Hilarious parody! We haven't had toilet paper shortages in Russia, but have heard how it was in USA and it was quite funny to observe.
Not only in USA but in other countries as well. And there was no real shortage, just that some people panicked and hoarded so much TP in such a short time that it put a massive strain on logistics trying to deliver enough from factories and warehouses to replace the bought-out stuff. I witnessed a lady trotting home with a shopping cart three times overloaded with TP, I witnessed a young couple hoard three carts full of baby diapers and I was thinking like, guys, by the time you're halfway through all of that, your baby will not fit into these diapers! And I was waiting in line just to get a bottle of wine... I don't know if people are selfish or stupid or both, but even in a crisis, if you take only what you need, there will be enough for everyone. But if shit really hit the fan, like global collapse of production, toilet paper would be the least of my worries, I can't feed my family with it but I could still use old rags or newspapers to wipe my butt if it comes to that. But people make stupid decisions. Like when there was a major storm on the East Coast of USA, people had plenty of warnings beforehand and they hoarded frozen chicken, among other perishable foodstuff. But where do you keep frozen chicken when the power goes out and where do you prepare it? It's relaxing to have a few weeks supply of ready-to-eat food and supplies and some matches to fire up the (gas) stove, and just smirk at other people panicking and hoarding everything they can. And I actually used it when I tested positive for Covid, I packed up my shit within minutes and spent a week in a cottage recovering, thus sparing my family from catching it and spreading it even further.
Well, that was a long rant, sorry.
