If you see or read "Anukul" you will realize that.
Not only bankubabur bandhu, if you read his stories on Professor Shonku, you'll know that they have a larger potential than maximum sci fi movies of hollywood

The script of The Alien was really interesting..In a remote village of Bengal a spaceship landed in a pond full of lotuses..after the landing the lotuses bloomed..the spaceship was a bioship made of veins and arteries instead of metals. after landing into the pond, only the top of the spaceship was visible..a businessman took the opportunity and spread the rumor that this is a temple..villagers come in crowd and pray and the businessman made money with the business of superstition..but an American journalist came and understand there is something fishy. meanwhile the tiny alien helped a mentally challenged boy named habu..(from an Interview of Satyajit Ray)

Jagadish Chandra Bose and Radhanath Shikder two victims of same kinda event, Europeans stole their work. Jagdish Bose invented transistor, marconi took the credit for that. Similarly Radhanath Shikder was the first person to identify Mount Everest as the highest peak, but Professor Everest took the credits and named the mountain peak after his name. Now known as Mount Everest.

In the story, Golapi Babu & Tipu, an alien who was exiled from his planet came to Earth & helps a little boy for his atonement.
I read this story when I was in 5th standard and thought that "Koi mill gaya" stole this Idea from Ray..... but damn I was wrong.. It now seems like KMG was a 2nd copy "Bonku Babur Bondhu"
Some Indian Audience still believes E.T. is Original and then they say Koi Mil Gaya(Bollywood) Copied E.T. without understanding/knowing the fact that E.T itself is not original.

Steven Spielberg stole concept & probably basic plotline from Satyajit Ray's script and Rakesh Roshan almost copy pasted screenplay from ET for alien plot of Koi mil gaya. So they both can't be justified.

In short, Ray was a forgiving person in general. Even Nargis was very vocal against Ray for showing the real India of that time in his movies. She wanted him to make flashy bollywood stuff maybe. Idk. But that's not important, what's important here is when Ray was asked about Nargis's comments, he was pretty much chill about that, instead he praised Nargis for her acting prowess. That's Ray for us. Just bodied Nargis by being chill about her comments.
