Hi Nate, great video! A couple of tips:
    1. If you place a mirror behind the candle or light source you really increase the amount of illumination in the room.
    2. If you’re storing beans, stay away from dried kidney beans. An under-cooked kidney bean is poisonous, and eating as few as 5 raw beans can be fatal. Go for canned kidney beans.
    3. If you do have an off-grid homestead with a well, look into getting a Waterbuck hand operated well pump. It provides a lot of water with very little effort.
    4. For heating an off-grid cabin, I would use a direct vent propane heater rather than a portable propane heater (assuming you’re going to reply on propane). The direct vent models keep all the combustion gases outside and they also don’t pump a lot of moisture (water vapor) into the cabin which can lead to humidity problems and mold in a small space.

The wife and me are on a fixed budget, however this has not stopped us from preparing.
You can get a 50-dollar food dehydrator, buy frozen vegetables they are cheap, nutritional and have already been processed and blanched, blanching is the key here, dehydrate then and vacuum seal them in jars you can get a vacuum jars sealer for about 40-dollars, and these will last for years.

I mean Harbor Freight sells a towable backhoe that is fairly affordable and used skidsteers tend to be affordable. Being able to forge knives will put you ahead with bartering too so it wouldn't be a bad idea to learn to forge bushcraft knives. Another thought on the midrange BOV option could be an old conversion van with a 4wd swap, they aren't very expensive to do yourself and conversion vans are easily converted into campers

Good water is extremely important after a bad earthquake. I was in the SFO in the ‘89 shaker. All the tap water turned into muddy water. The water in the toilet tank is still good as long as you don’t flush. You also need to turn off the inlet water. Also the hot water tank is extremely important. The water inlet must be shut off quickly. Open up a hot water tap to allow air into the top of the tank. Now water can be drained from the bottom. The gas also needs to be turned off.
After a bad quake, there will be those that have water and those that don’t.

Good video Nate Gives a nice spread from low budget to Richy Rich on survival necessitates & force multipliers. Recommended to have redundancy on tools they do fail. Having the knowledge & skills to properly use & repair tools is important. Having the knowledge & skills to improvise in case of no access or loss of tools is just as important if not the more important than having the tool themselves. You can take skills with you, not always the case with tools.

With your tractor, get a backhoe, then get attachments. To pull you dics and plows and other stuff.
Every tractor you get really needs a " PTO SHAFT" In the back. Backhes have that.
An your skid steer can help swap out attachments!
A post hole auger attachment is good to have. You need a bucket and forks ( for pallets or moving stuff.
Recommend DIESEL!!! on all farm equipment. Agriculture diesel is cheaper than at the truckstop. Plus, diesel can set for a very long time and still run. Where gas will give you issues. Then get Multi fuel, fuel injectors. That way ANY oil/ diesel will run in it! Remember to get the fuel additive that prevents diesel from freezing.

Great video! Better than I expected, and very helpful in allowing me to categorize, prioritize, and budget my own survival. I think if you would have given me these price points years ago, I might have not felt so overwhelmed and would have begun spending for these essential items; and would have had more peace of mind thinking about the rest of what these precarious times entail. This was a great community activator video, and was the best of you in each clip. It was so much, I need it as a pdf for reference, because each area is so succinct. Very good video! 👍🏼💯💪🏽

Hey I'm from Germany, i did pressure cooking with my grandma for decades. I made marmalade jam, tomato sauce, I made vegetables, green beans and sauer cucumbers , and fruits. I thought that is totally normal and usually.

Diesel can last more than 5 years and cooking oil is an alternative.

Swiss tech sells a 40 dollar full tang fixed blade made of AUS-8 with a nice canvas handle. Best knife I have ever owned especially for the affordable price under 50 bucks it's a steal. I've been a HAM operator for a decade now and my multiband Kenwood HF radio is a absolute beast. Runs on a solar power system that is independent and self sufficient. I have a laptop running digital RF software as well. With my antenna even at 90 feet above sea level reaches world wide depending on the time of day and the band I'm operating on. No the FCC won't come for you in a shtf situation where you use a radio where your not licensed but the operation of HF radios is a perishable of a skill as shooting is. If you don't practice and know how to operate then it won't help you. Your not going to have time to study your user manual and figure out your radio when the big one hit already. Practice practice practice because training and knowledge built up is just as important as anything else.

Nate, make a video on building an underground bunker say approx upto 500 sq ft. Include a power system with deployable solar panels to recharge power station, air filtration system using a hydroponic fan and carbon filter, lighting, bathroom with cesspit, kitchen and bedrooms. Set a budget of upto $150k and get digging.
Use steel encased in concrete like Colin furze did in his videos of his bunker.
