I bought my 2001 Nomad 1500 Fi with only 12,000 miles on it, from a dealer I might add, for only $2800! Compared to the cheapest Road King I could find at the time which was a 1999 RK with 70,000 miles for $6000. It's been a great bike so far!
I just bought a 2004 nomad 1500 from my mom. It was my late stepfathers bike. Lived it's entire life in a storage unit. I'm not lying, the bike had all of 97 miles on it. I just got my endorsement, and this is my first ever bike. I love it so far, I'm just learning and getting comfortable with it.

I have the 2007 1600 Nomad with now over 85,000 miles on it. It is a wonderful bike to ride. All day comfortable. Hit start, it just runs. The 5.2 gallon tank gets me close to 180 miles. I have the driver backrest. With the air adjustable suspension, with my daughter on the back and the air up around max, people in the group I ride with are impressed with how it can go through corners. It is planted and stable. I did replace the Meep horn with an Air horn. The one thing I did have to get replaced was the steering head bearing. Very quickly it developed a "notch" in the center. Local dealership changed it out for a different version of bearing and 60,000 later it is still perfect.
@@chaoticadventure The max according to the manual psi was 41-42 unloaded. Two up, with gear, with damping set to max made it a stout ride, but was very stable in the twisties and did not sag if you hit a bump in a turn.
Through the years I've had two 2001 Nomad 1500 FI's, and I loved them both. They were always one of my favorite bikes to ride. I bought my first one new, and sold it at 65,000+ miles to buy a GoldWing. After a couple of years on the GoldWing I missed my Nomad so much that I found and bought a used 2001 Nomad FI that was the same color as my first one. I added a travel trunk from a Voyager 12 to it, and ended up riding it more than the GoldWing! The second one had really low miles when I bought it; and it had about 70,000 when I finally sold it. These days, I'm still on a Nomad...... a 1700 with a CSC trike kit on it. Love to ride those "Big Cows" (Kaws) !!!
I have a 2008 nomad 1600 and was thinking maybe upgrade to the voyager for the full dresser or even a used Yamaha star venture. Are you saying that is a bad idea?
Sean, I bought a 1996 Vulcan classic a month and a half ago & I now regret that. The bike is a remod and alot of hardware is either loose or stripped. It leaks oil like a sieve in many places and has some electrical issues. Well I went looking for another Vulcan & I found a real beauty. A 1999 Vulcan Nomad in immaculate condition. Well taken care of by the original owner and the guy I'm about to buy from. I do have to change the bars because they are just like the handlebar in this video (too close to beach bars which I don't care for). Overall the bike I'm about to buy is a great ride and a real beauty. I'll be keeping it for quite some time.
I have a 2001 Kawasaki Vulcan Nomad 1500 Fi. Just got back ftom road trip from east Tennessee to Hot Springs AR and I got 45 mpg. Now has 80,558 miles. I've owned it since 2002 (bought it used and had 5,500 miles) I love it.
Love my 2004 Nomad. Purchased it in June 2006 with 12,000 miles, from a 70 year old man who rode it to California, Nevada, Arizona, New Mexico and to Houston Texas to see his family. When he left Texas to ride back to Oregon he went North to Sturgis S.D., Montana, Idaho and finally back to Oregon. He never rode it much after his trip to Texas. Sold it to me two years later. Since then I have ridden it all over Oregon, Washington and Idaho. The last 4 years I have only ridden 600 mi. I love the bike it keeps up with the Harleys on steep mountain passes, even passing them. Has 35,000 on it now. Still looks almost new.
Vulcan is a GREAT budget line across the board. Relatively simple maintenance, easy upgrades and a solid look. Yea a bit lacking on power compared to top muscle bikes (even with aftermarket extras) but it's plenty powerful.
I tell folk if they want a fast bike, a cruiser is the worst place to begin, start with a four cylinder at least. But if you want comfort for a longer ride a cruiser could be just the ticket.
Had a 97' Voyager I picked up for only $500 Changed tires/gas/oil n it ran like a champ! And loved the shaft drive too!! Wish more bikes were shaft...😔
Power is relevant I been mounted on Flatheads, Pans and Shovels until I got the two Harley twin cams. (I sold them both) and they had way more power and speed over my 72 FLH. I was actually looking at a Nomad since I sold this last 02 FLSTC I have $6.200.00 to spend. I may go look at one I saw for sale. the cool part is it a 2003 with 21.000 on it for $3.500.00 with hard bags new windshield and tires. I don't know beans about Japaneses bikes I have always had Harley's and original Indians but at 67 I am not too old to learn.

I had a 2000 ‘ NoMad 1500CC 4 Valves per Cylinder, two spark Plugs per cylinder. Electronic ignition , 750 pounds five or take wet . It handled the same at 30 mph as it did at 80 mph . . The handling is Awesome ! As you say very comfortable. 12.0 Seconds in a 1/4 mile . I never should have sold mine . I sold the nomad for a Road King . Kept the Nomad for one year to the day . Nice two tone paint job on the Nomad . The only negative on the Nomad is the over flow tank for the liquid cooling is under the seat . There was more then once where I had to stop the bike and get off the seat because my behind was burning 🥵. The other negative it didn’t have very good fuel economy, so you didn’t have long range . Compared to the 2002 Road King I bought I got 200 miles . With a solid 50 miles to the gallon of gas .
Not sure if they fixed it during any model year, but Nomads suffer from bad cam chain tensioners that allow the chain to eventually wear through the cylinder wall. Other than that they're great bikes.
A bit late to the party here but the loose chains wear through the spark plug tubes (not the cylinders) and is easily fixed with cam chain tensioner extenders.
Not so much a choke on fuel injection bikes. It's really a "High idle". With electronic fuel injection, the ECU adjusts the fuel/air flow mix while the engine is cold.
Only common issue is the constant smell of burning coolant. It’s all good though. You just have to replace the coolant hose clamps. If you do a stage one upgrade to these bikes it’s night and day difference in performance
I’ve had a 2003 1500 nomad and a 2000 1500 classic and in my opinion I like the classic more. A good set of pipes and a windshield and back rest is all you need for a cross country trip. I currently own a 1999 Kawasaki Vulcan Nomad 1500 Carbureted. One huge issue you have to look out for from 1999 years and back is the oil gear. Kawasaki implemented a plastic oil gear in the older Nomads and Vulcans that inevitably go bad and can cause engine damage and serious loss of oil pressure, eventually leading to no oil pressure lol. There are metal gears available but they're expensive. It cost about $900 to get mine fixed when my engine started that dreaded metallic clanking.
So in a moment of confusion I bought a 1991 GSXR750 Tricked out beyond belief, but a death trap to someone like me so I watched your recommendations and began to focus on a Gold Wing. I started looking and found a 1 owner 1996 1500 SE Jewel!!! I'll never not own one until its time to hang up the MC keys altogether. Ive had nearly every kind of bike and I'm comfortable being in my comfortable zone now. Thanks for your vids, I would have NEVER even looked to the GW and quite possibly hung the keys up prematurely. BTW if I can find the correct 05' this winter, I'll be player for it. Thanks again Bruddah.

Howdyyawl from the land down under. I own a 2002 VN Vulcan 1500cc. It's fantastic to ride & very smooth. More power when you need it. People say Harley Davidson is better, I beg to differ. Keeping it real 😊

Love this channel!! Information is spot on..but the words of wisdom really..really makes it great!!! A tip of the lid to Sean and the crew at SRK Cycles!!
I have the 1999 Nomad. I chose it over that sixteen point injection. Why? It just felt better on the roll. Not so responsive that it would pull a wheel ie and frankly cruising around on a 1500 I really don't want to do it, this bike is not made for that. Yeah she likes gas but still cheaper than filling up my truck. I've had several cruising bikes. I'm not going to say this is my favorite but it's hard to beat a GoldWing. She isn't light either, over 700lbs and I'm 5'10 at two hundred and I have to watch how I go in anywhere to park. Most of the time I look for a little rise to pull up on then just let my clutch out to back it up, like I said over 700lbs of deadweight. Would I recommend this bike? Yes I would even for a beginner cruiser. Just don't be intimidated buy it's size. Once your rolling she handles like an 800. As far as it being better than a Harley, I don't know. My friends ride Harley and always on me about getting one. But to tell you the truth I can buy three Nomads for the price of one Harley. Yeah it's not the same. I go to rallies and people tell me it's nice but not the same and I just say yeah I'm more of a leader than a follower. I believe if you bought one, gave it a month you would be good to go. They are sweet bikes, large motors and have enough power for a good run.
Had a VT1100 for 4 years. Might be the most comfortable ride i ever had. Daily driver, never any problems. Bought it with 2800 miles on it and traded it in with 57000.
My dad owns a vulcan classic 1500, as did my step mom, so I bought one for my first bike, they both never had any issues with their bikes....mine must have been built on a friday because it's been nothing but one issue after another.....I guess it goes to show that you never can tell....
People get to hung up on brand names and metric vrs Harley Davidson. The truth is they ALL make great reliable machines. 99% of the time it's the owner who causes the issue, whether it be maintence neglect or abuse. The worst thing is sitting around and not getting used lol. In regard to your Vulcan 1500....they got a lot of age on them now and things will go wrong,.especially if it's been sitting a long time. Being water cooled they have more things that csn go wrong and need fixing than a Harley.. Just gotta work the bugs out the best you can and catch up on any neglected maintanence 👍. I bought a 2008 Vulcan 1600 last year that had 11k miles on it. 11k miles in 12 years means it's sat quite a lot. But so far so good. Not had to fix or do anything to it at all. But the 2 Harleys I had for nearly 20 years never had any issues either. They are all just machines and sometimes they get cranky lol. Best of luck to ya man
@@JohnnyRebKy mine was 5 years old when I bought it with 25k miles on it. I changed all the fluids have done all the scheduled (And non scheduled) maintenance but it’s still been one issue after another. Like I said my bike must have passed through the quality control department at 3pm on a Friday. Or the previous owner just beat the crap out of it for 25k miles. I know one thing for sure. I no longer place any faith or trust in all the old stereotypes of bikes. I approach it more like. “Let’s hope she’s a good bike!” Because who knows?

Thanks for all the advice I'm looking into riding and your channel builds my interest by the video.
That being a 2000 it still has the plastic oil gear. they tend to strip out as the mileage goes up and starve the engine of oil. 2001 plus have a metal oil gear.
I believe there was a recall to replace the plastic oil pump gear. I don't know what Kawi was thinking, but manufacturing an oil pump gear out of plastic was just stupid.
I owned a vn 1600 1 problem they do have - is a weak bevelled baring on the drive shaft when it let's go boils the clutch basket - the first sighn of this complaint is the cluch becomes very soft
Ride what you have. "Better" is subjective but come on - you can hate on Harley but "they hate us 'cause they ain't us" applies. Harley is the bike everyone wants even when they say they don't and most would ride one but the brand demands a much higher premium and many cannot afford it. And HD has the best network of shops in the world. The closest Ducati dealer to me is over 100 miles away. Sure you can bring it to Bob's cycle where he works on 10 different brands in a week - Jack of all trades master of none!

Looks to be a beautiful motorcycle and I'll bet it rides smooth as silk would love to get on one of those Nomads and take it for a nice long cruise.
_When you roll into town on a Nomad with Side Zipper Gloves and Side Zipper Boots, just screams in a french accent,_
*_"I'm here to make LOVE to your entire Family"_*
Ya'll need to try and find a "Yamaha Eluder" and take a look at it. I just picked one up. It's a SICK bike!!
Oooooooooo tell me about it. I’ve been looking at them
Howdyyawl from the land down under. I own a 2002 VN Vulcan 1500cc. It's fantastic to ride & very smooth. More power when you need it. People say Harley Davidson is better, I beg to differ. Keeping it real 😊
I think they had the high idle because they lacked O2 sensors. Without the O2 sensor the system couldn't regulate the air fuel mixture.
I have an 04 1500 nomad no idle issues or anything out of it. 37,000 miles love the bike.
I rolled one of them... a black an crome one... 80 to a 100 to Mississippi from la..
How many gears? I kind of presume 5, because it wasn't mentioned. My '97 Classic with a carburetor only shifts 3 times up from 1st.
It's a 6spd... usually Japanese bikes above 750s have 6th gear..i have a 99 shadow Ace 750 5spd
My dad has a 01 Shadow ace and it's a 6...sorry 1100cc and it's a 00 1/2
@@bansheemania1692 ... You have written nonsense. I recommend withdrawing it and researching before trying to sound informed. 1200 Shadow!! SMH.
@@bansheemania1692 you are wrong my Honda 1800 has a 5 speed never heard of a 1200 shadow either lol
bansheemania actually I’m pretty sure most are 5 speed. With a handful of more recent having 6

1 year ago: "Why the kawasaki nomad sucks"🤦♂️😅👍
That just means the Road King REALLY sucks.
Love this channel!! Information is spot on..but the words of wisdom really..really makes it great!!!
A tip of the lid to Sean and the crew at SRK Cycles!!
Hi bro nice stuff as always🇦🇺👍
My giant VN2OOO eats tyres nearly 20yrs old still looks GREAT 🇦🇺
that 98 metallic green color was the best. icing on that kawi cake.
Hydraulic Clutch i Noticed..Stock?
Yes it comes stock like that.
Have the Same bars on my Shadows...Love Them
Yes i love my backrest to.
Had a VT1100 for 4 years. Might be the most comfortable ride i ever had. Daily driver, never any problems. Bought it with 2800 miles on it and traded it in with 57000.
I have an 04 nomad great bike but a 6th gear on the 1500 would be COOL
I like this bike you like all motorcycles I like the fact that it only has one fuel filler cap and not not the dummy cap on the other side
Nice Tail of the Dragon shout out!
4 bikes and a Caddy on your website. Where's your inventory Sean?
I love my 2001 Kawasaki Vulcan Nomad. I put it on the road as much as possible. 😊
Just picked up a 2011 nomad 1700 last week. So ready to ride it. Work is in the way! 😑
Head gaskets, 3rd gear lost, 4 staters went out, clutch replaced 4 times, until the bevel gear box gave out! 2001 Kawi Nomad with 110, 000 miles.
Ive recently started looking at the Ducati monster as a possible purchase in the future, hoping for some opinions on the bike.
You need to ask yourself if you can afford the maintenance on a ducati. Apparently some of the services cost thousands.
Anything is better than a Harley
What would you say is the value of a 2002 Vulcan 1500 now? I have a chance to buy one but not sure. It would be my first bike.
Hey man really appreciate your channel and that you incorporate the best book in the world in all your videos. ✊🏾 Totally random i know, but is there a way you could get your hands on a "Zero Motorcycle" and review one for us? Thanks for all the advice I'm looking into riding and your channel builds my interest by the video.
I can’t believe this thing was actually a 6 speed. Way ahead of its time. I wish my Honda VTX 1800 had a 6 speed.
It’s only a 5 speed
That being a 2000 it still has the plastic oil gear. they tend to strip out as the mileage goes up and starve the engine of oil. 2001 plus have a metal oil gear.
I believe there was a recall to replace the plastic oil pump gear.
I don't know what Kawi was thinking, but manufacturing an oil pump gear out of plastic was just stupid.
I owned a vn 1600 1 problem they do have - is a weak bevelled baring on the drive shaft when it let's go boils the clutch basket - the first sighn of this complaint is the cluch becomes very soft
Great bike I use to have one years ago, now I own a 1996 Vulcan 88 1500cc's great bikes....
I'm looking at one is these bikes a good buy?
You convinced me! Bought the rokform phone mount! Why is your bike inventory so low right now? All sold?
2000 and up no major issues. 1999 and older has a plastic oil gear which is notorious. Love my Vulcan.
When did the 1600 come out
Why SRK cycle inventory is so low
Ram mount quick release claw best in my opinion. 80mph 25mph wind didn't shake it
Tackform beats them all...I've tried.
Very smart Buy. Dependable Ride AND Great INFO.😎🍵🍩
Saw a Kawasaki Vulcan Nomad 1500 today and they wanted 9K BZD which is 4.5k USD. Its a solid deal if you ask me.
Not sure what a Yamaha Nomad is?
I need a bike bad. Is this going to hit the website?
No it’s coming to me In Texas
Where is that chin spoiler from?
Does anyone out there know where to buy the air dam/radiator cover that this Vulcan has on it. I have a 2005 Nomad 1600cc and I really want to put an air dam on it.
Getting low on inventory! Can you make much $ on 6 bikes an one car?
I saw that too; man, it's sad...
Can you post a link to parts? The fuel line in my 2000 nomad 1500 FI has a leak
I wanted to buy a bike from you guys but there are only 4 bikes on your site. Where the bikes at??
Hey I’m 6’4 pretty slim guy no more than 190 pounds will I be comfortable on here it’s one pretty cheap by me
Plastic oil gear is a big issue on the early 1500’s
Any chance you could do a video on the old cbr1000f?
I have the same bike. The red paint on the bags faded almost to pink? Cam chain is junk at 35,000 miles. $4000 to fix it!?!? Drive it til it dies.
in 1984 I bought a 74 CB750 k for $500.00 dollars cash ! I think now a restored modified ( mine was modified race ready without the fairing ) is like $10,000.00 -$20,000.00 !
Just got one waiting on delivery 🚚
how come you guys dont put all! your bikesfor sale on your web site? i would definantly be interested in what you have..
When are you getting that shipment in? Website says only 6 bikes in inventory ;(
RoKFORm mount.. does it have foam on the clamp and in between joints and where the phone mounts to help limit vibration? I hear people using those like that it messes up the cameras on iPhones due to vibration. Curious if they integrated some vib dampener in their design
I looked at these about that year and I really liked it but it didnt have available cruise control and I didnt like the ignition switch location. Otherwise great bikes and I recommend them.
