You can do an arch-vile jump to the yellow key and bfg at the start, and clear up the early parts of the map much more easily. But you might find that too cheesy. Great run! Edit: I just noticed you mentioned it... oops
I was even wondering if Decino intentionally didn't do the skip for extra style points. I personally find the opening of the map to be too dickish to do the regular route, and the BFG path doesn't take away from the challenge of the map overall imo.
@@decino I'm doing that with my run, and I think is a little more difficult, because the Big Horde Imp #2 reveals when you do 1 shot, and all the hordes of the starting area at the same time, so I think that. But it do the kill count go up very fast.
I love the early comments that the map isn't that difficult and then the panic in your voice toward the end when your health drops really low. Haha. Great run! Really enjoying these videos.
Bro, 4 attempts? You are a doom god. It took me dozens of attempts. Dying in the final 2 arenas feels SOOOOO fucking bad dude. But honestly, this map didn't break my spirit like the next map did. Amazing job, you're definitely built diff. Also, playing with the cybers at the end does speed up cleanup, but also makes things scarier because you can get scammed by stray rockets, which Feelsbadman.
Hey, I found your channel based on the Analysis videos, which were recommended to me by a small casual Let's Player, really enjoying your (mostly) calm approach to these murderously difficult maps. Keep up the good work :) Also I chuckle every time you say something like "we're pretty much at the final stretch" and there's like 20 minutes and a couple thousand kills left in the video.
I used watch this by Zero Master just for the audio, 'Descent - Europa Mining Colony' is a great track so glad you have it now singled out from the livestream you did a yr ago.
Now that's the way to start the 5th year of the channel! :D 16:35 nice and safe! 21:35 beautiful imp marmalade 31:43 perfectly shot rocket by cyberdemon, nice one. I think nobody would have dodged that
yeah, I was especially shocked how little attention Overload got. The original games got delisted due to the Interplay mess a number of years ago, but I would've thought that the kids given an opportunity to get away from their fortnites and call of duties would've loved Overload, but we were like ten people playing it. :(
@@fisk0 Yep, Ive supported Overload on KS. The thing is, that they failed to capture people's attention. I dont see how you can succeed with a game like Overload with a wide support of streamers/youtubers. And that didnt happen. They could have just rolled the dice poorly, I dont know. A shame, considering they DID manage to capture the horror feeling of losing your way after blowing up the reactor, and the stress leading up to it.
i love your videos watching you since those old plutonia videos. i hope you keep doing more of them. they also help me a lot to find always out of my depression phases. you are one of my doom heroes.
Even if Insane_Gazebo's mapping style is not in your wheelhouse, y'all gotta admit the guy is a WIZARD at picking music tracks for his maps, or making maps around certain music tracks. Europa Mining Colony never felt so exciting! (Especially because the one other time it showed up in Doom was in a pretty dull map in CChest3...) Here's to hoping IG uses Dark Groove from Jazz Jackrabbit 2* in a map someday, whether Sunder or not. *: as heard in Epic 2 and Good Morning Phobos

44:13 In response to your question about how speedrunners speed up the cleanup: Zero Master did two strategies I noticed: * Don't shoot at all while you have invulnerability -- all that does is kill revenants, who would kill hell knights if you left them alive * Start the penultimate and final fights together -- I guess this makes for more infighting plus lets you go back for the cells in the other room
8:54 I like how you have usurped the role of the cyberdemon who was there. Now you are the one to fire rockets down from your lofty platform. Also, knocking the imps back into the pit is awesome. The fight might exist for that setup alone.
For some reason to me this one is the quintessential Sunder map. The metal and wood theme, Descent midi and 4K+ kill count is all peak Sunder imho. At least in the original 2009 release.
Holy mother of heck this map. This one took me several attempts just to be able to beat it mainly because I didn't have the correct strategy to do it and what I did was whenever I kill the monsters I save the game and every time I die I load the save files and try it again by doing the trial and error and eventually I'm able to beat it and for those who did it in one sitting Kudos to you legit including you Decino. This map requires a good strategy to beat it.
In the penultimate fight, you can rush in, hit all the switches, that opens the door to the final room. They can all infight and you've all the cells up there left over to help make the clean up even more green ball spamtastic. Pew pew pew

I've been outspoken about not really being that into Sunder (I respect the work that went behind it, I love its visuals, it's just not my thing gameplay-wise), but this map stands out to me, particularly that last big fight. While I would've substituted the soulspheres on the platforms for megaspheres so that the player could get some armor back, it feels a lot more engaging and satisfying than most "equip the BFG, hold Mouse1, and run" fights.

Zero Master has completed Sunder and you are definitely in the same tier as him. I would love to see you conquer the rest of Sunder.
Those hellknights seemed to be the most dangerous enemy in that final fight, especially early on. Their tankiness and low pain-chance makes them formidable walls, easily ripping you apart if you make the slightest pathing error (especially if you've run out BFG ammo)
GG ! Good luck for map13, to me it was the hardest. I swear if you say "Attempt number one" at the beginning of the next video, i stop my doom career x)
That final fight is absolutely mental! I can only dream of surviving an encounter with over 2500 demons in it at once lol. I was only ever able to beat the first 4 Sunder maps myself, the rest are just too far beyond my skill level. I could probably manage one or two more of them if really dug into the grind but I'd rather stay sane. Much better to just watch decino instead when it comes to this WAD 😊
I'd release the Cyberdemons in like 3-5mins in the last fight, rather than at first. Separated (teleported to where the enemies gets teleported, one in each) But amazing video as always decino 🍻
if I may, I actually have a suggestion for a stand alone map you could do for the month of December called Frozen Time. the map was created by Alexander S and has the song Junkie Time by Mark Klem playing in the background.
Continuing my thoughts on sunder maps Map 12: This map is just another amazing one, I remember doing the first fight completely pacifist until the cyber died, it was surprisingly fun! There is so much slaughter in this map and it’s amazing, you get to kill so many demons while looking in awe at this amazing level. The last 2 fights are nuts, the final one just feels like a war on it’s own with the high amount of demons, the HUGE imp wave after the BFG was a lovely surprise and was quite challenging!

There is nothing as satisfying as pumping rockets into big groups of imps. And taking face rockets. Definitely taking satisfying face rockets. That is decino being just decino. He "forgot" to dodge, just to show us all that he can take the damage.
