NO! Use cloth tape. Gaffer tape will make your mic sticky. Or, use moleskin. Not gaffe tape.
Gaff tape is expensive too. I use medical tape for every application, even clothes. It's so cheap on Amazon, and at least I can safely use it on skin if required.
Just chiming in that PAPER medical tape is the best, cuz there are some med tapes that are also super sticky…
@@jmtexan77 yep, totally with you on that point!
Yes and a true concealer for the Lav 2 Please. I'm waiting for it so long.
Until then, I recommend the Bubblebee kits
@@focuspulling there's no such Bubblebee for Rode lav 2
@@Krakenborn Not fully true; Bubblebee has two main product lines: I do like (and use with my original Rode Lav) their custom rubber molded Lav Concealer products, but for especially professional concealing and fidelity, their Invisible Lav Covers are actually even more ideal for the Lav II's forward orientation - while that Lav Concealer line is inapplicable because those need an end-cap element pointing outward, not up/down. I don't expect Rode to adapt their two-barrel concealer for the Lav II because it wouldn't make sense.
But speaking of: they are still not selling extra windscreens as a separate accessory/SKU that fits the Lav II!
@@focuspulling I have the Bubblebee Invisible Lav and tbh it's not for the Rode Lav 2. The lav head is way bigger than expected making the Invisible Lav harded to hold on. So it's not the proper solution for Rode Lav 2 right now. And in real action set, you need the rubber molded concealer to really work.
Outtakes! Hooray! 👍
You're back!!! Hi friend!!!
@@mrheng562 LOL! Semi-back. Still working on it. :)
Won't the Lavalier II taped as shown pickup friction on the capsule?
Nice tips - thank you. However if you guys and all the the other current wireless mic manufactures would please stop branding every little piece of your mics with your logo or wordmark it would make our lives in the professional market so much better. That just sticks out like a neon sign and has to be covered up somehow. I do understand you want to promote your equipment but does it really need to look like a NASCAR racing car? At the very least please offer a blacked out version of your equipment that's free from any branding.
even an embossed/engraved matte black branding is enough. no. they need to be FULLY CONTRASTING AND DIFFERENT.
Yes, the Rode Wireless Go would be a lot easier to use if it didn't have a big white RODE emblazoned on the front of it. It's distracting.
Yes!!! The bloopers at the end!!! Finally!!!
On a serious note, thanks for compiling these tips and tricks for hiding lav mics. My students will appreciate this. :)
We gotta keep you wanting more 😉 Glad we were able to help out!
I love my Wireless Pros but they are chunkier for concealing. I have found the URSA plush felts to be really effective in reducing friction noise, and as an added bonus they come in a variety of skin tone shades, so they don't tend to show through white shirts or light clothing.
What about " Rode Vampire Clip " ?
That can work too, be sure to keep it away from the sunlight!
I lost the clip on this mic and Rode doesn't sell it separately. .... Now I have a mic with no clip.....
Hey there - please contact support and they will be able to assist you further with your replacement clips - help.rode.com/hc/en-us/requests/new
Show me rodecaster pro 2 firmware update
Yes please 😊
I would love tips on placing lav mics on the windy outdoors and how to reduce wind noise. I don't know how movies do it specially on scenes on the beach where waves are so noisy
Recording in windy conditions will always be tricky and it's best to avoid it whenever possible, but if you have to, you just need to do all you can to protect the capsule from the wind - use a windshield like the MiniFur Lav, place the lav inside clothing (like on the inner seam of a button-down shirt or jacket), and shoot behind cover or with the subject's back to the wind.
Hello, please I need urgent help or I am going to fall into depression. I recorded a 3-hour concert with your RODE Capture application on an iPhone 11, and when I stopped recording, the video stayed in files (which I don't care about), but the worst thing is that it has no audio, you can't hear anything. Please I need to solve it, answer me as soon as possible please please.
How about a clever way to keep the clip from breaking.
I'm the first like here. Yaaaayyy!!! Love you Røde!
What about making a video of mic in a bridge with this lav mic.
At 0:58 you’re referring to a video linked in the description but there is no video referred to in the description.. 🙃
This is the one linked below: ua-cam.com/video/Hq2cJXRbqLw/v-deo.html
She is beautiful.

Would you recommend using a lav on a button-down shirt?
Absolutely! Positioning a lav roughly 20cm away from the mouth on the chest will give you great audio, so attaching to a button down shirt is ideal.
hi Heen
I would love to see how you manage to keep the transmitter connected directly to your iPhone, is it through MagSafe or a specific method so it doesn't move when connected to the back? Mine tends to fall off when I try to do that, it doesn't stick.
We use the MagClip GO accessory with a MagSafe iPhone!
MORE LOGO, STUPID RODE, MORE!
idea: LED IN YOUR LOGO! fcking stupid company
Something maybe not as hidden but very practical for meet-ups etc is to have a headset mic as in a conference stage with only a small wire coming on the side of your cheek and hanging on your ears. Having a mix of Rode Wireless Pro + DPA headset is nice!
Interesting. I tested the Rode with a DPA lapel mic and I was catching strong interference that was getting into the recording.
For wedding photogs how about you guys produce a range of mics in (say) white - or even just a white foam cover?
We have the Lavalier GO available in white! rode.com/microphones/lavalier-wearable/lavalier-go
Can I buy the lave 2 and do this set up with my dji pocket 3 without a transmitter and receiver? Or do I have to spend the 300 to connect it all together?
The Pocket 3 doesn't appear to have a 3.5mm jack for mic input, so we would recommend something like the Wireless ME which can be connected via USB-C to the pocket 3 and costs $149 USD
@@rodemic - can’t I just buy the lav and a 3.5mm to usb-c cable ? The wireless me would still require me to buy a lav mic . I don’t want to have the bulky mic on my shirt that’s why I am looking to go lav set up and hide the cables . Thanks !
Please sell the clips for the lavalier ii
