Great piece of history combined with the present day use of the Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel. I used to ride on it when I was stationed aboard the USS Seattle AOE- when I was in the Navy where my first ship was homeported in Norfolk, VA. I rode on it from 10/20/1972 to 7/31/1974 a total of 31 times in each direction.
I RODE THOSE FERRY BOATS WHEN I WAS A BOY. EVERY YEAR MY DAD WOULD GO TO VIRGINIA TO CHECK HIS OYSTER GROUNDS IN THE JAMES AND, YORK RIVERS AND, WE LOVED RIDING THOSE FERRIES. I ALSO RODE THEM AFTER THEY CAME TO THE DELAWARE BAY.
