It could've gone either way. Beterbiev was the agressor in this fight. He dealt more damage, applied more pressure, threw more & harder punches and was less shook than Bivol. Bivol threw far more clean shots. The majority of replays were highlights of Bivol even though Beterbiev in the 11th and rounds before, threw far more destructive punches towards the face and especially the body (which were simply not shown). The 116-112 was unfair though. Both stats given by CompuBox and TnT also showed that Beterbiev edged out the rest of the rounds, punching more, landing more (powershots included) and going off in the Championship Rounds and they're called that for a reason.
The problem is that most Bivol fans were introduced to the sport from the Canelo fight. They don’t really understand how the scoring works and what things can influence the judges, such as constantly backing up your opponent / dictating the action. Also hurting your opponent. Beterbiev won. It was clear.
