Does it only work on babies because they are still growing? Will they undo the "cochealr implant"? Imagine having assymetric hearing with one headphone only.
This is a really rare form of hearing loss, but my son was just diagnosed with the same thing (Auditory neuropathy spectrum disorder) unilaterally. His right ear is normal and in his left ear he is profoundly deaf. I also heard of a boy this year in the US who got this gene therapy treatment, and it completely restored his hearing to normal levels. This has to do with the OTOF gene, so I guess genetic testing Is needed to see if that is the cause of my son’s auditory neuropathy. Does anybody know what percentage of people with auditory neuropathy have it because of this gene mutation and meet all the qualifications to be candidates for this gene therapy?
Modified viruses have been used for many things from these treatments to vaccines (most vaccines are inert viruses, unable to make you sick, but it’s still enough to get your immune system on the attack.)
This is just the future. Birds have been able to regenerate their hearing forever. Soon hearing loss and tinnitus will be cured with a simple pill or injection.

You know, words like "gene therapy" actually have meanings, it's not just "any science I don't like". Gene therapy means permanently changing the DNA of one or more cells in the body for therapeutic purposes, like what was done in this video. The vaccine did not change any DNA in any cell at any time. It delivered mRNA which was turned into a protein by your own cells which was used to defend against the coronavirus.
