Kate i want to thank you for being such a kind person. My son killed himself 2 years ago. I have been with you for years. And when my heart is breaking i sit down and watch you. With tears rolling down my face your wonderful personality always helps me get out of my heartbreak and into my hands. I have made more quilts with you in the last 2 years than ever. I give them all away. Thank you again for giving me a place on your lime green sofa.
❤ hello Ms Kate ! My mother who’s turning 88 tomorrow, came across your channel about a month ago and she’s been watching you daily for hours. You have encouraged her to want to make another quilt, she hasn’t made one in years. She calls me to her room all through the day to show me what you’re doing and what supplies and fabrics you’re using ❤. Thanks for sharing your life! You’ve uplifted my mom; she’s been a little sad because she can’t move around like she’d like but she’s inspired now and I’m looking for supplies, tables, and fabrics for her. Lol 😊 please continue your work. My moms name is Lula. She’s still understanding how to like your videos; I try to catch her on some of them. We thank you again for sharing your expertise and beautiful work. ❤ Have a wonderful day 🎉
This is lovely. My grandmother was a quilter, as am I. She did it to supplement their income after the depression. Her name was Lula. Short for Lougenia. I enjoy Kate as well. I am almost 87 and am thankful to be able to get around on my own.
My husband was my maths genius, I’d go running to him, show him what I had and what I wanted to end up with, and he would figure it out. He was also good at drawing my project out for me. I lost my dear husband 3 years ago after 48 years together. I still ask him for help, and eventually we figure it out . Your quilt is amazing, thank you.
So sorry for your loss. My husband too is the maths whizz in our house. He's great at anything to do with numbers but cannot visualise, whereas I can. We make a good team lol.
❤😊 Awesome, I'm 65 learning also, Thank's Kate and Anna, Enjoying Ur Beautiful Creating!! Kate U teach Us Awesome, make easily to follow, I'm going too try Too!! ❤😊
Wow go you I have 13 grandchildren I have made all but 2 of them there quilts but it’s taken about 5 years in total so far I’m nearly finished one so then it’s one left although 5 were given baby quilts and they are all getting bigger so I may have to make them all big bed quilts. Haha I love it quilting is just like journeying down the rabbit hole in Alice and Wonderland, there always a new shiny idea 🌟or squirrel 🐿️to follow
I dont make quilts, my mother does. She is mathematically challenged as well. So i do all her calculations and drawings for her. I even make her templates. Kate, you are doing amazing!! It must be this left and right brain thing because you are so creative! A true artisit! Thank you for channel!
Kate, I loved this illusion quilt. I showed it to my four daughters and some of my grandchildren. I am now working on the sixth illusion quilt with the seventh waiting in the wings. Thank you so much for your inspiration.
My son always laughs at us quilters who say we are maths challenged because we use math and geometry all th time. Love your Homely House nd Garden videos.
I'm thinking that you have somehow manifested 48 hour days with the amount of projects you do. You are simply amazing! I hope I live to 160 as I'll need that time to complete all the projects I have in a queue, on top of what you inspire me with.
I personally have never seen anyone use this method Kate. I think all your quilts are darling just the same as you! Your DIL is very fortunate to have you. My MIL and I get along fabulously so I love when other people do as well.
That is a pattern that every time I see it done, I think, "I want to do that one too!". Yours came out lovely with those fabrics Kate. I was thinking that maybe I could do one with a square from each of the fabrics in my stash. Well, maybe not from ALL the fabrics - that might well cover my whole town! LOL Thanks for sharing with us Kate.
Love your videos! Love this quilt! Love you! I do have a suggestion for you that has helped me immensely. I had terrible shoulder fatigue from sewing long periods of time. My daughter noticed I was raising my shoulders to sew because my chair was too low. I raised my chair so my elbows were at a right angle to my sewing table , and now I can sew for hours without pain. I noticed your elbows are low when you sew.
I found you about 1 week ago and I feel very blessed. You have helped me get my quilting mojo back. I love your down to earth attitude and the way you explain things. I too am mathematically challenged. Your quilt looks amazing!
I dearly love watching your videos. I also appreciate that you admit troubles as it makes me feel better knowing its not just me. Please keep the videos coming.
I ordered some gifts for myself from Kates shop about 3 months ago, and due to life circumstances I did not get to send this Thank you. It was a small bundle of precious treasures. I live in Australia so was hoping i would receive them in 3months or more. I don’t normally get parcels from the U.K. so my expectations were vague, low and behold i received my parcel safely and beautifully wrapped within 3 weeks. So excited to have items from Kates Shop. Thank you to Kate and her helpers. Trish T.
Your the only person I know who understands the challenge I simply cannot see in my minds eye how things are going to look , I have to make a few wrong ones until it clicks, thanks for understanding x
Kate, it's a wonderful quilt. Sitting on the lime green sofa with all your UA-cam friends, having a chat and a biscuit. I love watching your videos, always look forward to Sundays to share some time with you. ❤
Kate what a beautiful quilt! You certainly did justice to that gifted fabric. Your Pinterest quilt board looks very similar to mine. Thank you for the reminder and the inspiration to get back to the illusion quilt I started years ago. Thanks again for all that you do. I just love all of your videos quilting or otherwise.
I love watching you show different quilts and how you do them. I find myself very much more open to quilt designs that I wouldn't dream of doing.. Thank you ❣️ for sharing.
Kate this is a thank you for showing us the quilt you made while watching Mark Knopfler concerts...and the wonderful way it all worked out...going to see him in Newcastle and the fact that he BOUGHT your quilt when he found out the story behind it.. You have reminded me how much I love his lyrics and guitar and all the wonder of his concerts..I am now enjoying them again after many years....OOXX
❤❤❤ Katie, I'm a member of the angely challenged club. And math is out the window. I love your house. And your kitty. Fur babies makes life so much better. Just like grandkids.
I couldn’t see exactly how the quilt would look until you pinned it onto your board….then all of a sudden the squares just popped out of the fabric and looked 3D…amazing work Kate ❤
I am loving the way your quilt has turned out so far. The fabrics just pop right off of the material. I am going to give this pattern a try right after the first of the year. I am busy now making three quilts that need to be done for Christmas presents this year. You have done a wonderful job on your beautiful quilt. I am so glad I found your channel earlier today! Thanks so much for sharing.
My dear Kate thank you for instruction in humility and good fun. You are my favorite UA-camr at the moment. Joy to you. Glad you are feeling a bit better
It's not a quilt I would have ever consideted making, in a million years but I really do like it! It might be just the ticket for my adult grandson. I also really like Mr Wilde's fabrics though I might swap out the flowery prints for something more masculine. Thank you, Kate you've popoed the stopper in my brain!
I'm so very Happy you chose Sam Wild's Fabrics for this Quilt, it is stunning. The first time I saw that quilt pattern, it was On Donna Jordon's Tutorials, I thought it was magic. Donna used larger blocks but I like it made made with smaller blocks better. I can imagine it with left-over fabrics from some quilts I've made for my family. I imagine it as a peek-a-boo Family quilt for someone. Thanks for the quilting journey, Kate.
What beautiful fabric, the designs and colors. Oh yes, first time I found Pinterest I thought only to spend 15-20 minutes on there and 4 hours later…….I’m sure plenty of us have done that. What a great place to get lost in and see so many fun ideas. I’m so glad many of us share a passion for fabric. Am I the only one who gets excited when I see other people’s stash, scraps of fabric? I just love, love, love it. ♥️
Wow this quilt is awesome I too have an optical illusion quilt on my Pinterest boards but like most squirrels it gets lost in the moment but I think it’s time to seriously look into it, yours is so engaging. I love and laugh at yourself conversations I’m the same I was in my sewing room and I said loud “ on you silly thing hit me with a brick” Miss 4 who had been watching Bluey in the lounge came running “ don’t you hit my Nana” 🥰was very confused there was no one standing next to me. I explained Nana had made a mistake she shook her head and said “ it’s not nice to hit anyone Nana even yourself she is correct, note to self, talk to self quietly🤔😂
I can so relate to your challenge to math and angles. I don’t particularly care for math and it is also quite a challenge for me. However, like you, I so enjoy the sewing, creating and ironing that comes with the joy of quilting! I do enjoy your videos and you!
I'm definitely on team "strip piece and cross cut" for the black & gray pieces. For one reason, when you cut skinny pieces WOF, the WOF direction is more stretchy than the other (warp? weft?) along the selvage direction. Cutting wide and then cross cutting as you do, means less stretching & distorting when you're chain piecing. But, I'm sure you know all that! Stunning quilt, really good use of your fabrics.
I recently ordered Sam Wilde fabric from Fenwick Fabrics without ever seeing his fabric before. The colors and patterns actually do seem to be three dimensional and jump off the fabric. Now I know what to do with it. Thanks for another magical quilt.
My husband bought extra long lint rollers that attach to an extendable 5 ft pole to use on our couch & area rugs....We have cats. I also use them whenever there's a lot of thread bits or string to be picked up. Very useful with or without the pole attachment.
This is a great quilt design for this fabric. I can not see how it can be used without significant other fabrics. It just doesn't coordinate for me otherwise. Cutting is an agony. I have to do way more than measure twice before cutting, and I'm not mathematically challenged. I used to teach mathematics and geometry was my favourite area of the curriculum. Statistics was my worst as it is used to lie but it does make it very creative. My eldest son is very good at doing data visuals. Whole truth and nothing but the truth. Quilts are ideal for teaching and you are a great teacher. Thank you.😀😀
I immediately thought the same thing. Thinking you can’t be expected to see tiny pieces together. Which is when I thought I’d take a wide length of black 3 to 4 inches depending on size of block and add a one inch length to the dark fabric then cut into strips. I must say. You are brilliant. Love watching you so much. Plus I love your soft voice and lovely accent. I could listen to you all day. Some days you are My rabbit hole. Watching video after video. Your daughter in law son and ping and cabin with your grand little visiting neighbours ducks geese and birds. I’m sure a few bunnies too. Do you ever see Hedgehogs in your yard? Hugs Louise Canada 🇨🇦
What stunning fabrics!!! I just realized that a quilt I designed but haven't finished yet will end up with that illusion type of look to it. I call it Grandma's Lemon Bush. I started it in 2011...no rush😉 as a remembrance of my Grandma and her magical lemon bush that made the BEST lemonade 🍋❤🍋 The dark will represent the ground beneath the bush. With your inspiration it may have just moved up in the queue to get finished. Thank you!❤
Absolutely stunning quilt Kate. My grandson has been asking for a quilt using shades of purple and this will be perfect for that. I love your idea of sewing the black and grey in strips first to stop distortion. I look forward to seeing a new video from you and can’t wait to see what quilting design you decide to use. Thank you for all your inspiration and the tea and biscuits on the lime green sofa.
This is a great quilt design for this fabric! It allows each fabric to stand alone, yet works together. Now I’m adding an optical illusion quilt to my to-do list!
Love the illusion quilt. I made one a few years ago as a memory quilt for my neighbor using her husband's shirts. It turned out great!! She loves the quilt. I made the squares 10X5 in order to not cut the shirts into unrecognizable pieces. It is a beautiful quilt pattern.
Shadow quilt - perfect name - how beautiful!! The shadow really shows perfectly in this „Neon Fabric“. Math - I‘m not a quilter as such, but a weaver. The math is the one thing witch attracts me the most about weaving. The act of weaving it self is quite boring. Kate, your such an impressive person, quilter, creator and artist. Love you! Today was my 70 Birthday and I watched your video as a treat. Thank you for your sharing!!
dear Kate............your Quilt will looks amazing when it goes finnished(hope you can understand what I am mean,my english is not very well)..............and when you think that algebra never comes back in life.............HAHA..........................Blessings and Greetings from Daggy,Kiel,Germany☘☘☘
I made this quilt. It's called Shadow Play. Donna Jordan of Jordan Fabrics has a free pattern on their website. I used 10" squares. It turned out beautifully. Thank you Kate for inspiration. ❤
Oh Kate, 😂I suffer from the same affliction I can totally relate. There are a few other quilters I watch that suffer the same thing. Amazing! The quilt is beautiful I love it! You’ve inspired me to tackle this project. I also think I’m going to look something up on Pinterest and an hour or two later I’ve totally forgotten what I wanted to find and am down a completely different rabbit hole 🤦🏻♀️ thank you for the visit Kate ❤
So sorry for your loss:( she is quite calming in her way isn’t she…
@patriciasmith6992 My deepest sympathy for your loss.
My condolences for your loss.❤
Oh, I'm so sorry! Be kind to yourself and be glad for having found a pleasant and useful distraction. I'm sure the pain is overwhelming at times.
Condolences. Rest in Peace 🌹

What a treasured memory to have. Sorry for your loss. Take care.
So sorry for your loss. My husband too is the maths whizz in our house. He's great at anything to do with numbers but cannot visualise, whereas I can. We make a good team lol.
I can empathize. I lost my husband almost 3yrs ago after 33 yrs together. I still ask him questions 😊.
Love your work. At 73 I decided to make my 9 grandchildren a quilt in 9 months just by watching you. Thank you
Wow - just love the effect.
❤😊 Awesome, I'm 65 learning also, Thank's Kate and Anna, Enjoying Ur Beautiful Creating!! Kate U teach Us Awesome, make easily to follow, I'm going too try Too!! ❤😊

Thumbs up if your watching it helps Kate out
I don’t even watch them first before I hit thumbs up 😂. She deserves every bit of success
The best love it I would like to buy it but I live in P E I. CANADA YOU THE BEST👍🏻
When you become a quilter, all those times we said ‘we will never use algebra in our real lives’, it comes back to haunt us.
Same with geometry😊
😂😂😂 if they told you this in school, and gave you examples in real life, I think the lessons would have been way more interesting
As a former algebra teacher, I can sympathize! If only we were allowed to teach math in this useful way!
🤣

I think the designer of the fabric will appreciate how you have used this material. It’s going to be an awesome quilt.
As was mentioned in another comment, 17,000 views and 4,800 likes. Leave a thumbs up for all the work it takes to produce a video. It helps the maker.
Really a perfect choice for the fabrics!!! You are a joy to watch in your creative process… thanks for being here ❤
I love that Kate makes mistakes and modifies as she goes on.
You truly touch so many lives, your lime green sofa reaches far wider than you can imagine I am sure, what a blessing you are Kate and thank you
I dont make quilts, my mother does. She is mathematically challenged as well. So i do all her calculations and drawings for her. I even make her templates.
Kate, you are doing amazing!! It must be this left and right brain thing because you are so creative! A true artisit!
Thank you for channel!
You won't fall asleep while you are making that quilt. The colours seem to pop right off the fabric. Such a happy quilt that will make.
The optical illusion quilt is the perfect choice for the lovely bold fabric. The black shadows make the colours and patterns sing!

It is a great pattern. The apparent random placement of the patterned fabrics adds to the charm of the quilt. Thank you Kate. 🇬🇧
Kate, how did you randomize placement of the blocks?
I am the queen of not having quite enough fabric to finish a project! I feel for you!! ☺️
Love your videos! Love this quilt! Love you! I do have a suggestion for you that has helped me immensely. I had terrible shoulder fatigue from sewing long periods of time. So much pleasure watching you work on your beautiful quilt and "visiting" you and your lovely home! Thank you, Kate, for the wonderful visit!
I think my head would explode trying to work that out!
That optical illusion is so effective as a quilt pattern.
I think the illusion quilt is the best use of those fabrics! They r all beautiful but they don't relate to each other!❤
I dearly love watching your videos. I also appreciate that you admit troubles as it makes me feel better knowing its not just me. Please keep the videos coming.

Me too! I was always told that no one can choose the worst patterns better than me!
Pure genius, Kate! Thanks for processing in real time. So many of us struggle in the same areas.... and turn out beautiful results.
Kate, it's a wonderful quilt. Sitting on the lime green sofa with all your UA-cam friends, having a chat and a biscuit. I love watching your videos, always look forward to Sundays to share some time with you. ❤
I love the "3D" or shadow look! You figured it out right in front of us, which was so special and informative! Well done, so unusual and eye-catching!
It's a great way to showcase such a vibrant but varied fabric line. The attention is drawn to it with this design.
Good choice Kate.
Kate, i enjoy all of your videos. Im so glad i found them. I watch these instead of TV. ❤
What a challenge they sent you! That is quite an assortment of vague fabric. I am not a scrappy fabric quilter but you always seem to make it work.
Amazing how the fluorescent blocks seem to be floating! Beautiful work Kate👏
How lovely to have a Kate video today. It is a treat to get a glimpse of your life. You are an inspiration. Great to be on the green couch!

Beautiful!!
Beautiful quilt!!! The fabric designer, I’m sure, is very glad he sent the fabric to you to use in this quilt! Love watching your channels!!
❤❤❤ Katie, I'm a member of the angely challenged club. And math is out the window. I love your house. And your kitty. Fur babies makes life so much better. Just like grandkids.
That quilt was the perfect way to show off that fabric , wonderful.
I'm crazy about the plus sign blocks in progress, just so gorgeous!
Absolutely stunning! I have an abundance of Japanese fabrics collected over time. Now I know what design I will use! Thankyou 😊
I couldn’t see exactly how the quilt would look until you pinned it onto your board….then all of a sudden the squares just popped out of the fabric and looked 3D…amazing work Kate ❤

I'm in awe of your iron! Love the quilt too.
My dear Kate thank you for instruction in humility and good fun. You are my favorite UA-camr at the moment. Joy to you. Glad you are feeling a bit better
I recently made a shadow quilt. I believe I ripped every seam. Your way of doing it makes so much sense.
You got the floating effect figured out beautifully.
I just love the way your quilt turned out. You never disappoint us with all your beautiful quilts. Thank you for sharing them with us.
It's not a quilt I would have ever consideted making, in a million years but I really do like it! It might be just the ticket for my adult grandson. It isn't your usual style but it is beautiful! That fabric is delicious ❤
This pattern is perfect to showcase these brilliant fabrics! Beautiful job, Kate.
Sometimes we need to stretch our comfort zones. Your quilt is really lovely!
In different fabrics, this could be a cool Minecraft quilt for kids.
PS: Your quilt turned out gorgeous! Great job! 🌷
Kate, this is absolutely beautiful. Sam and Free Spirit Fabrics will be pleased with the design and construction. I love the light gray.
Greetings from Ukraine! I've been watching your videos for a long time - it's an incredible treasure! Thanks for the inspiration!
Wow!! That's is spellbinding ❤ 22:30
I am in love with this design. It really floats. Well done.
Oooooh!!😀
Ahhhhh!!😀
WoweeZowee!!😀
This is a great way to showcase the new designer's fabric!👍👍👍👍
What beautiful fabric, the designs and colors.
Oh yes, first time I found Pinterest I thought only to spend 15-20 minutes on there and 4 hours later…….I’m sure plenty of us have done that. What a great place to get lost in and see so many fun ideas.

Thanks for introducing me to Sam Wilde's fabrics! A lovely learning by doing process too.
YOU made such a fabulous quilt out of it. 💝🟦🔲🟩🔳💚
Wow this quilt is awesome I too have an optical illusion quilt on my Pinterest boards but like most squirrels it gets lost in the moment but I think it’s time to seriously look into it, yours is so engaging. Oh, my! It is Lovely To Behold!
I can so relate to your challenge to math and angles. I don’t particularly care for math and it is also quite a challenge for me. However, like you, I so enjoy the sewing, creating and ironing that comes with the joy of quilting! I do enjoy your videos and you!
Go Kare! Don't put yourself down. You are a fantastic problem solver and always very practical!. I admire the way you tackle challenges. Great job!
That is one on my list. The optical ellusion quilt. I think this is what I needed to get it started. Thanks Kate❤❤
I have to say I’m watching again. Haven’t started mine but really enjoy watching you and listening to you about your sewing ❤❤
I'm definitely on team "strip piece and cross cut" for the black & gray pieces. I think I’d be tempted to just quilt around the patterned squares which may make them look even more dimensional.
Either that or quilting in the diagonal straight through the edges...
What stunning fabrics!!! I just realized that a quilt I designed but haven't finished yet will end up with that illusion type of look to it. I call it Grandma's Lemon Bush. What an awesome way to use beautiful fabrics that don’t quite go together
Oh Kate, that’s brilliant ❤
This is a great quilt design for this fabric! It allows each fabric to stand alone, yet works together. Now I’m adding an optical illusion quilt to my to-do list!
Bravo Kate that quilt is stunning!
you are a wonderful kind person you inspire me to make quilts again you are an excellent teacher tyfs
Brilliant quilt and such wonderful new fabric. Thanks to Kate for making and Sam for the designs.
Absolutely loved this quilt Kate. Lovely colour combination, nice with the grey & black. I usually bumble along and run out of material, every time!
WOW! ❤ Fabulous!! Looks like a big wind might blow them away like leaves in the fall. So cool! Love it! 💞🌻💐🌹🌞
Beautiful!!! I love it! You took out the fear of making one! Thank you Kate🤩
I think a black binding would frame everything nicely 😍

Wow. That gray is the absolute perfect shade to achieve your objective!
I made this quilt. It's called Shadow Play. Donna Jordan of Jordan Fabrics has a free pattern on their website.
I used 10" squares. It turned out beautifully.
Thank you Kate for inspiration. ❤
Wow! Very beautiful, Kate. You did the fabric justice . I love the way you try to figure out how to make it easier for us to understand. Thank you.
The optical illusion block is now on my list for future projects because you showed how simple the construction is. Thank you, Kate!
