Beautiful artwork! What do you do with the white side of the pages?

I usually add notes... what colours I used, what I liked, what I didn't etc. You could easily paint that side as well, creating a book that opens both ways!

Thank you, for explaining it nicely. I just made these for ink art practice.

Do you have any good tips for the acrylic paint not cracking when you fold it, or doesn't it bother you? (asking for myself, not as a critique)

I've only got one layer of paint on there... i find it's not really thick enough to crack anywhere but along the fold, and cracking there doesn't bother me at all. It's a fold, and if you want to work in book form, there are going to be folds. You could always fold up the paper first and then paint it, if you want to avoid cracking. If you buy a book ready made this is how you would be working in it.

@@mariannemorrisart Thanks for getting back to me. Perhaps my paper was too thick or those particular fibres didn't like the bending, it got very ugly. I'll try lighter paper, lighter paint, perhaps wetting and prebending first. I do like the concept of beginning with one large painting!

@@piajuul66 I did use a coat of gesso on the paper, both front and back, before painting it... maybe that sealed it enough so I didn't have a problem. I'm not really sure. Maybe try a small piece first to get an idea of what might happen before committing to a large sheet. My first book was made with a small sheet i got from a watercolour pad to see how things would work.
