- Coronavirus latest: BRITAIN will be plunged back into "another full lockdown" if a vaccine-busting variant arrives from abroad, a Cabinet minister warned today.
Environment secretary George Eustice said draconian restrictions will have to be reimposed to combat a dangerous new strain that gets around the jab.
He made the remarks with ministers today set to ease travel restrictions and ditch the need for gold-standard PCR tests when returning to the UK.
Vaccinated travellers will be able to take a much cheaper lateral flow swab, which picks up Covid but can't be used to detect variants.
They will also no longer have to show a negative result to enter the country.

The issue there @Joe H is that the underlying cause of most chronic ill-health comes from people eating too many carbohydrates. Most of the international, healthy eating guidance repeats the USDA recommendations, the USDA having a remit to promote and sell crops.
The norm for modern society is for the body to produce too much insulin, attempting to defend itself from this onslaught of resulting glucose, meal after meal, day after day, year after year.
If we halved the RDA for carbohydrate, getting most energy from natural fats (3:2 monounsaturated to saturated, similar to body-fat), what healthier nations they would be.
If enough fat people die before reaching state pension age, then perhaps there will be no need to increase National Insurance.

That’s literally what viruses do. They mutate, and the ones that mutate well, IE don’t get detected by antibodies, become prevalent because they spread. That’s the idea, they keep mutating in an effort to spread better. Basic science

All of these lockdowns have decreased so many peoples mental health’s including my own and if we do go into another lockdown I won’t be able to do it anymore, I can’t go through that pain again, no one wants to experience that type of pain.

I mean I've had regular flu, swine flu, bird flu, been hospitalised by all of them and was seriously seriously ill (continuous coughing fits to the point of vomiting all day and night for weeks) end of 2019/beginning of 2020. It was rough, nearly killed myself after being pt on 3 lots of steroids, but I'm asthmatic and if 99% of of people who get would be fine it makes more sense for people like me to stay inside and let everyone else get on with it. The rise is hygiene standards is nice because (as people forget germs existed before COVID) but the level of insanity right now is just not necessary or fair.

The village Parson closed the church and everyone went into lock down to try to stop the spread of the horrific disease.
Many died and they even buried their own dead family members.
Obviously in those days there were no vaccines so they did the only thing they could to try to stop it from spreading.

Where are you getting that from? 60% of those hospitalised with covid have NOT received a jab of any kind. Plus over 90% have received a jab, more than that for vulnerable age group. So 60% is quite an over representation by 6x and 40 of the vaccinated is 1/2x then its a factor of 12x more likelihood to be hospitalised if unvaccinated at a conservative estimate.

In August 2020 before vaccines there were just over 200 deaths from covid, in August 2021 after vaccines there are just over 3,000 deaths from covid, could Mr Eustice please explain why this is.

In August 2020 most of the people were in hiding, in their own homes, because of a somewhat extreme case of the flu. Now there are more people out and about, and the vaccine only reduces the symptoms and viral load, but doesn't protect you from death, nothing is able to do that. Check the causes, and you will find the MAJORITY had pre existing conditions that also contributed to their deaths.

What if you already have a compromised immune system because of a chronic illness prior to Covid. Not all people have been healthy all their lives and to survive they’ve been isolating for many years. Any virus will mutate to survive even the winter flu virus. That is why last year’s vaccine needs to be changed each year and it’s actually a guessing game which virus will have mutated from the year before.
