It completely baffles me that Meta insist on marketing their headsets as either work flow machines, or workout devices for single women who live in lofty apartments with blinding amounts of sunshine coming from every conceivable angle in the room. How about marketing it as a gaming device? Is that really such a difficult thing to do?
Maybe they take for a fact that they already have the people who use VR for gaming in their pocket and they need to attract these other segments, but god knows what is really going on inside Meta's doors

i do feel like some CEO of valve should watch this, they'd be the 2nd biggest corporation able to do something with this, making index, and games for vr, pushing it further, updating their hardware..they could easilly overthrow meta imo

@@mokurai8233 They won't though because they want people to play on standalone not pcvr, which is why all the latest meta vr games dont look as good as pcvr games from 2016. The only reason Zuck has invested this much into vr, is because he wants to get the tech small enough to fit into a pair of glasses, then have everyone wear those AR glasses all the time and record what everyone is doing 24/7 and sell the data.

I'd rather they become a software publisher on all platforms. They are not apple and never will be (also apple does not have the majority of the global market in other avenues, so copying them is pointless). But they do have the opportunity to establish themselves as a major hardware and software VR player if they respect an open market. We'll see how it will turn out in the end, though. Fingers crossed.
Meta has been working on cloud PCVR. Unsure if they will launch it but I would suspect they would integrate its cost into the meta + subscription model. This would give Q2, Q3, Q3s, and QPro users access to the rift library. You would see a revitalization of the rift library then.
Its so sad because i genuinely love my Quest 3... after getting Quest Game Optimizer, a BoboVR battery headstrap, a new facial interface and proper grips for the controllers. If we could actually get some good large-scale GAMES for it, I'd probably use it more than any of my consoles. We need more proper competition in this space, because Meta is the only one making affordable and accessible standalone headsets right now.
Agreed, question. What grips and facial interface do you use? I'm rocking a Kiwi head strap, and I'm happy with that, but whenever I see all the options for grips and facial interfaces, I'm a bit overwhelmed.
Q3 owner here too, and this is my first ever VR headset. I looked into all avenues to get into VR mid-2023 and opted to wait for the release of the Q3. I was a bit reluctant with it being Meta but decided it was the best overall option for me looking at a bunch of different factors. Competition is always good in any market. Imagine if there was just 1 available game console or 1 company that produced GPUs? (Actually, that's not too far from the truth right now with NVidia taking the lead, especially at the high end.) There will always be the chance that things will begin to stagnate or the sole player will effectively just do what the hell it wants. We have the Pico headset but it's not readily available worldwide. Then there's the issue with the owner, not that I particularly trust Meta that much more. The killer is obviously the lack of software exclusivity. I hope that there is another player on the horizon with standalone VR. However, I'd struggle to see how any other company could compete with the Meta behemoth that is burning through billions each year and consistently makes financial losses. They're just swallowing up studios and throwing cash at them and playing the long game, I guess. Who else could realistically do that?
@edturner9670 I personally believe that on the gpu front, nvidia is only really taking the lead with the 4090. I see everyone and his dog going with amd for everything else below that now tbf. I have a 4090 myself but I don't blame people that go with amd at that lower price point, you can't go wrong in comparison to the rest of nvidias equivalents, really.
@@Camishere2040 The overall price of a decent PC gaming rig that would be suitable for VR for a good few years was one of the things that put me off going down the PCVR route. Especially when I was looking at the price of decent GPU. When I was learned the price of a 4090 in mid 2023, my jaw hit the floor. I had the funds but the thought of spending a few grand and possibly then finding out that VR wasn't for me or worse still, I was maybe prone to VR sickness, put me right off. Plus, I do like the simplicity of the standalone Q3. Having said that, I did spend quite a bit more money on Q3 accessories. A replacement strap with extra battery was right on the top of my list which I'm sure is the same for most folks.
Playing Half Life Alyx in the Quest 3 on ultra settings is a bitter sweet experience. The game and graphics is WOW, but this is the high point of PCVR single player shooter thats over four years old with nothing close to it. Of course there is the HL2 vr, Uevr library, sims and other mods but no true high end PCVR games on the horizon....
HL: Alyx is probably the first game in the past decade that made me go "this is next gen". VR has absolutely incredible potential and you see none of it realized. But honestly not surprising when the average AAA slop is making more money then ever, thanks to predatory business practices that too many people fall for...
There is a game in development called Clone Drone in the Danger Zone VR, and though it isn't the most graphically impressive game ever, I think that the way it's doing VR combat is unmatched by anything.
Hey, Meta. Here’s a good idea: make a line/series of headsets for work, and another for fun and gaming as a separate line! Leave the two separated and things will be much better for everyone.
As a new Quest 3 owner (and former Rift S owner) I have to say that although the choices in regard to software are questionable, they do make awesome hardware for the price. And as long as Steam Link exists, there is an alternative for PCVR at least. I am open to buy Quest store apps if they offer tangible and *long lasting* value though.
I think right there it is the long lasting bit that is the problem with the software. With the loss of Echo and others I'm reluctant to buy any games on the meta platform.
@@SwetySnek I tested both Virtual Desktop and Steam Link thoroughly, and Steam Link somehow has better latency and tracking for me, especially in Beat Saber where it counts. I have the bitrate and encoding resolution maxed out, though.
I basically quit VR after that. There was nothing for me to do then. Meta is pain to develop for, as they still ( after years ) have not created linux compatibility for their products.
A Standalone set of $1500 or even more expensive, which probably cannot move well most poorly optimized PCVR games, as I find it difficult to make a specific version for that headset.

I remember. Almost 8 years ago. I saw a DanTDM video, a game called “Job Simulator”. This opened my eyes to VR. My cousin had a quest 1 and it felt life changing. Eventually, I got a quest 2 and could finally play it all on my own. I 100%ed the game and got vacation simulator. It was amazing. But now. I can’t find that spark anymore. Yeah all of the monke games are fun but I can never have that much fun anymore

Yeah I agree. I have a love/ hate relationship with Meta. But I'm not gonna sit here and pretend like they haven't kept VR a float. PCVR was dead when they took over, nobody was investing in pcs to play VR. Meta saw that and developed a standalone device at an affordable price to drive interest, and it worked largely. I would love to see a player come into the fray and give meta some competition, but it seems unlikely at this point. Valve is rumored to be making a standalone headset, but we've heard that for years now, and even if they are you know that things gonna be expensive and will likely only be bought by enthusiasts, leaving meta still in control of the market.

The Problem as to why meta is so dominant is because they are the ONLY STANDALONE vr headset that is AFFORDABLE. Every other headset requires something like a pc or playstation or some crappy vr from shoving a phone in a box.

Same, I hate meta and if they were still forcing a Facebook account to use it I wouldn't have gotten one. I got lucky and found a q2 used in good condition for a very affordable price, I had a few reasons to get it, I'm happy with it so far, and every game I have so far are free games. But I will never like meta. I will not live in the pod and eat the bugs, I will not be happy with owning nothing, but I will enjoy life while it lasts. 🤷♀️

Also the plethora of free games on sidequest. AoQ is my jam. The removal of a need for a FB account, the integration of the app lab into their direct store. They're a company, they want to make money. As long as enough people make their voices heard about things they don't like about it they will change for the better to avoid losing money. And if not they will fail.
Has Valve given up on it... Or do they just tell us nothing about what they are working on and only release things once every 10 years. (Like the Steam VR software is constantly being retooled and optimized... But keeping a platform open and functioning with no marketing push behind it is only gonna help so much.)

Every VR game in the current day is cheap copy and paste. You get a few amazing original ones like No Man’s Sky and Skyrim VR but nothing comes close. Me a simple person can have the best ideas that are easily doable. But now game wise we are stuck in a cheap loop while the games are selling at full prices up to £80/$100 that goes for PC games not just Meta headset standalone games too! Companies need to step up now
Not to mention that the game market has been oversaturated with cash-grabs and there hasn't really been a GREAT VR game since Boneworks and ALYX (possibly due to too many people developing Quest games). And people ask me why I don't like the Quest...
Meta is the only one keeping VR alive, pouring billions of dollars into R&D and wider adoptation, despite of losses. Quest 3 was the best piece of pure mind-changing technology piece purchased by me in 20 years. If not Meta me and my family would not experience it.
I agree, but I do think them buying and shutting down studios is horrible, and anti competitive so I can see his point. From a mass adoption pov I can see how meta has brought incredible innovations.

From a consumer point of view I can see that new quality VR games and experiences are coming every day, that I don't have time even to tey them all, like never before.
@@Eng.Garin. They did democratize the hardware VR market. Hopefully they will do so for software as well in the long run. I like the idea of concerts on horizon worlds even though it looks a little low tier graphically, but it's a cool experience.

oh.... and the best part here.... is .... i bet that Q2 still works after chunking it. unless it rained on it its battery exploded from exposure to the moisture / heat the lens fried the screens by focusing sun rays of liquified plasma death on the or some children living in the shrubery down there popped up and yoinked it actually just holding it out there like that on the patio under the sun can quickly destroy the screens you could have just given it to other viewers that would have charished it and really have made someones day (even if just for parts)
I'm just gonna say it, you were not nearly critical enough of Meta. Like someone else said, "you don't hate big companies enough" and this applies very strongly to Facebook, especially as a VR enthusiast. I am HAPPY their VR endeavour failed so badly, because the only thing worse than Meta failing in VR, is Meta succeeding in VR. Imagine the horror of what VR would look like if they actually hit it off.

I understand your point but it doesn't really affect, to get the most out of the glasses is to use them with a PC through Steam VR, the whole system that META created does not even need to exist.
one thing that i believe is absolutely unforgivable for facebook's vr projects (fuck your "meta" you're still the same) was the consequence of cheapening the quest. the new market made more opportunities to earn money and naturally attracted most major VR companies to make games compatible/exclusive to it, regardless if the devs working on those games wanted to or not. but the reason the quest was so cheap was because of it's magnificently less-than-ideal hardware. no sugarcoating actually, it was just simply utter dogshit because now there was basically a way to get free money by simply demaking/downgrading (or even remaking from scratch) the game for quest and THEN putting it on pcvr, as a side-project, we inadvertantly saw SO MANY absolutely AWESOME titles get skullfucked and turn into an ugly, bland, flat mess. no more PBR, no more shinyness, no more TRANSPARENT TEXTURES (quest tech is so shit it can barely handle them), less decals, less details, less particles, lower res textures, less polygons, less shadows less everything. compare and contrast the visual style of boneworks and pre-corpofication onward with their modern questified counterparts. vr graphics were going so far and so fast until the elites decided to do their thing. like take bonelab for example: the only way that they BARELY makes up for the atrocious graphical downgrading is by adding volumetric lighting for pcvr, which is still not worth it as the interesting, unique visual style of the first game had to be cut down and butchered because it was too graphically expensive for the quest. dont even get me started on how the cheapness introduced hordes of braindead spoiled richkid children into our niche communities that are now nearly unusable because most messages are incomprehensible ROT as always, the elites use their midas' touch to turn anything they touch into smoldering ash. everything i loved about VR is gone. there is no more community, it doesnt look good anymore, the people arent fun to play with anymore, my favorite vr content creators became grifters probably under zuck's paycheck, and buying anything that isnt the index is directly monetarily supporting and funding a batshit insane dystopian future this sucks, please bring me back to 2019 😭😭
The communities are gone, but there is still light at the end of the tunnel. They're a few good apples (games basically) that really do bring the best out of the technology. It may take a long time to bring back the community it used to have and frankly might be impossible. But we need more good multiplayer experiences for that to happen instead of just VR Chat.
I hate to say it but at this stage, meta is the only thing keeping vr alive. No one else really wants to get involved right now because there's just no financial incentive. It's better to wait for the userbase to increase first before diving in. Sadly there's just no reason to even put a headset on these days. For me personally. Behemoth, batman, metro or alien aren't likely to bring me back if i'm being honest. Hopefully it entices flat screen fans of those games
yeah, its also kinda niche. the ports of nonvr games to vr are pretty good, but you start to see flaws with design that make playing hard without mods.
Can't speak on Behemoth or Metro since we haven't seen the most of either (especially their Quest 3 ports), but Camoflauj has been putting in TRUE hard work and dedication into making Batman virtually flawless. They just released another Q&A video and they're releasing more info about the game at Connect. THIS is one that looks like a true must play
There's one small tiny misunderstanding in this video: While, technically, META does have full control (in a immediate certain way) to what's released or removed from their VR app store, it's NOT the only way to get games on any of the Quest/Standalone META headsets. The Meta App Store (or whatever it names it) is only the SIMPLEST way of releasing the game and getting money out of it. Did you know you can install a game on the Quest headset in the same way as you can install a game on an Android phone from a PC? Yes, you can install game on the META Quest headsets with a PC and nope it's not against any user agreement bullcrap users has to agree to while using the device. In fact, restricting the user from installing software on the device via a wire connection is actually illegal in certain countries nowadays as long as the headset software is not tempered with in ways that damages the product or its brand directly and publicly. And META cannot completely restrict its device's USB-C port because it's using it itself for quite a few things and it would kill its device to make the headset not PC-compatible anymore for PCVR players. What you can't do with game being installed on the META Quest headset via its USB-C port is accessing most of the META account's data via its incorporated systems that comes bundled with the META's API used in game engines. If you want an account system to work with your game without using the META App store, you got to make the game use something like someone's Facebook account or just generate your own accounts system for a game. The reason why nobody release a game outside of the META App Store is the same reason why so few people release their game for purchase on their own website nowadays: It's just so much easier to just add the Steam API or Epic API or the Ubisoft API or whatever to allow the user to access previously-mentioned-system account and also to secure and manage payments from the player and access statistics data on sales, visitors, reviews, etc. Also, for the soon-to-be-players, installing an app from a "unknown source" has its own risks. It's like if you install a new app on your phone from a website with a USB cable and PC: there's nothing telling you what is actually in the app. So you got to build a trust with the players in a MUCH SLOWER way until, if luck is involved, the thing hits for real and people start to follow others in joining the club. But, it doesn't remove the option from existing.
Great detailed reply. Meta monopolizing VR seems like a very not informed take by the video creator. Meta is helping the space by proving a great price for people to get into vr and they are not gatekeeping it like you mentioned there are other options.
There must be money in it somewhere to actively take the time to remove these games. Also, Meta taking submitted ideas from outside devs, its like if EA submitted a game to Sony or Microsoft for certification, and they reject it but release themselves under a new skin. Also reminds me of Babylon 5 being stolen and regurgitate as Deep Space 9 story.
I just played Jurassic World Aftermath, that definitely hasn’t been culled. It’s still a banger too! Marvel Powers United I’m gutted I missed out on but it seems due to a contract expiring with Marvel than just shutting it down for no reason. I know there are ways to get this working now ;)

You should get the official wireless adapter it gets rid of the annoying cables and also you can use your headset anywhere in your house as long as you have your pc turned on

i got my quest 2 3 and a half years ago, and it was absolutely amazing. looking back, everything about it was perfect. my favorite memories in vr ever (i still play consistently to this day btw) are early gorilla tag like christmas 2022ish and it really just hasnt been the same since they were rebranded to meta. rip oculus😔

Capitalism, at its core, promotes competition and innovation, but when a company like META eliminates competitors and concentrates its power, it distorts that principle, creating monopolies that go against the free market.

Its so sad because i genuinely love my Quest 3... after getting Quest Game Optimizer, a BoboVR battery headstrap, a new facial interface and proper grips for the controllers. If we could actually get some good large-scale GAMES for it, I'd probably use it more than any of my consoles.

Q3 owner here too, and this is my first ever VR headset. I looked into all avenues to get into VR mid-2023 and opted to wait for the release of the Q3. I was a bit reluctant with it being Meta but decided it was the best overall option for me looking at a bunch of different factors.
Competition is always good in any market. Imagine if there was just 1 available game console or 1 company that produced GPUs? (Actually, that's not too far from the truth right now with NVidia taking the lead, especially at the high end.) There will always be the chance that things will begin to stagnate or the sole player will effectively just do what the hell it wants. We have the Pico headset but it's not readily available worldwide. Then there's the issue with the owner, not that I particularly trust Meta that much more. The killer is obviously the lack of software exclusivity.
I hope that there is another player on the horizon with standalone VR. However, I'd struggle to see how any other company could compete with the Meta behemoth that is burning through billions each year and consistently makes financial losses. They're just swallowing up studios and throwing cash at them and playing the long game, I guess. Who else could realistically do that?
@edturner9670 I personally believe that on the gpu front, nvidia is only really taking the lead with the 4090. I see everyone and his dog going with amd for everything else below that now tbf. I have a 4090 myself but I don't blame people that go with amd at that lower price point, you can't go wrong in comparison to the rest of nvidias equivalents, really.
@@Camishere2040 The overall price of a decent PC gaming rig that would be suitable for VR for a good few years was one of the things that put me off going down the PCVR route. Especially when I was looking at the price of decent GPU. When I was learned the price of a 4090 in mid 2023, my jaw hit the floor.
I had the funds but the thought of spending a few grand and possibly then finding out that VR wasn't for me or worse still, I was maybe prone to VR sickness, put me right off. Plus, I do like the simplicity of the standalone Q3. Having said that, I did spend quite a bit more money on Q3 accessories. A replacement strap with extra battery was right on the top of my list which I'm sure is the same for most folks.
Playing Half Life Alyx in the Quest 3 on ultra settings is a bitter sweet experience. The game and graphics is WOW, but this is the high point of PCVR single player shooter thats over four years old with nothing close to it.
Of course there is the HL2 vr, Uevr library, sims and other mods but no true high end PCVR games on the horizon....
HL: Alyx is probably the first game in the past decade that made me go "this is next gen". VR has absolutely incredible potential and you see none of it realized. But honestly not surprising when the average AAA slop is making more money then ever, thanks to predatory business practices that too many people fall for...
There is a game in development called Clone Drone in the Danger Zone VR, and though it isn't the most graphically impressive game ever, I think that the way it's doing VR combat is unmatched by anything.

I KNEW I was right about hating on the rebrand so much.
As a new Quest 3 owner (and former Rift S owner) I have to say that although the choices in regard to software are questionable, they do make awesome hardware for the price.
And as long as Steam Link exists, there is an alternative for PCVR at least. I am open to buy Quest store apps if they offer tangible and *long lasting* value though.
I think right there it is the long lasting bit that is the problem with the software. With the loss of Echo and others I'm reluctant to buy any games on the meta platform.

@@SwetySnek I tested both Virtual Desktop and Steam Link thoroughly, and Steam Link somehow has better latency and tracking for me, especially in Beat Saber where it counts. I have the bitrate and encoding resolution maxed out, though.
I miss Echo VR. I have found other games I like but nothing has scratched that itch the way echo vr did

I remember. Almost 8 years ago. I saw a DanTDM video, a game called “Job Simulator”. This opened my eyes to VR. My cousin had a quest 1 and it felt life changing. Eventually, I got a quest 2 and could finally play it all on my own. I 100%ed the game and got vacation simulator. It was amazing. But now. I can’t find that spark anymore. Yeah all of the monke games are fun but I can never have that much fun anymore

Yeah I agree. I have a love/ hate relationship with Meta. But I'm not gonna sit here and pretend like they haven't kept VR a float. PCVR was dead when they took over, nobody was investing in pcs to play VR. Meta saw that and developed a standalone device at an affordable price to drive interest, and it worked largely. I would love to see a player come into the fray and give meta some competition, but it seems unlikely at this point. Valve is rumored to be making a standalone headset, but we've heard that for years now, and even if they are you know that things gonna be expensive and will likely only be bought by enthusiasts, leaving meta still in control of the market.

The Problem as to why meta is so dominant is because they are the ONLY STANDALONE vr headset that is AFFORDABLE. Every other headset requires something like a pc or playstation or some crappy vr from shoving a phone in a box.

I got lucky and found a q2 used in good condition for a very affordable price, I had a few reasons to get it, I'm happy with it so far, and every game I have so far are free games. But I will never like meta. I will not live in the pod and eat the bugs, I will not be happy with owning nothing, but I will enjoy life while it lasts. 🤷♀️

Every VR game in the current day is cheap copy and paste. You get a few amazing original ones like No Man’s Sky and Skyrim VR but nothing comes close. Me a simple person can have the best ideas that are easily doable. But now game wise we are stuck in a cheap loop while the games are selling at full prices up to £80/$100 that goes for PC games not just Meta headset standalone games too!

Like someone else said, "you don't hate big companies enough" and this applies very strongly to Facebook, especially as a VR enthusiast. I understand your point but it doesn't really affect, to get the most out of the glasses is to use them with a PC through Steam VR, the whole system that META created does not even need to exist.
Video essays about "perfect visions and projects" and the VR world in general is by far the type of video I enjoy the most on UA-cam rn.
one thing that i believe is absolutely unforgivable for facebook's vr projects (fuck your "meta" you're still the same) was the consequence of cheapening the quest. the new market made more opportunities to earn money and naturally attracted most major VR companies to make games compatible/exclusive to it, regardless if the devs working on those games wanted to or not. but the reason the quest was so cheap was because of it's magnificently less-than-ideal hardware. no sugarcoating actually, it was just simply utter dogshit
because now there was basically a way to get free money by simply demaking/downgrading (or even remaking from scratch) the game for quest and THEN putting it on pcvr, as a side-project, we inadvertantly saw SO MANY absolutely AWESOME titles get skullfucked and turn into an ugly, bland, flat mess. no more PBR, no more shinyness, no more TRANSPARENT TEXTURES (quest tech is so shit it can barely handle them), less decals, less details, less particles, lower res textures, less polygons, less shadows less everything.
compare and contrast the visual style of boneworks and pre-corpofication onward with their modern questified counterparts. vr graphics were going so far and so fast until the elites decided to do their thing. like take bonelab for example: the only way that they BARELY makes up for the atrocious graphical downgrading is by adding volumetric lighting for pcvr, which is still not worth it as the interesting, unique visual style of the first game had to be cut down and butchered because it was too graphically expensive for the quest.

The communities are gone, but there is still light at the end of the tunnel. They're a few good apples (games basically) that really do bring the best out of the technology. It may take a long time to bring back the community it used to have and frankly might be impossible. But we need more good multiplayer experiences for that to happen instead of just VR Chat.
Most developers weren't making money on PCVR. Quest is currently the only platform developers can make money on.

I hate to say it but at this stage, meta is the only thing keeping vr alive. No one else really wants to get involved right now because there's just no financial incentive. It's better to wait for the userbase to increase first before diving in. Sadly there's just no reason to even put a headset on these days. For me personally. Behemoth, batman, metro or alien aren't likely to bring me back if i'm being honest. Hopefully it entices flat screen fans of those games
yeah, its also kinda niche. the ports of nonvr games to vr are pretty good, but you start to see flaws with design that make playing hard without mods.
Can't speak on Behemoth or Metro since we haven't seen the most of either (especially their Quest 3 ports), but Camoflauj has been putting in TRUE hard work and dedication into making Batman virtually flawless. There's one small tiny misunderstanding in this video:
While, technically, META does have full control (in a immediate certain way) to what's released or removed from their VR app store, it's NOT the only way to get games on any of the Quest/Standalone META headsets. The Meta App Store (or whatever it names it) is only the SIMPLEST way of releasing the game and getting money out of it.
Did you know you can install a game on the Quest headset in the same way as you can install a game on an Android phone from a PC?
Yes, you can install game on the META Quest headsets with a PC and nope it's not against any user agreement bullcrap users has to agree to while using the device.
In fact, restricting the user from installing software on the device via a wire connection is actually illegal in certain countries nowadays as long as the headset software is not tempered with in ways that damages the product or its brand directly and publicly. And META cannot completely restrict its device's USB-C port because it's using it itself for quite a few things and it would kill its device to make the headset not PC-compatible anymore for PCVR players.
What you can't do with game being installed on the META Quest headset via its USB-C port is accessing most of the META account's data via its incorporated systems that comes bundled with the META's API used in game engines. If you want an account system to work with your game without using the META App store, you got to make the game use something like someone's Facebook account or just generate your own accounts system for a game.
The reason why nobody release a game outside of the META App Store is the same reason why so few people release their game for purchase on their own website nowadays: It's just so much easier to just add the Steam API or Epic API or the Ubisoft API or whatever to allow the user to access previously-mentioned-system account and also to secure and manage payments from the player and access statistics data on sales, visitors, reviews, etc.
Also, for the soon-to-be-players, installing an app from a "unknown source" has its own risks. It's like if you install a new app on your phone from a website with a USB cable and PC: there's nothing telling you what is actually in the app. So you got to build a trust with the players in a MUCH SLOWER way until, if luck is involved, the thing hits for real and people start to follow others in joining the club.
But, it doesn't remove the option from existing.

i got my quest 2 3 and a half years ago, and it was absolutely amazing. looking back, everything about it was perfect. my favorite memories in vr ever (i still play consistently to this day btw) are early gorilla tag like christmas 2022ish and it really just hasnt been the same since they were rebranded to meta. rip oculus😔
