Maybe I could make a junk journal with stuff or my mom? She recently died on thanksgiving and maybe I could turn old cards into still have from her and stuff from my dad he sent me like the poem he read at her memorial in it as a sort of memorial junk journal?
For me, the great thing about junk journals is that a person can basically do whatever he or she wants to do with them. I learned about JJs from Gayle Agostinelli. As soon as I started making my first booklet, I immediately departed from how Gayle makes her projects. I did not purposefully change things. I just imagined another way to do what I wanted to do. The biggest change I make in my books is I don't journal. I'm not that much inside my head. Instead, I create stories which I write and augment them with graphics. It takes longer but I feel I have more to show for my efforts than if I just wrote about my daily life. For me, the fun is in creating a life rather than recording one.😀
This is brilliantly simple construction. I've never made a journal, and from what you have shown us here, you can do anything with it. I love it. Thank you.
It’s fun to make a little journal like this to break up a more intense large journal making. It gives me “new eyes” on a larger project and often fresh inspiration! Thanks for the reminder Justina. Blessings to you from Ohio.
I've been making journal on my own since 2020, my best friend's birthday is here and I'm gonna give my absolute best to make her a cute journal as present.❤
Great gifts to make. I am going to include a few ideas for the recipient on how to use it. The 3-hole-pamphlet stitch (proper name) is a fast way to bind and looks "professional"! For future videos: I'd like some ideas on how you keep your scraps in check. I've redone my craft cupboard and the paper never seems to be easy to access and use. When I look for stuff things get even crazier. Can you share your tips?
well even if your system isnt working for you it's still a good thing to share because as viewers we can learn from it anyway. Thanks for your great videos.@@megjournals
Absolutely beautiful! A clear and concise tutorial! Thank you so much. I am busy gathering my supplies to make my first ever junk journal. I have watched lots of videos but I shall definitely be using this one. Lots of love 🏴❤
Thank you so much for this easy to follow tutorial! You do a wonderful job explaining things with voice and hands, I appreciate this so much! Also, it’s so cute!!
Meg, thank you so much for that fabulous tutorial. It is so helpful to see and learn from the whole process. Although, you have a great eye, and for some (me) that would have to come from years of experience. I hope to be able to learn that “eye” for pieces and placement over time. P.S. Looking forward to January!
I agree. This kind of binding has lasted people for centuries. And even if it breaks, it can easily be replaced. Glue stick, on the other hand, has not lasted too long for me.@@megjournals
Love it, seems doable. What glue do you use please? Is it strong? I just don’t want everything to fall apart if I decided to give my creation to my friends.
Hi Meg! I have just in love with your videos that I have jump into junk journaling . I have been buying old spanish books and magazines but I really love english, american and french vintage books and magazines. I have been thinking about mailing with someone abroad to share vintage papers from books and magazines but I do not know where and how to start this kind of correspondence. Will you please help me? I love fauna and botanical books (I also love fruits and vegetables), will you share with me a reference I can look for in amazon?? I really thank you for your videos and your time!
Have you tried your local thrift stores or antique shops? That's where get mine. Or you could try searching on Etsy/Ebay for packs if you're after something specific.
This is about a6 size (so a5 folded in half) ☺️ Usually I just eyeball it to make the size journal I feel like (sometimes square, skinny etc, possibilities are endless!)
Beautiful! If you are gifting it, pockets with gift cards would work.
I love this idea! Would be great with photos or other stationery bits too🥰
Yes! Photos too! 💕
I used your instructions to create a great journal! Thanks so much

I agree, what a lovely project to make, it will be very cathartic too
Go for it!

Thank you!
Thanks for watching! ☺️
I can see this is not prepared for longevity, but lots of fun.
Probably not archival but this binding even with a full journal after years has never failed me :)
I agree. This kind of binding has lasted people for centuries. And even if it breaks, it can easily be replaced. Glue stick, on the other hand, has not lasted too long for me.@@megjournals
It's so beautiful! Thank you for sharing! What brand is your corner punch?
Thanks so much! It's 'X cut' I believe, by the brand docrafts. Had it years and it's not failed me yet!
Love it, seems doable. What glue do you use please? Is it strong? I just don’t want everything to fall apart if I decided to give my creation to my friends.
I use pritt stick! ☺️
@@megjournals Thank you. Seems like a UK thing.
6:40 binding
Beautiful journal! ❤❤❤ How do you like your new studio? 😊
Thank you!! Love it, still settling in :) Actually editing the first studio vlog right now!😌
What book are you using, the one with months and flowers ?? Thanks

Thank you for answering@@megjournals. I hope I find the ones I love. Greetings from Spain!
Tip; instead of sewing the journal together, you can use (elastic) tread, ribbon, rubber bands or eyelets.
Great idea!
What book did you get your botanical pages?
Where do you get the curve cutter? I've never seen one.
Search for a corner rounder! Mine is an X cut, docrafts is the brand I think, had it years no problems :)
@@megjournals thank you! I think I found one via shein. Hopefully I ordered the right one, but I can always come back to this reply. ;-)
What is that gadget you used to round the corners ?
A corner rounder :)
How do you source the books? I imagine they are damaged ones?
Second hand from charity shops :)
What were those little strips of paper you were using ?
I think you’re referring to the washi tape - I will warn you it’s a rabbit hole, but I love them! 😂
@@megjournals oh dear I see what you mean 🥴
Meg what would be the length and breadth of the journal
This is about a6 size (so a5 folded in half) ☺️ Usually I just eyeball it to make the size journal I feel like (sometimes square, skinny etc, possibilities are endless!)
Great journal, and beautiful cover. 😃👍🏼
Thanks so much! 😊
You're welcome.
❤❤❤
You need to have the string on the left side and right side of the middle stitch before tying it.
💜💜💜

Hi new tochannel
Very creative. I'm not a fan of the binding technique however it is easy to do it that way. Easy and Fast.
