- Hear from the first DA50 RG aircraft owners, pilots, and the Diamond aircraft designer, who share their insights on this exciting new modern aircraft!
Launching in North America at Oshkosh 2021, the Diamond DA50 RG takes modern general aviation to another level with the twin turbo charged Jet-fueled 300HP Continental CD-300 Engine and modern avionics of the Garmin G1000 NXi.

181 kts, 750 nm range, base price $1.3m. I’m underwhelmed.
And they called it a 5 seater. More like a 4.25 seater.
The range is a bit low agreed.
I was expecting 300 kts for such a sleek little Bird
Is that range with 5 pax or full tanks?
@@Bruce.-Wayne
I didnt think 300, I thought 225-230..... Not 181zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
I’m getting worried about General Aviation. Don’t get me wrong, it’s a beautiful aircraft, but at the rate we’re going, I feel like buying new aircraft is just not a thing. It’s too expensive. At least that’s what I think. I’m gonna get my tailwheel endorsement and find a plane I can bush fly in once I retire. But if I had a couple million lying around I would definitely buy this beauty!
Buying a GA aircraft new has always been an insane endeavor...Decades from now the DA50 might be more common and beloved.
Nah, new aircrafts full of all options have always been so expansive.
This one is a kind of luxury car.
Flying clubs and aircraft's owners buy fuel efficient aircrafts with minimum useful options. Rich people buy luxury cars and luxury aircrafts.
Remember that a lot of flying clubs in Europe buy the old versions of Diamond aircrafts because they are fuel efficient with complete avionics. They don't buy luxury or new models.
@@bonbondesel is there a huge difference in the performance?
yeah GA could really use a more barebones version of this to market. More like the stationwagon we need than the sportscar everyone would like.
A new DA-40 costs are similar to a new C-172, while it is DRAMATICALLY better. Beats my why anyone would buy a NEW C-172 in this century.
Amazing looking design - but too slow and short ranged for the money.
"It looks fast" - looks don't make it go. Make it faster than a SR22T, longer legs, pressurized....something more than great stitching and ramp appeal.
Or consider a more competitive price tag.
I thought the same thing. Great looking and looks fast. Check the specs and what a let down. Now I know why they compared it to Aston Martin.
It’s still gonna sell though
Without a potty, the range is plenty long for those who can afford it.
get a Piper M350 - fast, pressurized, 1350 nm range,
Pressurized? Then it will cost millions.
„Doing a bad landing in a DA-50 is almost impossible....“ Thanks for the pressure :-)
more like a challenge
I know I’m up to the task. Who will loan me one so that I can show it is even probable to make bad landings for some pilots with exceptional ineptitude such as myself? 🤣
You still have bad landings, the struts do a good job of masking it.
AHAHAHA 🤣
Hold my beer.
162ktas at 1.4 millions. I know it looks beautiful but cmon diamond, you lost it.
Question for Diamond. We now have the DA50, DA62. When are we going to see a DA72. That would be a DA62 with 2 x 300Hp V6 engines and pressurised to FL250. That would be a mini kingair.
A pressurized twin would be amazing
It'll cost the same as a m600...which would you rather have then?
That would be lit!
A pressurized 62 with a bit more storage would be the definition blowing any piston competition out of the water
Personally I would really like the da72 to be fl34000 pressure qualified , turbo prop ,and added cold weather prep as well as grass landing qualified bigger overall , (for luggage second row vip, more fuel range to accommodate them)
The music is so loud I can’t hear what they are actually saying about the plane
Why the background noise??
Some Americans always have such a downer on diamond aircraft. It's frankly bizarre. Strong composite monocoque, superior aerodynamic stability, great build quality, and an efficient engine with just a throttle not something out of the 1960s
I remember getting checked out in a DA-40 and noting how ridiculously stable the thing was in a stall. You could just hold the stick back, pinned full pitch up, and the plane wouldn't even really buffet, it just slowly descended, totally controllable. Really amazing.
My old Beech Musketeer Super III 1968 model would mush along in the stall like that!
Gotta admit, that brief engine noise clip at 1:43, sounds amazing....looks like it will leap into the air pretty quick too. Beautiful plane!
Unpressurized? Best rate of climb 1000fpm? Cmon man.
I hope we get to see this beauty in Microsoft Flight Simulator someday.
Get your pilots license mate.
Hello from Australia.
I mean is it really legit if it isn't in MSF?
@@glennllewellyn7369 not everyone can afford that.
"Doing a bad landing in a DA 50 is close to impossible"
Me: Hold my beer.
Actually, the DA40 has been a very docile and forgiving machine every time I've flown it. I was thinking the DA62 would be my dream plane, but I'm liking the DA50 RG, especially only one engine for maintenance and operating costs.
If it's an aircraft it's subject to bad landings even if flown by an experienced pilot...to allege otherwise is a laughable sales hype...
🤣🤣
True, I have only 3.0 hours in a DA-40 and was able to absolutely grease the landings every time. My landings in a C-172... "not great, not terrible". Even after dozens of hours.
My thoughts are the same. I’ve been flying the da40 to get my ppl and so far I loved that plane. The organization that owns the da40s that I fly just recently got the da62 as their business aircraft and it is beautiful. I thought that would be the aircraft I would get if I had the money right now but after I discovered the da50, I thought that would be a better choice
beautiful plane, but 1.5M for a single piston is way too much.
I can't believe I'm saying this but I like this almost more than the DA62. I love the 62.
In our flight club there's a bunch of Cessnas (of course), and just one DA-40. I absolutely loved the DA-40, although only flew it 3 times! It's usually booked weeks in advance, no wonder.
The most beautiful single-engine touring aircraft! Congratulations Diamond a true work of art! 💎❤️
GA aircraft have finally come of age. I've spent 5000 hrs in Cessnas, Pipers, Beachcraft and others. This aircraft has made everything I have ever flown obsolete.
Thank you 💎✈
I get goosebumps seeing this video. I really hope i can afford such aircraft one day. BEAUTIFUL!
Can you please make a turboprop version that has a normal cruise speed of around 325 KTAS?
It’s called a TBM or the Lancair Evolution
This is already a ~$1.4M airplane. A turboprop would be well over $2M.
The Frame, but especially the wings could not take that speed! Simple as that!
@@Pilotman28 Lancer is out of business And built by people in their garage, TBM in this price range would be used
You are looking at the wrong company for that...you need to look at a TBM, Pilatus or a Cirrus jet.
I don't get it? What does this offer over the da42? It's more expensive, and it's a single?
I can’t wait to fly that amazing plane in MSFS :)
who says its coming to msfs
So when do we get a DA-62SS (super sport} with this engine on the wings. That's something I would be interested in.
What a stunning aeroplane you’ve got here. Wow!
Thank you! The DA50 RG is an amazing aircraft ❤️
But still no chute, sorry but without this tool I don't want to use it in heavy IFR e.g fog. On top only 50g of fuel and a range of 750NM *joke*. I like the design and the Diesel technology but .......
Just Wondering when we will see a DA72 with twin V6 and presherrisathon?
The DA 50 hits the nail. Great! Optical awesome. Technical awesome. Enjoyfactor awesome. Glad to see a competition to the Cirrus Hype. Keep on going. Take the competition to the market, the DA 50 will have good points to lock in.
You can put in all of that luggage, but SHOULD you....
Diamond went to the Austro engine because Continental wasn't able to provide what they needed for the DA40NG and the DA42 and DA62. My concern is TBR, Time before Replacement? How well is this Continental engine going to work? Other than that, it's a gorgeous airplane.
TBR 1,200 hrs currently, projected 2,000 hrs
Wonderful plane, now it is just time for the FAA to grant certification! It is nice to see a competitor to the SR22 appear. I look forward to seeing this plane at EAA later this week.
Visit us on booth no. 9 on James Ray Blvd. 😊
what an amazing & beautiful piece of art. Really love it.
I saw this airplane at AirVenture 21. Pretty but the cowling is outright ugly. And 1.15M USD is insanity.
Interesting video… But much to loud and extensive use of music!
A very awesome looking airplane but the price will probably be very very frightening.
Is so,etching wrong with the audio? The voice is very low in comparison to the music
Just absolutely gobsmackingly beautiful! Now on to winning the lottery…
Have they improved the Air Conditioning from the DA62? Ours couldn’t keep up with Texas heat...
Beautiful aircraft!
Tell me more…looking at a DA62 and live in Houston…
Deveria ter colocado o mesmo motor Jet A1 do DA - 62. Gasolina no Brasil e América Latina é muito cara, o preço é muito alto, não está compensando abastecer com gasolina no Brasil🇧🇷
Great engineering, but a lumpy, finny and bumpy conglomeration of shapes in the streamlining area. Just does not have that elegant touch.
Looking at the size of this aircraft, no doubt it will have a turbine in the near future. Its designed for it and nearly ready. Date i said this- 8/1/2021
Incredible and will certainly change the piston single market, as this is LONG overdue. But starting at $1.15m for 700-750nm of range??? Idk about that.
Beautiful aircraft and I particularly love the livery of the black knight. When will it be coming to the US? Any plans on showcasing it in the Texas area?
Also, will there be a video of its Atlantic crossing (like was done with the DA62, featuring Micke Lang and Martin Scherrer)? Thanks and congrats on a fantastic aircraft!
Right now, our beautiful DA50 RG is at EAA AirVenture 2021 in Oshkosh and will be on demo tour across the US in September 2021. You will find all tour dates on our website soon: www.diamondaircraft.com/en/private-pilots/aircraft/da50/da50-on-tour/
Ordering mine in two weeks. Can't wait ! Bravo !
It’s like a T-6 Texan, P-51 and a G5 had a baby! This aircraft is gorgeous. I would LOVE to fly this aircraft
The WANT is strong with this one!!!
p.s. "Doing a bad landing in a DA50 is impossible?" Challenge accepted Diamond.
Rear seats pilot removable?
TAS and GPH at ISA figures?
The 9 gph figure I keep seeing in the promotional materials....what percentage of power does 9 gph give you in cruise at say 10000' and FL180?
TBO for the engine?
Sharp looking plane :)
Have a look into our AFM for more perfomance data: support.diamond-air.at/da62_afm_bas0+M52087573ab0.html
TBR currently 1,200 hrs; projected to be 2,000 hrs
This aircraft is absolutely gorgeous, a mechanical work of art !!
Thank you ;)
Gorgeous aircraft. If you want to make some serious dough, you should be coordinating your aircraft releases with high quality models for Microsoft Flight Simulator. You'd get a thousand times the brand recognition. Hell, you might end up making more on the flight sim models than you do on the real planes! A lot more people can afford a $50 video game addon than can afford a new DA50!
No add-on is worth $50. Very few entire games are worth that much.
@@georgemorley1029 study level are
@@georgemorley1029 You clearly do not know the flight sim market. Add-ons priced at $80 or even $100 sell well if they are of superior quality. Most worthwhile flight simulator addons cost $50+.
Truly impressed, price????? 😂😎
in a word GORGEOUS.
No BRS will hurt the sales, unfortunately.
looks better then Bonanza, but slower, less range,
Can't hear the voice over the music
Again these GA companies are continuing to miss the mark. If you are going to charge a million dollars give the thing some range and speed. I keep waiting for someone to make this type of airplane for under 200K. GA has priced normal people out of the market.
I'm in love with this plane 🥰
We are in love with her too 🥰
Hey Diamond, I wouldn’t be mad if you flew this around the country to show it off and give me a ride in it like what pipistril did with the panthera 😂
Hey Mateo, the DA50 is touring Europe (see here: www.diamondaircraft.com/en/private-pilots/aircraft/da50/da50-on-tour/) and will be soon touring in the US. We are updating the locations and dates every few weeks so keep an eye on that.
cool.
Don't know why am watching a video about a plane youtube ads 😀 think I have some millions... but this looks so beautiful
Please take my money! Amazing design. I'm only about 25 hrs into PPL at age 56 flying the DA-40. It's given me more incentive to continue this dream.
Getting rid of your money will not be a problem.
Gorgeous - if it's like the DA40 it will be a real treat to fly.
The DA-40 is wonderful to fly. This was supposed to be an upgrade. Being a downgrade range-wise is a bit odd, but perhaps not a huge issue depending on the typical useage of these...
Perfect. I found the plane. I just need to find the money 😅
Sportcar in the air🛫🤓
I think that it is a well designed airplane. And I like the safety and ease of flying (aka, low pilot cockpit workload, with FADEC) ... but ... for the price it really should have a higher speed with more payload capability. Having said that, for my 80% mission (well, if I could afford to do my dream mission ... of providing regular Angel Flights & regularly flying animals to distant locations so they can be adopted into loving homes) ... if I had the bucks to buy this (or preferable the DA-62), I would get it, because of the safety and cabin (with AC) comfort.
what does a DA 62 fresh off the factory floor run? I have searched everywhere and as yet to find a price list for this aircraft. And I don't wish to make a nuance of myself by calling the factory. But I am seriously interested in what a fully equipped .(all the buzzers and bells as they say) model would cost in the States?
Now that’s a fantastic aircraft love to fly in it well done guys.👍🇬🇧🤘🛩
This is my dream airplane. But why is it so expensive? Why can’t they figure out how to make this thing for 100 grand? It’s just not affordable for the average person and that’s a real shame.
I can see why the Dark Aero is struggling and the Black Knight is ligh years ahead..maybe one company combined is better than two.two and four seats, all bases covered
Now i'm conflicted!!! I can't decide which is my dream plane now!!! DA62 or DA50, DA50 or DA62.....aaaaah!! Do you do buy one, get one free? ;) Beautiful plane!!
Nice try ;) Thanks for your kind words.
@@DiamondAircraftInd I'm a real fan, for sure. One day :)
Dear Santa, i have been a good boy, so I wish from you a brand new DA50. Please expedite delivery, no delay until Christmas!!🤩
Is a real beauty this aircraft , but still I am not convince of full carbon fiber airplanes. As far as I know even the structure of this aircraft is made by carbon fiber. Quite unsure for my taste.. .
Why do they put that horrible music on video's like this. I want to hear what the narrator has to say, If I want loud music I'll turn on the radio. .
Looks like something Batman would fly
Strong marketing. Well done
I can't hear a word that's being said. Your background music level is way over the top!!
The new paint scheme is amazing. So much nicer than the blue, possibly even nicer than the original grey and orange on the prototype.
It's very strange they chose those non-pilots actors for this video. The plane is amazing though.
I swear to god I heard him say "Big ASS scoops" but he actually said "big air scoops"; Either way he's not wrong LMFAO 🤣 Beautiful machine, dream plane right there.
Edit: Timestamp 0:24
Kinda off topic but the sound mixing in this video is abysmal. Almost turned it off just cause of that
Beautiful plane but not as sexy as the DA62!! But, I would love to own either!!!!
But no one can use u could have the Money 🤑 but where u use have too a pilot no for yourself this plane just beautiful
Any idea of what the base model will cost.... before throwing more money at the options???
Me watching this with 2,45€ on my bank Account
The music i to loud, we cant listen te voice of the persons
Audio mix is horrible. Background music is too loud and the dialogue too low.
Is it possible to try fly DA50 plane in Austria? (I live near Bratislava)
MADE in AUSTRIA (not Australia) .. i like it. An amazing plane.
If i ever win the lottery, you'll be expecting me to buy one of these beauties😍
Too expensive! Better buy a pressurized six seater PA46 M350
How many DA50's have been made so far? This is my dream plane.
Dries' dream made true....
You could paint it all white and call it the "WHITE KNIGHT"
I believe it is diesel powered (running on jet fuel of course)
Correct; it has an Continental CD-300 300hp Jet-A1 engine installed.
This guy isn't selling cars; style, elegance, aggressiveness. How does the thing perform? ROC, fuel burn, useful load? All the important things.
Here is the link to the AFM: support.diamond-air.at/da62_afm_bas0+M52087573ab0.html.
We hope this will help to answer your questions.
Prefer side yoke. The center yoke is so cumbersome and in the way.
Almost looks like a WW2 fighter
It is stunning. Well done!
Diamond, knock a zero off the price tag will you🤣
Huh, just learned that he wasn’t mispronouncing elegance, “elegancy” really is a word.
Cool plany.
Why are we still using knobs and buttons when the touchscreen avionics can replace all those keypads
Where is the turbine powered version? Pistons are for poor people.
