Why did they jump with Jordan, because players took pride in defense and wanted to stop him. Also there were great leapers and athletes in the 80s, 90s, and 00s. Jordan was a freak of an athlete. Thirdly, it's hard to seriously say players are more skilled now, when they are allowed to travel, carry the ball, and don't have to deal with handchecking, in a league that promotes offense.

My opinion - I grew up in the 70's-80's.
Jordan is the best player I ever saw, but its paper thin over Bird (and I hated the Celtics) Some dont realize how great Bird was.
Anyway.....Jordan, Bird, Magic Kobe, Kareem, Shaq, Wilt, etc.
Lebron is great but hard to put him in that group for me. An era where defense is not allowed makes it impossible to take him over anyone where hard physical hard defense was allowed. Lebron lacks the killer instinct and the heart that the above mentioned had. We have seen him quit on the court...........and oh the flopping.....please make it stop.
Put this way........an era that celebrates James Harden as a great player......that is enough said for me.

So, i get what you're saying, but James Harden at the end of the day is a great player like say Allen Iverson, Kevin Garnett were compared to Kobe. Not top tier with Jordan, Kobe, Bird, Magic etc... but i would put James Harden career alongside Steph Curry, Kevin Durrant, LeBron James, Giannis ack... For a guy that "is not a good passer" or "doesn't pass" depending on the talking head's bs narrative, to finish the game with 30+ points and 12 assists I think should tell you enough of what you've been fed by the msm! And to add a bit more context: throughout that series MJ ended up again with 30+ppg and 11.4 assists per game just an assist shy of Magic's 12.4 apg! Let that sink in for a while...

People always get the context of MJ shooting and making all those 3's in a row in the finals against Clyde Drexler snd the Trailblazers wrong. Even the announcer got it wrong. He wasn't surprised he was making them. There was an article that came out in Portland that said to beat the Bulls, the Trailblazers would need to keep Jordan out of the lane and force him to hit the three. Before that game, there was an interview with Jordan and the interviewer mentioned the article and asked why he didn't shoot more 3's. Jordan said that he just never wanted or needed to. That wasn't the game he wanted to play. (If you were around back then and playing basketball on neighborhood courts in NY, then you understand this completely. We use to call people that never took it inside but just shot from the outside playing p**sy ball*. Men took it inside and scored AGAINST the contact. They didn't run from it or try to shoot further and further away from it. Jordan was born in Brooklyn. He may have grown up mostly in NC but he always said his style of play was NY. ). So shooting and making all those 3's in a row (that broke the finals record at that time) was him just making a statement about it. The "shrug" was NOT surprise. It was more like, "Well I guess that strategy isn't going to work! Or...see I told ya!".
BTW - I would put that Drexler team that the Bulls beat in the finals up against any of these teams today and be confident they would dominate them. Teams today are guards and a cast of players all playing like small forwards........none of which play defense.

MJ was the Terminator and had the league, SHOOK! I'm 40 and the next best thing I saw close to MJ, was Kobe. Both were killers and fundamentally, skilled players. Their footwork was crazy and they were obsessed with winning. There are a lot of good and great players playing today but, none of them has that ruthless and relentless attituded both MJ and Kobe had. They were great on both sides of the ball. Guys like Giannis shows glimpses of that killer instinct and plays both sides of the ball which, is enjoyable and rare to see today.

Great comment. I grew up in what I would call mostly the MJ era -- caught a lil' Magic / Bird but I was young when they were at their greatest peaks. And I saw Kobe play -- but by the the time he was winning chips I was in grad school so I didn't have as much time to watch as I did for MJ (and also I am a EC gal, but can appreciate greatness wherever it may be). But yes to all of your comment -- Giannis is lacking a little in outside shooting efficiency which the analysts NEVER forget to mention LOL, but they change it into saying he doesn't have "a bag"? I feel like we aren't even talking the same language of basketball these days -- Giannis isn't a great outside shooter, but so are plenty of other dudes I could mention even HoF level past and present we won't mention, but they ignore the 10+ other really important contributions of team sport he has to helping his team win? Either way, I will take watching a hard-working and productive Giannis play today on both ends of the court with his hustle and heart and constant willingness to train and improve every year over the "only offense even if it takes flopping and manipuplating the refs" players and players who cherry pick or give up when it gets tough.
And to give a little nuance -- bad reffing and bad rules aren't entirely on the players. I get it. And I also get why owners and players alike would want to get rid of not just the bad boy era injurious play, as well as the insidious play of the Karl Malone elbows that could hospitalize players or the underhanded foot sweeps of many others that persisted for a long time. But holy crap, now it's gotten to the point where if you celebrate a dunk, breathe on a player from a foot away and he misses a shot/ and or a player does something clumsy or embarrasing in your proximity, or smile at a ref you're getting some kind of technical. It's sucking all the air out of the game. I'm getting to the point where I can hardly watch a game these days even with players I like.

@@Tcheera Yeah! The NBA has been watered down to the point that defense is a risky, relic of the past. Worst part about it is that this generation will crown players the goat, knowing they play only one side of the ball, play 2/3 or less of the season, and take shortcuts. Having a killer instinct isn't necessary and is ignored by fans because of how the game is pushed; marketing players who are lazy. It's sad that the players who actually, care don't get the recognition they deserve. The foreign players actually, play team ball and don't seem to care much about individual glory. That being said, my generation is somewhat spoiled. We watched Tyson in his prime, Tiger in his prime, serena, Nolan Ryan, and also Lebron in his prime. We devalue Wilt the way today’s youth devalues MJ. Not completely, but just enough to put their generation’s best at no. 1 . If you really look into Wilts game, it’s impossible to put anyone above him. Averaged 50 for a season, scored 100 in a gave, presumably blocked more shots than any other player ever, never fouled out of a game, ran a 4.3 - 40, was a collegiate high jump champion, and had 10,000 + women… GOAT. The thing no one ever mentions about this mixtape, is that these highlights are almost exclusively from his playoff runs with a few regular season games thrown in. There are highlights from maybe 50 or 60 games total, with multiple jaw dropping clips from each game. But MJ played over a thousand games in the league. He was just as spectacular on a random ass Tuesday as he was in a Game 6 elimination. A true mixtape would be hours long.

Great reaction youngster. I commend you for not being bias and saying ignorant $#!@ like "Bron can do that" after MJ does some nasty move like most Bron ignorant superman lovers. Nothing wrong with Bron being your GOAT. I'm in my mid-50s and fell in love with the sport in Magic's rookie season (1979). He's my favorite player all-time. But without hesitation I proclaim MJ to be the GOAT. I saw him ball in person a few times and what my 20/20 vision witnessed was like nothing it had seen before or after him. That bounce and hang-time aka aerial anarchy made Rodan extremely envious. He was also so creative. Just pure artistry.
Great point on him abusing and dunking on all in today's Monistat moist vaginal NBA. MJ was dippin' on the greatest defensive bigs all-time (Hakeem, David Robinson, Mourning, Mutumbo, Ewing, Eaton, Parish, Rollins). I strongly doubt that Wemby or Greek Freak would be able to deter him from putting them on posters. Those that never saw him in person just have no clue how quick he was able to get off the ground. Before you knew it he was already airborne. And that's the reason he was dubbed black cat.
Those that claim MJ would be just another DeRozan in today's soft as Vagisil yeast infection ointment league are infinitely ignorant. Kobe was much superior than DeMar and MJ was Kobe on PEDs. And I like DeRozan - he's a Southern Cali cat like myself. But compared to MJ he's a Dahmer after supper cadaver.

I’m 27, and MJ is the GOAT!
He would have a field day in this era. Like you said, he got off the ground so quickly off 1 leg or 2 leg jumps. No 7 footers today would have any better luck than the 7 footers that MJ faced (they were better).
I’ve always said - if Luka Doncic is averaging 33-8-9… and Russell Westbrook was averaging a triple double… wtf is Michael Jeffrey Jordan doing?
      Scary.

We know, trust us we know Lebron ain't no Michael Jordan, but he is good. If I am starting a team I am going MJ, Kobe, then Lebron.

This is the reason why MJ will always be the greatest. 1. I never saw Jordan ask for his f’’’’’’’’’’ing respect.2. I’ve never seen the audience Bullying MJ in their own home.3. I never saw MJ looking for a referee to ask to take out a fan who paid for her ticket. 4.I never saw MJ fight a woman for mocking his game. 5. I never saw MJ score 8 points in a finals. 6. I’ve never seen MJ get swept in the finals. 7. I never saw MJ Lose in a finals. 8. I never saw MJ lose to an inferior team in the playoffs. 9. I’ve never seen MJ lose in an olympics. 10. I never saw MJ play on super team and not make the playoffs. 11. I never saw MJ rest off season he always tried to play every game. 12. I never saw MJ proclaim himself the greatest of all time. So you tell me who is the greatest.

I'm Italian and even my dad and my mom, who didn't care about ANY sports, knew who MJ was. And I never talked about him with them.
    Everybody knew who he was.
    He didn't need social media.
I'm 52, I love basketball, but I'm still waiting for a player who can do things better than him...
No one has a better vertical, a better killer instinct, a better record in the playoffs and most of all in the finals. I'm even pissed off because there's no professional dude who can jump BEHIND the free throw line (NOT a finger, and please, with DRIBBLES), and this is a shame... more than 30 years. Come on.
A basketball fan like me wants to watch an improvement: "There won't ever be another Jordan" is a stupid statement: I immediately WANTED to see someone better than him, when he retired. And I was SURE about that...
    Phenomenal players, but not MJ.
    Still pissed off.

You nailed it when you said 'Jordan played in a tough era'.
Physically it was brutal. Until halfway through Jordan's career, it was OK to physically hammer guys every time they approached the paint. Just ask the Pistons.
The harder it got, the higher he went through the gears. The dude was ferocious.
I don't think LeBron has the stone cold killer instinct to WANT to dominate in every single aspect of the game like MJ did.
And nobody who ever grew up watching MJ ever says LeBron is the GOAT, yet they saw LeBron play too....

Lebron is able to go to the paint for a dunk or a lay-up, and can pass the ball, shoked a bunch of times, and build teams around superstars, which I didn't like Bron doing that, todays game is 0 defense, a week ago in 5 games, 8 teams dropped more than 130 points, 7 of them 140 points.
MJ was able to do whatever he wanted in a bigger size and more defensive era, where Centers camped under the rim, a flagrant foul, was a regular foul, and he was 50% shooter mid range and in clutch time, and you just watched shooting, dunking and lay-ups over 3-4 people defenders constantly. Also, he was more effective than any player in history. If you watch a whole MJ regular game, you gonna see he constantly scores on people with only 1 or 2 dribbles or even in less than 3 seconds, MJ was fast, consistent, efficient, and agile. I suggest you to watch a whole game, so you see the difference. Also, MJ accomplished more in less time. I'm a Bron fan, also MJ fan, I watched both playing, I'm 40, so I have watched more Bron games than MJ. MJ THE GOAT 🐐
But besides everything, it was great video. Good job.

I'm Lebron fan since he is 16yo, I'm 39 like Bron, I have watched MJ since 91 and up, and Lebron whole career. Lebron slack in a lot of stuff in comparison vs MJ. Lebron couldn't make a shot out of 3ft from the basket, averaged 35%, great longevity, but choked a lot of times, and joined teams with 2 superstars and a bunch of great role players, and has been dominated by a bunch of teams and players. Dallas the underdog beat the Heats, champs 4-10, and great total carreer stats. But not like MJ 3peat twice, for an 6-0. MJ was a killer, slasher, cold blood, competitive, offensively and defensively great, clutch, dominated the NBA, Accomplished more in less time, averaged stats are better than Bron in regular season, go see playoffs, MJ stats are insane. When you collected all the info, Lebron can be anyone favorite player. But MJ is the #1, Bron is #2.

The 80s and 90s was a time when they still played Basketball instead of just seeing who can shoot more 3 pointers. Defense meant JUST as much as Offense, don't confuse skill with having the freedom on offense to shoot without wondering if your gonna drive to the paint and get physically hurt. as well as the game has change to make the game into a 3 point contest for more fast paced excitement. I cant tell you how many people call me a jordan lover or fan boy when I HATED Jordan back in the day as a kid. But when it comes to pure dominance on the court, and the goat debate, Lebron doesn’t make my top 5. You say today’s NBA is more talented, I will agree. But it is also lazy and weak. These guys played hard and tough. Much more contact with blood and heart. Athleticism, today has it. But the heart and physical toughness just isn’t there.

Here are the facts and anyone who disagrees doesn't know basketball..
    1. MJ is the goat for many reasons, even 2 decades later his impact and legacy is still being felt on the game of basketball..
    2. First 3peat far better than the 2nd 3peat imo..
    3. 2nd 3peat as amazing as it was that bulls team 96-98 was unfair as the bulls should have lost alot more games than they did but the fact they had 4 ELITE defensive players on the 1 team was just purely and totally unfair to the rest of the league.. facts 💯 Rodman Pippin Harper MJ on the floor together you are completely screwed and good luck scoring
    4. Rules MJ had to play under in the 80s and 90s completely different from today's cupcake era. Buckets weren't given for free they were earned.. Had to be creative to get ya buckets..
    5. MJ version of 86 to 93 would average easily 45 PPG in today's era but MJ 96 to 98 35 to 40 PPG..
IF your gonna have a debate you have to clarify which version MJ you talking about..

The biggest issue for me are the rules. The rules won't allow them to play great defense. It's all about the offense and for me that takes away from the game. It's just a flash highlight but MJ dunks on Orlando Woolridge. Woolridge still holds the Bulls bench and deadlift records. The game MJ scored 63 against the Celtics he had a 24/11 game with 4 blocks. They also had a vert competition and at 6'10' he put a sticker on the backboard 4" below the top of the backboard. Dude was a beast that today's NBA wouldn't know what to do with. Ever hear of him? Due to flopping, foul calls, lack of defense, and less physical play, players score more. Making it seem ultra talented. But it isn't at all. Alot of these players would truly struggle back then.
And on the other side, the players then would excel today because of what more they could do. Young people fail to realize.

Only differents now to then is rules and the different horse for different courses..... Pace and space... Nobody got hit with Ninja turtle ozze and turned into better athlete... This league now is the smallest in height and weight going back 40 years.. That is why you have so many more 3 point shooters and less Bigs.. Then when you go overseas and play by their rules which is more like 2000 rules you see we can't compete on the block in the post, rebounding, or rim protection and if you don't hit your threes even with NBA players you will lose to teams less talented because they are not used to that kind of play..

The God in sneakers! Nobody's even near this man SPECIALLY when you consider his efficiency and playing both sides of the ball even up until his 40 😉Unlike someone else who's been resting on defense in past 5 yrs and his team has to pay for it sadly. There's Jordan.. then there are everyone else. Great reaction man👍 We need more Lefans like you

He was everywhere, all the time, long before social. Anyway it's kind of hard to imagine MJ thinking "Oh let me go do my Twitter now".

The thing is, his highlight video could be 8 hours long. He did this stuff every night. He didn’t take nights off. You could pick any random game to watch and there would be multiple times where he did things that nobody else in the world could do. Today, you can see one guy that could do one of the things MJ did and a different guy do another thing that MJ could do but nobody can do all of the things that Jordan did

The only thing that Lebron was better than MJ was longevity and that’s cause he plays in the pussy era of the NBA. When MJ played they would beat on that man like he stole something. Lebron can’t play no defense and MJ didn’t have to go to other teams with a stack team, MJ made the team he had better. If MJ was playing todays game he would average 50.

Pretty valid reaction. I can agree with most of what you said. Today the young people just love Lebron. What Lebron fans gotta realize when you're talking about players nowadays are more talented, you have to understand what that actually is. Nowadays players are more talented offensively is how I see it. When it comes to defense, everyone knows defense was way more tough back in the day due to hand check. Michael won defensive player of the year many times .The defense in today's game is very sensitive. Michael Jordan was getting ate up in the paint and he still executed. Can't ever be done again. He's the true Goat in my opinion. Btw you missed quite a few good plays I was wanting you to catch. Couple times you were looking at your phone I think and looking into the camera when you spoke without pausing. You pretty much gave MJ his flowers tho, although many don't.

Love your reaction, but i have to disagree about the more talent in today's NBA. I can list so many legends from that same time, all legends. It would take me too long to type. Plus it was a rougher era. The Jordan Rule alone, ppl beat uip on him to stop him. The Pistons to be exact. He was greatness, like Barry Sanders, Mike Tyson and Ali. GOAT

They only seem more talented nowadays because the officiating has loosened up so much. Back in those days, no traveling, carrying, etc. Much cleaner.

Everyone is trying to day, LeBron is the goat. I would love to go back in time and put LeBron playing then. He wouldn't be able to handle it. not just Jordan but all the players back then. the pistons were vicious. the used to beat Michael Jordan up. but they still couldn't stop him. LeBron would get a beat down period!!!! Michael stayed with one team. LeBron moves from team to team trying to play with better players. that's not a goat move.

I think it is fine to like someone in the era you grew up in, but as someone who lived through Jordan era and current era it is no comparison. Today's NBA is not nearly as physical, teams hardly play defensive, and most teams rely on 3 pointers. LeBron is really good but his stats in clutch situations are poor, he lost more championship games then he won, and he is an below average free throw shooter.

I've seen better athletes, playmakers, clutchers, shooters, dunkers, passers and defenders, but none with the full package at this level..he was the most complete player in history...and a gentleman while being so.

Jordan got fouled a lot. He could finish through contact. He never flopped. He was much better than the best of today. And I was never a bulls fan. I just see this as fact.

I am happy to say that I was lucky enough to have watched the greatest basketball player ever to play the game ...Back then the tough in your face no open game was more difficult to play in than today's open no touchy in your face at all game .Jordan was not to just play basketball he was out their to destroy you ...He was out to beat you down and expose every player in the league no wonder they called him...Black Jesus . No one in today's game is even close ..No one

Here's the thing even without the existence of social media & the internet back in his era Jordan was internationally famous even to non basketball fans. He was a global cultural phenom. Also if Jordan can dunk on 7"4" Mark Eaton who was build like the great Wall of China & 7"7" Manute Bol, I don't think he would have a problem posturizing any center today seeing as he posturized 7 of the top ten shot blockers in NBA history multiple times.

I stood next to Mark Eaton once, I'm 6'3 220 and I was staring into his chest and he was easily twice as wide as me. He was gigantic and mean. Going down the lane with him and Karl Malone waiting made some people nervous. Not Jordan but some.

MJ regularly dunk on/over 7ft bigs back when every team had a big and you were allowed to camp under the basket...MJ would do everything you saw in that video and MORE to today's no-touch, give-me-space, no hand-checking, lets-all-be-friends league...he would also have them out of their game and on the bench with their feelings hurt with trash talk...this was not a "player"...this was a killer who accepted nothing less than absolute dominance. Btw, when you talk and/or look away from the screen, you miss several highlights...if you are going to watch it, actually watch it :/ right after his eyes-shut free throw you paused it right when he jumped completely over someone...

I don't understand the he's my GOAT statement. His basketball skills are not top 5. He's just an offensive foul waiting to happen if they were to call the game as it was intended.
