I'm gonna defend Nintendo on the online exclusion. Having worked with online play in Unreal Engine 4, replicating 100+ actors including pikmin, captains, treasure and enemies on Wii U would be an insane challenge if not outright unfeasible. For one, One of the Wii U's would have to be an authorative server considering the automation heavy nature of the game. That would tax the CPU and probably cause framerate drops by itself. But even then, the main problem is a 100 pikmin, plus captains plus enemies is gonna require a crapton of reliable remote procedure calls. in simpler terms, it needs to transfer a lot of data quickly and with low margin for error. Games that do push up to 100 players exist, but they usually have the advantage of dedicated servers and use tricks like only replicating player movement to other nearby players, you rarely if ever have 100 players at the same spot in fortnite for example, and if you do, it usually causes severe lag. even in optimal scenarios people still tend to find lag in fortnite. not to forget the Wii U only supports 2.4GHz wifi and the ethernet adapter appears to be relatively slow itself in my experience plus even slower typical internet speeds back in 2013. Pikmin 3 online play was never going to feasible
@@Krimzon06 The more moving objeccts you have in a game, the more processing power it takes to run the game in multiplayer and the bigger the likelihood of network lag rekated glitches. Network multiplayer in Pikmin 3 would be nearly impossible with 100+ Characters to synchronize across consoles at once, where most games rarely exceed 10 unless they have powerful dedicated servers, which Nintendo rarely uses
The biggest disappointment was the change in the Classic Pikmin Formula, now instead of finding your ship's parts or exploring caves you just follow the "plot" (aka the signal)
@Quentin BRETAUDEAU yes but that's mainly the last third of the game seeing how late you get the Blues, in Pikmin 1 and 2 you had access to your full arsenal pretty quickly (a bit before the halfway point) but here searching for fruits before killing the Scornet Maestro is a waste of both time and potential resources to collect for when Louie drinks all of your juice and calls you a bitch
I agree with you on disliking how everything is paths. Pikmin 1 had huge open areas for exploring that felt natural, while Pikmin 3 is mostly narrow paths that feel like they were made for you to explore, not a natural landscape on a planet you crashed on.
At first I was confused by the fruit thing as well. From a game design standpoint it feels lazy, especially since they're just laying around in plain sight, perfectly in-tact flawless real world fruits... but its actually pretty interesting how they tied it into the story. They mention that its weird how Hocotations eat vegetables, implying they don't eat vegetables on Koppai. They also don't eat meat. We know that the Koppaites knew about Hocotate beforehand, but they didn't go to them for help they searched for a random uninhabited planet to ransack instead, and found PNF-404. It also heavily implies that Koppaites eat A LOT of food, since Brittany is hungry all the time, and even Alph mentions something about controlling your appetite in his Ode to Charlie note. It seems odd how those massive fruits give only a fraction of a days meal per thing, and they only turn it into juice as well. I theorize that Koppaites actually have very very specific dietary needs, and they can only eat the juice of the fruits and nothing else because their bodies can't digest anything else (either that or they're just very snobbishly picky eaters... or both I guess). Anyways just food for thought (see what I did there?)
My only complaint is that its too short :c I got the game in Christmas 2020 and im already at Formidable Oak with all the fruits collected, 3 days later. •~•
Your 4th part about them doing too many nature locations. YES. The other games found a lot of strength in having small post-apocalyptic overworld and cave locations (bathrooms, basements, garages, pools, etc). Cutsie-only games don’t stick in your mind as much as games with a BIT of grit!
I'm still waiting for an actual desert location. Other than some cactuses in the formidable oak and some side missions that semi-resemble deserts, we haven't had one of those yet.
Hey! Pikmin actually adressed some of these issues such as expanding the area variety and going back to the treasures, it makes me feel hopeful for Pikmin 4
@@SoggySlopster The sense of urgency adds a challenge and actual incentive to the real time strategy based gameplay where as Pikmin 2 is a bunch of bland repetitive easy long backtracking boring caves. Pikmin 2 is kind of like Mario Bros Lost Levels where it's more of the same, but handheld in a much worse way, while also being way too strict to the player for no good reason like requiring too much yucky backtracking and unfair difficulty spikes from Pikmin deciding to get themselves destroyed instead of listening which makes the combat go back and forth between skillful and luck base, and my punishment for losing is replaying the easy dragged on boring caves again
I couldn't help but feel like a lot of the points you made were nitpicks as opposed to major criticisms. I will agree on points such as its short length, lack of online multiplayer, and especially how uninteresting the three protagonists are in comparison to Olimar.
the online play wouldn't be possible except with like 5 to 10 pikmin per person 2 people max most gaming pc's wouldn't be able to handle 100 pikmin per person online play nintendo is a company not a wizard group
@Wafflest Waffle OMFG Am i being r/whooosh'd? "Local play works just fine" Yeah no shit It doesn't involve sending 100 individual movements of ai per second to someone on the other side of the planet The capabilities needed for local co-op is basically the same as for single player But in pikmin there is a huge amount of AI at all times That's really hard to do without dedicated servers And we all know that's not gonna happen The PC thing was a comparison gaming PC's are way stronger than the wii u And even some of those wouldn't properly be able to handle such a huge amount of AI's at once online with others
Yeah but I think nitpicks can be fair, (since this is just a list of his opinions.) Especially in Pikmin 3, where these minor issues add up to something semi-significant. Things like no new surprise pikmin, lack of enemy/collectable/level variety, minimal world expansion, anti-climactic bosses, weird pacing, kinda bland level layouts, lack of fun descriptions for each collectable/enemy, etc... They don't make much impact individually, at all! But when you add them ALL up, they play a huge part in what makes this game feel so... sterile. And dont get me wrong, I love this game! But man, it really is bland compared to the previous two, and there isn't much excuse for that.
Pikmin 1 and 2 were also very short. 2 was longer, but when you cut apart the filler it's just reskinned Pikmin 1 areas with a whole surplus of fillery dungeons that suck. Not to mention that getting all 201 treasures is technically optional. The game properly "ends" as soon as you hit 10000 Pokos, complete with credits. There's just optional stuff to do afterwards. Olimar also got a whole game of just his inner monologues to be interesting. In 2, not only is Olimar's character shoved to the side, the new characters like are pretty one-note too, well aside from Louie (kinda.)
Gotta agree with the last bit. Mainly because the most recent game in one of my favorite franchises, Etrian Odyssey, has an entire pseudo-class bared behind a streetpass barrier, but fans of the franchise are so few and far between that you will almost never streetpass with someone; that’s not to mention that the person you streetpass NEEDS to already have the pseudo-class then there’s more hoops you have to jump through too, a potential hoop is literally having streetpassed 100 people which is near impossible. Literally the first person to get the class only got it because they hacked the game. Which it’s possible to get this class through online means of scanning QR codes, it’s still an extremely abysmal way to unlock a portion of the game, and it’s frankly just bullshit tactics. Like secrets within the game are one thing but having to literally go out of your way to search the Internet for the opportunity for a part of the game is bogus. To anyone who read all that, sorry about the rant, just very pissed about that.
I do have to agree with many of these points, but at the same time I still adore Pikmin 3 and it’s gotta be my favourite of the three! I find the replay ability to be fantastic because of it being a shorter game, and no matter how many times I play it I still enjoy the game greatly! The mission mode is a blast, Winged Pikmin have become my favourite species, and the graphics are freaking GORGEOUS!! Pikmin 2 is a masterpiece in itself, but something about Pikmin 3 holds a special place in my heart 💙💙💙
Clara-Soul Gameplay I swear that the vast majority of mission mode was paid dlc, unless that was only for 2 player mission mode. Because I specifically remember being disappointed that you could only play like 5 missions.
Somethings to take note of: 1. Pikmin 2 and Pikmin 1 and 3, while being the same concept, are very different games in practice, they cater to different groups although they share a concept 2. As far marketing goes, marketers are complete idiots, since the developers had A LOT to clean up, the marketers revealed the winged pikmin like complete idiots, so you can blame them for the terrible disappointment 3. Winged pikmin and Rock Pikmin replaced the white and the purple because they wouldn't work in the 1 formula. Whites were used to quickly move things along in a short pace in order to bypass obstacles since almost nothing in 2 had changing paths. Winged pikmin replaced the whites to fix their problems with changing paths as the day went on. Purples were okay because speed was so sluggish since 2 had so many deadly traps. In the 1 format this is SO not okay. These would completely break the game and would break the so delicate pacing. Rock Pikmin replaced them because they did a similar enough effect, but they were not so slow that they were deadweight on carrying stuff and they did not ruin combat.
Counterpoints Anything not mentioned is a pretty valid point. This includes lack of piklopedia, small amount of new creatures, only fruit is collected, no online, no more marching, lack of depth, and locking story behind codes. Lack of night Playing at night goes against what a Pikmin game is. Everything is centered around time management and getting things done before the end of the day. Having night sections completely ruins this, thus ruining one of the best parts of the franchise Lack of Purples and Whites These pikmin were very clearly designed around Pikmin 2's cave system, with them being limited in number in exchange for being overpowered. They were already overused in Pikmin 2, but making them infinite like the every other pikmin type in Pikmin 3 would throw balance out the window. Plus, having 5 types is significantly more manageable that seven. Also, considering the way 3 was built, having purples and whites would be pointless, as rocks already fill the purple's use in combat, and wings are significantly better at carrying things even without the speed bonus. There is no poison in Pikmin 3 (Except for a single attack by the Vehemoth Phosbat that CANT KILL) and buried treasure can be dug up by anyone. Similar areas I'm sorry... what? The Tropical Wilds and Garden of Hope are similar-ish, but every other area is drastically different. Twilight River has the river with lily pads, the Distant Tundra has the split halves and MASSIVE cave system, and the Formidable Oak is one big boss battle. Lack of vertical areas is a somewhat decent point, but the rest of this entry is just wrong. It's short It's supposed to be short. It's supposed to be able to be replayed constantly, allowing one to get better and better. Pikmin 2 is frequently cited as going on too long, so switching back to the original style will probably improve ratings. Plus, the mission mode should be more than supple for anyone who wants to get a ton of time out of the game. This may be anecdotal, but Pikmin 3 is by far my most played Wii U game. And the story in 3 is much bigger than the other 2 games combined. Only 2 new types Any more would be too much to manage and break the balance of the game. You cite puffmin and bulbmin as examples, but puffmin aren't real Pikmin, as they can't be controlled (And if you care about non-playable "Pikmin", the scornets fit the bill pretty decently and are much more interesting that puffmin IMO) and bulbmin are a type of Pikmin that would only work in Pikmin 2 due to its cave system Anticlimactic bosses Somewhat valid, but I still think the argument is flawed. Every boss in the game is only accessible after one has visited AT LEAST 80% of the areas in the world, and they're generally positioned in a way so that when you beat them, you're likely to go on to the next area the next day. Being required to do EVERYTHING else in an area before fighting a boss would not only not work (You need to beat a boss to progress and get new stuff to come back with) but would ALSO mess with the non-linearity Pikmin provides. And I'm sorry, but you not realizing the Plasm Wraith was the final boss is frankly stupid. Everything else in the game has been building up to meeting Olimar and getting the cosmic drive key, the Plasm Wraith had a unique theme, it got it's own goddamned area with no fruit where it chases you and then fights you with a battle longer than any other in the game. Poorly paced Your ONLY point was how late you get blues, and your number of more than half is frankly stupid. It's probably somewhere closer to 10 (I counted SIX, ONE ELEVENTH OF THE FRUIT, SIGNIFICANTLY LESS THAN HALF, but I most likely missed a few), especially because of winged pikmin. An additional area after blues would've been nice but everything else you bring up is just plain incorrect. Reused fruit names Obviously, sure it may be a bit weird in-universe, but it would be really strange if they had identical fruit to the second game with different names. Bland Story Pikmin isn't an RPG, it's not supposed to be a story driven game. Anyone who complains about the story of a main series Mario game is stupid because it's meant to be quick to the point. Same thing applies here. Only 5 areas Read my paragraph on "Short". No multiplayer story mode Again, goes against the speedrunning philosophy Pikmin 3 has. Would've been nice in mission mode, though, I'll give you that. Overall, this video was pretty bad. It seems incredibly rushed, especially when you get basic facts wrong (How many treasures require blues). Less than half of your points were good, and your reasoning seemed limited and rambly even when it was right. Try a little harder next time, k?
To be honest, the Plasm Wraith really was a bad fight. Dont get me wrong, the build up to it was intriguing *(even if the level leading up to the fight was just a lazy carbon copy of the submerged castle),* but the actual fight itself is........ kind of bad. The whole fight mostly consists of you just tediously chipping away at its *absurdly large* health bar. While the wraith constantly spams these very annoying attacks at you. The fight just feels so tedious and unengaging that just.... so bad.
Ima go against your comment. I felt like this game was too much of a cake walk unlike pikmin 2 when I felt like I was actually given a challenge. And he was right about blues. I hated how they were so late in the game and the next day I was allowed to fight the final boss. I myself am a pikmin speed runner and this game was pretty easy to beat and short (no pikmin deaths and all fruits collected) and replaying it wasnt something I was interested in unless I wanted to speed run. As for the new pikmin types it would of been interesting to see a new variation of pikmin like the bulb men and buff men. The scornets were cool for like 2 seconds then go pretty dull to say the least. And with bosses I found them to be pretty either really easy or really boring aside from the final boss which was pretty bad (but the concept behind him was cool). And then the worst part for me was the pikmin AI to me it seemed like it got worse like there was times when I tried swarming and they ran for a second and then went idle in a straight line which is easy pickings for any creature
Yeah. I will admit that the game was poorly paced. Thus causing the game to become a whole lot more railroaded and linear than it needs to be. And yes, i also hated how you don't get blues until NEAR THE END OF THE GAME. Again, extremely limiting exploration for like half of the game until you get the blues. Which, like what I said, you dont get until the end of the game. I think THAT was what Dazz mean't to say durring the poorly paced part. But he couldn't portray it well because of how horribly unscripted and rushed the video was.
honestly found it better than the first one. 2 and 3 were both equally better than the first in my opinion. And the things 'wrong' with it didn't really feel wrong. My only complaint was that i hated the multiple characters to control concept and usually just left them at the base unless i needed them.
malfunctioning Egoist really? That’s what I loved about It, the feeling of making effective use of my day and handling multiple tasks a day was great, and idk if this sound weird but I love watching Pikmin do things, so seeing Pikmin working from all directions was so cool, though I can definitely see how it would be annoying and I really enjoyed playing Pikmin 1 with one captain
@@ladygremlin8287 you'll enjoy it more if you utilize them Like in chuggas let play of pikmin 3 Using them to mutli task and accomplish as much as possible was the best feeling
I was suspicious, but not completely sure if you weren't using your own gameplay. 25:26 created a break though. Why? Simple, that picture of Charlie was taken in days 19-20 in a video called Double Date
Also something with bosses, (hornet dude specifically) these bosses aren’t really good at using the new type, I literally beat the hornet boss with NO WINGED PIKMIN, I beat theme with yellows and rocks, lol.
I'm sorry, but most of what you said aren't actual problems with the game itself, its more things that you expected or wanted out of a make-believe, idealized version you created. Pikmin 3 doesn't have a problem with online multi-player because that game doesn't exist to begin with. This video should very clearly indicate that these "issues" you are listing should rather be considered things you wish were in Pikmin 3, not inherent issues with the story, gameplay, or general aspects of the game. Now, there is valid criticism that you've made here. For example point 11 (Timestamp: 17:04) is indeed a pacing issue that could be fixed to improve upon the game's progression and flow that is already established. While I do agree with some of you're points, most of them are simply asking Pikmin 3 to be a different game, one in which you're ideas are somehow implemented perfectly into the already existing game. While Nintendo claimed that Pikmin 3 had been in development over the 9 year wait, I'm sure it was at the bottom of their priorities. They put out a great game by any standard and to and extent accomplished what they set out to do. They made a more accessible Pikmin entry that appeals to a more general audience while still maintaining and in some ways refining the core aspects of the franchise.
I think a way for them to add a new Pikmin type to the game would be to use the Plasm Wraith like they did the Puffstool from the first game. The Plasm wraith could maybe turn the Pikmin gold and turn them into it's servants that way the battle with it could be more interesting and make the Wraith more of a threat.
22:00 This point can actually be seen as a positive. If you think about it, the ship from Pikmin 2 was the one that analyzed and gave a name for these fruits, since it and the captains were the ones that discovered them for the first time in the Pikmin universe. So it actually makes more sense that the information of the findings were actually officially named like that. Just like everyone on planet Earth knows that an apple is a spherical fruit with colors ranging from red to green or yellow, everyone in the universe of Pikmin (Hocotate and Koppai) knows that a specific fruit has that name. Just like in our real world, when something new is found, the researcher that discovered it usually gets to choose its name (as far as I know, if not then explain me how it works, I'm curious). One could even theory that the ship of Pikmin 3 actually downloads the information of a new fruit because if it was found in Pikmin 2, because it was already named and analyzed by someone else. I think that's a neat theory. In short, it's both lazy and coherent. How convenient, huh?
The problem with that is 1. Different things have different names in different languages. Example, in english we call it a pineapple, but in every other language it is an Ananas. The only way koppai would have the same names for fruits as hocotate is if they shared information, which, if we assume is the case, opens up a new problem 2. The plot of pikmin 3 is that they are undergoing a food crisis and need to find other planets that have fruits they can grow back home on their own planet. If Koppai had access to Hocotate's database, they should have already known the pikmin planet held fruits in the first place, making the need to discover them kind of a plothole.
Seems kinda fucked up tbh. Firstly, it would require actually collecting creatures alive, which wouldn't really mesh well with pikmin's gameplay of carrying inanimate objects. Secondly, it calls into question the ethics of stealing alien creatures from their home planet to just shove them in a zoo for no reason. A lot of zoos typically have animals that couldn't be rehabilitated into the wild in the first place, but in pikmin you would be the ones injuring and basically poaching them, so... The only way that could work is if there is an actual devastating emergency for the planet that would kill all life on it, but something like that could end the series entirely because you would basically be blowing up the setting.
I think the biggest complaint about pikmin 3 I can think of is the fact that there hasn’t been anything new pikmin since (not counting that hey pikmin trash) so we’ve just been over playing pikmin 3 and seeing every flaw
The heads of the Winged Pikmin are bigger than the heads of most regular pikmin. Doesn't that mean they should be able to lift 9 times their weight like the Purples since the purples also have bigger heads? *Sin counter +1* (Don't worry, I'm not actually serious.)
20:41 - 23:18 also seems like his lets play as well. it even shows the kiwi for a long time when he was talking about how he likes kiwi, but the in game texture wasn't that good. also at 25:23 you can see the distant tundra's picture is flat out the captains face, just like chuggaaconroy's. Edit: after going through the whole video, all the non-multiplayer sections (i don't remember the multiplayer episodes that well. maybe them too, but i can't be sure.) are from chuggaaconroys videos.
@@toafloast1883 That doesn't matter. He literally just used boss gameplay, he could've taken something like that from his own letsplay anyway. It doesn't matter whose boss battle gameplay was used.
I know this is super late but I feel like the whole idea with fruit could be really cool if done correctly. I’m all for free exploration, but having a tiny bit of extra survival style tension is fun too. So, my solution is that there’s both treasure AND fruit. The fruit are scattered around in a way like Pikmin 3, and respawn after a few days. However, there’s also treasures, which are placed more like they are in Pikmin 2. Your main goal is the treasures, but the fruit are a necessity if you plan on an extended stay. Maybe the fruit could also be collected and combined in certain ways, like bananas and strawberries together makes a drink that boosts your captains or something.
Pikmin 4 needs to be like Pikmin 2. I want caves, longevity, and an almost uncountable amount of stuff to collect. How about we collect all 3 major collectibles of the previous games? Ship parts, Treasure, and food? The treasure can be limited to caves only, while parts and food can be limited to the map? I would also love more maps and map verity.
Pikmin is a time-based strategy based game, based on commanding your army of colorful carrots. Removing a core part of the game didn't sit with me well; while in caves, time is non-existent. Pikmin 2 is about open world exploration, but is too open, and has no urgency in anything.
My main issue was the complete and utter wasted potential of both the DLC not giving us more story content, and the fact there was no map editor of sorts, though I can understand why that wouldn't have been possible... Mini-Story Mode Expansions though? There's no excuse, so I hope that the most likely eventual port to the Switch may add that as bonus content, similar to the extra dungeon added in the two Zelda ports we got for Wii U, or the Bonus content with Mario Kart 8 Deluxe....
I feel like the characterization complaint is such a weird one, as that's what I would consider one of Pikmin 3's strongest aspects, even when compared to the first two games. Pikmin 1 does a great job of establishing Olimar's character, with the end of the day captain logs and the dialogue he brings with finding each ship part, but Pikmin 3 easily doubles the amount of dialogue and characterization done for the main trio. I feel like the complaint that they're one dimensional, with each of them only having one character trait, is deliberately misleading. The main traits you mentioned don't even feel integral to their character and more-so weird quirks they have. Although, I understand what point you were trying to make. To elaborate, Pikmin 3 easily puts forth the most effort out of the three main games to add depth to their characters, even before the inclusion of the Piklopedia in 3 Deluxe, which I know came out after the release of this video. You have the captain's logs at the end of each day (which can include dialogue for each captain), optional dialogue between the trio while in the Drake before you depart to explore, and there's Brittany's description for every kind of fruit, which includes so many funny lines and really highlights her fun, bubbly persona. The optional talking between each day, is even better, as it houses some of the most fun dialogue between the 3 characters. They feel like real friends and teammates, and this optional dialogue brings out the subtleties in their character traits. I can distinctly remember so many of their conversations together, such as when Charlie mentions bringing tourists to the planet, in which Alph shuts down the idea in a panic, or when Brittany jokes how the Vehemoth Phosbat looks remarkably like Charlie, and Charlie even remarks how he was only reminded of himself while trapped in the beast. The dialogue across the whole game really establishes each member of the trio as distinct characters with depth. Alph is highly analytical yet awkward and socially unaware. Charlie is boastful and prideful, but also is picked on by the other two and has a softer side, as his rubber ducky implies. Lastly, Brittany is fun and makes the most personal comments of the three. Since the game's emphasis isn't on the story, there will always be more to be desired, but the main trio are nearly as iconic as Olimar to me, and that's thanks to the lengths the game goes to to establish them as developed characters and making their friendship seem real.
Also, maybe switch up the talking point transitions some more? I was really sick of that muddy raccoon-eyed Pikmin after like the third time. Love the vid though 👌
Pikmin 3 is fundamentally broken, is just bridge-building simulator, incredibly linear, and while it SHOULD have an incredibly heavy story about the fear of a food shortage, it instead jokingly says their world is ending because of “a basic lack of planning”.
People complain about how broken purple pikmin were. But winged pikmin are actually way more broken. Just watch a speedrun of the game or try a 10-day run yourself like I did and you will see how broken winged pikmin are.
I understand I’m not exactly in the majority here, but Pikmin 3 (and the Deluxe port) will always be one of my all time favorite games. (Hell it’s #4 on my top 10!) I just adore everything about it and will always love this magical game. Sssssstill a shame we can’t use purple and white Pikmin in the main game though.
I JUST GOT A GREAT IDEA what if a new game plus was added to pikmen 4 and you can pick what pikmen types you can use throu out the whole game. Also how about climbing Pikmin
I love that this 2 year old dazz video is about *pikmin* and has His Theme from Undertale as the background music (at least, it’s one of the His Theme variations- I’m not too into undertale,,,,)
Holy shit, I just realized something. Pikmin: 1. Pikmin 2 2. Pikmin 3. Pikmin 3 4. Hey, Pikmin Paper Mario: 1. TTYD 2. Paper Mario 3. Super Paper Mario 4. Sticker Star Both follow the pattern of 2nd, 1st, 3rd, 4th. Let's hope the pattern breaks with pikmin 4. Edit: These aren't my personal opinions, but rather, what I think the community's general consensus might be. If I am wrong, correct me.
way less consensus on Pikmin compared to Paper Mario though. You can find somebody who thinks Pikmin 1/2/3 is the best but almost everyone agrees that TTYD is the best Paper Mario
Hai. I like pikmin a LOT, the normal areas are nice and medium, but the bosses... (I'm just a coward but) they're too hard! I'm so terrified of losing pikmin that even the MAWDAD made an unfair match with me!
A big problem was the reuse of creatures, pikmin 1 had minibosses for IS, bulborbs, snagrets, and beetles, sheargrubs, and dwarf bulborbs. FN had fiery blowhogs, wollywogs, puffstool, and shearwigs, and a beady long legs. DS had bulbears, dwarf bulbears, puffy blowhogs, snitchbugs, and beetle. It reused enemies about 5 times, and they were usually retextured. Pikmin 3 had whiptongue bulborbs in most every level, fiery blowhogs in the ice level, bulborbs everywhere, not even retextured, reuse of fruits, and the swooping snitchbug, which was a rare species that sometimes hides underground is pretty much everywhere now. The game is beautiful but it feels reused and this much shorter game and the game feels the same over and over.
I agree with what you're saying. All this boils down to is LAZINESS. Nintendo makes MILLIONS of dollars and all their games are lazily thrown together and honestly I'm sick of them constantly peddling garbage to people. GOOD GRAPHICS AREN'T THE ONLY THING THAT MAKE A GOD DAMN GAME GOOD. it's annoying af. Like for example, the onion. WHY IS IT ONE ONION NOW? THAT DOESN'T EVEN MAKE SENSE. Is it a machine? Is it alive? It seems like someone drew that design and thought it looked cool and for NO REASON OR EXPLANATION they changed it for the SOLE PURPOSE that it looked cool. This is the kind of lazy shit that ruins games.
1. If all the types of Pikmin in this game had an onion, there would be 5 onions and I don’t think that people want to go between 5 onions to just get some Pikmin and I think the onions “breeding” is a whole lot better than 5 individual onions. 2.Really, that’s what you focus on out of all of the things in Pikmin 3?The onion housing all the Pikmin? That’s just a nitpick and I don’t at all see how that makes the game a bad one.
I love all the Pikmin games but 2 is my favorite, for many of the reasons you mentioned here, 3 didn't quite entertain me *as much* as 2. Again, they're all still absolutely fantastic games though.
did you honestly expect online to work with pikmin i ... i just feel dissapointed shocked do you know how impossibly hard it is to do that some gaming pc's wouldn't even be able to handle that to make that work it would like 5 pikmin per person max that's stupid nintendo is a company not a group of wizards
Calming undertale background music at the beginning ?!? (Purple/white part) Boi why cant i sub to you multiple times And also for super mario sunshine bgm
It’s so annoying how CLOSE it is to being perfect, but it just.. isn’t, because of so many small things!! Alph, Brittany and Charlie have a ton of potential for being super fleshed out characters. Alph talks about how the ship was made by his uncle once (I think that’s what it was) Brittany mentions her family and aunts a few times. And then Charlie is apparently a “legend” on Koppi. All these things are mentioned once, and never again. You said this a lot in the video, but it just doesn’t go anywhere!!! Even Louie got stripped of his potential. I was REALLY looking forward to seeing how Louie talks to the crew, only to find out “Food!” Is his only line!! Also, I’ve never heard of those videos at the end, were they reused for the side stories in Pikmin 3 deluxe?
I've never actually finished pikmin 3. I either get bored or frustrated with the control scheme. I hate the wiimote/gamepad controls, I want to be able to use my secondary control stick to micromanage the movement of my pikmin. I hate the dodge mechanic and it's so annoying that in your first playthrough you're more than likely not going to have it for your first boss fight. You lose so many pikmin in that first boss because itll charge you and there isn't much you can do about it. Thrown pikmin will get knocked into random corners of the boss map and will die because you cant keep track of them. The charge mechanic sucks too. You use all your pikmin and can't decide how many resources to dedicate to a fight or breaking a wall. This game is just too annoying and frustrating for me to ever finish or enjoy
my major issues that you didnt include: 1. electricity not being absolutely horrifiying/ IT SHOULD KILL INSTANTLY. 2. doesnt have uncomfortable/creepy atmospheres (water wraith, the egg and mushroom virus in pikmin 1) 3. THE GAME IS TOO EASY. weak points like eyeballs let you cheese most enemies. 4. ROCK PIKMIN ARE OVERPOWERED. no stabbing them, no crushing them. (you can cheese the final boss with just them) 5. the intelligent spider that used elemental treasures was just so amazing a final boss, that i thought the wraith was just a pushover (i did love seeing the new wraith species though!) 6. the character upgrades suck in comparison to 2. 7. the paywall to access content that should have been part of the horrible game to begin with.
You couldn't play as Olimar or Louie (or D), because then your would be playing 4 characters. Pikmin 1 - 1 playable character. Pikmin 1 - 2 playable characters . Pikmin 3 - 3 playable characters
Pikmin 4 should incorporate colony building. Like hear me out that gives you the parts to grab during the day and a much needed night cycle settlement defense mode.
My biggest gripe was how there were no caves. They felt like the Pikmin version of Zelda Dungeons, you only had the Pikmin you entered with, they were creepy and intimidatingly hard sometimes, you never knew how deep they were, you almost had a feeling that that you wouldn't get out alive. Then when you reached a crazy, sometimes scary boss at the very bottom with what Pikmin you had left, it was the perfect way to prove how good you were. Pikmin 3 was so disappointing that way!
Another problem with Pikmin 3 was that electricity wasn’t a threatening element. In Pikmin 2, I would get tense around anything involving electricity because I knew it could easily wipe out my Pikmin squad since it was instant death. In Pikmin 3, it didn’t instantly kill Pikmin, but instead it would just stun them until you whistled at them.
The reason why the bosses are like that to make it seem more natural like it’s just a normal thing instead of something crazy looking making it seem like not a natural thing
Some points are agreeable, such as short length but almost all of your points were either nitpicks or are just 'Pikmin 2 did it so why didn't Pikmin 3?' Like complaining you're collecting fruit and that fruit repeat is stupid... It's justified story-wise
Quick tidbit: The bulbmin model is in the pikmin3 files, it was just never used. And if anyone was wondering about captain d, it was just going to be louie, but they scraped that and just made him a major nuisance.
3:25 The extra incentive is the colors of the fruit mixing, you gotta admit that it was pretty satisfying.
100% agree

Pikmin 3 online play was never going to feasible
dazz needs to see this
Plus, some people are just going to purposely ruin the mode for others.
@Emile Morel what an epic thing to do, I bet everyone's gonna think you're cool for that
Ummm, can someone explain this in dummy language lol
@@Krimzon06 The more moving objeccts you have in a game, the more processing power it takes to run the game in multiplayer and the bigger the likelihood of network lag rekated glitches. Network multiplayer in Pikmin 3 would be nearly impossible with 100+ Characters to synchronize across consoles at once, where most games rarely exceed 10 unless they have powerful dedicated servers, which Nintendo rarely uses
I feel like in Pikmin 4 will have Louie as the main character.

@Satan hellmann it is it has 2 parts
Henriko Magnifico that is so true!
Satan hellmann Bruh Moment
You know why poison and purple weren’t in the game? Because 100 Pikmin divided by 7 is a mathematical nightmare
Exactly, I was thinking the same thing
Do we really count the Formidable Oak as an "Area"? It's Just the Boss area and not much else.
It would've been cool if we could explore it for a few days before we found the boss or something
and that 50000 mile long tunnel there where you are chased by the plasm thingy
And the puzzle room
If you say so. The final trial would then also count as just a boss arena.
The same could be said about The Final Trial in the first game.
My only complaint is that its too short :c
I got the game in Christmas 2020 and im already at Formidable Oak with all the fruits collected, 3 days later.
Pikmin 2 was still better because it had unlimited days to beat the game and you can actually enjoy the environment
Yeah but it didn't really feel like a pikmin game though.
I will agree on points such as its short length, lack of online multiplayer, and especially how uninteresting the three protagonists are in comparison to Olimar.
the online play wouldn't be possible
except with like
5 to 10 pikmin per person
2 people max
most gaming pc's wouldn't be able to handle 100 pikmin per person online play
nintendo is a company
not a wizard group
@Wafflest Waffle OMFG
Am i being r/whooosh'd?
"Local play works just fine"
Yeah no shit
It doesn't involve sending 100 individual movements of ai per second to someone on the other side of the planet
The capabilities needed for local co-op is basically the same as for single player
But in pikmin there is a huge amount of AI at all times
That's really hard to do without dedicated servers
And we all know that's not gonna happen
The PC thing was a comparison
gaming PC's are way stronger than the wii u
And even some of those wouldn't properly be able to handle such a huge amount of AI's at once online with others
StrayMutant:TGO Yeah, they have their stories and are quite good, but in my opinion Olimar put the expectations extremely high due to his charm
Clara-Soul Gameplay small nitpick, I’m pretty sure pikmin is shorter than pikmin 3. Not by much though
my fav is Rock Pikmin
Somethings to take note of:
1. Pikmin 2 and Pikmin 1 and 3, while being the same concept, are very different games in practice, they cater to different groups although they share a concept
2. As far marketing goes, marketers are complete idiots, since the developers had A LOT to clean up, the marketers revealed the winged pikmin like complete idiots, so you can blame them for the terrible disappointment
@Emile Morel Thanks??
Nevermind. Thanks for the compliment.
*We need pikmin 4!!*
Yes
Definetly!
Yes!
Yeah.
Absolutely !
Counterpoints
Anything not mentioned is a pretty valid point. This includes lack of piklopedia, small amount of new creatures, only fruit is collected, no online, no more marching, lack of depth, and locking story behind codes.
Lack of night
Playing at night goes against what a Pikmin game is. Everything is centered around time management and getting things done before the end of the day. Having night sections completely ruins this, thus ruining one of the best parts of the franchise
Lack of Purples and Whites
These pikmin were very clearly designed around Pikmin 2's cave system, with them being limited in number in exchange for being overpowered.
Similar areas
I'm sorry...
It's short
It's supposed to be short.
Only 2 new types
Any more would be too much to manage and break the balance of the game. You cite puffmin and bulbmin as examples, but puffmin aren't real Pikmin, as they can't be controlled (And if you care about non-playable "Pikmin", the scornets fit the bill pretty decently and are much more interesting that puffmin IMO) and bulbmin are a type of Pikmin that would only work in Pikmin 2 due to its cave system
Anticlimactic bosses
Somewhat valid, but I still think the argument is flawed.
Poorly paced
Your ONLY point was how late you get blues, and your number of more than half is frankly stupid.
Reused fruit names
Obviously, sure it may be a bit weird in-universe, but it would be really strange if they had identical fruit to the second game with different names.
Bland Story
Pikmin isn't an RPG, it's not supposed to be a story driven game. Anyone who complains about the story of a main series Mario game is stupid because it's meant to be quick to the point. Same thing applies here.
Only 5 areas
Read my paragraph on "Short".
No multiplayer story mode
Again, goes against the speedrunning philosophy Pikmin 3 has.
Gud comment
To be honest, the Plasm Wraith really was a bad fight. Dont get me wrong, the build up to it was intriguing *(even if the level leading up to the fight was just a lazy carbon copy of the submerged castle),* but the actual fight itself is........ kind of bad. The whole fight mostly consists of you just tediously chipping away at its *absurdly large* health bar. While the wraith constantly spams these very annoying attacks at you. The fight just feels so tedious and unengaging that just.... so bad.
Not to mention, there was a new, really neat thing like Puffmin and Bulbmin; Scornets
He wasn't too far off, it's nearly 5 years after this video that Pikmin 4 is coming out.
What's really wrong is that not enough people have played it.
I know that I’m in the vast minority, especially with the people on this channel, but Pikmin 3 will always be my favourite.

honestly found it better than the first one. 2 and 3 were both equally better than the first in my opinion. And the things 'wrong' with it didn't really feel wrong. My only complaint was that i hated the multiple characters to control concept and usually just left them at the base unless i needed them.
malfunctioning Egoist really? I was suspicious, but not completely sure if you weren't using your own gameplay. 25:26 created a break though. Why? Simple, that picture of Charlie was taken in days 19-20 in a video called Double Date

Dude I haven't been on this video for 2 years thank you so much for bringing me back into this rabbit hole
22:00
This point can actually be seen as a positive.
Weren't Strawberries named something different in Pikmin2
The problem with that is
1. Different things have different names in different languages. Example, in english we call it a pineapple, but in every other language it is an Ananas. The only way koppai would have the same names for fruits as hocotate is if they shared information, which, if we assume is the case, opens up a new problem
Pikmin 4 should have us collect creatures for an intergalactic zoo or some kind of space ark.

Maybe the fruit could also be collected and combined in certain ways, like bananas and strawberries together makes a drink that boosts your captains or something.
i guess to summurize #8 you could say pikmin 3 is a "fruit-full" game?
Im playing pikmin 3 right now and when he mentioned brittany falling out a second time it happend in game!
Im starting to feel like pikmin 4 is never gonna come ☹️☹️☹️
Tantrum Turtwig it’s coming
Pikmin 4 needs to be like Pikmin 2. I want caves, longevity, and an almost uncountable amount of stuff to collect. How about we collect all 3 major collectibles of the previous games? Ship parts, Treasure, and food? The treasure can be limited to caves only, while parts and food can be limited to the map? I would also love more maps and map verity.
I don't like how Pikmin 2 is that long, BUT I do hope it balances things out to a perfect mix.
I don't reallt liked caves in Pikmin 2,they lack of the life that the exteriors had and occuped most of Pikmin 2 gameplay.
maybe we can have it also like a sort of sims cities, were we start a civilization and build it up from the bottom.
Pikmin is a time-based strategy based game, based on commanding your army of colorful carrots. Removing a core part of the game didn't sit with me well; while in caves, time is non-existent. Pikmin 2 is about open world exploration, but is too open, and has no urgency in anything.
Bluespheal Pikmin 2 was not too long, because you can choose your own objective, 10000 moneys or all
My main issue was the complete and utter wasted potential of both the DLC not giving us more story content, and the fact there was no map editor of sorts, though I can understand why that wouldn't have been possible...
There is no more marching
But there is rolling
When it comes to dodging enemy attacks, rolling is way cooler than marching.
Woah he’s alive
25:22 Yo did you use Chuggaa's LP for this? I recognize that photo...
The Drake or Brittany know the fruit names because Koppai and Hocotate are fairly close together, and likely trade with each other.
I'll see you in another 9 years....you weren't wrong. We're still waiting for Pikmin 4...
1 year
little did you know
Pikmin 3 is fundamentally broken, is just bridge-building simulator, incredibly linear, and while it SHOULD have an incredibly heavy story about the fear of a food shortage, it instead jokingly says their world is ending because of “a basic lack of planning”.
How is it linear? Have you ever played Pikmin 2 and the stupid linear action-based caves taking up 90% of game?
People complain about how broken purple pikmin were. But winged pikmin are actually way more broken. Just watch a speedrun of the game or try a 10-day run yourself like I did and you will see how broken winged pikmin are.
Pikmin 3 sucks because it has no required collectables like pikmin 1 and 2
@@zatchbells yeah it does. You have to get fruit for juice and get cell phones to reach new areas
Zach Ella Ever heard of juice supply and how it helps you stay alive
PIKMIN 3 DELUXE HAS THE PIKLOPEDOA AND 5 DIFERENT ENTRIES SO HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHA PIKMIN 3 IS A PERFECT GAME BOIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII
Pikmin 3 deluxe is getting a piklopedia!!! Very exciting!!
And co op, side stories and dlc is free, and more
I understand I’m not exactly in the majority here, but Pikmin 3 (and the Deluxe port) will always be one of my all time favorite games. (Hell it’s #4 on my top 10!) I just adore everything about it and will always love this magical game. Sssssstill a shame we can’t use purple and white Pikmin in the main game though.
Dazz: There was only two new Pikmin types
Me: *ignores what he says and listens to ths Pokemon XD music*
Music choice really didn't make much sense...
I JUST GOT A GREAT IDEA what if a new game plus was added to pikmen 4 and you can pick what pikmen types you can use throu out the whole game. Also how about climbing Pikmin
It doesn't feel like exploration. not after the first few playthroughs.
I love that this 2 year old dazz video is about *pikmin* and has His Theme from Undertale as the background music (at least, it’s one of the His Theme variations- I’m not too into undertale,,,,)
Holy shit, I just realized something.
Pikmin:
1. Pikmin 2
2. Pikmin
3. Pikmin 3
4. Hey, Pikmin
Paper Mario:
1. TTYD
2. Paper Mario
3. Super Paper Mario
4. Sticker Star
Both follow the pattern of 2nd, 1st, 3rd, 4th. Let's hope the pattern breaks with pikmin 4.
Edit:
These aren't my personal opinions, but rather, what I think the community's general consensus might be. If I am wrong, correct me.
way less consensus on Pikmin compared to Paper Mario though. You can find somebody who thinks Pikmin 1/2/3 is the best but almost everyone agrees that TTYD is the best Paper Mario
evilmanimani Well, good point. (also, almost is pretty right. ttyd is the consensus' fav, but my fav is super.)
Pikmin 3 is not remotely comparable to Color Splash.
Scoobert Doobert Dude, I mean the fourth pikmin game. Pikmin 3 is like pikmin's SPM, not CS.
If you don’t look at the “Paper Mario Formula”tm, Sticker Star was actually a decent game.
Hai. I like pikmin a LOT, the normal areas are nice and medium, but the bosses... (I'm just a coward but) they're too hard! I'm so terrified of losing pikmin that even the MAWDAD made an unfair match with me!
25:23 look at Charlie’s face on the camera XD HAHAHAHAHAH
I know
Ok... You used some of Emile's let's play of Pikmin 3 for footage. Just want to point that out. I don't mind it at all
Okay so I wasn't crazy
Pikmin 3 was made to introduce players to the franchise
Pikmin 3 felt like a tech demo than a finished game o3o
Okay, we went from Yoshi's Island bgm to Undertale.
*WTF*
Pikmin four won’t be rushed the developers are taking their time
The thing is... Pikmin 3 is my favorite Pikmin game.
OverlordDystroy Same!! I love all the games but 3 has to be my favorite
YES. The wait was worth it, in my opinion.
Mines is 2
Same, it's like the good old game but 10 times better, I feel 2 feels a little detached of what a Pikmin game should be.
Pikmin 3 is my favrot I can't tell you how many times I replayed it
Story mode - casual gameplay
Mission mode - intense gameplay
Hey,at reason 9 I RECOGNIZE THAT THEME that's the 60 seconds bunker theme! I appreciate that
I agree with what you're saying.
@@lubbiewhitmire6953 Eh...he is a N64/GameCube fanboy. His comment reflects that.
well deluxe has an expanded piklopedia soooo....
Why is the story so short?
Fry: "It took an hour to write, I thought it'd take an hour to read!"
I love all the Pikmin games but 2 is my favorite, for many of the reasons you mentioned here, 3 didn't quite entertain me *as much* as 2. Again, they're all still absolutely fantastic games though.
anyone else click on this expecting a cinemasins parody?
There are things wrong with Pikmin 3 (like the lack of content) but it’s still the goat
did you
honestly expect
online
to work with pikmin
i
...
i just feel dissapointed
shocked
do you know how
impossibly hard it is to do that
some gaming pc's wouldn't even be able to handle that
to make that work it would
like
5 pikmin per person max
that's stupid
nintendo is a company
not a group of wizards
I guess some people forget that computers STILL have limits.
My problem they cut purple and white Pikmin both were fun to use/hath
Calming undertale background music at the beginning ?!? (Purple/white part)
Boi why cant i sub to you multiple times
And also for super mario sunshine bgm
This game is just too annoying and frustrating for me to ever finish or enjoy
my major issues that you didnt include:
1. electricity not being absolutely horrifiying/ IT SHOULD KILL INSTANTLY.
2. doesnt have uncomfortable/creepy atmospheres (water wraith, the egg and mushroom virus in pikmin 1)
3. THE GAME IS TOO EASY. weak points like eyeballs let you cheese most enemies.
4. ROCK PIKMIN ARE OVERPOWERED. no stabbing them, no crushing them. (you can cheese the final boss with just them)
5. the intelligent spider that used elemental treasures was just so amazing a final boss, that i thought the wraith was just a pushover (i did love seeing the new wraith species though!)
6. the character upgrades suck in comparison to 2.
7. the paywall to access content that should have been part of the horrible game to begin with.
2 years later pikmin 3 deluxe comes out and fixes all of this lol
Yo I loved all your pikmin series, and your gameplays. So happy to find you again😀😀
I never expected Dazz to ever say "A kick in the balls."
same
same
same
oh come on youtube!
You couldn't play as Olimar or Louie (or D), because then your would be playing 4 characters. Pikmin 1 - 1 playable character. Pikmin 1 - 2 playable characters . Pikmin 3 - 3 playable characters
Please edit that...it hurts...
Pikmin 3 to me felt, rushed...yeah it was polished nicely but it feels like they rushed it for wii u launch...which didnt even happen Lol
This is chuggaconroy gameplay
Pikmin 3 online? I'm in! Especially in the story. That's something I've been wanting for Pikmin 4, the ability to play the story with someone else.
Pikmin 4 should incorporate colony building. Like hear me out that gives you the parts to grab during the day and a much needed night cycle settlement defense mode.
25:23 the picture Chuggaconroy took of Charlie 😂
There's not many enemy varieties in pikmin 3 because the Hoccotaions killed them all
Honestly I think pikmin 3 frustrates me the most
What I learned from this video is that there is very little wrong with Pikmin 3
Dazz gets mad at minor nit-picks of a really good game.
Absolutely love all the different music you use from different GameCube games!
They made no sense geographically.
Good. Caves were awful
Pikmin 3 in my opinion is the best game.
Some points are agreeable, such as short length but almost all of your points were either nitpicks or are just 'Pikmin 2 did it so why didn't Pikmin 3?' Like complaining you're collecting fruit and that fruit repeat is stupid... It's justified story-wise
Quick tidbit:
The bulbmin model is in the pikmin3 files, it was just never used. And if anyone was wondering about captain d, it was just going to be louie, but they scraped that and just made him a major nuisance.
Do you think there will be a pikmin 4
123 R i hope yes
StankTank67 its already been confirmed for awhile lol. Its coming
StankTank67 Yep. And I will make sure that it happens. Pikmin 4 will happen. Mark my words.
Another point, THE GAMEPAD CONTROLS SUUUUCK.
And I stopped before the final boss because the stupid maze in the dumb tree
