These were around everywhere in the 80's when I started growing plants. :). I honestly couldn't tell you if I still have an original one from then but I have some, probably from it. Always grow them in terracotta on a bright windowsill. Let them trail till they get caught in the hoover lol. Then I might stick the ends into a pot alongside and let it root up. Love them.
I have such a love hate relationship with the string of turtles lol. Such a great plant but can be picky at times. Thanks for sharing your knowledge with us.
I got one a year or so ago, and I love it! However, the color on the older leaves have faded a bit. Too much sun? Not enough? Needs nutrients? I haven't been able to find an answer. I'm still getting tons of new growth, so I don't want to do anything different unless I know it will help.
Really Enjoyed your video I have a String of Turtles & can’t decide weather to cut it back its looking kind of gangly long & stringy. Wish I could send you a Picture & get your thoughts. So Hello from Canada & Hope your having an amazing week 🐢
I don't know what I'm doing wrong with my SoT. The turtle coloration came in red which I assumed was sun stress, but even in lower light conditions the new growth continued red. Also the leafs never plump up for me. I want to love this plant but I guess I don't understand it. :(
I think it might be the variety. Mine is like that too. The new growth is small.. waiting for the little turtles to plump up. It has grown very long.. doubled in length in 1 year. 🤷♀️

Why do nurseries use crap mixes?
A lot of my SoT leaves are sunken and they don’t have the coloring anymore and not sure why??

@@sheilabroad8192 so high humidity ended up being key for me. The new growth on turtles were nearly bursting
@@SeungCanFade thanks. I’ll try that. 🐢
Great to connect with a fellow garden content creator from UK. Hi from India 👋 I faced the same issues with mine here.. 🥴
How long did it take to get that long.
I was told to cut off the rat tails to encourage turtle growth, is this true?
Wondering the same
I do as well and mine are doing greatly i have many one of my favorites
I think it helps encourage growth to the leaves when you cut the rat tails off. I’ve done the same with my watermelon peperomia and had no issues.
@@ariannashuler1330 so wouldn’t they be called turtle tails not rats? 😂
This is the first time I noticed you only have the right ear stretched.
I watch ninjas Turtles too
