@@nickmarsala3787 It wad probably for the best. Teddy believed in the Romanticized style of war like the Splendid Little War that were against the Spanish. His style didn't fit in with the new, gruesome trench style. Teddy sent his 4 sons instead for him and the youngest one Kermit died while fighting as a pilot with the RAF.

It was - and is if you have Netflix - an excellent documentary series but I think they got TR wrong. Notably absent from the otherwise splendid expert talking heads was Edmund Morris whose trilogy of books on Theodore Roosevelt deliver more insight to this complicated figure of supernatural energy and intellect. And while FDR and Eleanor who were included in the series were, by fate, more consequential, they are, sadly, not remotely as interesting as TR, alas. In fairness, though, nobody is 😉

They didn't like that he didn't take orders. But never realized that Roosevelt gave his own orders.
