I really enjoyed listening to David Farthings talk on the amazing William Walker. As a child in the 1950s my family lived in Liverpool and my father used to tell us stories of a hero called Diver Bill. I cannot remember the stories he made up but I always remembered the name. Fast forward to my sister moving to Micheldever in the early 90s and of course, when I visited her we went to see the Cathedral. When I was reading the inscription about William and it suddenly hit me - Diver Bill was a real life hero ! I wish dad was still around to share my delight. Judy
