scary. I don't know if this is what you had, but I started having panic attacks last year, and that totally changed my outlook on life. Get well buddy.
Take care of yourself mate, like truly try to minimize your exposure to stress. I myself didn't truly knew what were the panic attacks, I never experienced them. Until one time 3 years ago when I was overloaded with university assignments, work and bunch of other problems on top of that. As I was pulling another all nighter to finish all my assignments I've experienced a panic attack that also impaired my breathing for around 10 minutes. It felt as I was dying and couldn't do anything but lay on bed. It felt like I had cancer or something and was slowly fading away. Although I survived that sort of stress rekt my chest muscles on the right side, as well as shoulder blade. Been recovering through gym training ever since, and had to take steps to minimize exposure to that sort of bs I had to deal with.
Exercise, yeah i know its shit but if you run 20-30 mins are day, at a pace where you can talk even just at walking pace you start to feel better. Its better then taking meds.
Bro, my dad is 90, my mom is close to 70. I'm 26, take care of your parents no matter what people tell you. I saved my parents from dying plenty of times, since they brought me into the good earth and I'm glad to see you open up over the years. It makes me glad to have spent the time to listen to your story here.
@@Perkele_Itse yep, it makes my mental age all fucked up too, sometimes I think I'm 35... but then I gotta remember physically I'm 26. You deserve the break man. I have never played WoW but i still tune into your streams very often just because I love your humor and personality, you keep it real and relaxed but can crack some great laughs. Your awesome dude. Excited for your return brother.
@Austin Mark I concur. MoP was actually fucking great(after a few patches, but so was Legion), people were just seriously hung up on the Pandas. Can't say for Cata because I wasn't playing yet at the time. And WoD had the opposite problem to BfA - it had good gameplay, but very little content besides raiding.
Hey Asmongold, I'm 24 and I live with my mum, she has some crippling health problems and can barely get out of bed most days so she definitely needs someone around the house helping her out with regular things. I'm pretty proud to say I still live with her, I don't care what other people think. You are doing the right thing dude, you do you.

It isn't easy to just 'get a job' that pays well and keeps you happy. Unfortunately, the world is an ugly place and at times you'll have to decide between financial freedom, or your own happiness. Still, in todays world it's easier than ever to work independently online. Find waht you luv, and if its twitch and gaming... hell, start a small channel for yourself and stick with it even if its just for your own personal amusement. When i started streaming, it would bum me out at times that i wouldn't have the viewer counts of other streamers, but at the end of the day... you gotta just learn to luv yourself and stream/game just for yourself and to hell with the outside noise. Is this actually one of Asmongolds UA-cam channels? Reason I ask is because my dude had himself a panic attack. Probably experienced alot of depersonalization and derealization, which really fucks you up if you've never experienced either before. Had the same thing happen to me years ago and it totally destroyed me, left me with a brutal anxiety disorder and a heroin addiction for a longgggg time. So if anyone know's how to get in touch with Asmon, let me know, been 5 years clean from both the anxiety and heroin, (No I did not find Jesus) and think I could really offer him some sincere genuine advise.

I am sure you have come to this conclusion by now, but if not, go see a behavioral therapist. Anxiety/panic attacks signature is an impending sense of doom/dream and physical symptoms mimic that of a heart attack, and also manifest in other specific ways in individuals. Getting on anti-anxiety meds are a short term occasional fix, but cognitive behavioral therapy and talking through the phases/triggers/etc of these attacks are key to being able to rationally talk yourself down and out of them, and before you know it you will be able to say "Fuck it, just keep rolling." Take care brother
Honest to god, next time I go to Central Texas to visit my friends in the Fort Hood area, I'd gladly buy you a beer and just chill man. You're a good dude in my books. People don't understand streamer persona's versus who you actually are. Hit me up sometime brother, we all have our struggles and you're no different than everyone else.
Appreciate your time and honesty here. That mortality moment in your 20s is almost something i'd consider a rite of passage. Whats interesting is how each of us arrives at that moment, and when. My mortality epiphany was equally ridiculous. I cut the tip of my finger off by sticking it in an oscillating fan Anyhow, these are rare "1-time-only" moments in a mans life and I believe taking personal time for some introspection was the best move possible.
PS: just discovered you existed (catdany) a few weeks ago via highlights...You've made me nostalgic and excited for a game i haven't played in over a decade. See you in august!
I can't believe that was over 22 mins. It felt like 30 seconds. Keep it up Asmongold, you have a lot of peoples respect regardless of making content or not.
I'm so glad you're doing better brother and i really appreciate how honest/transparent you are to your viewers! Also, taking care of your Mom is one of the kindest things you could do and most certainly makes her proud of everything you do. Honeycutt
I relate to you so much Zach. Even down to the only reason and games we've played. Halo/smash/wow. Im 28 and take care of my mom too. Have overdosed before. And just got into gardening. Ive spent the last few days watching your compliations and its been very enjoyable. Thank you for all of your content and best of luck to you. From one gamer to another, from one guy to another guy.
I love your content because it takes me back to the old days, 10 years ago when basically the whole gaming world played WoW and it ended up being an important part of my youth. I shared many incredible moments in WoW with real life friends and people I met in WoW. Watching your content often brings back those memories vividly. Few of us still play, but you are one of these guys that was there in the beginning together with us, and u know what's what. I talk about your videos to my other friends, only to find out they already knew about you as well, and looked at your content for the same reason.

Yo dude I had a super similar experience as you did. Scared me so bad I called an ambulance to the house although I didn't end up going to the hospital. It felt like it could be a heart attack or something. Like you I played copious amounts of video games. I don't stream but I would sit and play games for 12-14 hours in a day sometimes. I was vaping as well and have anxiety. All of this tied into it. I went to the ER a few days later b/c I was still lightheaded when something would spike my anxiety or I over exerted myself. I'm 31 so I'm close to age to you. I know how you feel man. It scared the shit out of me too. I'm actually off of video games by and large now and moving around. I think that anxiety, being sedentary, and DEHYDRATED from vaping and not drinking water are all factors dude. Take care of yourself. Be more active. Drink water. Improve your diet. That's what I'm doing and that's what it sounds like you're starting to do. I'm sorry that happened to you man. I think there comes a point when you gotta cut back on being inactive and get moving. Get an additional hobby. I picked beekeeping.

PLEASE just keep doing what you're doing, look after yourself, dont rush back into things and im sure the fans who understand will be here for you when you're ready or if, you are ready to come back. Ty for this x
What you described sounds like classic anxiety. I’ve had the same thing and everyone always describes a tightness or pressure in the chest and feeling your heart rate and a sense of impending doom. It takes a long time to acknowledge it could be anxiety especially if you don’t exhibit classic anxiety symptoms like fear of public spaces, meeting people, etc. I spent like 2.5 years going to dozens and dozens of appointments and tests to find what was wrong with me and they always came back perfectly normal even though I could swear something was physically wrong with me. I don’t have any social anxiety or ever thought I was anxious but all my symptoms were those of generalized anxiety. I don’t know how to solve it because I still haven’t but I know where you’re coming from so my heart goes out to you.
Welcome to the world of anxiety attacks. That's what you had a year and a half ago (maybe longer). The sudden feeling of dread and mortality, thinking that you may very possibly die at this exact moment can be very enlightening and indeed makes you re-think your existence thus far. I used to have exact same attacks every night before going to sleep. Combined with sleep paralysis, it was a real terror. To the point where I was too scared to go to sleep. That was all anxiety, which is induced by stress. Whether it's straining your body with abnormal sleep routines, lack of exercise, unhealthy diet or the combination of all of them. I was dealing with this shit for well over 7 years before something finally changed and I learned to accept my own mortality, borderline not giving a fuck about it and the anxiety ceased to have any power over me. (Anxiety is always further boosted by any underlying thought of worry, e.g. oh my heart rate is so high, what can be wrong = instant anxiety levels rising). Just change something in your life. Go travel, go do something. You have made enough money to get a caretaker for your mom. But seriously, change the scenery just even for a while and try to gain some insight about yourself and what you really want in life (not what you think you may want). This comes from a guy who's traveled for 12 years and dealt with chronic depression and anxiety for a good portion of it, but somehow, traveling and living worry-free life has helped a LOT. Hope you'll do better.
I think the realisation of having his favourite game that he has sunk so much of his life into is dieing, it's almost like watching a best friend die slowly of cancer, something you had a connection with for so long is now dead and might never come back is enough to trigger an anxiety attack. I personally am going through this same process of grief due to loosing a good friend of mine, and although i am aware of the cause i can work on moving forward, but just imagine making that commitment of enjoying something and then having it taken away, not knowing what to do with your life anymore, its like going to your best friends house and he is never home he won't ever be home again. So you just wait, hope to find something else to do with your time and try to find joy and happiness again.
This is great, not that it happened but that you moved forward. Same thing happened to me minus the sleep paralysis thing, for months straight. Months of doctors visits later they determined it was probably a frame of mind. After accepting that it was indeed anxiety. Instead Of being on pharmaceuticals. I decided to change something being my diet and health. No more anxiety, change works. Realizing your mortality is a nice little awakening.
@Todd Kinner sure you could simplify and word anything to disregard it, im 100% sure its not specifically one issue that is causing his grief, like he said he feels responsible to take care of his mother, he wants an independent life but would feel terrible if he leaves his mother, it's a lot of things that build up, and when anxiety kicks in it can hit hard for no reason and you might have any idea why, its almost a subconscious response to a whole lot of little life stresses.
Dood! You have paid your dues and towed the line through the hardships and kept true to your source material. I have grown to enjoy you and your channel over the years. I get my wow news and what’s going on through you and a few others now that I’m older and can’t play as much. I’m sure I’m not the only one that respects what you’ve done and are a true fan of your craft. It’s definitely ok to take a break and step back. You should always be able to take a break and go have “you” time. Its definitely better for the long game mentally. Keep up the great work!

I feel you man, that feeling of mortality completely sucks. Ive also been feeling it recently, been thinking i should take more care of my health and quit partying all the time. Just do you and ill continue to watch your vids and streams, hope u feel better soon mate!
@Asmon you have bought so much happiness to so many people. Some one that does that isn't just a normal person they are amazing. Remember that we wear these bodies our sprites are forever.

I've been depressed since 15 years old I'm now 35 and it have gotten so much worse. I live on my own since 17 so don't worry, things do not necessarily get better if you find your own place to live but it might, this is just my experience. I wish you the best you're a very cool guy. Edit I don't know if you're depressed or not that wasn't my point of my comment just wanted to leave it there just in case., keep doing what you do because people love it.
That is not how depression works. Sure, depression can be caused by something bad that happend to you but sometimes it is not, you are just sad all the time and you dont know why. In that sort of cases you can't just take control of your life and quit being a pussy. In that sort of cases you need to ask for help
I'm not even a regular viewer of yours, but have heard of you just from being in the general mmo scene. Good for you! Good for being honest with yourself, and good for deciding to make some changes. I was 28 when I started having panic attacks and they seriously fucked me up mentally, I've found that being outdoors helps me greatly so I cut back on the computer a bit and started doing more outdoors, I'm not going to pretend like I've put anywhere near the amount of hours that you have, but I think you'll find it to be a very good move.
From what you said it could be that you had a panic attack. Your subconscious mind (that is reasonable for fight or flight actions) might have triggered it as a warning signal because you were acting against your gut feeling for a long time. I was having such symptoms as well. Basically felt like I am getting a heart attack. I changed some things in my life (removing stress factors) and now I am fine.
That was a panic attack. Tons of issues at the time as you outlined. It all caught up with you. Wise to take stock. You are in a position to have fun with your work. Most people aren't. Don't lose that. If something you are doing in your work is no longer fun then move on. Lose some subs and views maybe. But your channels are bigger than that. Stay true. Stay real. Stay Azmongold and your work will continue to prosper. You will have fun in Classic. Like a fresh account. Steel up. Server first awaits. And we'll be with you (in another window of course while I too play Classic), knowing that we are all having fun. (And your stream will not diminish if you experiment with other games and content every so often. Gardening, shopping, travelling to cons, etc. That bloody naive $400 mouse was the bomb!)
@@melissas4874 really? its usually mental i had lots of panic attacks around his age actually younger around 24-25 it was mostly mental i kept stressing about stuff a lot i even went to hospital twice because stress so bad, how i got it to stop is pills and trying to relax more, try not worry about stuff it was killing me.

Feeling of dread? Yeah, that's anxiety, dude. I deal with that on a way too regular basis. Will just be chilling, having some fun, and suddenly feel like something awful is about to happen, like I'm about to have a heart attack, just a horrible feeling that's hard to describe. Probably not an "overdose." I'd keep an eye on that and potential triggers for it, and work to avoid them if possible. If it gets worse, might be worth talking to a doctor about that, if you're okay with the medicine (though depending on what triggers it, a therapist might be enough to help). Honestly, seeing the chat on your streams, I'd totally understand anxiety related to that. I was elated to see I could hide it in Twitch, and love that it's not visible in the Twitched "channel" on my Roku. I know that's not on you, you don't want to censor people or anything (unless they say something really horrible). It's just how people are sadly.

Don't stop streaming man. I dream of people actually caring enough to listen to even a word I have to say. You have that.
I'm sure this will get lost in the comments but I hope you read it. We don't watch the stream for the games you play. We could watch a million videos about any game. We watch it for you.

I am sure you have come to this conclusion by now, but if not,
go see a behavioral therapist. Anxiety/panic attacks signature is an impending sense of doom/dream and physical symptoms mimic that of a heart attack, and also manifest in other specific ways in individuals.
Getting on anti-anxiety meds are a short term occasional fix, but cognitive behavioral therapy and talking through the phases/triggers/etc of these attacks are key to being able to rationally talk yourself down and out of them, and before you know it you will be able to say "Fuck it, just keep rolling."
Take care brother

Holy words dude !!

Imagine thinking because one single person stops playing a game that it's dead or going to be dead.
I mean this could totally be it.
I also suffer from chronic depression+anxiety and what you describe sounds like a panic attack to me too.
Hope you find what works for you!

Everyone deserves a break at some point. Keep your head up Asmon. We completely understand how you feel.
Everyone needs to take regular breaks/vacations from work, streamers are no different & shouldn't be made to feel guilty about being human.
Panic attacks can also be caused by other physical issues, but sometimes the imbalances can not be detected after it's over.

@@dumwee Really ? I messaged them to get back my account three years ago, got it back with some gifts in like one hour.
So i saw "mom hits 60 lvl in wow" vid few years ago, half year ago i started to watch asmongold. Now they put that 60 lvl vid again in my recommendations, dude, when i opened that channel and saw asmon face lol i was like mmhm maybe his fan or whatever. What a lovely coincidence
same xD
I have always enjoyed your content, before twitch when you did just youtube videos. I have deepest respect for you. I live it at home with my parents too people don't always understand the situation you are in, and its not always the easiest thing to say.
You deserve a break dude, you honestly need to care of yourself mental health is so important. Stay safe Zack.
I respect what ever decision that you go with. Wow or not ill still watch!
I started watching your content for over 10 years now, back when I started playing wow. I remember watching your gold making videos for wow. I bet the people that are saying shit about you can't say the same. Zack you've been apart of my life growing up, you're an amazing guy! Your deserve allot!
Witch?
I was probably one of his 1st 1k viewers on you tube his gold guides were R1
@@jamescouvillion9087 R1? And isin't it UA-cam* ? Get it right atleast.
@@MulaSaafChasers Bro, clearly you understand wtf he was trying to say. Grow up and just let people make mistakes that don't effect your goddamn life. Also, look at your sentences before you judge..."isin't it UA-cam"...you tell someone to "Get it right atleast" but don't even care to check your own grammar before you hit reply.
@@nickmiller344 hahahah you clearly did not see what i was doing there, it's ok don't exaggerate. Cya
asmon started watching you at the end of WoD, years later still keeping it real fkn love you brudaaaaaaaaa
Jesus.. I hadn't though about it, but it was 5 years ago that WoD came out. That's fucking crazy. Now think that WoW died before that, and we're still playing it, we're still playing it while watching Asmon regularly.
Love you Asmon, stay strong bro
Edit: watched it all. loved it
Glad to hear youre coming back to wow for a bit. You got me into the game I love like no other game even tho i started at the end of WoD. Watching you doing HFC for the 3000th time and calling everyone an idiot was one of the best times ive ever had. Since youre gone from WoW there is a big whole in my life (sounds edgy but w/e) without the transmog/mount competitions and all the other stuff youve done in your WoW streams. I really hope you get back into the game in 8.2 or somewhere else, the WoWcommunity is like no other in my eyes and will always got your back. Thanks for everything, never knew a neckbeard from america could influence my life so much
Very sobering to watch. Take all the time you need.
Best in slot life itself, man. Lots of love.
I'm 29, I went to Iraq at 19 and felt that same feeling,.. realizing your mortality and the preciousness of your sentience and that which you love. But tbh.... it kind of destroyed me in a way and I've been trying my best to play the game the way people expect you to play it... my perception of things will never be the same and it opened my eyes to the superficiality of the world and the way things are.... kind of jading me. Don't stop streaming man. I dream of people actually caring enough to listen to even a word I have to say. You have that.
Great comment
I'm sure this will get lost in the comments but I hope you read it.
We don't watch the stream for the games you play. We could watch a million videos about any game. We watch it for you. We enjoy what you make of everything you do. You could stream just about anything and we would probably watch it. Just do what you enjoy and we will enjoy it too. Keep up the great work
I don't. I only watch if he plays games I find interesting and I'm certain there are plenty of people who do the same.
Spergery and memes aside i truly love your work, will be waiting for the stream :-)
No Matter what we the real fans will always support you man.
That, lady's and gentleman, is what a burnout looks like.
Imagine working at your job not only Monday to Friday even Saturday but EVERY single day a week - no holidays no weekend - just job - sure your job might be fun for you but humans are just not made to work on the same thing forever with no break...
I'm glad asmon deals with his burnout so well and I'm glad about all the good comments you guys wrote!
Hope your day goes very well! Have a great break time!
Originally I was watching because of the wow videos. Now it's completely different. Now I watch your videos because they are hilarious. Much love man.
I think more content like this and the backyard stuff is a good opportunity to distance yourself from the stressful areas of your streaming career. Keep up the personal growth
Much respect man seriously you're a good dude 🤙
Mate I really enjoyed watching you and listening to your opinions. I saw you as an authentic human being. Follow your heart man, all the best.
Stay strong bruh, your true fans just want whats best for you. Do what you need to take care of your mental health
