Had 99 Nomad 1500G for 7 years. My grandfather bought it new off the showroom floor. He sold it years later, and i ran into the guy after my Grandpa passed away. And bought it back from him. Had it until 6 months ago. A good 7 year ride tho. Just picked up a 01 Nomad with 26k miles. And starting the customization of this one like i did the last one. Love these bikes, and ive had harleys, yamaha, suzuki. And wouldnt trade this thing for one of them.
That is such a nice story, I’m glad you shared it. Thank you! I have sold this one now, but not because I didn’t like it. It’s a gorgeous bike, just impractical for the majority of my riding.
@@Saddlebags73 Can I ask why impractical? Im going for one of these, for a summers evening or weekend cruise, maybe weekend away camping trips by bike, and just general riding. Love the look of them. Your bike in this burnt orange is very very nice!
@@MegaVinny73 Hi. Gorgeous bike and I loved riding it. It was impractical for me because I live in a rural area and the majority my riding involves narrow country lanes. It is such a heavy bike that it doesn’t do too well on gravel or muddy surfaces. If I did more ‘cruising’ it would be perfect. All the best 👍🏼
I had a 2004 Nomad which was the American spec but not imported but registered here from new. Had all the extras including inner bags. Loved it but had to sell to get a commuter after 2 years. Made me a v-twin cruiser fan. Currently
I moved this one on and opted for something more suitable for the majority of the roads I ride. It was a gorgeous bike though and I love the power delivery of a big v twin. Many thanks 👍🏼
We had a VN1600 when living abroad which had the same sort of seats and backrest. Can absolutely guarantee that Twinks will love it. The whole package encourages taking your time and enjoying the relaxing ride. Its weight is compensated for by the low seat height and on the move you hardly notice the pillion is there. I really regret not taking the trouble to bring mine back and putting it on UK plates.
That’s good to hear. I’ve taken a bit of a chance, just hoping that it’ll be comfy for Twinks. And what you say about it “encouraging taking your time”, yes I’m feeling that 100%. I’m really looking forward to getting out on it when it warms up a bit. Awww, I’m sorry to have stirred up the memories. That must have been a tough decision. Many thanks indeed, JRM 👍🏼
Well I think it's a splendid bike. Colour is amazing. I had the Vulcan 900 Classic, a 2008 model if I recall rightly. My review on YT at the time now has 182k views, today of course it wouldn't stand up to scrutiny. I think the two are so similar, that a lot of VN900 parts would fit your Nomad. It was a Very comfortable bike on long runs with a 250 miles tank range, but slow. It was Belt drive so no messy chain.
I’m quite smitten with it and I’m looking forward to getting out on it when better weather returns. Wow that’s a big hitting review. I can’t say I know much about VN’s, but I’m sure this one won’t get 250 out of a tank 🥴 Thanks CMD 👍🏼
I had a 2006 Kawasaki Vulcan VN900 when I had afemale to ride with me. Mine was belt drive, silver with stock exhaust. I did 4 legs of 1,000 miles and had to have The Pro Pad to keep my butt from complaining on long rides. Happy for ya buddy.
My neighbour just picked up one of these as an addition to his 1953 BSA A7, something he can just hop on and start without having to fart around tickling carbies and such. It sounds fantastic (after market pipes and all) and looks a treat. If I bought a Vulcan I reckon I'd have to call it Mr Spock.
I started on a Yamaha V Star. Put 45k miles on her and loved my first experience. But then to the BMW R1150RT and liked the riding position more with legs and upright. It's been 21 years of riding and see that posture is very important for me, so I never looked back at cruisers. With the wind screen you should be able to ride it in winter well and as for the color? Perfect! Enjoy as there is No Mad on two wheels, just pure pleasure.
That’s big miles. This is a first for me. Cruisers never tickled my fancy until a few years ago. I find the riding position really comfy, but longer rides will give me a better idea. The screen offers good shelter, but now the roads are covered in salt so this one will be staying in the garage alongside the Classic 500. Ah thanks LOY, I do love the colour 🙂
What a beauty!!! I love those bikes!!!! Such a great riding bike, and so pretty! I think you and Twinks will love riding that beast around. Congratulations!!
Thanks Patrick, I’m smitten with it and I’m pretty confident Twinks will like it. Hopefully it’s the beginning of a long and meaningful relationship. All the best my friend 👍🏼 Jeff
What a beautiful bike ! You’ll grow to love it I’m sure- I’ve a Harley and those v twins get in your soul. Just remember there’s a lot less ground clearance and don’t park into the kerb, especially on a hill lol 👍🇬🇧
Thank you, mihai 🙏🏼 I’m already smitten with it and I’m pretty confident the good lady is going to find it comfortable. This could be the beginning of a long and meaningful relationship. You’re right about ground clearance but it’s for plodding around on. Oh and yes, I definitely need to plan ahead when parking. The Pan European was good practice 🤣 Many thanks for watching and your input 👍🏼🙂
One year, cannot remember when, my wife and I took a demo ride on the Vulcan 2000. It was actually as heavy as some full dressed touring models. I thought that for its size it handled quite well. I didn't push my luck on it but I could ride it at a somewhat brisk pace.
I forgot to mention the name 🤦🏻♂️ It’ll be revealed in a couple of weeks. Hahaa yes, and I noticed the next day all the bridges I crossed were closed for repairs 🥴 Thanks Flapjack 👍🏼
Although she's loud, on camera it sounds really good, and looks really good too. It will be good for you and the channel I think. I'll look forward to the naming ceremony.
Ahh she sounds gorgeous, but it’s just a bit too much isn’t it. The constant drone becomes tiresome after 20-30 minutes, so after a long ride I imagine it would be torture. Hopefully it doesn’t lose its character with quieter pipes, assuming I keep her. It’s less of a naming ceremony and more of an afterthought 🤦🏻♂️ Thanks ER 🙂👍🏼
Not a bike I was expecting to see you on!! Very nice though!! It's got that classy style going! I can't blame you about the exhaust. I'm not a fan of obnoxiously loud pipes either. Good video Saddlebags!! And congratulations!!
I bet it’s a surprise for a lot of people. Radically different to anything else I’ve owned. I’m smitten with it though. The pipes really do sound amazing, but yea, just too much 😢 Thanks so much Kode, much appreciated 🙂👍🏼
That's really cool and absolutely super classic vulcan bigbike bro. Love the sound of the bike. Keep it up and more vidz to come. I'm now in! RIDE SAFE ALWAYS brother 🙏👊😊🤙❤️
Hi there, thank you so much. I’m smitten with it. I can’t wait until Spring when I can start putting some miles on her. Thanks again and take care out there 🙂👍🏼
I've always admired those big, torquey (isn't that in Devon?) V twins. I just haven't come to terms with cruisers yet. I really should try one. Fantastic colour and sound. Hope she turns out to be right for you.
Yes that’s Devon 🤣 They never used to turn me on, but I’m loving it so far. It does sound lovely and it’ll be a shame to quieten it down, but it’s no good for any more than 20 minutes. I don’t think my neighbours are impressed either 🥴 Thanks Paul 🙂👍🏼
Hy and thanks for the informativ video,i had a Kawa VN 900 and it was a beauti super comfi and good to ride.Wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year and good luck on your new bike.Ride safe.
Thanks cooper, I love this thing. I have found it really comfy so far, but longer rides will tell. Thank you kindly, Merry Christmas and a happy new year to you too. Take care my friend 👍🏼
Nice, always liked them. Depending on the type of V&H silencers you may be able to get quieter baffles for them, or indeed modify fabricate new ones, I'm sure the FB page will tell.
Many thanks, I’m smitten with it. I don’t need to worry about the pipes until Spring. If Twinks is happy on it, which I suspect she will be, I’ll see what my options are. It sounds wonderful and I think quieting it down too much will take away the character. Thanks again 👍🏼
I had a VN 1500 Classic Tourer which, apart from the colour, looked identical. I loved it, but due to being unable to find someone to do a trike conversion without losing the Saddlebags, I very reluctantly parted company with it.
A very fine looking beast. Vance and Hines are incredibly loud. The video audio doesn't do it much justice, but event the rumble is wonderful to listen to. :)
Good bikes, but they have everything I don't like attached. Chrome bars, fixed hard bags, floorboards, heel shifter, huge windscreen,, massive seat.... I guess it's all up to rider preferences. Enjoy your new ride !! :)
Each to their own but after what seems like years watching you on 'normal' bikes, nah, just not a Cornwall bike! Mind you, might change mind after watching 'Angel Steps Vulcanised', the up-coming hilarious follow-up sequel! 🚾
Ah I hope it doesn’t put you off watching. I agree it isn’t ideal given my surroundings, but the majority of my riding will still be on the RE’s. Hahaa, green lanes on this thing would make very entertaining vids…expensive and sweaty, but entertaining 🤣 Thanks DD
@@Saddlebags73 duna fret Sir, only watch your channel because of the all-round excellence of your work, and my love of quality concrete mixer engines 🏍🏍🏍 Tell you what though SB, it would be excellent if You and The Boss both tell us your impressions of 'best' 2 up bikes, but please try Honda NT 1100 DCT first, you won't bother touching anything else after!!!
@@drdoolittle5724 Hahaa there’ll still plenty of concrete mixing 🤣 I’ll make a two up video on this one when it warms up. Not sure how I’d go about getting a ride on an NT though. I’m not Exeter Rider, you know 🤣 Much appreciated DD, thank you 🙏🏼
Well done, love the bike. I am glad to see you are open minded when it comes to bike types like myself. I have owned several of the big Jap cruisers the 1600 and 1700 Yamaha Roadstar's then the 1900 Roadliner, 1700 Honda shadow, all fantastically comfortable powerful confidence inspiring road burners. They really do make you feel like the king of the road. I Did fall into the Harley trap for a while with 3 of those a Wdeglide, Dyna and Fat bob ( who comes up with these names ) i didn't consider them superior, but they do sound different due to the firing order so they tell me. However it is Royal Enfield or bust for me at the moment.... the collection is up to 5 at present. Love the new BSA However. You have made me look up what the Vulcan 1500 are selling for out here in Australia..... that's how much i like your new bike choice. Take care, Looking forward to video's of your new ride in the spring next year. No pressure!
A proper biker appreciates all bikes, don’t you think? Even HD’s 🤣 My first cruiser, and so far I’m smitten with it. However Ernie the Classic 500 is still, and probably always will be my favourite. I’m not I the market for the BSA, but I do like the look of them. I hope they’re successful, after getting off to a bad start with their marketing. Many thanks my friend. Take care over there 🙂👍🏼
I had one of these about 10 years ago.. it had been customised with all the bits taken off and painted Matt black..mine only had 4 gears but it wa so much fun to ride and loud. Loved it. I'll need to dig out a picture and send it to you.. Has Phil talked you into this 😂
Ooh I like! A friend is selling his meanstreak. I was slightly tempted but too big for me and fuel economy etc. I would change the number plate trim. 🤣 However, loud pipes save lives! Embrace them. My baby Vulcan S 650 is a family member by name only I think. Happy cruising to you and Twinks. 🤘
Ah yes the meanstreak is a very similar beast. And yep, I don’t economy was on the criteria when Kawasaki built these 🥴 The plate holder is hideous eh 🤣 I adore the sound from the pipes, but after 20-30 minutes the droning in the helmet gets a bit much. I imagine on a long ride it would be torture. We’ll see. Many thanks Lady J 🙂
@Saddlebags 73 I must admit I'm not quite used to my quiet stock pipes on my vulcan s. I can hold a conversation without comms at the lights now. Very strange. 🤣 my daughter does prefer it. And I guess our hearing too. Watch the vibration if you mount your phone. My old v twin killed the camera on my old phone. Not sure how you green lane with it mounted. 🤔 Ride safe, J
Do you still have it ? I've been thinking about one so looked up this video and I live in henwood just down the lane from minions! That old garage you pulled into at the end belongs to my landlord, currently have 2 Bonnie's which are ideal for round here but not so good on the main roads...cheers
Yes, I only bought it recently. It won’t get any proper use until winter has passed. I have stopped in Henwood a few times in videos. Most recently on group Royal Enfield ride. Come to think of it, I think I’ve seen a Bonnie parked there, but could be mistaken. I have fitted tyres down at Darley Ford coaches, many years ago. Perhaps still the same owners? Many thanks 👍🏼
@@Saddlebags73 yes still the same owners! He was born in the caradon Inn 93 years ago...the family date back hundreds of years in the area ,occasionally the Bonnie's parked in Henwood ,my lock up is miles away though! I've probably heard the enfields!
I think I would be able to buy one , even being heavy and cumbersome. It's rare, rather oldish, but the colour is amazing. Good vibres and strong sensations , I imagine. Attention: I will never swap my Classic 500 for anything in the world..Congratulatons .
It is a wonderful machine and it’s lovely to ride. But Ernie is still my favourite and I share your sentiments. I don’t think I could ever let that one go. Many thanks my friend.
It’s a surprise for a lot of people I think. Radically different to anything else I’ve owned. I know it won’t turn a lot of people on, but hopefully, like your good self, they’ll stick around. Many thanks indeed, Volt. Much appreciated 👍🏼
Luv this Jeff, nice one. It’s funny but the general public do not seem to find the noise made by louder cruisers offensive and appear to be a lot more tolerant. So you might not be annoying folk as much as you think. Coz she sounds awesome. Some of my friends are quite concerned because I like Harley’s. Mind, a few have admitted to liking Harley’s too. Defo gonna gave one someday. Enjoy my friend. Neil
Thanks Neil. I’m smitten with it. The pipes sound incredible, I really love it, but even if they don’t upset the neighbours, I don’t think they’d be any good on a long ride, and I doubt Twinks and I would be able to hear each other through the comms. But, my concern is quieting it too much would take away its character. I’ll see how she finds itvin the Spring, and take it from there. Yeh, I do find myself admiring Harley’s too, quietly 🤣 Thanks again Neil. All the best 👍🏼
@@Saddlebags73 Your welcome Jeff and thanx for all the pleasure you give us with your videos. Yeah, you gotta point about long runs. I had a lovely 4into1 Yoshi on my GS1000 back in 1980, god was it loud, but the continued droning on long rides wasn’t much fun. Take care out there my friend.
Hi Laurie, She is a beast, and I don’t think economy was part of the criteria when Kawasaki came up with this one 🥴 Many thanks, all the best to you too 🙂
@Saddlebags73 I hear you on that. It's no doubt a big bike. I also have an 18 kawasaki versys x 300 that I purchased new. I find myself on that bike more than any other. It's light, and the seating position is very easy on the body. Check it out it's great for the tight roads.
@@indee105 I recently picked up a 650 V-Strom which seems perfect for what I need. I’m a bit of a Kawasaki fan boy though really. I’m sure the Versys is excellent 👍🏼
That does look like it’s been cared for. Very nice. If you remove the baffles it might sound better😂 I’m all for a bit of variety so approve wholeheartedly. Can’t wait to see a TET video on it😂
It needs a little attention, but it’s by no means bad. Haha I don’t think there’s much baffle in there 🤦🏻♂️ Proper bikers appreciate all bikes, don’t they 🙂👍🏼 I’m going to find a doable green lane 🤣
She's gorgeous! Love the colour. Shame you'll have to change out the pipes, they suit her. Maybe get some fishtail ends though. I think Twinks should be very comfortable on that seat and the people who get lower back pain often have a fairly large gut on their knees, that presses them back into the seat. If the bars keep you upright or a little forward, your back should be OK. Fair weather bike though, all that chrome 😱 Heavy, not nimble but what a beast!!!
Thanks Lily, I’m smitten. It will be a shame to change the pipes, they kind of make the bike. But it’s just a bit too loud. Twinks and I wouldn’t be able to hear each other over it. I find it really comfortable, but I am working on the gut. Pasties and cream teas 🤦🏻♂️ Definitely a dry day bike, and it’s going nowhere for a while now, with all the salt on the roads. Thanks again Lily 🙏🏻🙂
Lovely bike SB I wouldn't be embarrassed my friend she sound great wake those sleepy hollows up a bit 😉in fairness it's not that offensive it's just that you aren't used to it yet .Been thinking of going down the big twin route myself for next year but I see on that one .Looks like it has a heel toe shifter on there too and don't the Kawasaki big cruisers sold here have the same motor ?. It looks to be a great ride hope Twink's like it when she has a go looks comfy for the passenger .Keep on cruising those roads and enjoy 👌👍Pucker job !! y por supuesto cuidate .
Hahaa I feel like a bit of a rebel thundering through the quiet places. I’m not a stranger to loud pipes. I had a TL1000 on Venom race cans, it used to set car alarms off just bimbling through town. And even though I was much younger I still found it a bit embarrassing sometimes, especially when going home late at night. Now it’s as much about the discomfort. The droning in the helmet gets tiresome after 20-30 minutes. A long haul would be torturous, I imagine. Also there’s no way Twinks and I could communicate through the comms (maybe a good thing🤣). It does sound quite wonderful though, and I fear the bike would lose its character without it. Yes, heel toe shifter, a first for me but adapted quickly and really like it. I expect it’s the same motor wherever they were sold. I hope Twinks likes it too, because I’m smitten with it 😍 Muchas gracias amigo, cuidate 🙂👍🏼
@@Saddlebags73 ah yes they do grow on you but heavy that’s why I have a baby cruiser lol 👍🏻but great for touring hope you and your magnificent other love it and hope you have the weather for it 👍🏻😉
Ah finally I get to see what I've known about for some time now. Congratulations she/he is a beautiful/handsome beast. If your looking for swapping those pipes I'll swap them for my standard pipes and a bit of cash your way. Thanks for the mention 👍 I haven't had my 1600 out since the first ride review, too wet and the roads are being salted, today we've got snow. I'm sure Twinks will love the comfort and the security of the backrest and rear frame guards. Mrs Wolf did say she didn't like the vibrations/ throb from the engine through the seat but she did have a giggle as she said it. Hopefully Twinks will be able to be flat footed on the boards, Mrs Wolf's a bit vertically challenged and so can only tippy toe them. Hope you both have many happy miles with great big smiles. Get in touch about the exhausts my channel Email should be in my about section.
Thanks Mr Wolf, she is a beauty. It’ll be a while before I know if I’m changing the pipes but I’ll keep that in mind. Would they be the same though? Temps have dropped dramatically since filming this, so the Nomad and the Classic 500 won’t be going anywhere for a while ☹️ I’m sure Twinks will like it. I hope she does anyway, because I’m smitten 😍 Thanks again my friend. Take care up there and keep safe and warm 👍🏼
@@Saddlebags73 I understand, the novelty of loud pipes might wear off after a short while, mine have a nice deep rumble while riding but are quite quiet on tick over or revved at a standstill. I'd imagine the components are much the same on each model just larger bores on the bigger engines. There's a Vulcan owners/riders group n the UK which organises events and is linked to the international one. You can join free for a month which I did but I haven't fully subscribed yet. I'm sure Twinks will love the smoothness, comfort and safety it offers, especially on long rides. Is yours very light on the steering? Mine seems overly easy to turn it's front wheel which takes a bit of self control at slow speeds. It could be tyre pressure as I also noticed it didn't like uneven roads where patches or striations were evident. I did have mine set higher than the recommended 30psi. I haven't messed with the air shocks, there's a very good video on UA-cam about filling them, it's a very small bladder so much care is needed.
@@greywolf9292 I can’t say I’ve noticed the steering being light, but I really haven’t had much time on it. But it really doesn’t like uneven road surfaces though. In fact it feels awful. I’ll get to understand things more over time. At the moment I’m quite wet behind the ears with anything ‘cruiser’ 🤣
@@Saddlebags73 I noticed when you duck paddled your way out of that muddy road siding how much of a lock was in the front wheel. This may be why when going slow and turning tight I tend to over steer almost causing the bike to topple. It is I believe this looseness at the front which causes the front wheel to skip and judder with uneven roads. There was an issue with the steering bearings with these bikes which I assumed meant they stiffened? Anyhow, like yourself I have had too little time on the bike to familiarise myself with its differences. The heal toe gear changing and high rear brake pedal take some getting used to on their own.
@@greywolf9292 I really haven’t ridden it enough to have clue. I adapted quite quickly to the heel toe changer. The brake pedal is a different story. That feels really awkward. I’m sure I’ll get used to it though.
Nice one. I really like Nomads. Kawasaki got it right when they designed and built these. This bike will really look good when it gets warm and you can run without the barn door windshield. I’d recommend a kidney belt if you intend to ride distances on this. My back won’t tolerate cruisers anymore. With the limited ground clearance and the crash bars, you probably won’t be able to drop this bike so far that it can’t be righted. Just take everything with some patience and the bike’s weight shouldn’t overwhelm you. Im puzzled by the comment of it being unsteady at high speeds. There’s no inherent design issue that make it unsuitable at higher speeds. As long as it’s roadworthy it should cruise at high speeds all day.
Many thanks. I’m smitten with it so I really hope the other half approves. I find it really comfy but longer rides may change my opinion. Once rolling it doesn’t feel too heavy, I just need to think before I park. It’s nice to just plod around on. I find fast bikes encourage bad behaviour, and I’m trying to be good. I’ll admit to being wet behind the ears when it comes to cruisers. This is my first, and the first time I’ve used a heel toe shifter. I adapted to that easily, but the rear brake pedal feels odd. I’m looking forward to the Spring when I can clock some decent miles up. Thanks again 👍🏼
I’ve had several cruisers, from 750cc to 1800. I’ll admit the 750’s were more manageable and fun. However, the inherent design limitations of slow-reving V twins means you do need a larger capacity bike to ride two up. The smaller bikes run out of steam and gears at higher speeds. 1200cc to 1500cc is the sweet spot for me.
Lovely looking bike SB, and I reckon it'll suit you both on long runs. I'd love to have a big cruiser in the Cave, but realistically I don't think my back would be up to it. If you ever come up here to the Peak District on it, it'd fit right in, parked in Matlock Bath! Nice acquisition all the same. Cheers. 👍
Thank you kindly sir. I’m fairly sure it’ll be comfy for Twinks. Will just have to see how my back copes with it. It seems good on short rides. So Matlock Bath is where the Black Widows hang out? 🤣
Looks great and a itch will definitely be scratched keep the exhaust sounds fantastic and she’s a Motorway / A roads , long distance bike you have the Witch for the Cornish lanes and remember Don’t borgort that joint my friend 😃😃👍
Thanks AR! I absolutely love the sound from the pipes, but it’s just a bit too much. After 20-30 minutes the drone in the helmet starts getting tiresome. I imagine over a long ride it would become torturous, and Twinks and I wouldn’t be able to communicate via the comms (maybe a good thing 🤣). Hahaa cheers my friend 🙂👍🏼
340kg dry, that's heavier than some cars. It's a big change from Nikita, and I wasn't expecting you to go full cruiser mode. A bike like that would be no good for me, I'd never be able to keep it clean. Hope you enjoy it though.
I am a fan of big cruisers and love the colour. You could get the 2000 cc version in the UK but I think the 1500 is better looking. I had V &H exhausts on my first Shadow 1100 and they are loud?!
Thanks Haxan! This is my first cruiser and so far I’m smitten with it. Ah I didn’t realise you could get the 2000cc here, obviously. They must be even rarer. I love the sound and it would be a shame to quieten it down. I’m concerned it’ll take the character away, but it’s a bit too much. Thanks again 👍🏼
@@Saddlebags73 I think your orange VN is pretty rare? I have never seen that colour on a VN and I have been riding bikes for 33 years, with an interest in cruisers and customs especially. Although I now ride a Scram 411 as I wanted a change from cruisers.
@@haxan6663 Oh, that’s nice to know. I must say, I joined an owners FB page and haven’t seen another orange one on there yet. Enjoy the Scram, I love my lil Himalayan 🙂👍🏼
Change of pace for sure from Nikita! Looks like a solid piece of motorbike, though, great sound and lovely colour too! Definitely more suited to 2 up touring than poor old Nikita! 😆 Hope it all goes well with [insert new bike's name when it gets one]!
It certainly is a change of pace. I like it, it’s like Ernie, on steroids 🤣 I forgot all about the name. It’ll be announced in a couple of weeks 👍🏼 Many thanks Bullet 🙏🏻
Thanks! I do absolutely love the sound. I’m pretty sure it would get too much on long rides, and it wouldn’t be great for trips out with the other half. Trouble is, it probably wouldn’t seem right with quiet pipes after hearing it like this 🤷🏻♂️ what a pickle 🤣
Well, that's quite a different cup of tea for you, SB, but it kind of looks comfy. I think you'll have to go really careful in those Cornish lanes. Out of interest have you found out if you need shares in Shell or is the fuel consumption reasonable?
Yes Jim, radically different from anything I have ever owned. I’m loving it so far, but we’ll see how it goes on longer rides in the Spring. I don’t intend riding too many lanes on it, but I am challenging myself with finding a green lane that’s doable on it 🤪 I have no idea on mpg, but I don’t think economy was part of the criteria when Kwak built it 🥴 Thanks Jim 👍🏼
That’s not loud:) Sounds like stock pipes. Sounds good though. I’m in the US so that size and displacement is normal here and too quiet. You guys like smaller bikes:) If you like relaxed riding you will enjoy it. Get a backrest. Thanks for the video.
Any louder and it wouldn’t get through the MOT test. It’s been advised on every year (kind of a warning). They’re V&H open, didn’t quite make my ears bleed but still pretty noisy 🤣 Smaller bikes do make more sense in this part of the world. In fact I sold this one because it was so impractical. I did enjoy it though, lovely bike on the open roads, there just aren’t enough of them in my area. Oh, yes a backrest would work without doubt. Many thanks Duke 👍🏼
Looks wonderful. Now this is something new in your stable. :) I think that you did not mention it... how many miles it has now? You got my like and I am curiously waiting for a two up review. p.s. Drop by in the evening if you can. :)
It’s an amazing machine, and I’m smitten with it. Not perfect but still beautiful. It’s on 16’000 miles, low for the age. I’m really looking forward to trying it two up. Many thanks RRR, will see you later 👍🏼
It’s quite different eh 🤣 The Pan is remarkable two up, and I imagine the Deauville does a good job too. But hopefully Twinks likes this one 🤞🏼 Many thanks TMB 🙂👍🏼
Blimey wasn't expecting that but congratulations on the new bike. Hasn't Paddy Outback got something similar in Australia? Would think it will be a great pillion machine. Looks in beautiful condition. Black Widows 🤣🤣
It’s a bit of a shocker isn’t it 🤣 Yes Paddy has a meanstreak, which I think is a similar thing with no screen or pillion seat (maybe). It looks better on camera than it does in the flesh. It isn’t bad by any means, but I have some polishing to do 🤦🏻♂️ Thanks Bandit 🙂👍🏼
Thanks Mister Dave. It does sound lovely, but just too much. I think Twinks will like it and that this is the start of a long and meaningful relationship 🙂
Thank you for watching. I wish I could tell you but I’m sorry to say I have no idea. I sold the bike on as it was just too impractical for the majority of my rides. It was a lovely ride though. It was carb’d but that’s all I really know. Good luck 👍🏼
Now my friend , you have got a fine motorbike , that should get you , and your "Bag Lady" about just fine . That is my favorite metric bagger , next to the Honda Touring Shadow series of machines . It is sad that Honda , Suzuki , Kawasaki , and Yamaha all dropped their "Heavy Cruiser" line of machines . If I could not have my Harley-Davidson bikes , I would most likely have Yamaha's as I owned in the past , 1900 c c engines were beasts . I would love to have a flock , or gaggle of RE's , and a spider tattoo , so I could be a "Black Widow" , or a Master Of Menace , another great movie by the way , I double dog dare you to watch . It is good like Stone , and some others , but funny . Cheers my pal , stay safe .
Thank you kindly sluf. It’s my first cruiser and haven’t even ridden one before. I have nothing to compare it to, but I love it so far. I’m really looking forward to taking bag lady (🤣) out on it in the Spring. I’m not sure about the tattoo, but I might just have to 🤣 I haven’t heard of Master of Menace, but I’ll look out for it. Thanks again my friend, all the best. 👍🏼
Thanks Peter. I realise bikes like this are a bit marmite, and you won’t be alone there. I still have the ST. It’s going to be a reluctant sale as it’s such a great bike. I’ll probably keep it until Spring when the MOT expires. Then I’ll sell with a fresh ticket.
I just to go on record that the video where I'm mentioning you was made before you purchased this bike.😄😄 I love that color but you have to get a license plate about half the size. I'll have to admit you surprised me a lot not with a purchase but the choice. What did Ernie thinks about it?
Oh I haven’t seen that yet, I do apologise. I’ll be catching up soon though. I hope I haven’t thrown a spanner in your works 🤣 Sadly license plates any smaller are illegal here, and it’s easy money for the authorities if I fit a smaller one 😢 They are like barn doors aren’t they 🤷🏻♂️ Ernie still outshines this one, so he’s quite happy 🙂 Many thanks Flat Cap. See you in your comment section soon 👍🏼
Ah such a wonderful racket 😎 I traded the bike in for something very different last October (650 V-Strom). As much as I loved the Nomad it was just too much of a lump for the majority of my riding. Gravel car parks were concerning, range was short and it was just impractical. Bloody gorgeous though. Many thanks!
@@Saddlebags73 Yeah, I'm next to Lyon near the Alps so we've got some cracking roads here. And I'm also selling my ST1100! I've got a couple of other bikes and just don't use the Pan very often. So why not something totally dedicated to Sunday riding? We'll see...
Congratulations buddy, that’s a proper cruiser 🤘 I’m going to miss the Pan European but definitely think you’ve made a good buy 👏 Ahh don’t be embarrassed by the pipes, I think they’re bloody awesome 😎 EAGLE SPIRIT 😎 ahah noooo don’t sell it, it’s so cool 😂 Can’t wait to see more videos on the Vulcan mate. I hope you’re well bud, stay safe 🤘
Ah thanks Rhythmic, I’m smitten. the Pan is hell of a bike but not nearly cheesy enough 🤣 The pipes sound wonderful, just slightly too wonderful. It would be nice to tone them down a little bit, but not too much. Just so that long rides aren’t torturous. Thanks again mate, hope all is good for you too 👍🏼
Nice one SB congratulations on your new stead I was looking at the 1700cc one 2010 black and sliver one for a replacement after the bmw was stolen. Looking forward to see what you think of the bike I do mis my 1100cc virago 👍🙏
I like that Brits are capable of being a bit embarrassed driving about on loud pipes, whereas in America guys revel in “neighbor haters”. It does say something about neighborliness and community in the respective countries. I got a Vulcan drifter with stock pipes and more I ride it more I love it, year after year.
Well, it looks to me that we all need to change a bike type once in a while ;) Till 2017 I was mostly riding cruisers claiming they are perfect long-distance tourers... but then I tried sth else and fell in love again ;) Same thing I done last year :D Anyways... for sure it sounds nice and rides like a tank ;) And as long as you don't expect to ride it fast - the position should be fine. It's only problematic over 70mph. At least to me.
It’s my first taste of cruiser, and so far I love it. I find it really comfy but longer rides will give me a better idea. No, I don’t want to ride fast. Some bikes provoke me, but this one makes me want to take my time. Hopefully Twinks likes it and this is the beginning of a long and meaningful relationship. Many thanks Uncle 🙂✌🏼
I love it, what a beast of a cruiser. Twinx is gonna feel a million dollars with that backrest. Looks stunning in that colour. I dis have a little panic attack when you parked all that chrome on a muddy path between 2 dirty puddles 🤢 Scary that the engine is almost twice the size of my harley 🤣
Thanks Weston. I really hope she likes it, because I’m smitten 😍 Haha don’t panic, it stayed clean. I am going to challenge myself with finding a green lane that’s doable on it though 🤣 Ah it ain’t scary, it’s tractor power 🙂 When we going cruisin’? 😁
those pipes = if there is a centre hole or one can be made , then a piece of pipe put in with some holes or hacksaw cuts then pressed on one side of the cut will shut it up without too much loss of power , = and costs little ..
Thanks for the suggestion. I don’t need to worry about it until Spring, and then only if hers happy on it, which I suspect her will be. And if that’s the case I’ll look into that 👍🏼
apart from any other consideration, I just couldn`t be cleaning that bike, lifes too short. They only really look good when fully polished up. I do like the idea though, maybe hire one and give it back when dirty.
Well, it’s certainly different isn’t it 🤣 Hahaa yes picking this one up would be a struggle. I might not take it in the green lanes 🤪 Many thanks Louis 🙏🏻👍🏼
I've ridden so many beautiful cruiser-style bikes that were ruined by the grossly loud exhausts. The absolute worst is when they are tuned improperly, and make those horrific popping sounds on deceleration.
Ummmmmm! I'm not sure what to say.... 😳 Perhaps it'll all come together once you've got your leather waistcoat, shades and bandana! Plenty of torque to power you up the 'steps anyway 😉🤪
🤣🤣🤣 I knew it wouldn’t be your cuppa tea, and it almost put me off buying it 🤪 You’d enjoy seeing in the green lanes though wouldn’t you? That would make a good vid 🤔🤦🏻♂️😋
Kawasaki Nomad is one of my favorite big displacement bikes. Keep the videos coming! Ride safe👍
I do like it. Many thanks UD 👍🏼
I can’t say I know much about VN’s, but I’m sure this one won’t get 250 out of a tank 🥴
Thanks CMD 👍🏼
I had a 2006 Kawasaki Vulcan VN900 when I had afemale to ride with me. Mine was belt drive, silver with stock exhaust. I did 4 legs of 1,000 miles and had to have The Pro Pad to keep my butt from complaining on long rides. Happy for ya buddy.
Very nice MAMRE. I’m yet to see how it feels on long trips. As long as Twinks is comfy, I should be ok 🙂👍🏼
a great nice looking bike for sure
Thanks DV, I’m smitten 🙂👍🏼
My neighbour just picked up one of these as an addition to his 1953 BSA A7, something he can just hop on and start without having to fart around tickling carbies and such. It sounds fantastic (after market pipes and all) and looks a treat. If I bought a Vulcan I reckon I'd have to call it Mr Spock.
It’s a great bike, lovely to ride. I’m besotted at the moment 🤣
Yea Mr Spock would work 🤣👏🏼👍🏼
Thank you 😊
I started on a Yamaha V Star.
Well, that's quite a departure! Interesting choice between the Pan and the VN.
Looking forward to more Vulcan content 👍
Worlds apart eh NooB. Loving it so far though.
Many thanks 🙂👍🏼
Congratulations on the new bike, big bold and noisy!!
Thanks Mark! Yes, a bit too noisy. I’m smitten with it though 😍🙂👍🏼
The Pan European was good practice 🤣
Many thanks for watching and your input 👍🏼🙂
One year, cannot remember when, my wife and I took a demo ride on the Vulcan 2000. It was actually as heavy as some full dressed touring models. I thought that for its size it handled quite well. I didn't push my luck on it but I could ride it at a somewhat brisk pace.
Yes it feels fine once rolling. As long as I think before parking, it should be ok.
Thanks ironcast 👍🏼
Sweet!! The Tangerine Dream!
Does she have a name?
Sure I saw a window fall out as you rode past! 😉
I forgot to mention the name 🤦🏻♂️ It’ll be revealed in a couple of weeks.
Hahaa yes, and I noticed the next day all the bridges I crossed were closed for repairs 🥴
Thanks Flapjack 👍🏼
Although she's loud, on camera it sounds really good, and looks really good too. It will be good for you and the channel I think.
I'll look forward to the naming ceremony.
Ahh she sounds gorgeous, but it’s just a bit too much isn’t it. The constant drone becomes tiresome after 20-30 minutes, so after a long ride I imagine it would be torture. Hopefully it doesn’t lose its character with quieter pipes, assuming I keep her.
It’s less of a naming ceremony and more of an afterthought 🤦🏻♂️
Thanks ER 🙂👍🏼
Congratulations on the new bike. They are a very underatted bike. Love the colour.
Thanks ROO, I’m smitten with it 🙂👍🏼
Not a bike I was expecting to see you on!!
The pipes really do sound amazing, but yea, just too much 😢

Hi there, thank you so much. I’m smitten with it. I can’t wait until Spring when I can start putting some miles on her. Thanks again and take care out there 🙂👍🏼
I've always admired those big, torquey (isn't that in Devon?) V twins. I just haven't come to terms with cruisers yet. I really should try one. Fantastic colour and sound. Hope she turns out to be right for you.
Yes that’s Devon 🤣
They never used to turn me on, but I’m loving it so far. It does sound lovely and it’ll be a shame to quieten it down, but it’s no good for any more than 20 minutes. I don’t think my neighbours are impressed either 🥴
Thanks Paul 🙂👍🏼

Best of luck with her me ansum, Tango looks good and sounds proper.
Thanks Janner! Tango actually came to mind when thinking of a name 🙂
I had a VN 1500 Classic Tourer which, apart from the colour, looked identical. I loved it, but due to being unable to find someone to do a trike conversion without losing the Saddlebags, I very reluctantly parted company with it.
Ah that’s a shame. Yes they really are beautiful bikes. I sold this one as it just wasn’t suitable for the majority of my rides, but I do miss it.
A very fine looking beast.
Vance and Hines are incredibly loud. The video audio doesn't do it much justice, but event the rumble is wonderful to listen to. :)
Thanks Uncle Red! Ah it does sound amazing, but just a bit too much. I’m concerned the bike will lose its character with quiet pipes. We shall see 👍🏼
What a beast, what a sound 😊 Love it. Can’t wait to see more.😊 right turn Clyde 😂😂
Happy new bike. So there may well be a beast on Bodmin Moor, eh? 😀
Hahaa, I might have to use that 🤣

Good bikes, but they have everything I don't like attached. Chrome bars, fixed hard bags, floorboards, heel shifter, huge windscreen,, massive seat.... I guess it's all up to rider preferences. Enjoy your new ride !! :)
Hahaa that’s fair enough. I actually used to scoff at bikes like this, but they grew on me over the last few years. Cheers Randy 👍🏼

My first cruiser, and so far I’m smitten with it. However Ernie the Classic 500 is still, and probably always will be my favourite.
I’m not I the market for the BSA, but I do like the look of them. I hope they’re successful, after getting off to a bad start with their marketing.

However, loud pipes save lives! Embrace them.

Happy cruising to you and Twinks. 🤘
Ah yes the meanstreak is a very similar beast. And yep, I don’t economy was on the criteria when Kawasaki built these 🥴

@Saddlebags 73 I must admit I'm not quite used to my quiet stock pipes on my vulcan s. I can hold a conversation without comms at the lights now. Very strange. 🤣 my daughter does prefer it. And I guess our hearing too.

It was extremely comfortable and a gorgeous bike. I moved it on but only because it didn’t suit the roads I ride most of the time.
@Saddlebags73 I hear you on that. It's no doubt a big bike. I also have an 18 kawasaki versys x 300 that I purchased new. I find myself on that bike more than any other. It's light, and the seating position is very easy on the body. Check it out it's great for the tight roads.

Hi mate, I've got a 98 1500 nomad with full standard exhaust, let me know if you sell or swap your pipes.
Ok I will let you know. I’m reluctant to take them off but will see how it goes in the coming months 👍🏼
Pasties and cream teas 🤦🏻♂️
Definitely a dry day bike, and it’s going nowhere for a while now, with all the salt on the roads.
I hope Twinks likes it too, because I’m smitten with it 😍

Temps have dropped dramatically since filming this, so the Nomad and the Classic 500 won’t be going anywhere for a while ☹️
I’m sure Twinks will like it. I hope she does anyway, because I’m smitten 😍
Thanks again my friend.
Matlock Bath?....oh yeah, and they're bad mothers.... really bad!😲 🤣🤣
@@Saddlebags73 Your very welcome SB and you are right :) I put Reverse Cones on my Bonneville and they only lasted one ride 😊😊👍
Expensive experiment 🥴
340kg dry, that's heavier than some cars. It's a big change from Nikita, and I wasn't expecting you to go full cruiser mode. A bike like that would be no good for me, I'd never be able to keep it clean. Hope you enjoy it though.
It’s a contrast isn’t it…a very heavy contrast. I love it though. I foresee repetitive strain injury from all the polishing 🤦🏻♂️
Thanks EMA 👍🏼
I like it, it’s like Ernie, on steroids 🤣
I forgot all about the name. It’ll be announced in a couple of weeks 👍🏼
Many thanks Bullet 🙏🏻
My nomad won’t go past 80 mph is there a speed limiter or something??
Sorry, I don’t actually know. I sold mine but can’t remember if I ever went over 80 🤷🏻♂️
Keep the pipes ! Sound beautiful 😍
@@Saddlebags73 look forward to seeing/hearing your choice SB 👍👌😅🏍
Cheers 🙂👍🏼
Well, that's quite a different cup of tea for you, SB, but it kind of looks comfy.
I think you'll have to go really careful in those Cornish lanes.
Out of interest have you found out if you need shares in Shell or is the fuel consumption reasonable?
Yes Jim, radically different from anything I have ever owned. I’m loving it so far, but we’ll see how it goes on longer rides in the Spring.
I don’t intend riding too many lanes on it, but I am challenging myself with finding a green lane that’s doable on it 🤪
I have no idea on mpg, but I don’t think economy was part of the criteria when Kwak built it 🥴
Thanks Jim 👍🏼

@@Saddlebags73 Hahahaha. Good luck mate.
Many thanks Duke 👍🏼

p.s. Drop by in the evening if you can. :)
It’s an amazing machine, and I’m smitten with it. Not perfect but still beautiful. It’s on 16’000 miles, low for the age.

The Pan is remarkable two up, and I imagine the Deauville does a good job too. But hopefully Twinks likes this one 🤞🏼

It isn’t bad by any means, but I have some polishing to do 🤦🏻♂️

Big Vulcans are cool 😎
It’s very cool. Totally impractical for where I live, but so cool 😎
Better than a Harley in my uneducated opinion. I'm looking forward to seeing it in person.
It’s like a Harley with reliability 🫢🤣 Hopefully anyway. Cheers Adam 👍🏼

I’m not sure about the tattoo, but I might just have to 🤣
I haven’t heard of Master of Menace, but I’ll look out for it. Thanks again my friend, all the best. 👍🏼

I like that Brits are capable of being a bit embarrassed driving about on loud pipes, whereas in America guys revel in “neighbor haters”. Ive got one in Australia.
I sold this one as it was just too bulky for most of my riding. Amazing bike though and I bet it’s great in your part of the world.
I find it really comfy but longer rides will give me a better idea.

those pipes = if there is a centre hole or one can be made , then a piece of pipe put in with some holes or hacksaw cuts then pressed on one side of the cut will shut it up without too much loss of power , = and costs little ..
