I'm a Camaro guy but I like your channel anyway. Finally someone that tells the truth about cutting springs and shows how to do it properly. I'm looking to cut the springs on my iroc Camaro sometime soon when this PA cold weather decides to kick rocks. My Brother has a fox body and we're always dissing each other, we sound like a couple of teenagers fighting over a girl. Typical Mustang vs Camaro feud. He's got a 5.0 full bolt-ons, headers and exhaust and I have a 350 high compression with an aggressive cam, quadrajet, headers, 5-speed swap. He gets me out of the hole every time but I walk by around the 90 mph mark. I never could believe how well a fox body responds to mods. Good straight line cars but I completely blow him away on the back windy roads. Fun stuff and I like your channel 👍

I’ve put shorter vert springs in the back and cut the fronts. Car rode great. I also put a smaller V6 sway bar on the front while leaving the stock 5.0 in the rear. It made the car stop pushing when at cornering grip limit. Handle completely neutral, and was easy to throttle steer if I wanted. Counterintuitive but worked great.
Vert springs aren’t shorter they’re higher spring rate due to the extra couple hundred pounds in the rear. If you put a stock vert spring in the rear of a hatch or notch it’s going to ride harder and taller.
I tried this exact method when trimming the front springs on my vert. I only cut 1/2 a coil out and removed the isolators to be safe. No matter how hard I struggled, I could not get the springs back in. Had to give up and remove the control arm bolts from the K-member and install them from the inside. Probably would have worked if I cut a full coil, but I wanted minimal effect on ride quality. Good video Brew
Same. It took me and my brother full strength and technical skills to get that back in. I’m strong like a mule too. Pry bars, legs, floor jacks…. It was rough. Came here to see how he did it. I need a tool to make it easy. Anyone?
I had the same struggle and had to walk away from it a couple of times. I tried a few different kinds of spring compressors to no avail. What actually worked? The Maximum Motorsports tool, getting the car high up enough and getting the A arm 90 degrees from the car. Jacked it up slowly.
I'm disappointed Andrew... I thought you were on my side hating pony wheels 😂. At least they are 17s with a thick set in the rear...going for that stealth sleeper vibe. Like you said tho, any wheels looks good with the perfect stance 👌
I’ve had mine cut on all my cars, best way to do it. What kind of struts and shocks are you using ? I could use a better dampening spring . Michigan roads effin suck .
If you are running full length headers with cut springs or lowering springs the headers will drag sometimes on speed bumps and different grades going into stores or business all depends where you drive your car
Did you leave the isolators off on the top and bottom? Both the front and rear? How does it ride after that? Also, how close is your exhaust to the ground?
I bought the tool from MM that's supposed to work wonders. I do like how you slid strut out and left everything on. I was going to do Eibachs but I may try cutting them to see if I like it. I had mine lowered years ago and I hated the ride so much we put stockers back in, which was a struggle. The right side spring didn't go in perfectly, leaving it sitting high on that side and it has been like that for about 20+ years.
Another great video my Brother! Cutting the springs and saving money is the way to go. 💯 Nothing like wasting money on lowering springs and then having to cut them because your 🦊 still doesn’t sit low enough. Definitely getting the springs out is easier than I thought. 💯👊🏾

Cutting springs are easy.... look at the compressed and mark which coil to cut which lowers the car by the amount you want to lower by. Going to be bouncy since the part being cut are the softer progressive coils....
Careful before attempting the front at home. I cut the exact same length and that spring was not going back in. End up having to get spring compression tool
Factory cats are worth a few bucks now? If so, great I have 2-3 sets in my garage! I love the pony wheels! I wish they had them in 15x6 and 15x10 to fit the new tires on my car.
What’s the best way to straighten the front fender out from where someone jacked on the pinch welds? My drivers side is bowed out a little from someone doing that
Best way I've personally found to bend them back is taking a big adjustable wrench, tightening it onto the pinch weld and belding it back straight. Some undercoating or paint after you have it straight isn't a bad idea as you'll probably have bare metal in some spots, it can also help hide imperfections with your repair.
Hey buddy hopefully you can answer my question I have a 05 mustang gt sits up like a truck can I cut 2 coils off and be ok and also do I cut both rear springs to match. Like 2 coils on each.

One of the topics were cutting Springs and it just so happens you put this video out so I immediately sent it to them. Thanks for everything you do man, in a couple months I’m buying you a drink at Ford takeover 😉
Seems like everyone is missing the reason to not cut springs. There's way more components in suspension other than springs. The changes in geometry, stress points (shortening shock stroke), accuracy of the cut etc all those thing come into play.
Nice job!!! I’ve been thinking about trying this, but I’m not sure what would happen with my SVO + 351w, on factory Koni SVO struts, & springs. Thoughts?
Would you reccomend cutting the Ford B or C springs? I put a set on my car years ago, but I cant remember which set lol. Anyway, it's not low enough in the rear and I cannot find my factory springs anywhere. Just curious if I should or just find another set of oem.
