Separating out the specific parts and tools for each of the seven step assembly process steps was brilliant on the part of the manufacturer. For the price, I am impressed at how sturdy this ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxvObaTzoHoHQLL4lHbJQmExHqsrZQm-f7 unit is and it does go together easily. Well, I was puzzled at first at Step 5 and maybe the instructions should mention that rail #62 needs to be tilted upwards a little to get the rail to fit into the main part #44. I like it that the rower can be stored vertically in a really small amount of space, but be forewarned that this rower is top heavy and for safety you'll need at least two bungee cords to keep the unit upright, attaching them to something; in my case to a third garage door. I have had this unit only a short time, and I will post an update once I've had it for a year. As for working your legs, I have to admit that I'm mainly rowing for upper body strength and I use other forms of exercise for leg strength (like walking fast, biking, or using a trampoline. But if you pull as far forward as possible, then you can give preference to your legs for the first 4 feet or so of travel. I also admit to not taking the two electronic connectors apart at Step 7. I simply inserted the two batteries while the other parts remained connected. By the way, there is plenty of resistance here, even in the lowest resistance settings. Kudos to Sunny Health & Fitness !
Wow....so I have been doing this incorrectly for years....knowing is half the battle
Same. The other half is being able to admit we were wrong.
It’s not incorrect. Just different. It’ll work more of your upper back, traps and delts. Don’t think there’s only one correct way of exercising.

These other folks got me out here bout to break my back. Thanks unc.
I see almost no one doing it like this, but this is the most natural form. Usually, people are completely vertical, and are taught to never move their spine.
Because the weight can go onto your lower back and herniate your discs
As someone who has broken L1 and L2 I can tell you that a tremendous amount of strain is on the lower back when forward.

same ..
This is just a different variation. There isn't a correct way to do it. Just depends on what you want to target
I've had some impressive results through my years of training doing things the way I've always done according to the "experts" advice on form - even when I didn't always quite feel the working muscle connection the way I wanted to feel it. The proper form with the cable row has been one of the most debatable moves in bodybuilding. It's one of those moves that become inconsistent from one set to the next. Whenever I couldn't feel the movement in the lats the entire time of the set, I found myself trying to make tweaks to the movement either during the set or change it up from one set to the next. My form was never bad. I just think my brain stored every bodybuilders "expert" advice, and never could make up my mind which advice was best. Fast-forward once again, and Charles has given me the advice I've been needing to feel that mind and muscle connection that we all strive for. There's always room for improvement if there's still room left to peak. Thanks Charles. You really are the goat.
The leaning back is not a "wrong" move... As long as you dont hyperextend, it can be used for hypertrophy power building, may it be for punching power, rotational power or general back power. Diffrent Methods, diffrent purposes.
Actually, you dont have to be that vertical, a little more lean back without hyperextending is fine, to really reach for the back with ur elbows and feel the activation of them. I always do it this way, and leaning myself foreward with the weight slowly is natural, to let the muscle stretch out.
Too often I see people just remaining static, with just the elbows moving...
I’m not reading all of that. Leaning back is wrong.
Back for punching? I don't think you understand how the body works
@@ProtaJit isn’t many bodybuilders n fitness ppl do the lean back there’s many ways to use the cable row not just like this
@@Carlos-lh3rnI do the leaning back and the leaning forward version. It just hits slightly different areas. I don’t get how people are so confident one version is “wrong”.
😂😂😂@@ProtaJ
That wouldn’t work on the one I use. The weights would reach the bottom too soon.
Interesting, I normally start from the same position get a stretch then row it backwards then lean back to a 100 - 120 degree angle I feel the rear delts firing
Lean forward bro, it's gonna change your life 🙏🏽
With lower back problems this positioning would be painful. I use an angled bench at 45 degrees to perform this exercise
More warm up and stretch before your workout
Keep going Man
I'm not saying it's wrong, just not for me. I'll do it more like Arnold, maybe a little slower
Again, these people don’t understand that this may work only for a marginal amount of people. Everyone’s body is and works different.
Everyone has a version that works for them. Lee Priest does it where he will slightly lean back and stick his chest out.
It's not even about what works for you, it's about what muscles you want to target during the exercise. Doing it this way with rounding of the back will incorporate more scapular retraction. Whereas keeping back straight will use more rear delt and bicep.
Master Charles, I wish I could do a training session with You. Godspeed from Poland!
You can , for 500 dollars an hour
If Charles Glass is giving the advice you’d be very wise to listen.
Absolutely 0 explanation "see that? see that angle? A lot of people lean back" so what is the benefit of leaning forward? I understand he's a bodybuilder but there are many bodybuilders that lean back or stay 90 degrees. As long as you're not swinging the weight, what is the benefit of leaning forward other than potentially fucking up your lower back?
I gained just watching this. Thank you sir!
Knowledge is key, so yes, you gained a lot! 😁
If training is all about angles, raising to a higher angle if just as effective. Excessive leaning is when the seated cable row is ineffective. Stop acting like CG has revolutionized the seated cable row.
Dang, I’ve been doing this exercise wrong this whole time.
Leaning forward or backward doesn't do any difference. Sit straight.
@@rishabhgaur8452 please explain why
You should bend forward to stretch the lats, that's exactly what he shows in this clip.
@@kobem6703 if you want to train the lats optimally, leave that to Lat pulldowns. Straight rows are mainly for middle back and traps and not so much for Lats.
@@rishabhgaur8452 Yeah, I agree. There is no advantage to leaning forward.
This seems to be for more experienced lifters who modify their posistions as they gain strength and knowledge. Leaning back hits the back to, but this seems more for advanced people

The other guy doesn't look comfortable at all. I bet you he kept doing it at 90, unless I'm comfortable with it I'm not gonna try any alteration.

Explain how it is "cheating" when you lean back. Using momentum is cheating and even then it can be used for athletic purposes to. This guy probably thinks a power clean is cheating.
So he s teaching a guy who has bigger back then him what to do😂😂😂
Mr. Glass is who I always inspired to be as a personal trainer.
Leaning back still causes hypertrophy
This is the first time I've seen a correct technique. I'll try it tomorrow in my health club.
how was it?
"Most people cheat and lay back" and then the guy proceeds to use momentum of hip flexion/extension BEFORE actually rowing with the muscles that are supposed to work i.e rhomboids, med trap, lats. That back flexion/extension PRIOR to actually row is nice to work back extensors that could be trained on, oh I don't know, maybe back extensions? Deadlifts? Good morning? RDL? Should I keep going? But, yes, let's tell everyone it's the "correct way" for the views XD
Looking forward to it.. I have my back workout today
Dude thats more than false. For the natural movement you have to lean a bit back. With that you get your back injured

Thank you Charles for your guidance 🙏
I don't like the pressure on my low back if done like this
Love how body builders act like everyone there to do the optimal hyoertrophic exercise for a particular muscle group. If I push with my legs and lean back I'm stimulating a lot more shit, and none od those moves are stressing your joints
I found the same s*** out today before I watched the video
This focuses more on the lats. The other way of doing it when you lean back and pull elbows behind your back focuses more on back thickness.
so do 3 sets of both! problem solved :-)
What you're saying makes no sense ... Back thickness could come from lower lat thickness as well , which is what they are targeting...If you lean back you will hit the upper back (mid traps and rear deltoid) and still get a bit of stimulation in the lats...
lol wtf 🤣

Thanks for all the tips. Salute GOB
Wow.. love this man. Every time he corrects someone, there's always less movement. That means there's a lot of wasted movement.
As with most exercises, there are several ways to successfully perform them. While this may be one, it definitely is not the only "correct way". This version is almost the way that frank zane did his cable rows. Reeves and gironda leaned forward a bit more and arnold had a greater and full range of motion. Arnold also "pinched" his shoulder blades together, stimulating a lot more rhomboids than the way that charles is doing them. The version that charles is demonstrating is primarily for the lats. Rows, of all kind, are typically supposed to involve the teres and rhomboids/inner traps as well, which this does not, to a great extent.
This is my favourite lat exercise, good shit
Im surprised Charles didnt have him pulling while doing a handstand
Depends on what you want to bias. Leaning back is going to hit the erectors and mid back whereas leaning forward is going to bias the lats more.
I am asking, even if I lose the scapula engage when eccentric, but when concentric I must flex the latt yes?
That’s a hell of a beard moustache combo at the beginning. Thought the fella was wearing a black face mask 🤣
Hope the video is not just a short thing so Charles can plug his products.
Ya' think
How you lean doesn't influence too much where the pull targets. It's where you pull from and to is where you'll notice differences. Pulling lower (closer to your bladder) the more you should feel your lats taking over, the more you start pulling up the body the more you'll target different back muscles more. Obviously exaggerated leaning in either direction you'll notice a massive difference, but slightly forward or slightly back wont be too different if your pull angle is the same
Who diss nicka?
It's not correct or incorrect, if you lean back and use the full range of motion of your back retracting your scapula you're also using and strengthening the mid back muscles that are rarely trained, that's why olympic weightlifters use full rom when doing seated rows and they do behind the neck pull ups. his way is fine to isolate the lats, obviously you're gonna feel it more in the lats but you won't be using all your back and the weight won't be as heavy since it's for hypertrophy. If you do it his way, do another variation like a barbell row with full ROM, pull ups to the chest, australian pull ups etc.. to build not only size but strength
Old heads know the way. Look at it like this. Yes, you're 35, a grown man. Yes, you know a lot. But he's 50. He's been 35 before. Have you ever been 50? Now simply cause he's old doesn't mean he knows more than you if he hasnt lived a certain kinda life and gained knowledge that he retained. But if he did and you listen to him, it's like cheating on a test. And those older men have all the answers. At least most of em. 😂
2 cable handles are waaaay better than the triangle close grip attachment
LFG
It's just rows. You don't need that much instruction.
in that position, u can't go for maximum weights...! If you go it will result in disc prolapse
there is no correct or wrong it depends on which muscles you are trying to hit
THIS VARIATION IS JUST AS GOOD AS A 90 DEGREE ANGLE, SAME THING...ONCE YOU GO BACK PAST THE 90 DEGREES, YOU LOSE IT
Just shows with good genetics you can do every exercise wrong and still make gains
I’m today years old! I thought leaning was cheating 🤯
We all watched Arnold performing rows with leaning forward with an extreme wide range of motion in Pumping İron..I guess he was doing it wrong..🤷🏻♂️🤷🏻♂️🫵🏻..considering he built probably the best and most aesthetic back of bodybuilding history..
My body don’t like this one. I get a zing in my wrist when go heavy by my thumb so I use this as a warm up go light get blood in back then move on
There's no 'proper way'. I used HD training when I was competing, threw the weights, stretched all the way forward and ripped it back. Always had the best back in any show I competed in, managed to build super wide deep lats, low rows and chins with weights will make you back grow, I don't care who you are.

... just row. If you lean forward the whole time you're effectively doing.... awkward, folded over lat pulldowns. Just do normal lat pulldowns if that's your goal. Or to mimic this exactly... do lean back lat pulldowns. You're just changing where you're pulling from.... same muscles used though.
that just different angle to work your back bit different...
