Max has been the ONLY constant. 1 week, it's Merc at the front. The next, it's MCL , and then every once in a while (rarely these days, but there have been moments), Ferrari pokes their head up out of the weeds. But Max is there every single weekend.

Agree. Max has the gift to maximize his weekends. If the car is not fastest, he'll get the fastest spot he can get. And often more. The other teams have shown they don't always maximize their weekends.
Max didn't maximize in Austria, but that is a very rare thing to see.
And he's always been like that. It's how he won his first championship (Lewis didn't always maximize based on the car. Max did), and he's done it before he had a championship winning car... And when he had it, we all complained about the most boring season and winning all but 3 races that season....

Exactly and also Verstappen is better off McLaren and Mercedes both switching places at the top in the races recently, this means that no one driver or team can start to gain Verstappen that quickly.

Only bad luck in the sense of how much it bottomed on the kerb, looking at Zhou that had pretty much the same error but got away with it because his car bottomed less and his car didn't go directly to the wall, it's still his mistake either way
@@GreatCdn59nah, he will be a champion one day, all champions have had crash happy seasons, look at Verstappen, Vettel, Hamilton, Schumacher, Senna... All of them had either crash heavy seasons or regular crashes over many seasons, Leclerc is no different in that respect and has the same pace when he's on his game and the car allows it
Ikr. How long until the “bad luck” becomes a skill issue which is what I think it is. He’s good but not great. Very overrated.
Don't get how anyone measures anything in FP1/2. Teams sandbag. Teams test with different setups and tyres. It's not a good gauge for placing bets at all. Merc was doing glory runs earlier this year then they would qualify 5-7.
They do for content & entertainment. Speculation is always fun, but probably everyone knows at this point they sandbag but go with the flow.

RBR saved their hard tyres for the race. they will have 2 fresh sets of them. They are clearly thinking that it will be the correct tyre.

@@treapyoney5886 It's natural to expect better driving from the better driver. Plus, Charles spun out of a dry Hungary corner by himself. Sainz spun on a damp Canada chicane in a DRS train

I remember Leclerc in Miami spinning off during Q3 (preventing Max from a good qualification) and being nowhere in the race that .max won (wasn’t it from further back?)

that awkward freeze moment was the worst (or best?) kind of 4th wall braking I've seen in a long time. I just got food and started watching F1 videos, that's usually when the internet breaks down....
I genuinly thought Matt's cam froze, that was impressive LMFAO
about the RB19 vs the RB20, many lap times the pole sitting RB19 would have qualified much further down the grid had it done so this year. So the RB20 is definitely faster considerably, but so has the rest of the grid. In fact, Max's pole lap at Barcelona, wouldn't have even gotten him into Q3 this year. It's not that RB are slower, it's just that people have caught up so much. In fact 23-24 year's jump was MUCH bigger than 22-23.
Honestly, when was the last time Hamilton or Max put it in the wall during practice? I can remember one for Alonso but its a while back for sure

Qualifying could by close but the Red Bull's looked very good during the race sims, both of them.
Red bull are quickest in the race pace, like +0.400 and Perez was the faster car, they showed it before the end of the second practice. It's only practice and we will see what will happen in the qualification and the race.

Crofty was right in saying that Checo was in the way though. Zhou was on a flying lap, he did NOT lose the car "going into" that turn, he was already at corner exit still going full speed when he saw Checo on the racing line right IN FRONT of him. Checo did not "arrive on the scene", he was IN THE WAY. It's obviously hard to say without telemetry, but my guess is Zhou slammed on the brakes when half of his car was still on the curb, which then unsettled the rear to cause a spin. Could the spin have been prevented if it was someone like Verstappen in the car? Maybe, but Checo is definitely to blame here.

Also RB's update requires balancing. Coming Belgium they will fix this I reckon, like last year and then Max will be miles ahead. This is my prediction

it's still largely free in the drivers for him. All the other teams are making too many mistakes to actually catch up

at what point do we say its not just bad luck and hes a driver that has some good moments and mainly crap performances.... hes nevwr actually really proved himself besides the odd win here and there. Not slow at all but one of the most inconsistant drivers on the grid.
I'm not even sure the RBR is a top 3 car right now so if someone takes Checo's seat, it's going to be tough

Perez actually isn't that bad this week, he does not have the new upgrades this week, only Max has them. So 2 tenths isn't bad at all :)

LeClerc crashed oh nothing new then. How'd the driver Ferrari are getting rid of go? You can't expect anything from Perez when the team developed the car away from him and towards Max's unorthodox driving style. The car is undrivable to everyone but Max we have seen it time and time again.
