Forever
To my shame, I’ve only just in the last few days discovered Daniel Trifonov through the transcendental etudes, I am absolutely hooked. He is just unbelievable, will go down in history as one of the truly greats.
Already is. Came across him surfing for music on youtube without any foreknowledge of who he was; and was completely overwhelmed with his incredible musical insight, emotionality tied to amazing control, and mind boggling technique. Doesn't play music so much as channel the spirits of Chopin, Lizst, Rachmaninov, Stravinsky. Instantly recognized him as belonging to a pantheon of greats, if not already at the top of the heap: Horzowski, Rubinstein, Arrau, Richter, Horowitz, Argerich. Mind Blown.
He's average. At best.
pianist of the century, to be
@@sarcastaball I’m afraid both the Rubenstein and Chopin competitions don’t accept “average” pianists. Even making the competitions suggests you are above average
I remember Mr. Trifonov's playing these 8 years ago as it was yesterday. Fryderyk Chopin would be so proud of him. And it really does not matter now that the silly jury awarded him just 3rd prize then.
I absolutely agree
Daniil should have been the first prize winner!!!!
Trifonov is a great pianist but if you watch and listen to the versions by Kate Liu, and Krystian Zimerman you understand the difference between first and third place. I just found myself wondering if DT would make it to the end without taking a breath at this speed and it was full of mistakes (not fatal by any means but if you are showcasing your virtuosity first and foremost then not a good look). Liu's version is better than this musically but still too delicate. Zimerman plays it in such a way that by the last minute of the piece you have to stand up and you can feel the excitement in your chest. Every nuance of the keyboard is explored. He's a musician's musician and a showman at the same time. Trifonov improved after this, but this is not first place playing. A close second to Zimerman would be Yundi Li. He also won.
@@jondavwal13 literally every single video, people debate over who’s better in the comments. Please don’t push this silly discussion so much. It’s too subjective. Even in a sport like basketball, the conversation has completely taken over all other meaningful discussion. And despite the fact that basketball isn’t even an art, people can’t agree on who’s the best of all time or even in a given year. It’s just a fruitless discussion and it’s more based in negatives than it is positives. The truth is all of these pianists are far better than we could ever hope to be and the opportunity to hear them play is a blessing that improves our lives so much. Listen to what they have to give and don’t let your mind compare and categorize so much
This is artistry of the greatest level. Absolutely sublime
What an exquisite performance!
Perfect hands for a concert pianist ! What a beautiful touch !!
I totally agree. A master of the keyboard. I'd like to hear him play Rachmaninoff piano Concerto No 3.
@@roxannecheatham57 ua-cam.com/video/wBca3z7bAtE/v-deo.html the best interpretation imo
@@darkygaming5587 what do think about Alexander Malofeev?
Truly
Such a beautiful performance ! Daniil is a genius pianist in the world. his music can melt everybody's heart.
A butterfly flutters - the real Chopin. Thank you Daniil !
I know... kind of magical...
His Andante spianato is something from other world. He's just perfection in any single note .I'll be honor to watch him live at Carnegie Hall. Can't wait
Best piano playing I've EVER heard!!!!!
I cannot express how much this piece means to me, thank you!
Dazzling performance of this extremely difficult piece.
I'm immersed in his music. Reaching the bottom of my heart. Can't stop listen to Daniil Trifonov and to admire his magic hands and the expressions of feelings on his face that gives an idea of the Beauty hi is into. ❤
That’s one gorgeous piano! The pianist is also wonderful.
The pianist made it sing 🎶🤭😍
what a piano fazioli!
trifonov comes from heaven to give us a little slice of eternity, divine...
Gran Polonesa brillante como tu Daniil! eres magnifico!!!!! grande y brillante!!!
Great performance! brilliant playing!
I can barely stand it. He is just so good!
It was Brillante playing :)
I just heard it, I hate the pun just as much as you do.
You can feel the joy and passion in his eyes and face and we can also hear it in his performance, how blessed are we to experience this! Mesmerizing
BEAUTY - what a wonderful pianist - OMG!
9 years ago and already a prodigy! Just heard him last week live in Indianapolis playing Schumann's piano concerto in A Minor. Sublime does not begin to describe it. Truly the best classical piano player of the moment.
Alexander Mirkin I completely agree. Even if I don’t agree with a particular interpretation I know that it’s the product of serious thought and the next time I hear him play it he might have changed his mind and heart and interpret it differently. He lives and breathes the music and the word that comes up more frequently describing his playing than I’ve ever heard used before is how he caresses the keys-really an astonishing pianist and a great gift to the world
Billy Joel is a 'piano player.' Daniil is truly a master. But so glad you appreciate the good stuff. Best Wishes to you. Hugs and Best Wishes. I'll bet the Schumann was indeed sublime. What a wonderful experience it must have been. I am jealous. I had tickets to see/hear him at Carnegie in NYC. I could not attend.
I just heard same concerto in Lisbon on live sending. Really amazing!
Have you seen Yundi Li play this on his competition (and won btw)!?!?! Sorry no one tops that performance of this piece.
not the best... Sokolov, Volodos, could claim too for instance. (and I like deeply Trifonov but I love Volodos too, with larger colors in my opinion...) anyway,it makes not really sense to think this way, there isn't first pianist but many fascinating ones.
Daniil's playing is so full of every good thing. I cannot imagine this piece being played better.
It is so wonderful, I don't have words for, this young man is a genius!
Fabuleux!!! Inégalable! Bravo Daniil!
An outstanding performance! Bravo!
It took a succession of three Slavic composers, Chopin, Tchaikovsky and Rachmaninov, to take piano music to such heavenly and complex heights. And it just happened to be at the time when piano design advances resulted in the beautiful sound that we are accustomed to today.
@@AS-iw3ft Not even by a long shot! Liszt's bad music, transcriptions and copy catting does not make him a great composer!
@@abe_48 he did advance the idea of concert pianists and social customs around the piano a lot, but both contributed greatly by their own rights

Dear Santa Claus: I want a Fazioli for this Christmas. Will it fit down my chimney? D.Trifanov is brilliant, no matter what piano he plays. I'm a devout fan. This video is old. He is now, better than ever. And just when you thought it was not possible. Mille Grazie to Chopin Institute on this UA-cam channel.I am indeed grateful for such beauty.
I ALSO¡¡¡
I was also impressed by the sound
I remember that edition of the contest, I went online to search informations about that unknown piano producer whose name sounded Italian...
@@Mikex0123 and it also depends JUST a little, on who is playing it. (wink)
:-)
Even the word 'wonderful' is disappointing limited in its ability to express the most profound stirrings of the human mind that this musical performance evokes!
More human FEELING than MIND I think, but YES this performance could only be called "TRANSCENDENT." A truly GLORIOUS achievement! Beyond brilliant. It is simply EXQUISITE.
Thank you dear Mr. Trifonov for your brilliant and perfect performance of Chopin's Andante Spionato and the Great Polonaise Brilliante. You undoubtedly are one of the greatest and sublime interpreters of Chopin in the 21st century. I wish you a lot of success as one ot the most talented virtuoso pianists of yhe 31st century.
You undoubtedly are one of most successful interpreters of Chopin in the 21st century as well as one of the most talented and virtuso pianists of the 21st century.I wish you a lot of success in the future.Your technique as well as expression on the piano is beyond perfect.
To whom criticizing him, remember when he performed this piece he was only a teenager (19 years old) .
This is an average age of all competitors. Zimmerman was less than 19 when he played the same piece in 1975 Chopin Competition in Warsaw.
sunny coram, what baffles me is the full set of Etudes op.25 from Rubinstein-competition in Israel. I also found the Fantaisie Impromptu:// Daniil Trifonov - Polonaise-fantasy in A flat major, Op. 61 (third stage, 2010) Chopin Institute -- 28K views. 2 years ago //upload time.
UA-cam also has him playing Rachmaninov (and probably more, I did not go through all of the videos) He has a large repertoire. And do I feel a love for music which goes way beyond performing? YES!
@@johnfalstaff2270 But Trifonov managed to play all 12 Transcendental Etudes in one concert. Which, at 19 years old, is absolutely insane
@@michaelw.4469, the Transcendental Etudes usually are performed all together. I think it was a Liszt intention. I might be wrong but whenever I heard them from radio it was the case. I never saw one etude played.
@@johnfalstaff2270 Well, Mazeppa is often played as a single piece...
I feel like I am hearing Chopin himself playing this. It is sublime. Poland is heard in every note.
He is such a master in sound and imagery.
And the Fazioli really give as well as it take ❤

D, Trifonov performs with superb dexterity! Every note resonates with the joyful beauty of sounds to the mind!

Simply beautiful, brought tears to my eyes.
I was in the same studio with him studying with Mr. Babayan. I don’t remember him practicing all this rep in preparation for the Chopin competition... I must have not paid enough attention. I do remember him working on the concerto and some etudes. It’s always fun to get together with him whenever he comes to town.
Quelle belle interprétation très personnelle claire sensible puissante cedt magnifique intelligent .bravo

7:17 - for about 10 seconds there....if I could just play this one time in my life, my life would have been worth it all.
Beautiful
June 21 I am in lockdown due to Covid and this is just lifting me out of myself
l just found this. What sheer joy.He plays so well.Chopin makes life worth living even in the midst of all this crap we are having to endure.God is good.
Eccellente👏👏👏
This is masterful. I'm trying to get work done but I'm transfixed by the the sheer beauty of the piece and the expressive way Trifonov plays it. My goodness...
Well said so beautiful. This is my problem as well...who cares about work when you can have a transcendent experience. I love Trifinov but either had not heard him play this in many yrs or never have...it is as if I am experiencing the Op 22 for the first time. Incredible.
Amazing playing , technique is superb, he is the best
Pan Fryderyk Chopin jest dumą Polski! Cały naród jest z niego dumny! 🇵🇱
Thanks you Mr Trifonov. Sensibility, brillante, forte expresión. Make me la vita piu bella avec votre magistral interpretation
He caresess the keyboard so lovingly, the notes floated beautifully from his fingers as it intertwined on the keyboard to sound almost celestial, especially the Spianato.
Zagrać Andante to wielka sztuka przeniesienia Emocji w dźwięk . Perła!!!

He actually caresses every note and creates such exquisite music.
Unbelievably gifted.
Truly. Classical music's goal is to please listener's soul, he really can do that.
I cannot think of a higher manifestation of human achievement. Music expressing the inexpressible.
The andante spianato was lovely and the grand polonaise was impeccable. The ornaments are so clear and delicate (really musical). It was a little too fast though. I enjoyed it. Bravo!!
Daniil make you feel what is playing , that why I keep coming back love is music

The polonaises are usually uninspiring, but Trifonov turns them into something special - how did he not win first prize? He gave this performance blood, sweat and tears...
Because (seriously) we've lost the ability to appreciate utter genius when it reveals itself.
Watching those gorgeous hands play that music is nearly as transporting as listening to it. Beyond fabulous.

Absolutely superhuman performance. Anyone that plays the piano reasonably well will be aware that this was very special. I just hope Chopin was listening to his awesome composition, played on the world's greatest piano (Fazioli) by one of the world's greatest pianists!

I have been a fan of E. Kissin for years. Now, I have to make a big decision who my number one Chopin musician shall be. At this moment in time, there is no question. Trifonov!
