I love this!!! I wanted to make a tiny sketchbook, so I used a letter sized paper folded in 16 to make a tiny sketchbook! I used some cardstock to make a cover. I love that you included the diagrams for where to cut. It's so awesome! Thank you for posting this tutorial!!!!
I like the option of using the blank side of the paper for more drawings or for journaling. One thing to keep in mind is the grain of the paper and ease of folding and potential warping.
Liz, I love your channel in general - always so inspirational and you provide such great guidance. This series on building sketchbooks is brilliant. I love that you share your actual experience - even the challenges! It allows those of us fussing about to create sketchbooks a bit of relief. Be well! ♥♥
Brilliant, Liz! I love the idea of a button. I'm going to try this. But I'll practice first on a plain sheet of paper, so that I have a dry run through. Thanks again!
I have to admit I saw another artist suggest it in a different way, so I played around and adapted it. I do like pockets and I find the double pages a little awkward to work on, so it’s no loss. the only time I don’t do them is if I want to display the book open as one sheet of paper again.
This is great! I think this one seems more doable for me (rather than the perfect bound one) for when I try my first attempt at making a journal. It's fun that you tried something new, and you really made it work. It's all trial and error with arts & crafts! Thanks again! 💐
This is fantastic! I love the idea of mostly folding (with just a couple long cuts), as opposed to having to cut individual pieces of paper. It makes this technique one that I would be a lot more likely to do. Thank you for sharing!
Lovely Liz. Great tutorial. Very creative ideas. I liked the idea of using card stock for the cover. I think a heavier, good quality wrapping paper might be very pretty as well. Thank you for the tutorial.
Love this! I’m going on a short 2 day mystery tour in March and will make a smaller version of this one to take along. Can’t wait to get started! Thanks again Liz!
@@maieyanni1473 you can use whatever weight paper you like (or have). I’ve made them with heavier watercolour paper and with cartridge. It’s worth thinking of the end use. They are fun to make and use.
Lovely to meet you. Hello from Australia. 🌸🌹🪻

I love to try this too. No need to buy watercolor book already if I could diy it. Tq Liz for showing it! ❤️

I decided not to mention grain as these are small books and I didn’t want to put off first time bookbinders, but of course you are correct
Love the pocket idea! Thanks for the inspiration. 😊
You are so welcome!
Loved them all! Thank you sooo much!

I hope you find it straight forward. Be warned making books is highly addictive!
@@LizChadertonArt Yes it was and too late with the warning 😜
@@LoreleiBell-n6m oops!
I've made several of these, but I've never seen them with the pockets! Thank you so much for that tip!

I can't wait to fill all these fun sketchbooks we are making! ❤️
Me too!
Great project Liz...Thank you for the tutorial...👍👍
Glad you liked it!

it is straight forward and you get a journal to your exact spec rather than compromising.
Thanks, Liz! The pocket makes good sense❤
Yes it does!
Thanks a lot for clear explanations with your drawing 🙏🏼
Glad it was helpful!

It’s quick and simple once you get your head round the cuts!

yes, as long as it doesn’t go wrinkly when you glue it, should be great!
I think that is very useful and encouraging to see the faults. It is a great lesson too. Thanks!

perfect! have a great trip
I love this idea for a book 👍
I'm so glad!
Liz, just watched a demo you did with 3 ducks. It was great to watch, you should add a link, or get the video for your viewers, just a thought
That’s a good idea. will see what I can do.
Thank you Liz ,lovely demo,do you mind me asking what weight/thickness of paper in Gsm do you use ? Thanks
It was about 90lbs, just a thick drawing/cartridge paper, so it can take a light was if I want.
@@LizChadertonArt Wonderful thanks Liz , so in British gsm that would be around 185Gsm
