Quit watching the NBA in the mid 70s. Came back when Magic and Bird came in. Watched every game I could for the next thirteen years. Bird and Magic are still my favorite players.
I started to watch the NBA in the 70s, The Lakers with Wilt, West, Goodrich, etc were my team. But I switched allegiance to the Celtics when Larry arrived. Watched the NBA thru the Jordan years, Kobe, etc until maybe 5 years ago when I became sick and tired of the new modern NBA. But Bird is the best I have ever seen, better than Jordan, LeBron, etc.
Funny,, even though I went with the Celtics, I always had. my favorites on the Lakers: West and Baylor. Wanted the Celtics to win,but also wanfed those two to havs a good game. Same was true about Magic in the 80s All the best.
When Larry smacked his face on the parquet in that game against the Pacers, he actually suffered a *fractured right cheekbone and concussion* , and was told he was done for the game- he snuck back out of the locker room when the team doc’s back was turned to rejoin the team.
Broken cheekbone, concussion and double vision - and that tough MF got back out on the court and DOMINATED, leading the Celtics to victory.
Keep digging into Larry, and then you’ll truly understand why he is called Larry Legend.
he practiced so much that even with double vision his muscle memory was like..... we got this..
I know and I appreciate you telling these guys because when they announced it, both these guys were so busy talking, chirping and saying stuff that they didn't hear it.
It's key to listen to some of the key stuff in these old Larry Bird films.
While playing with bone spurs in both heels and his chronically injured back.
Will never be another Larry Legend.
Double vision means double the chances of making the bucket.
He also spent the night before & after that game in traction at Mass General because of his back. He was just different.
Larry Legend is the GOAT in my opinion
The Bird is the greatest all-around basketball player of all time.
PS - The name "Ghetto Action News Network" has given me a really big smile. You should write a movie script around that, make it a 70's Dolomite reporter that also fights crime. Bravo!
… hands down
Top 5 but MJ is better 💯
@@raheemwalker24 MJ is the best individual player, but Bird was certainly the best team player to play the game. Also Bird is 6-0 against Jordan in the playoffs, with his bad back.
Its paper thing between MJ and Bird for me. If I was drafting an all time team and someone took MJ first, and I had the next pick................I wouldnt be upset taking Bird.
Then Magic, Kobe, Kareem...Wilt.
Very tough for me to put anyone from this current generation in the top 10. The game has become so soft and there is no defense allowed with sending a player to jail for playing it.
James Harden is the epitome of what is wrong with the NBA......No defense and 40 shots a game.
LeFlop.......nuff said.
If Curry played in the 80's and 90's........he would be taking 3 pointers from the concession stand.
Bird was and still is the definition of the "complete player".
Yep, Basketball is a team game and Bird exemplifies that. Sure, Bird had games with incredible individual performances, but he was a team player and probably the best to play the game in that aspect.
In a league packed with legends, he DOMINATED. He beat everybody there was to beat in his era. We knew after his first year he was going to be that player. He took a 29 win team and turned them into a 67 win team including playoffs as a rookie. Great days for Celtics basketball!!
Larry was certainly a legend. Won Rookie of the Year, MVP, Coach of Year, Executive of the Year, and has a Gold Medal in Basketball, he was top of the game at pretty much all levels.
LARRY LEGEND IS A UNICORN AND THE TRUE GOAT!!! 🐐 ☘️
man bird’s steal against the pistons is one of the most legendary moments in nba history
seeing the pistons go from our elation blocking bird one second to absolute agony 2 seconds later is insane. to think what was going through that legendary pistons team’s head in less than 30 seconds is wild
Bird is in my top three all time. React to his Greatest Passer Re-Edit video! Subbed!!!!
The GOAT!!!!
Mike,Magic & Larry are the best three players I’ve ever seen
What I love more about Larry Bird is when people who are not Larry Bird bands because maybe they weren't around at that time and they watch Larry Bird and they realize he is called the legend for a reason❤❤❤ they better put some respect on his name😊😊😊 even Magic Johnson at his retirement said he was the best player ever and they were Rivals❤❤
Great reaction! Bird is simply awesome!! My all time favorite.
Please react to more Bird. Lots of great vids.
Thanks!
Larry’s retirement ceremony was at the Garden on a off night, no scheduled game. It was sold out standing room only, respect👍
Larry Bird was the BEST all round player the league has ever seen, period. He was dangerous from anywhere on the court including behind the back board. He did things routinely that other player could only dream of doing or have nightmares about. His mental Acquity and game awareness were unrivaled. He played with injuries that would sideline player today for a month. He and Magic were fierce competitors on the court and became fierce lifelong friends off the court. Larry was the reason I became a Celtics fan and I live in Missouri. I watched him from his first game to his last. As Magic told him when Larry retired, "Larry, there will never, ever, EVER be another Larry Bird. He should be ranked in the top three all time, He and Magic saved the NBA that got lower ratings than re-runs of Gun Smoke. Why he isn't is a discussion for another time.
Missouri here too 👏
The all time greats say Larry was more dangerous when he didn’t have the ball, the competition’s focus was on Larry and left his teammates open with lax coverage.
“Jordan made you look slow, Larry made you look stupid” great quote
He was so good all around! Crazy good!
Magic & Larry, resurrected the game of basketball...My dad loved basketball, but stopped watching, until the competition between Johnson & Bird was highlighted...What my Dad used to say, about Larry's game, is that it reminded him of someone, who wasn't only playing basketball, but also, volleyball, dodgeball, football, soccer, & strategic chess, all at the same time, & what made him so great 😊He certainly was one of the most unique & gifted players, I ever watched!
His passing is legendary and he was not a ball hog like some players😊😊😊
this is how much respect everyone had for Larry... they sold out every single seat for Bird's retirement.. their was nothing else going on after or before that on that day.. thats not a Legend.. Thats A Fact....
I am not a basketball fan actually I'm an old lady that's into MMA and I have seen probably every clip on Larry Bird they're possibly is😊😊😊😊 the more you see about him the more you love him and just one of the many things is his tenacity and his basketball IQ and his dedication to one team the Boston Celtics which is what made them great and is what made him a legend❤❤❤❤
The game against the Pacers when Bird's face hit the floor he fractured his right cheek. The night before that game he spent in the hospital in traction. They said he had difficulties getting dressed to play that game. He refused shots and pain killers his entire career.
When Bird came back in that game, he had a fractured cheekbone and a concussion. He said he was seeing three baskets, so he aimed for the one in the middle. 😂😂😂
His best Stat is on his retirement it was soldout stadium with no game schedule that night. No other player in any sport ever did that.
Hey guys, new sub. Great video. I recommend his Passing highlights and his Trash talking highlights from NBA greats. Much love to the channel.
.. you just opened
a can of Larry Bird !
Keep researching
Bird , you haven’t
seen nothing yet !
Larry Bird's passing was SUBLIME. He was a generous teammate.
How can anyone judge a mans real capabilities from a dam video game-??
Magic and Larry Shooting a commercial in French Lick. Larry brought Magic home for lunch. Larry's mom said 'did you tell him?' Larry told Magic, 'Your my moms favorite player.'😂
A career 24-10-6 guy . It’s always forgotten he gave you 10 boards a game as well . Bird was a savant at running down loose balls .
The first 2-3 years I was like this guy is the luckiest guy in the NBA ( I was a DR J fan) when Bird came to the NBA , my dad told me your not lucky you are good if you do it year after year . Then I became a bird fan .
Great shooter and passer...but also 10.0 rebounds a game for his career and 3-time member of the NBA All Defensive Second Team. After his playing days he was Coach of the Year and later Executive of the Year with the Pacers.
he could have had better stats IF he was SELFISH.
For 7 straight seasons he was either the NBA MVP or runner up!
During a back to back to back MVP repeat!!
He definitely should be on the NBA Mount Rushmore…
Larry’s Trash Talking compilation is also quite enjoyable. Great job, guys! I really enjoyed your commentary- subbed!
Larry Bird beat them
all … Jordan , Magic ,
Kareem , Hakeem ,
Isiah , Rodman , Dr J ,
Laimbeer , Worthy ,
Dominique , Moses ,
Miller , Drexler , Barkley ,
just to name a few , and
all in the playoffs !
Here y’all go acting like he didn’t have a monster built to suceed with him at the helm. None of those teams stood a chance against the celts besides the pistons, Philly, and lakers
@@TheIcemanthomas
What ? McHale was a
6th man off the bench
for his first 3 seasons .
Ainge was a baseball
player out of Bringham
young , Parrish was an
easy pick up in trade
season , nobody wanted
him , thought he was
slow and lazy . And DJ
is not even a top ten
guard by any means !
And , none of these
players would have a
ring without Bird ,
except DJ with one !
And , none of these
players are even top
25 ! Bird didn’t play
with hall of famers ,
Bird made hall of famers !
All facts....@@rgreen1107
Larry was an absolute basketball genius. If you go back and watch his games you'll notice he was always at the right place at the right time on that court. He always knew where every player was at all times. Notice how he passed the ball without looking. Yeah, he really was that good.....
Fractured right cheek, concussion and double vision, no pain killers ever, still dominated also played his career with a broken back
Larry Legend- he had the most solid fundamentals, god-like court vision and IQ, and deadly shooting and passing. How do you deal with that? You don't 🙂
That statement from Magic at the end wasn't just pandering. Watch the special "Courtship of Rivals" and you will understand a lot more about the relationship between these two.
My favorite player all time. Interesting fact about his retirement ceremony was there was no game that day. The garden was completely sold out and the whole thing was like 2 hrs. They showed it live on TV and everything.
Great reaction. Thanks for looking at the legend. He is and will always be my goat in basketball
❤😂🎉Larry Legend 🎉😂❤
7:46 - 7:52 The look of a champion!!!!
I was at Larry’s retirement ceremony. They retired his and Denis Johnson’s number. Still got the t-shirt.
Those cross court passes are on the money thrown ahead of the receiver with backspin on the ball right into the hands.
The number of larry bird vids I see where reactors say they massive nba fans but never once seen even a few of his highlights.... you boys straight up "yeah we know larry and we here for the memories" and then sat down and enjoyed it. To me that's a genuine reaction.
I been subbed since u on 20k so I can't sub again lol but good to see you keeping the content fresh guys 👏🏻
My nf friends!! Man I’ve watched your REN videos and NF videos so I’ve been here a minute guys, I’d love to see y’all do the documentary A COURTSHIP OF RIVALS on Magic and Larry gentlemen you could break it up into 4 parts and make a week out of it guys!
first my channel, im subscribe from brazil, larry is number one in here, tnks goahead
Good watch, fellas. Solid, like the Bird-Man.
The Fucking Legend
I've been watching basketball for 45 years and I love this sport with all my heart. I still will take Bird over LeBron!
You wished there was more, this was one song from a full brilliant concert!!! You will enjoy their massive catalog!!! Enjoy the ride 👌👍✌️😁
GOAT
#45 for the Pacers was Chuck “The Rifleman” Person. He and Larry had sort of a feud going on for a few years. At that time Chuck was the big star for Indiana, and he too was a great shooter and offensive player. Hence the nickname of “Rifleman”. Great video, thank you it brought back some nice memories.
These two dudes appreciate real ball. Great video!
I know no one really wants to pay for UA-cam premium, but you'd never have to worry about ads while you're doing a reaction video.
The videos about his trash talking ate great.
Bird would dominate in todays game. Bird played like he was on the playground
The opening scene, Larry’s retirement ceremony was on a night with no game. That crowd came to see Larry off. They said you couldn’t get a ticket.
Good reaction. Thanks.
Larry Legend
@7:33 number 45 is Chuck (the Rifleman) Person.
You guys weren’t paying attention you were talking he came back in the Indiana game with a fractured right cheek !! can you imagine a player today fracturing their face they would be out for a year
Good job, gentlemen. Bird was different.
Was perhaps the greatest era of basketball.
I can count 2 players that multiple times released the ball w/their body facing the other side of the court for a shot that went in. Bird and MJ, those 2 were just built different. I was never a Celts and man was it frustrating watching Bird find way to pull out a win, seemingly every night. Him, Magic and MJ, 3 different ways of doing it, but all did found a way to do your team in every night. Thank heavens I was a Bulls fan so I didn't have to deal w/1 of them.
BIRD and MAGIC a courtship of Rivals is a must watch.
Magic vs Bird courtship of rivals is by far the best sports documentary ever made!!!
So glad I grew up in this generation of B-Ball. Grew up in New England, many night's at the Garden watching Bird and the Celtics. And if you didn't know, his retirement was on a non-game night.. The garden was sold out for his retirement alone..
33 and green was the man!
You gotta respect the legend.😎
Go back and watch that three point contest. When he holds his finger up, you can see that it's bent sideways. He broke it once and it never straightened out.
Can you imagine what the *signed Jersey* from Magic is worth today?
8:00
When you finally beat the boss and a second healthbar shows up.
True GOAT
🙂👍🔥🏀🏀🏀
How classy.. I've dedicated my life to basketball and I've dedicated my life to the Boston Celtics...and I had a blast.. goodnight. What a wonderful way to say goodbye from Larry Legend.
They sold at the last second ??? Wtf is he trying to say ???
They stole it .?
They sold out ?
Watch more bird you won't be disappointed. Watch his greatest passer and when the game was ours. So many great videos to watch. I seen it while it was happening. Reggie miller was coached by bird after he retired. Watch more
The only player in NBA history to average at least 24 points 10 rebounds and 6 assists for his career. The only one.
Larry invented the Dagger, and the 40-50
Guys, who's the Goat 🐐 of Basketball 🏀??? Here are 8 great videos that make suggestions to who is the greatest. Of course everyone is going to have their opinion/favorite. So that you don't have to track them down.
All 8 of these videos are great and about 3 years old. Lebron has the most views and Larry Bird is 2nd out of the list👇.
I personally enjoyed Larry Birds the most. Not only is he in the conversation of who's the goat 🐐. He won Gold 🥇 *(with his NBA Rivals like Magic and MJ)* at the Olympics, became a Head Coach, then went upstairs to the Head Office.... running everything!! Larry's *GENUINE friendship* with Magic Johnson was awesome to see, on and off the court. Oh yeah, Larry also had *Rookie of the Year* as well 😎...btw, when Larry's face hit the floor in this video, he had a concussion and fractured his cheek bone!!!

Bird was more then just nice , he had "IT" ,he could and did it all ,but ,I think that court IQ,and hustle, made up for not jumping real high, watching him live was bball , entertainment at its best and depending on who they played you got a fight for free ,,cause they really went at it ,glad I grew up on 80' and 90's bball 🏀🐦💚 #LB33
Great reaction from you two. Can ya please react to Jordan historic bulls mixtape made by the NBA?
Liked and commented.
Then your opening...sub'd. 😂
💯
Can we get some love for my boy one of those greatest forwards to play the game? Dirk Nowitzki
Never gonna happen bud. Once the bird and jordan fans come, you’ll never see another bball vid that isn’t bulls or Celtics again. 😂😂
27 points left handed . . . in 3 quarters!
guys ever heard of adblock? great thing for not seeing stupid youtube ads... literary millions around the world use it
Larry bird in the soft NBA today would average a triple double in his sleep !! People just don’t know how good he was. He played most of his career hurt. ! Bird averaged 10 rebounds a game for his career ! Almost 7 assists game ! He doesn’t get enough credit
Larry maybe not top 5 but for sure top 10. Maybe if he didn’t get hurt he’d be top 5. Legend for sure.
Magic just called him the GREATEST EVER
If you choose to delve into Larry Bird and Magic Johnson. Please watch "The greatest Rivalry in sports History Magic vs Larry" . Once you see that uou will understand why us oldies say the 80"s was the greatest time in to watch the NBA.
Bird is my #3 on my all-time list behind #1 MJ (the greatest 'small player of all-time), #2 Wilt (the greatest 'big man' all-time). Wilt & Bird simply do not get the respect they deserve and most people's argument against Bird is that "he wasn't athletic" but isn't that actually a plus for him to do what he did and 'lack athleticism'? All NBA players are athletic, let's be honest but most of them can't fly like MJ, Vince Carter, Dominique, Spud Webb, etc. Yes, Spud Webb was one of the greats for dunking considering his height. Too, Bird got the nickname, "Legend" from his fellow players unlike some today who give themselves grand nicknames. Larry called himself "the Hick from Frenchlick (Indiana)". He is also the only player who would regularly tell the opposing team what the next play was and what he was going to do, where/how he was going to shoot (even would call 'bank') and then he would execute it just as he described. That's just not human!
Bird a bad man
You never saw Bird play but you recognized Parish?! hmm.
I would LOVE to know how much that Magic jersey gifted to Bird is worth now…
Hey guys! You gotta check out his best passing videos....
Won the game with a broken cheekbone
Clever soldier 51
If you haven't seen the college Goat look at Pete Maravich. 44.2 ppg no 3 point line and only played 3 years!!!
