  • Hello Everyone,
Quite a detailed video this time covering how to replace the Jaguar Alpine AJ9002R factory car stereo with a modern Pioneer unit. My current Jaguar Alpine unit is broken in that it would not input of the security code rendering it useless. This is the second AJ9002R unit I have used in the the Jaguar XJ40, having sourced this unit from a friend some years ago when the original unit died. Although I have the rare 6-disc CD player in the boot (trunk), I tend to use my phone to playback music these days via blue-tooth. The Pioneer unit has a single CD player, radio, and aux / blue-tooth capability as well as a supporting the Pioneer Smart Sync app for android (and I-phone).
    Parts used:
    Pioneer DEH-S520BT ( Car Audio Centre: www.caraudiocentre.co.uk )
Autoleads FP-14-00 Car Audio Single DIN Facia Adaptor, Black ( sourced from Amazon )
    Jaguar XJ6 Basic Audio Radio ISO lead 14 pin - (20-128) ( InCarTec: incartec.co.uk )
PLEASE NOTE that this 14-pin adaptor will not work with earlier cars that have a separate factory fit amplifier set-up
FOR Jaguar X300 onwards 20-pin ONLY: Autoleads PC2-55-4 Car Audio Harness Adaptor Lead ( sourced from Amazon )
    WARNINGS AND DISCLAIMERS:
    - Always disconnect the battery when performing work like this
    - This is an amateur guide designed to provide friendly advice and illustrate what steps I took on my car to improve the audio. It is not a professional guide nor does it constitute formal advice. If in doubt, consult a qualified professional car audio specialist
    - Things break on older cars. Older cars can be modified with after-market components / parts and sometimes be found wanting in terms of quality of fitment or even dangerous. I can't accept any liability for personal injury or loss directly or indirectly related to your actions following the informal amateur advice shared in this video

You posted this quite a long time ago, but If the battery was disconnected and reconnected just how you said at the very beginning of the video, would the radio turn on if I didn't put in the "security code"

Hi - for the Jaguar Alpine head units they do require a 4 digit code upon reconnection of the battery. It's not possible to move pass this input step and use the radio etc without successful input of the code. If you don't know the code then I did read somewhere that it is possible to decipher the code by looking at some pins on the back of the unit or serial number, but I have never done this. With proof of ownership, VIN, reg number, a Jaguar main dealer might be able to retrieve it for you. Thanks.
