Legend has it that Larry made a deal with the devil. Nobody knows what Larry got, but the devil learned how to shoot 3’s.
Something I have noticed in so many of the interviews about Larry or with Larry himself is that he never calls any of his coaches by their names unless he says coach first. Not even his high school coach. He shows respect to the people who helped him get to where he is as a person today.
I saw my high school coach about 5 or 6 yrs ago. I was about 45 yrs old. I recognized him, but wasn't sure. As soon as he confirmed that he had coached that team, i immediately called him coach for the rest of the conversation, because that's all i ever called him
Jordan picked Bird over lebron as the greatest small forward. Jordan had a rule for his teammates when playing Bird, “Not a single person. Not one word. No one talk to Larry Bird”.
While in college Larry's team was playing mine. We heard they had a future all American on their team so during warm ups we tried to guess which black player he was. Man were we wrong! He beat us and set an arena scoring record! Really enjoyed your reaction. Peace from Northern Michigan.
Even Jordan was 0-6 against Bird in the playoffs and Bird was 19-11 against Jordan in the regular season! Bird was an assassin!
We had good quality TV ,then. To many generations of the video. Also, there was a lot of tape recorded, NBA,games.
yeah the replays show it super blurry
It's just a poor quality video tape. TV's were quite sharp in those days, but digital recording didn't exist, so the resolution wasn't what it is today. Even the best video tape recordings you could make at home weren't as good as the original broadcast, and they would get worse with each copy.
Watching Bird shoot in that first three point contest is like watching a machine. Reminds of the great Secretariat winning the hardest and longesst race in the Triple Crown by 32 links. Both were phenomenal moments in sports history.
New subscriber. Larry Bird is Jesus here in Boston. They played a whole different game. Playing rough, no fouls, no big dramatics, playing hurt (broke his CHEEKBONE in a game, then came back out when the game started going bad and came out swingin. TOUGH. AS. NAILS.
Larry never lost a 3 point challenge he had a 3 peat
The TV picture was clear and sharp when it was aired back in the day. The tape it was recorded on has degraded over the years. Just didn't want you to think this quality of picture was what we had to watch back then. Sometimes we had "snow" on the screen if we were using an antenna and didn't have good reception, but otherwise the picture quality was good.
Thats when we broke out the tin foil! 🤣😂🤣
I think most of the greats have that thing in common, that if they are having a bad night and someone is dumb enough to trash talk them, they just switch gears and dominate.
All three stars; Magic, Larry and Mike - the trait they shared most was competitiveness. Larry needed extra incentive during the season, because he had to have a reason to push himself when the game was not really competitive. Same with the trash talk. It was specific and directly stating, "you don't belong on my court." That meant he had to refocus and take care of business. Both Larry and Mike were ruthless about winning and took no prisoners. Mike would basically invent a transgression against him to get a refocus on shredding somebody. Magic was more vocal about showing respect to other players - he was a showman, as well as a special player.
Danny Ainge was the one talking about the "ball boy",,,? lol This is great...there are clips in here I've never seen before!
Bird made the shot from behind the backboard to settle a bet. he'd forgotten about it until the guy reminded him lol.
Larry Bird was like superman or Great white shark back then mess around with him.
Larry Legend is the G.O.A.T of trash talkers. 🐐
Thing with Larry is, whatever he faked doing the other player knew he could and would actually do, so they couldn’t afford NOT to react to the fakes. I saw a play where he started what looked like a jump shot only to pass before actually shooting while in the air. You really couldn’t presume anything was a fake.
One of the Pacers stated that when he was there coach, he walked to the court when the team was doing practice drills and just started shooting three's all in front of them.
He made 10 in a row before going back to the side and sitting like he ain't done nothing!
You sound good, I hope you’re improving. Larry is the goat! I’ve been watching the NBA four over 40 years, nothing will come close
Love these Larry Bird trash stories!!! Glad you are feeling better, and you sound good 😊
Larry Bird never lost a 3 point contest. And the last 2 he would make it close to challenge himself. That last year he needed 8 out of 10 including the Money Balls just to win the last one. 80% on the last 2 racks. That's what Larry Bird was like, he was always challenging himself all the time!!!!!
I was a teenager living about 40 miles south of Cleveland. I was a huge Cavs fan but Bird was my favorite player. My dad asked me if I wanted to go to a Cavs game and I can chose the game . I chose to see the Celtics and Cavs. To this day I remember being amazed by just the pregame shoot around. Bird was just flipping shots up from all around the court without looking. Nothing but net. Thank you for the video.
Young Larry Bird you would not what to mas around with him back then 80s.
i could tell
He got 23 in the first round and was in first place. You got to watch the video that showed all three three point contests
send video
@@PzoThePlug will find it for you! Also want to find a video Bird said he got his step back from a Celtics player called Terry Durod. Bird said it was in practice his rookie year.was in a video.Trying to find that video and want to look up Durod too. I think bird said he was a player off the bench.
@@PzoThePlug sent you the video link but don't see it now if was put out there by hoops madness. I just looked up Larry bird 3 point contests and it came up. There are others that go into more detail each year. Hope you got the link
More of the good old Larry stuff! Hope you get well soon!
Ya ma boy! That one with the Sorcery it was just great!!!
And yes we had that shit tv's back then but it was great! The whole family sitting in front of that lil tv yeah... long time...
Several Hawks players got fined for laughing and applauding Larry on a night when he was TORCHING them all 🤣 you can see during the game they were falling off the bench in laughter.
LOL
Check out 5 times Bird played injured. Great job as always
will do. Thank You !!
That's been recorded over & over tv was not as bad as it looks like there😂✌
Love the trash talk vids! Glad you're feeling better! It's the weather... everyone's getting sick. Bird didn't lose any year! What are talking about? lol He won all three years he entered...he didn't compete the year after due to injury but he never lost.
Definitely the weather.. I thought Bird lost before he went on a CRAZY STREAK to win LOL!
@@PzoThePlug No, Bird competed in the first 3 years they had the contest. The first year they had the contest was in 86'.
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
It's blurry because its on video tape
On a lot shorter note, yep, he's called Larry Legend for good reason....hope you're feeling better by now, man! You sounded okay to me.
No one guards a guy shooting from behind the backboard. lol
Hi sir .
But this is by no means the best highlights film of Bird.
js
This was a great reaction but you should check out NBA Legends On Larry Bird Trash Talking video, it's better for his trash talking skills. 😂✌️🏀
Alot of this is recorded on tape which degrades.
I AM GLAD YOUR NANE IS NOT ISHA. I AM GLAD YOU ARE NOT LYING. THANK YOU.
😀🔥👍🏀
Too much talking & stopping the video!
