Robben Island Tour | Cape Town Travel Vlog 2024. Come with me on this very interesting tour to Robben Island. If you don't know, Robin Island was a former prison where some of the biggest leaders were sentenced during Apartheid, including Nelson Mandela for 18 years out of his 27 year sentence. Over 3,000 political prisoners were here during their fight to end Apartheid. In 1997, it was was turned into a museum and declared a national monument for us to visit.

The little book you talked about was called dompas it was a kind of an identity book for black people it allowed them to be at a certain place or town at a certain time after sunset blacks were not allowed to be in town or city they should be in townships Soweto ,Tembisa ,Alexander and other places all over the country, but not in town
