Lacey is back in Flyleaf. The new singer ended up leaving because she never felt like she was part of the band, and Lacey ended up rejoining November 7th of last year.
Yes but it was for a concert. Did they announce that they are fully back together and coming back as a band because she's been quite successful with her solo career?
I know this song is about Christian stuff, but as you two were saying, they're versatile enough that I can hear the lyrics and clearly glean a totally different interpretation. The "you sink into my clothes, this invasion makes me feel worthless, hopeless, sick" line speaks to my experience with sexual assault. It helps to be able to scream about that kinda stuff, ya know? Lol
I think that was what I always liked about Flyleaf(and honestly the few other chirstian rock bands that manage to do a similar thing) they keep their lyrics open ended enough that it doesn't need to be interperated with the religious undertone. You can connect to it regardless. I always held this song as a teenager as an interpretation of how my mental health felt and the rage at not being able to express what I meant about it
Just so you're aware, Lacey ( a few years after leaving Flyleaf ) she started playing music again with her own separate band with her husband Josh on lead guitar. they released a whole hard rock album called 'Life Screams' and you can tell she was/is the heart and soul of Flyleaf. recently, she's currently working on a second album and has released 3 tracks so far and currently is going on tour with Flyleaf, fronting the band again for the first time since she left. ( she hasn't said that she's officially back with the band, that's just a rumor of fans hoping, but she IS touring and fronting Flyleaf on this tour. it COULD very well lead to her eventually, but right now its not official due to her not wanting to part from her sons, especially since her youngest is a toddler....but maybe in the future, it could be a thing ) Some of Lacey's solo band songs worth checking out: -Rot (Life Screams) -Impossible (Life Screams) -Roxanne ( Police cover - Life Screams ) -The Decree ( new single ) -State Of Me ( new single ) Flyleaf songs: -Chasm -Call You Out -Beautiful Bride -Fully Alive -Cassie -Sorrow -Justice and Mercy ( hard rock version ) ( there are SO many but those are just from the top of my head )
To this day Lacey Sturm is still my absolutely favorite female vocalist ever! Her voice is on that level that I don't know, it's like, her voice touches my soul and leaves me stunned. She doesn't do all that warbling crap most singers do. She does it RIGHT!
Sorry I'm late, but my personal favorite song she's done is "Broken Pieces" as a guest performer for Apocalyptica single. The sounds of them combined always gets me.
Flyleaf helped me through dark times in my life during the 90's.. I've seen Lacey and Flyleaf 4 times and I felt weightlessness and felt like she was singing straight to my heart and soul.
The acoustic version of this song is amazing. Also it ,in my opinion, changes the whole aesthetic of the song. Fully Alive is amazing but also Cassie is amazing. But in the end you cant go wrong with Flyleaf.
i'll never forget seeing them live. I think it was Family Values Tour like 07 or so but seeing Lacey casually climbing up a double stack of amps during an instrumental breakdown. And then jumping off what had to be a 12+ foot drop straight into singing without missing a beat.
Lacey is so dope. One of a kind voice. She can go from singing an Angelic Symphony, to screaming like a dude in a metal band. Listen to Again, Fully Alive, and All around me by flyleaf, and also Listen to her solo stuff, like: You're Not Alone, and the Soldier...
I would suggest to keep reacting to the singles off of this album first for Eric to listen to. Like, Fully Alive, Cassie (Is about school shootings) Sorrow, even some non-single songs. The whole album is amazing. Their 2nd album, Memento Mori, is also amazing. There you can appreciate their mature sound starting to evolve.
Hell yes. I'm so excited about this. Flyleaf and Lacey Sturm solo stuff is amazing. Should definitely react to more. She's one of the reasons for female screamers and a big influence. She is still very active, has multiple solo albums which are amazing and imo better than most Flyleaf. It's insane how good she is and still has a solid following. Should definitely react to more genuinely
Lacey is back! She's been back since late 2022. They are doing several festivals and you can obtain tickets now. They're the whole original band but going by the name "FLYLEAF with Lacey Sturm" and are playing several festivals. Show coming up here in New Jersey Atlantic City May 6th! 🤘
“Can you imagine her now?” Don’t have to. Listen to her solo album, specifically The Decree. More screams, more power, more absolutely gut-wrenching melody.
Great vid. I am 43 and remember this song first coming out back in the day and it blowing up on the radio. I dont listen to Flyleaf often, but i enjoy it when it pops up.
Despite the fact this song was so popular it’s still so underrated her voice is my favorite of all our early 2000s female rock singers. I’m glad you pointed out that it’s Christian but not worship music. My wife likes worship music but I can’t stand it cause it’s just soooo boring. This song has depth and you can relate even if, like me you aren’t a Christian.
I was a young teen and getting into Wicca and actively trying to get out of CCD on Saturdays when this came out, and even I didn't know it was Christian-based until I was adult-years-old😂
I’m so glad you guys are well into the Christian artists! I have a request then. There’s a Christian band I love called “Oh, Sleeper”. They are amazing and the vocalist is INTENSE! There’s an album called “Son of the morning” … opening track of the album is the title track and it’s from the perspective of Satan talking to God & letting him know that it’s Satan’s time to rule & he’s coming for the throne because of how the world has lost faith. The last song of the album is called: “The Finisher” and it’s God’s rebuttal to that song & bro … he goes Old Testament of Satan 😅 I’d say either react to those together or separate! Up to you, but definitely both need to be heard. There’s a Lyric video out there with both back to back Also! At the end of “The Finisher” you’ll get an explanation of the bands logo! 👀 🔥🔥
Love this song. I was first exposed to her scream when this song was used in the soundtrack for the movie Live Free or Die Hard, and I was instantly hooked. Great reaction video.
3:47 Lacey re-joined Flyleaf in the fall, at least touring. Not sure if they are writing new music or not. Her other stuff is absolutely worth checking out.
no, as for Lacey doing new music, she is working on a second solo-band album, which she's released 3 singles off of it so far. BUT she is going on a small tour, front Flyleaf again for the first time since she's left..but its not official, at least not now. ( although it could very well lead to it being official somewhere down the line )
I met these kids in Temple Texas when they were still Passerby. They played at my church youth group several times when I was the youth pastor. Amazing people. Nothing but the best to Flyleaf.
This video made me go back and rewatch the Jinjer-Pisces reaction you guys did. It was the video that introduced me to your channel. And it's funny because in that video the first time you hear Tatianna, your very first reference is to her reminding you of Lacey.
Met the band right before they blew up. One of my favorite music experiences ever. Such a great group of people, literally made you feel like an old friend.
This song was featured in Live Free or Die Hard, the video was playing in the hacker scene in the background. Loved it the moment I heard it, Lacy is so dynamic. Thanks for reminding me.
Have had the pleasure of seeing them live a couple times at the sonshine fesival. Got to talk to lacey one on one because she just happened to be at their merch table when i was walking by. She's a great person!
Saw flyleaf in 11-14-09 in Seattle twice in one night. Won a radio contest for a meet and greet and an acoustic private show, then later in the night saw the public show.
"This is the song you show them to hook someone" yeah pretty much. I saw this when it first came out on MTV and it's what got me looking in to Flyleaf. This is actually one of the songs that's still in my rotation on the playlist and I am also a Hip-Hop Head.
I’m from Austin and remember seeing the band Passerby (Fly Leaf before they changed the name to fly leaf) circa 2002-2004ish. My friend was in a band that played a couple shows locally(between Austin and Waco during that time)
I love Flyleaf! I went to college with some of them, back when they were called Passerby. They are amazing people! Super fun to hang around. I look forward to seeing Lacey again when she comes through town next!
Thank you. This song changed the way I listened to music. Glad you covered this song. Their catalog is an important part of my collection. My absolute favorite is Cassie.
one of the first female lead band i saw at 06-09 at the buzz bake sale was lacy. the crowd i went with we had different bands we wanted to see & while waiting for my artists in the lineup. just like that hiphop dude traveling from Miami to west palm they choose not to play her music to surprise me ,so when it was there turn to perform. there was an Immediate OH SHIT ! whats even crazy its difficult for bands to sound like there album especially the vocals.....i get chills just remembering how her scream wreck my rib cage XD ! I'v seen alot of bands but when it comes to past line ups Fly Leaf earn there spot every time, it sucks alot of people wont get to experience them together like before.
Don't forget about Red Sam or All Around Me as well. Apparently they did a full acoustic set a few months back that was professionally recorded. This was such a throwback for me. I got to see flyleaf a couple of times at various festivals back in the day, and even to this day Laceys voice has such a beautifully haunting sound to it that I love.
I found out about Flyleaf by accident. I went to this concert in St. Louis back in 2006 called Sno-Core. Halestorm and Flyleaf opened for Shinedown and Seether. Lizzy and Lacy were both amazing, and I bought both bands' CDs right then and there. Those 2 girls' voices are just insane to hear in person. 🤘
13 years later and song still smacks. Lacey is amazing fr. Her voice is typically such a specific tone so the screams in the song are the pinnacle of surprising the most badass way.
Awesome. I have not listened to FlyLeaf in a couple of years. So easy to forget just how good they are!! Lacey's raw vocals are just so hard-driving ...
Flyleaf was the first band with any screaming that I got into. I heard this song on the local hard rock radio station. By the way, this song actually came out in 2005, so about 18 years ago.
Lacey is back in Flyleaf. The new singer ended up leaving because she never felt like she was part of the band, and Lacey ended up rejoining November 7th of last year.
WAT? COOL!
Yes but it was for a concert. Did they announce that they are fully back together and coming back as a band because she's been quite successful with her solo career?
@Hunter Wise yes they announced that she is fully back with the band
That's amazing! They were never fully Flyleaf without her!
Oh fuck yeah that's awesome!
DUDE! Kyle slowly sips his yeti cup. Then Eric whips out the GIGANTIC wine glass lmfao
The look on his face when she screamed. priceless. That's how I felt the first time I ever heard this song too.
My vote is for " Fully Alive" 😊❤
And “all around me”
I also love Arise
Fully Alive still gives me chills when I listen to it knowing her testimony.
Again is the best
Fully Alive and Again 🥰 and her self titled bands song Rot, so good.
"Fully Alive" and "All Around Me" are my other two favorites from the album. Highly recommend!
I personally love _Red Sam_ and _Cassie._
Cases is so god damn good! Both of Lacy’s albums are all hits. So 13 years and still listen non stop. (Casse) auto correct.
That album is a banger
Love "Cassie". The acoustic version is so beautiful and heartbreaking
@@brannonhill4046 not quite as heartbreaking as _I'm Sorry,_ but definitely more beautiful!
Kyle always dropping all the bands I listened to growing up, red, flyleaf,
Skillet. Love it.
Same here.
Same. Plus demon hunter
@@regalseagullGA especially demon hunter!
Yes! Fully alive next, one of my favorites. Always loved her voice and her screams are on point.
This 13 year old song is actually 18 years old! was released in 2005. Crazy right!? So glad Lacey is back! Also check out her solo albums.
Eric that glass is so outrageous... I love it! Btw great reaction and keep up the good work!
It works on so many levels... beauty of art is we all relate but in different ways
Spirituality is a key aspect in humanity. It opens your mind.
@@hiwayhighway9925 I consider myself a spiritual person. Not religious and not Christian. Not that this has anything to do with my comment.

Such a good song. Was also on the Resident Evil movie soundtrack. I love Lacey's voice.
Remember it from in Die hard 4.0
was on live free or die hard
I remember it from the game Rock Band

Some of Lacey's solo band songs worth checking out:
-Rot (Life Screams)
-Impossible (Life Screams)
-Roxanne ( Police cover - Life Screams )
-The Decree ( new single )
-State Of Me ( new single )
Flyleaf songs:
-Chasm
-Call You Out
-Beautiful Bride
-Fully Alive
-Cassie
-Sorrow
-Justice and Mercy ( hard rock version )
( there are SO many but those are just from the top of my head )
Lacey is one of the most amazing rise from the ashes stories ever. She has inspired my life and helped me
To this day Lacey Sturm is still my absolutely favorite female vocalist ever!

That song is a masterpiece
Flyleaf was my teenage years. The first two albums are awesome. The first one perfection in one voice
Flyleaf helped me through dark times in my life during the 90's.. I've seen Lacey and Flyleaf 4 times and I felt weightlessness and felt like she was singing straight to my heart and soul.
The video of how she became a Christian and what made her go from thoughts of suicide to rebuilding her life. I think it’s a great story and powerful.
Nf hope album is so different and amazing can't wait watch you guys react to the album
The acoustic version of this song is amazing. Also it ,in my opinion, changes the whole aesthetic of the song. Fully Alive is amazing but also Cassie is amazing. But in the end you cant go wrong with Flyleaf.
Saw them in concert with Korn back in 2007& she has such high energy on the Stage, amazing to watch & listen to.
Also, I thought she recently came back & reunited with them?
i'll never forget seeing them live. I think it was Family Values Tour like 07 or so but seeing Lacey casually climbing up a double stack of amps during an instrumental breakdown. And then jumping off what had to be a 12+ foot drop straight into singing without missing a beat.
also shes like sub 5 foot which just makes it even more metal
One of my fav songs, and I still listen to it damn near daily still. Great video guys!
I'd also REALLY love to see him react to the acoustic version of I'm So Sick as well-- it's actually my favourite thing they've done, personally.
She is actually BACK WITH THE BAND !!!!Looking forward to hearing new stuff

Damn i love Lacey's voice! She is one of my fav singers.
Ill always will love Lacey's vocals. So underrated and Flyleaf has so many great songs for sure
Thank you for reviewing this! Old Flyleaf is great & takes me back to being a teenager 😊 you could honestly review that entire album. It’s so good!
And I vote Fully Alive or Breathe Today as next Flyleaf song to review
Love Flyleaf! MORE MORE MORE! "Fully alive", "Cassie", "All around me"

Cassie is an amazing song
The rolling stones acoustic sets of Cassie is so good.
