I got a memo+ during Covid and a well struck 5 iron had very similar data to a track man. There was convexity to the spin where going up the spin seemed low resulting in too much wedge carry and going down too much spin rustling in often missed driver readings and spin too high. I have a shorter than optimal indoor setup. This year however with the fusion technology update (using the camera as for tracking) the numbers are much better and driver spin seems pretty accurate as well. With this update I’m very pleased with it.
Very happy with my Garmin R10, when set up properly I have found it pretty accurate. By set up correctly I mean latest software upgrade, correctly aligned and on a levelling base (see Global golf tech solutions), calibrated at the start of every session and using Awesome golf app software. The numbers seem pretty accurate and reliable. A UA-camr called David Maxwell golf in Queensland Australia has done several UA-cam videos about the Garmin R10 set up and recent comparison to the Mevo plus….arguably the R10 was better, certainly better value.
I have the mevo+ and use it at home. As far as reasonably affordable home setups go i think it's great. In nice weather i use it outside off a mat with a net - great for warming up before a round or for practice that gets costly at the range. In the process of a full garage build and you have to factor in other costs that come with that - making the trackman and GCQ even more out people's reach.
I've had a Mevo+ for almost 2 years now. I use it as a launch monitor indoor with a projector and screen, mostly used in the winter here in Canada to keep up on my swing and practice. I use TGC 2019 software and find the Mevo+ accurate indoors but it has to be set up correctly to be accurate indoor. I've never used it outdoors but others say it is accurate compared to other launch monitors. I bought the Mevo+ over others because I have right hand and left hand friends and because the Mevo+ sits behind and not beside the ball it is good for right and left handed golfers in an indoor setup.
@@stevenjames9487 ..... The Mevo+ is a radar based system and the dots are for the radar to pick up the spin and trajectory. The metal dots are for use indoors only as a launch monitor. However Titleist makes a ball called RCT and has metal bands inside the covering so you don't need the metal dots. I first used the dots but went through a lot of balls because the dot is oriented towards the screen and the ball is hit in the same general area every time and this would crack the ball after multiple times hit. But the RCT balls last a long time because you hit them anywhere on the ball. I bought 2 doz RCT balls and so far haven't cracked one after one winter of indoor playing. Not entirely sure what you mean by miss hits, if you mean topped shots, thin shots, shanks etc. it reads them. Biggest thing for indoor use is the having the correct space required and no interference from huge amounts of metal or say a refrigerator or a fan motor because the radar would get disturbed possibly. Here is a link to a video I made of my indoor golf room set up (I started with an Opti-shot but upgraded to the Mevo+) ua-cam.com/video/4E6RG-wyOiM/v-deo.html
Think for the Average Golfer this is over kill. Swing Caddie SC200 Plus (LCD Display) or SC300i (Includes App) makes more sense. Both are less than $500.00 or less and are pretty accurate.
I had a swing caddie and upgraded to a mevo+ as on my lessons the numbers were worlds apart with the swing caddie vs a trackman. My mevo+ is pretty much bang on, has helped with my 150 yards and in and my chips around the greens, have holed more chips and short pitches in the last 6 months than in all my life due to having a far better idea of how far my wedges go with different length swings. It's also good to take to the range or in the net in the garden (which i do now, and saves me a lot of range fees) as you get a lot more out of the sessions with what you can do with the apps and courses you can play etc. Obviously not for everyone with the price. Depends how much you want to improve.
Owned one for a bit with the pro package. Got it on sale with pro for about $2600 American. Awesome tool on the range and eventually hope to make a indoor sim at home and use it there.
Hey James, I would suggest that you get the little brother of the Mevo Plus. It is simply called the Mevo and costs about 400£ or $650 cdn. It gives you a half dozen parameters and is even smaller than the Plus and is slightly smaller than most handheld rangefinders. I highly recommend it
Although, I'm not in the market for a $2000-plus launch monitor, I definitely think it is something that is mandatory for game improvement these days. The only way you can really get to know your game is to start out with good data with distances, etc. I will likely end up with something a little less expensive that I can use in my backyard net so I can have a little more purpose to my practice back there.
I purchased a Swing Caddie launch monitor last year for under $200. It's slightly bigger than a normal cell phone but I've never taken it on the course so your idea is brilliant! I'll be doing a video soon enough using it on course! 🐊🏌🦅🇺🇲👍
Would like to see your thoughts on the flights scope mevo the cheapest and most accessible on for most golfers and if it would be a good training aid for those of us who don't have 2k spare
Its a good tool for the price point, but its not without its quirks. I have had mine for 2 years using it mostly out doors for gapping etc...For better spin numbers, leveling is key I have seen. It does not auto-level like the big boys do, which takes more time on setup. Great for range, not something you want to carry on the course JR :)
I’ve used the Mevo (not +) for over a year. It’s not too bad but, for the price of the Mevo+, and the additional “Pro” package, you’re getting into the range of the Bushnell Launch Pro. The part that frustrates me with the whole thing, and it goes well beyond launch monitors, is that the market allows a company to sell you a “crippled” device and then nickel and dime you for every “feature”. The device is completely capable of club data, why do they need to extort the extra money from you for something the device already does!
Not going to lie. This level of fiddling is so far beyond my 7.9 GHIN. I am still using an app that gives me the number to the middle of the green and I hit every approach shot to the dead middle of the green. If I can get to the point were I am hitting 12 greens or so in a round I will look to see what the next step is. That being said it does seem a quality product.
Currently own the Garmin R10, but have been thinking of the Flightscope as I don’t find R10 terribly accurate indoors. Any thoughts on the accuracy of this vs the Garmin? Would this be good indoors as well?
Wow, the scammers are out in full force today on the replies. I have a G80 that can be used as a launch monitor but the accuracy dwindles at the top of the bag. I have also read the more affordable monitors have the same problem too. My distances are first and foremost important to me, then all the other stuff later. In my readings the new monitor by Foresight that Tiger is pushing is pretty accurate but that costs $4000 US. Not sure if I need to know that bad.
The question is also, can you use it on the golfcourse all the time. Yes, the driving range for sure. But playing 18 holes, and the course flights are pretty packed...then not. If no one is around you on the course, yes!! The courses i play are always packed with people. No time to set it up at every hole and shot. 🤐🤐
I have the mevo + and I honestly wouldn’t recommend it as the carry and spin numbers are so inconsistent. I Regularly use a trackman at our club and the numbers don’t come close to matching up tbh
Same problem as the Garmin R10. Spin numbers are estimated which affects distance. On my Garmin my carry numbers are about 260/270 and in reality it's 285/295. I accept the tolerance but have also heard that garmin might be adding support for the Titleist RCT balls which will give accurate spin numbers and be a total game changer.
It is a great launch monitor . I have the pro package . Awesome but not good enough to understand data . When I use it on range for a 3 hr plus session. It’s great. I am lucky enough to be able to afford it . I also have the sc300 . Easier to set up and also gives me all the real data I need especially for a 1 or 2 hr session . The app is good as well and easier to use
it's the old story... you get what you pay for. Mevo+ also does putting so if you want it for a golf sim it would be far better. I had a R10 and found it to be crap. Sold mine and bought a Skytrak as I will only be using it inside on a sim.

Not even close lol
I have a Mevo+ and it is superb. Use it indoors and at the range, gives all the data points you need to improve your swing.

Can't see myself spending 2k to be told by a machine i'm crap at golf, my dad does that for free every round
But what particular kind of crap? That might well be worth something. But maybe not $2K.
😂😂😂

Flight scope worth every penny.

this is great for a home simulator setup. Great to work on your game and added fun during the winter times with friends.

Yes a comparison between this and the simulator would be fantastic.
I got the pro.
Amazing unit compares to trackman.
Only probable at the range it sometimes picts up the ball of the guy next to u
Did you change your camera? It looks super clear.

Are the carry numbers actually accurate to what you lasered on the course?
This is the best, gives you everything from ball data to club data (that means you get everything).
Really good bit of kit I would like to see the mevo plus ➕️ and the mevo standard go head to head for results
Something I'd certainly consider, a more in depth review would be great
Great review James 👍🏻. Would love to see a Garmin R10 review to compare.

Looks good! I received a Swing Caddie SC300 for Christmas. I believe it's about 25% the cost of the Flightscope you are testing...

Yes, let's see the comparison James.
Hit me up👆👆
I've used the mevo, mevo+ and X2, if I had the space to hit real balls indoors in winter I'd buy one in a heartbeat

You should review the Bushnell launch pro. It's double the cost of this but supposedly on par with the GC quad pro.
I have one and it’s far superior to any of these radar based systems. You get accurate spin numbers which means accurate ball data.

I don't know how much a lesson is in the UK however, I would imagine 10 or 15 lessons more valuable
Would it be possible to show the accuracy of this vs GC quad and hit shots in the simulator using both launch monitors at the same time?

I look forward to the day soon when you can buy a half decent launch monitor for home use in the practice net.
This Vs the Garmin R10 for 1/4 of the price is an interesting debate.
Is it value for money, say when you can get a Garmin R10 for less?
it's the old story... you get what you pay for. Mevo+ also does putting so if you want it for a golf sim it would be far better. I had a R10 and found it to be crap. Sold mine and bought a Skytrak as I will only be using it inside on a sim.
I would spend the money on flight ssss £3,000 gets me to Dubs or Ajman for 10 days in the winter.

Why pay 2k for that when the Garmin R10 is £500 and from reviews seems as good
I don't see the value unless you play golf for a living
No! Spend another $1k for a launch pro! Please people listen to me here. Foresight camera based systems are far superior to radar
