Getting back to what a true junk journal was meant to be....use what you have: paper around the house, your pens and paints or any media to decorate and no rules.
Very true...those supplies are New stuff anybody can go to all dollar/ discount stores and buy--plus get more than they are paying. Sad idea for such a fun art play. Never buy " new crap" for trashy junk journals. ♥️‼️♥️
This is the first junk journaling video that has shown me how to collage whole pages without full layering and I love it! Feels more in line with the purpose of repurposing what you have lying around and not just glueing store bought ephemera down on established paper.
Thank you. Far too many think they can only do a junk journal from a kit, from having specific supplies, from following the pattern given by others. This journal is lovely, organic, full of life, personal, and enduring. Thank you.
Meg, Sometimes, we need this gentle reminder of what true junk journaling is... using what you have around the house. I've been collecting pieces of junk mail. The time is here to do something with it! We get lost in all the "pretty STUFF" out there. Make our own💜 Thanks for this video.
I was trying to find videos that didn't look super advanced or have a ton of purchased material because I want to try junk journaling and I found your video. It's got me super excited to try to use my existing art supplies! I sew so I'm thinking fabric scraps glued onto the pages could look super cute
This is JUNK journal❤ not those pristine store-bought kit... I've wanted to start with junk journal but the videos I came across are intimidating. This one however gives me confidence.. I never wanted to buy supplies because I dont know if its for me or what, so this tutorial is great.. and the step by step reallt help because I will literally just going to start. More step by step tutorial please with real junk supplies.
i knew i'd get a few ideas even if i am not a beginner junk journal maker! love the stamping on the inside of envelopes. Great idea rounding the corners of each page. This is my go-to way of making a journal when i travel. it becomes a place to write and record and a place to save all my ticket stubs, packaging from the country i am visiting, some sample type in the language of the place, a postcard, a menu...all i need is a glue stick! thank you Meg
First time I have ever seen anything like this. I really wish I had seen this 4 years ago, when I first started, because this is the method, I would have wanted at the start. This is so fun!!
I have watched several of your accordion journal tutorials and im still scared to dive in!!!! You make it so effortlessly without fear!! I think I need to let go of control and give it a try!! Maybe with a glass of red wine!! LOL!!!!!
The first one I did was the tutorial on using one piece of 12x12 paper. It is super easy. I would suggest doing that one first! The best part is if you do make a mistake, you can watch the video in stages & refold in the right direction. I'm serious. Give it a try!
Thank you for going through the “how to” making the accordion patchwork style of junk journal. I made an accordion journal for JunkJournalJuly for my mom, but it was from original plain paper. (Not junk.) I’m going to try this patchwork style for November!
This is an amazing video. I had no interest in papercraft but someone on a planner video mentioned junk journaling so I looked to see what it was. Lucky for me, I found this video and it totally inspired me. I made my first journal that night and have been getting joy from this every day since. Now I’m up to me eyes in tea stained paper, book pages and recycled envelopes, and I couldn’t be happier 😊 Thank you
Just stumbled across your channel. I recently pulled out my scrapbooking supplies from a few years back. Subscribing to your channel because this is the first time I have seen a journal created by gluing scraps together. Looking forward to watching more of your videos for inspiration. Live Aloha 🤙
I love this!!!! I’m waiting the car at the Dr. for a family member and I’m looking at just what is in my car! I can’t wait to construct my pages for my next journal!
Feeling so inspired!! Thanks Meg! I always look forward to your tutorials. You have such an eye for throwing “random” together, and creating “beautiful “! 😀💗
This is absolutely fascinating. I mean, the possibilities are literally endless. All of them are one of kind and each make it's own statement. You can use absolutely anything and everything to create your own message. I love this! I'm saving this video. I've never even heard of junk journals until recently and I am fascinated by this art! 😮...and I'm subscribing! 🙋🏻♀️
Meg this is fantastic, I love 'keeping a journal' and have made several of my own but nothing like this, it is as you say no rules and you have freedom to work in it at will. I will certainly try to create one. Enjoying paper and glue at 71! Thank you. X.
This is awesome, traditional journalling has always been a hobby of mine, but I wanted to incorporate some more creativity. I'll be rummaging through our paper recycling tonight!
Meg, I really love how you constructed the book. Adding the bits and pieces as we go makes for something totally unique, and used up all those tiny bits that often get thrown away! Thank you for such an excellent tutorial 😊🙏
I absolutely love this! I have wanted to try junk journaling but was hesitant because I don’t sew. And honestly was a bit intimidated. This is awesome! Thank you for sharing! ♥️☺️
I'm so glad I've come across your page......I'm making a junk journal for a secret santa (it has a theme) and was panicking I hadn't got time to put it all together (it has to be done for Monday! ) this has inspired me. Thank you x
I love your videos. This was fantastic for the new person wanting to experience junk journaling with free and recycled materials you have around the house. Your demo of a scrappy accordion style journal is perfect! Perfect for kids and adults for just the cost of a glue stick! ❤❤❤❤❤😀
Very interesting. I've never heard of or seen Junk Journalling before, so it's a little ... strange ... to me. But only because it's different and doesn't conform to my preconceived notions of what a journal is. I can see doing something like this, but adapting it so that I can document my D&D campaign, for instance. Sometimes taking detailed notes in a book is very difficult, but I do end up with scraps all over with notes jotted about who did what, who rolled what, and what some NPC said that gave us a ton of lore. I also can see doing this to use up the bits of scrap, pamphlets, brochures, show tickets, and other things that are collected while travelling! Thanks so much!
Thank you Meg for another terrific video. You are my inspiration and have helped me jump in to the junk journaling world😊. Please continue making videos.😉
This looks like a lot of fun and I am anxious to try it out. Could you show what it might look like after you use it as a journal. Do you just use it like normal? I see a lot of these but never one that is actually filled out.
I love this idea, it's a really great way to use up scraps! And you could even make ones that are meant to be tucked inside of bigger journals! What type of gluestick do you use?
i love how it goes against perfectionism. if you have some supplies that are faded, ripped or stained, that might be all the better for junk journaling!
I love this so much but I’m watching again as I’m a bit confused on all the folding. I really want to try this. I love the way you put papers together. At the end do you leave as is to enjoy or do you add more to the pages?? Just love this
IDK I have watched junk journaling videos for years and I think that the genre has changed drastically and now has more say sub divisions like the dewey decimal 600 section of technology which is broken down into subsections like 620 being Engineering and 660 being Chemical technology. I think the 600 of junk journaling is using pure junk like wrappers and stuff. I think there are vintage journals and art journals and glube books that are all under this. Part of why I like pure junk junk journaling is that you don't need to be an artist and know the principles of art or have an art education to do it.
I really want to do this BUT I don’t get it?? How by the end do all the bits look so cohesive?? I am a newbie so this is a bit overwhelming and not obvious, apologies if I sound stupid!
Just remember your eyes don't see what another's will, I am constantly reminding myself that while "hating my art".. Just go for it! And if you don't like it, put it side for a little while, and come back to it, you'll see it with "fresh" eyes 😍 Not an expert, just a person that likes making things, and used to quit half way through lol 💖✌️
Getting back to what a true junk journal was meant to be....use what you have: paper around the house, your pens and paints or any media to decorate and no rules.
Exactly!
I like this comment. I looked into it and suddenly people are selling all these supplies. If I wanted to buy everything I’d go back to scrapbooking
Meg it is wonderful to watch your videos all found material not a digital in site you explain everything so well thank you
Very true...those supplies are New stuff anybody can go to all dollar/ discount stores and buy--plus get more than they are paying. Sad idea for such a fun art play. Never buy " new crap" for trashy junk journals. ♥️‼️♥️

Exactly!! This is what I wanted my comment to sound like but...yeah🤷🏻♀️...
You are so right! It really challenges a creator’s creativity to use what’s on hand.
Thank you. Far too many think they can only do a junk journal from a kit, from having specific supplies, from following the pattern given by others. This journal is lovely, organic, full of life, personal, and enduring. Thank you.
Thanks so much!
My trash grows daily...no reason to buy kits....WHAT?? In two days I can accumulate several pages...it does take ..Thinking!??

So true!
This is gorgeous and I love that it doesn't require complex techniques or expensive sets of crafting supplies. Thank you so much for sharing this 🥺♥️
I was trying to find videos that didn't look super advanced or have a ton of purchased material because I want to try junk journaling and I found your video. It's got me super excited to try to use my existing art supplies! I sew so I'm thinking fabric scraps glued onto the pages could look super cute
I haven’t had much success making true junk journals that I like. This accordion method might be the game changer for me.
They're addictive!

Thanks for the inspiration for my own travel oddities I come back home with!

I like this idea…especially nice to start off with small pages..not so intimidating that way! And you make the collage for each look so easy too!😊
Thank you so much!
Such a fun project!!! Maybe it’s a sign to use up all that junk I’ve been collecting for years 😂
lol, I feel you
I love this!!!! I’m waiting the car at the Dr. for a family member and I’m looking at just what is in my car! I can’t wait to construct my pages for my next journal!
Love love love the accordion style! I am able to use up all my pretty scraps
Yay!
Cool idea! Love the idea of adding the left overs of your other projects as you go!
Thanks for watching!
Very cool I love that ! Greetings from Switzerland 🇨🇭

Love this. I have been saving paper and various ephemera and not having a clue where to begin. Thank you.

I love this journal idea for cleanup!! 😊 I could just create a journal to clear my counter. 😁💙
Haha yes!!
You have a special way of putting things together!! ❤
Thank you so much 😀
I'm late to this particular party but I'm in the process of making one of these. It is so fun to do! Thank you Meg!
I’m going to make one of these! I’ve not done a journal this way before and excited to try it. Thanks for the inspiration!💙

So inspirational! I use my Zentangle in my junk journals plus old letter stickers I have accumulated over the years.
Using Zentangle in junk journals is a fabulous idea!!
A great way to make an easy junk journal. Thanks.
Thanks for watching!!
I really love this design of journal. Thanks for this clear video. So easy and great to look at.
I love this. Also it's fun. It's like a glue book collaged into a junk journal, sort of. Very freeing! Also it's not intimidating at all.
I really like how the stamping looks! Tfs 💕
Thank you!

Thank you. That is a great quick journal and so easy. Thank you for sharing these ideas with all of us. The best to you.
Thanks for sharing. You make journaling look so easy.
Thanks for watching :)
This looks like a lot of fun and I am anxious to try it out. Could you show what it might look like after you use it as a journal. Do you just use it like normal? I see a lot of these but never one that is actually filled out.
My recent journal flip through (from around August) used this format which might give you some ideas! :)
Love this! Thank you for this video-I'm working on one right now. :)
Thanks for watching!!
I absolutely LOVE this method! Thank you! 😊
I love this idea, it's a really great way to use up scraps! And you could even make ones that are meant to be tucked inside of bigger journals! What type of gluestick do you use?
Oh wait, inside journals! That’s such a fun idea 😍 I might have to do that! It’s a pritt stick :)
아주 마음에 들어요😍😍저도 한번해보려구요❤️❤️큰도움이 됐습니다 구독하고갑니다👍
I love this patchwork idea 🥰
i love how it goes against perfectionism. if you have some supplies that are faded, ripped or stained, that might be all the better for junk journaling!
Amazing❤ !
Glad you like it!
I love this so much but I’m watching again as I’m a bit confused on all the folding. I really want to try this. I love the way you put papers together. At the end do you leave as is to enjoy or do you add more to the pages?? Just love this
You can add as many as you'd like - use a thicker paper/card as your last pages to make the cover. A piece of string can tie it up too :)
@@megjournals thank you so much for responding!
Yeah I love this journal !!! Would love to do the same look like 🥰🥰🥰
Thank you!!
That was awesome. It makes me want to attack my pile of scraps NOW!!! 🙏 thank you
so happy to find you
What a joyous endeavor. Terrifically inspiring video! 👏👏👏👏👏😍😍😍
What type of paint were you using when you were stencilling on that but of paper? Was it the pink emulsion paint you were using in the previous shot?
Nice!!
Thanks so much!
How lovely!
SO much fun!!!!!!
What is the corner tool called. Only just found out about Junk Journalling and I am in love! Saw a Facebook group and that is something I would love!
If you search for a ‘corner rounder’ you will see some similar! I think mine is an X cut, had it years and never an issue :)
Hello Meg. This is absolutely beautiful. Just one question… could you add small signatures into some of the page folds in a journal like this?? 🥰💖
Thank you! 🤗 Yes, absolutely - in fact I did that recently here: ua-cam.com/video/B0EVudUTHnk/v-deo.html
@@megjournals Thank you for the link! Another beautiful video! I shall be trying this. I love your ideas Meg xx
This is awesome. 😃👍
Glad you enjoyed!! :)
I can’t wait to try this. So many scraps! What will you come up with next? ChristinesJournals

That's a great way of thinking about it! :) A journal can be anything you want it to be
Sorry if I missed it in the comments…do you have an affiliate link for your favorite “rounding corners cutter”.
If you search for “x cut corner rounder” you should find something similar on Amazon or a shop where you are :)
I have no idea what junk journal is. can we use it as a diary
Course you can!
I really want to do this BUT I don’t get it??
How by the end do all the bits look so cohesive??
I am a newbie so this is a bit overwhelming and not obvious, apologies if I sound stupid!
❤
😉👌👏👏👏
I started junk journaling, but I am not creatively gifted 😩
Just remember your eyes don't see what another's will, I am constantly reminding myself that while "hating my art".. Just go for it! And if you don't like it, put it side for a little while, and come back to it, you'll see it with "fresh" eyes 😍
