I love my B350! I can take full fuel of 3611lbs, 6 medical personnel, 2 patients, full wing lockers and cargo area, so about 700lbs of cargo and still be around only 15500lbs gross take off weight. Then climb to FL340 and fly 1000NM with good room for an alternate. The New Fusion aviaonis are pretty amazing and make IFR flying into 3000 foot strips in the middle of the winter a breeze. Love having the C version and the nice big cargo door / airstair.
Slight correction on the Evo. I own one. It’s ceiling is 28K. I’ve enjoyed mine but I’ve had it on the market for over 2 years, now. There is only 1 company currently insuring them and we’re getting BENT OVER to do so. Being an experimental and with a fleet size under 80 or so, it’s annual premium is right up there with my 2007 PC-12/47. Probably one of the main reasons I’ve been unable to sell mine.
I was going to say the same thing, you can NEVER compare an experimental to a standard category aircraft - it's insane for both insurance and maintenance as you mention. I mean they are absolutely beautiful, but so is the TBM.
Probably makes more sense to register under an LLC with an umbrella liability insurance policy and forgo comprehensive coverage. Insurance prices are a joke, I got a quote for a T210 and they won’t go lower than 30k until i have 100hrs of retract time. So I decided instead to put that money toward getting my IFR rating and doing it in my instructor’s beech sierra, that was a quick way to knock out 40 hours of retract time and get an advanced rating that will also help my insurance rates.
As an Air Traffic Controller love all these turbo props. Should also include the P46T and Piaggio P180. Anyway the aircraft I've been most impressed with is the PC12. That thing is fast (enough), has excellent range, impressive payload and from my observations can land and takeoff on anything!!!
I can't believe the Avanti wasn't mentioned here either - speed IS pretty much what it was designed for, while (basically) sipping fuel. But yeah as a controller I'm sure you love these over the business jets and RJ's as you can easily slam-dunk a turboprop into just about anywhere without a problem. People don't realize that a slower turboprop can sometimes land QUICKER than a jet over the same leg - none of these videos ever mention that.
What I find interesting, educational and engaging about this channel is how it manages to bring an informed and connected audience to the table for usually informative and vigorious discussion of aviation. Well done MojoGrip.

some models P.180 would do 405 kts, and the 400LS routinely cruises at 325kts but could be pushed to 350kts with M-T 5 blades, but they also forgot about MU-2's that can push 315 kts with the M-Ts and 331-10's. Cessna 441 Conquest with 331-10 can also push 320 kts.
Pilatus is the ultimate workhorse in the sky. Amazing capabilities ALL around. The waiting list to get a new one is amazing as well. I still shake my head when I see how little runway they use on takeoff AND landing. Used by MANY governments and medical transport around the world too.
I recently discovered your channel & am really enjoying your content. Nice work! If I may be critical of this one video in particular, I just want to point out that, as a former airline pilot (B737 & A330), I cringe whenever I hear anyone refer to these new generation single-engine turboprops as being capable of jet speeds. My experience of "jet speed" is the ability to climb at 250 KIAS below 10,000ft, 300 KIAS above, & routinely achieve a cruise TAS of 450-470 kts (that's normal cruise, let alone max) at FL400, for example. Whilst 300 kts is plenty fast without a doubt, none of these aircraft come even close to that kind of performance - & it's all just marketing BS the sales reps like to use to sway potential buyers from a real jet. I can almost see the argument for lower operating costs as being the carrot, but on the other hand there are plenty of low-time, used light jets on the market for considerably less than, let's say, a brand new, fully optioned TBM-940 at around $5 million. If I won the lottery, I'd get myself a used Premier 1A for $2 million or less, take the $3 million I saved from what I would have spent on the TBM, & use it to offset the higher operating costs of the jet. At a typical hourly operating cost of around $1,800 p/hr, that'd buy me more than 1,600 hours of flying. If I averaged 250 hours a year, that's more than 6 years' worth of operation paid for. So when considering that the jet costs more to fly by the hour but gets you there a lot sooner, I'm not even sure that operating costs make for a solid argument. Personally, I think the lure of the single-engine turboprop is because the low-time pilot with no jet experience can step up to one a lot easier, as the training & insurance requirements are less stringent. Just my 50 cents, for what it's worth... 😎

Many turboprops are faster than small jets for good reason...they are smaller, lighter but still generate massive thrust to weight. They climb faster and often cruise faster.

I've only flown light sport and trikes, but I love all niches of aviation, since I traveled by airline during most of my career, on a passenger jet or puddle jumper every ten days or so for a decade straight, tapering down as I got older. Your video and review of these aircraft is so well done, you present these aircraft at a good pace, and share the important things and tradeoffs to note about each one, which is true in smaller aircraft as well. I chose to rent aircraft, since '06 under Light Sport, I wanted to fly recreationally, and flying trikes I always rented not only the aircraft, but a CFI's time, so I could enjoy some moments with the CFI at the controls learning in a rare niche a mode of flight that has no practical purpose other than for recreation.
Chase roby doesn’t know shit. Airplanes with twin engines are designed to fly on one engine. That’s true the performance won’t be great, but it will be enough to get him safely on the ground.

There is at least ONE Zenair 701 homebuilt out there {USA or Canada} with a Solar turboprop. There is also at least one Cri-Cri {smallest single-place twin} homebuilt somewhere in the world with two small miniature turbojet engines in place of the two two-stroke reciprocating engines.

yes why no mention of the Piaggio? Just an observation, why? not say the model has two engines. Different indicates, it has a PW engine on one side, with a GE on the other.
I believe the Piper m-600 should be the best next to the pc-12 NG. The PC 12 is over 5 mil but holds up to 11 people and the M-600 only holds 6 but is less than half the price.

Your description of auto land is incorrect. It's function is NOT to land the airplane in case something happens to the pilot. Aircraft certified for auto land can shoot instrument approaches to lower minimums of ceiling and visibility. The pilot must guide the aircraft to the approach, set the required approach airspeed, and configure the flaps and landing gear.

You forgot to mention Piper M600.
Not fast enough.........but a relaxing, fun and very capable plane.............
The Pilatus can cruise at 288 mph and the Piper can do 315 mph.
@@Nowayout1804 That's incorrect. Max cruise on the Piper M600 is 274 knots, while the max cruise on the Pilatus PC-12 NGX is 290 knots.
Good comparison, Thank you
"jetlike" "military style" man you're a pro with the aviation lingo
Can’t even afford the tires of those planes, but ONE DAY NOT TODAY ................💭
Cocaine money
Better to buy propeller one not the turbo prop
MJ P turbo props have propellers also
When pigs fly.
@@lttldblj not a good idea
My employer had a Beechcraft King Air. As a passenger, the piece of mind from having engine redundancy is worth the extra cost.
@WH ROBY www.flyingmag.com/we-fly-beechcraft-king-air-250/ Apparently these are perfectly capable on one engine.
@WH ROBY
There wouldn't be much point in engineering in 2 engines if it couldn't fly on 1,
but yes, you would lose performance range.
@WH ROBY I call BS on that one. Pilot training is a huge factor in all non-crashes as well as crash sites
Chase roby doesn’t know shit. Airplanes with twin engines are designed to fly on one engine. That’s true the performance won’t be great, but it will be enough to get him safely on the ground.
WH ROBY dude, you’re an idiot. Airplanes with two engines, are designed to be able to fly on one engine. That is the point of having redundancy. It will not have a great performance, but with a trained pilot, it will be enough to get him safely on the ground. Stick your comic books dude.
You should have added the Piaggio Avanti EVO. It has them all beat
Pos
My family owns a Pilatus PC 12 and while not very fast is extremely enjoyable to fly in.
Me: "Oh nice, sir i'll order one today..."
Also me: "...hehehe kidding. I'm broke..."
not having a million is not being broke XD it's being normal
Sweet ! Tks Mike. I love turboprops. P.S. Are there any mini turboprops out there ? See Mike Patey's turbulence.
Is the exhaust design ot these airplanes is sticking out like this for a cooling purpose..??
IMO your content and editing and quality are all improving sir. Out of curiosity, where are you from and what is your first language?
Content and editing quality? You mean piecing together someone else's professionally produced corporate media and running some shitty voiceover on top of it? Yes. Top notch.
My choice would be the Piaggio Avante. Faster, more room, economical, even has a bathroom for those long trips. Check the specs out. Love your videos.
Cabot Sheley it sure is one hell of a plane if you look at the specs, but they’ve had many problems with parts and maintenance. Even the company has gone into administration recently. I hope they solve those issues, if they do they’re the only ones that can compete (and even beat) the king air
Maybe it costs too much to justify the faster speeds. Still it's impressive to see a twin turboprop being so fast.
Sorry, I prefer airplanes from companies that aren't bankrupt. Also, PC-12 has a solid-door bathroom like most light jets. King Airs have a curtained bathroom as well.
WHO'S GOIG TO FLY IT WHILE YOU ARE IN THE BATHROOM? HEHEHE
Great video as always Mike 👍🏼
down here in Australia they are used by the royal flying doctor service
The pc12
The first 3 are identical, the evolution is small cute and unique
The King Air is my Favorite plane!
ahh, you are making me jealous, i was happy with cessna caravan, now i want a tbm!
Great content as always!
is there a triple engine prop airplane?
Beautiful ships
th King air 200 is my most favourite because its bigger and cheaper and it holds more space!
You forgot the Piaggio Avante. It'll outperform 'em all.

What about Piaggio P-180 which is the fastest turboprop plane?
I agree about the Piaggio
If I ever get a rock band on tour, I know where to shop for a bird.
There was a whole additional digit in my own price projections. Is there no more efficient way to produce curves?!
yes why no mention of the Piaggio? Just an observation, why? not say the model has two engines. Different indicates, it has a PW engine on one side, with a GE on the other.
I really enjoyed the video
What about the Piper Meridian / Propjet?? Good video, thank you.
I would have used the Piper M600 as an example instead of the King Air or Palates. Those are more geared to charter service and not really GA.
Joe Critch I was about to make the same comment. Thank you
Great video Mike
Great video mike i need one of these
I believe the Piper m-600 should be the best next to the pc-12 NG. The PC 12 is over 5 mil but holds up to 11 people and the M-600 only holds 6 but is less than half the price.
piper meridian m600 might have been a better choice over the lancair evolution
Once again Mike, Thanks ! My favorite has ALWAYS been the PC-12. Hope to own one within the next couple of years. Got my Multi-Engine in a 1975 Model H, Piper Aztec and been looking for a good reason to add a Turboprop to my qualifications, I currently have over 1500 Incident FREE hours in the Aztec alone, which is now due for a Major Overhaul. Want to keep it and do some upgrade.
Great video with great content. 👍
Lain mag epic! I like this
Mike, you did a pro job on this video, maybe your best one yet!
thx mojo good coverage
THANK for YOUR response
Your description of auto land is incorrect. It's function is NOT to land the airplane in case something happens to the pilot. Aircraft certified for auto land can shoot instrument approaches to lower minimums of ceiling and visibility. The pilot must guide the aircraft to the approach, set the required approach airspeed, and configure the flaps and landing gear.
When you mentioned the top speed, is that the air speed or ground speed,?
@MojoGrip, the Lanceair cruises at about 300 kts with the most common engine choice!
Total inspiration
Good job, Mike.
Missing in this comparison is the Textron Denali. Regards
Majogrip, piaggio p 180 evo, cruise speed 400 mph
Thanks for your video mike
Another great, fun video. Mike, Thanks for sharing. 😁
Big fan of the King Air. Plus in case that engine stops, King Air has another to keep you from falling out of the sky. All are very capable and really cool. My personal favorite is the Pocket Rocket.
Nice job, short but sweet! Great overview
