Listen you guys who are constantly making comments on Lang Lang’s “funny expressions” expressions or Yuja Wangs dress code, remember these are 2 supreme artists who have reached the pinnacles of greatness in their chosen field. Not in several lifetimes will any of you come even close to achieving what they have by dint of huge talent and hard work. They choose to do what they do because it is their prerogative and they’re comfortable doing what they do. Listen to them with everything you have, watch magical fingers weave a sublime tapestry of exquisite music and rejoice because you are in the presence of supreme musical genius and you are very fortunate to hear them !

Excellent observations! We are blessed, not just with many fine performers of the music we love, but availability years ago we could only dream of. It is not necessary to compare... you may have favourites, mine can be the last one I've heard. Let a thousand flowers bloom...🤗🤗🤗 (there is one for me, but I appreciate the others too)

They are those CARPenters that don' t even have the guts to do it in the comments. They live everywhere on the tube. I feel it is so marvelous that not only do we get the immediate musicianship but the emotions in bringing the music to us. We should feel very honored they are so open with us.

Whatever people say about Lang Lang, I still love the silky, round, rich, and soft sound he creates. It's just a beautiful experience. I myself play the piano, and I know how much you have to be trained, not just technically but musically, to produce this sort of quality. It's also physical too. His hands and fingers are perfectly made to produce the kind of sound, which ultimately becomes beautiful music.

I remember Lang Lang from the beginning of his professional career, how much he seemed yet to learn despite a flawless technique. This is not only Lang Lang at his best, but it is a remarkable demonstration of the heights that even an early master of pianistic technique can reach in his musical mastery as well. Not only is this the finest Chopin I have heard but unique in the individual spirit that Lang Lang brings together with his sense of ensemble with the orchestra. It is deeply satisfying musicianship in every respect. Thank you Lang Lang and this finest of orchestras for leaving us all a product of timeless musical beauty.

Unique. Dictionary writes: being the only existing one of his type or, more generally, unusual, or special in some way. Special, unusual, the only one existing of his type. He makes us feel we play with him. The world would have missed him. But lets not forget the magnificent performance of the Warsaw Philharmonic. No need to search the dictionary for : Perfection. There are no words for perfection. Both the Warsaw Philarmonic and Lang Lang achieve perfection.

Not wanting you to become disenchanted with him, I think it's safe to say that there's an ever-growing number of viewers who are beginning to realize that this smiling throughout a performance is undignified, unprofessional, and unnecessary. In all my many years, I've never seen, or even heard of, pianists who gave as much attention to facial expressivity (and while we're at it, let's not overlook all those 'lovely' arm/elbow/limp wrist gestures) as they gave to the preparation of the pieces they're playing. And as a pianist/performer, I can assure you that not all of Lang's performances can be described as "magnificent". He does many things well, but in his less sterling moments, his playing can be abysmally unmusical, often vulgar. Knowing only too well how to "market" himself, he'll no doubt continue his popularity as long as his audiences continue their fascination with him

A central part of the experience of watching Lang Lang’s performances on tape
is the opportunity to watch not only the artist’s enthusiastic body movements
that are required to produce these wonderful sounds,
but also the chance to see close up the hand movements and the facial expressions that reveal:
-the real physical joy of playing the instrument and
-the artist’s intellectual appreciation of the compositions
-and finally, the transfer of the physicality of the sounds from the instrument to his body.
Sharing his joy at all levels.
Also, he is a cute young Asian guy. Thanks!

Now he has great control of touching the keys, since moving his hand position from above the keys as they teach you, down more parallel like Glenn Gould's position where he famously sat below the keyboard on a child-size bench he brought around with him.

His face expressions is a way he communicates (controle) his fingers , his mind , the music he has to "broadcast"...EVERY SINGLE note and phrase ...
And he has super controle over his mind , the meaning he wants to project , finger controle and perfect execution....he is may be not even aware he has face expressions / PULLING faces....
Watch a game of professional tennis)....Playing the piano demands much more (extreme) consentration....

The true genius is chopin who wrote both pieces before he turned 21 ! Lang Lang merely speaks his mind. All those who doesn’t like Lang Lang are merely jealous because you can play like him or you are not a pianist. Stop watching music and listen to what he is saying through his fingers. Whoever voiced that piano also deserves a mention

    • @meredithfrances9438
      @meredithfrances9438 3 роки тому +2

The false logic of your comment is so absurd it’s incredible! Anyone who critiques Lang Lang is jealous? Or can’t play the piano? We listen with our ears! No one has to play like Liszt to criticize Lang Lang. Yes, he’s a great technician but he’s no artist. And if you knew anything at all about Chopin you would know this man is no great interpreter of the great genius’s masterworks. Lang Lang wouldn’t pass through the first round of the International Chopin Piano Competition. Lang “merely” speaks his mind?!? An artist is supposed to interpret the music as closely as to how the composer envisioned it. What I meant about Liszt: even Chopin knew that Liszt could play Chopin’s superior pieces even better than Chopin could. Clean out your ears and listen to great world class musicians and not modern versions of Liberace! Listen to Kissin, Argerich, Triifinov, Blechacz, Argerich, Kanterow, Barenboim, Shishkin, Horowitz, Rubinstein and you will hear true genius and not mass market IG created Lang Lang
