Rest in peace to one of the greatest guitarists and songwriters of all time. There are so many great hits with Whitesnake you did. Thank you for everything, Bernie. God be with your family, friends, and fans. You are a legend. 🧡
Still simply gutted 🥺💔
@@flippercarlin1657 Me too.
Wonderful to watch and listen to the, now, late, great Bernie. Love hearing something of the Beast's history. RIP Bernie - and thanks for all you gave us.
I once spent about 4 hours with Bernie. I gave him some blues albums and a few days later a big parcel turned up out of the blue. He had sent me a load of stuff inc. CDs and videos he thought I would be interested in. A top top bloke and extremely modest with it. Bernie you will be missed by many.
It upset me to hear that he passed. He always seemed such a gentleman and overall lovely person. Must have been great to have meet him
RIP Bernie!!
This is one of those instruments every owner will know they're just its custodian for a brief moment in history.
That’s exactly how I think of all of mine. Lucky to take care of them
@Gerardo Keaton I like how yall post the initial comment then you always have the follow up comment about how it works! I see these all over UA-cam.
@@smith8281 you and me both. I've had a chance to play a 1960 LP and it was pretty cool just to do so. Even if only for a few minutes. I will say, I still prefer the feel and sound of my modern LP's though.
47 years
@@therollband1290 Great example!
the Stradivarius of Les Pauls .... wonderful
Rest in peace, Bernie. Your music and memory will live on forever…
A humble, charming man and an excellent player. He scored well with the trade for The Beast. Rock on, sir.
Dear God...that tone........that TONE!!!!! That sounds absolutely incredible!!
Bernie Marsden is a hugely underrated guitarist.
Rock in peace. Great man.
At 63 years of age Bernie knows who he is and recognises his talents, contributions and limitations. 'The Beast' deservedly belongs to him.
R.I.P legend. Just heard the news do your passing and wanted to come back to this wholesome video. One of my favorites
Bernie is real British blues-rock treasure. Awesome tone and great playing. To think because he wrote "Here I Go Again" and it got re-recorded by David Coverdale's new lineup of the band and made a mammoth hit, Bernie gets to reap some nice royalties and live a comfy lifestyle surrounded by his favorite guitars, his favorite music and friends. How cool is that?
Pretty dam cool ! I wonder just how much he does make from that song ? ? Ballpark figure anyone??
Let’s not forget “Crying in the Rain,” but I don’t know if Bernie has credit for that tune.
@@johnkk7863 No idea how much, but you got to figure there would've been some serious, and steady mailbox money coming in from that song after all the airplay it has received over the years, and records sold from it.
@@jeffkenny9448 Don't think Bernie recieves anything, as DC bought out Bernie before he re-recorded it.
Thank you Bernie, Rest in peace.
RIP man. I saw a lot of your videos teaching about 59s and 58s Les Pauls. So sad today🤕
RIP Bernie 🙏
I didnt know much about Bernie, but somce he passed I felt compelled to look up some of his works. What a great guy he was! Amazing player, and just someone you could hang with and talk all day. RIP Bernie!
What a thoroughly nice man rest in peace
RIP Bernie Marsden ♥️
Thanks for the music, and the memories, Bernie.
Wonderful Beautiful Tone. Has the "IT" sound every Les Paul owner is looking for. A work of Art.
Not really. I would rather have Mick Mars’ 1972 Norlin Era custom and rig sound from the too fast from love era. These guitars are cool, but not $200,000 cool.
@@peepongdingdong9208 Different strokes for different folks. And this guitar was for sale for 1.3 million bucks before Bernie decided not to sell it. Now he has passed so his wife will probably be selling it in the near future. Having said that, Mick Mars couldn't hold a candle to Bernie and Norlin era Les Pauls suck.
@simonvanderheijden432 the guitar will probably get more now. Thing is, it's just a guitar at the end of the day. The sad part is that Bernie is gone
Cool dude and great player, may he rest in peace.
Sounds good, but does it have coil-splitting and the G-Force tuning system?
no, not even a floyd rose, let alone locking tuners
+Vladimir Kornienko does it have a coin holder on the back?
I don't think so. The guitar IS a coin! )
and a PCB board?
Dood, I would put some emg's in it, a floyd rose and an e tuner
What an amazing story and also the other guitar players that Bernie mentioned as well and the sound is incredible too
Bernie, you’re now up with the great.... RIP pal..
The Beast always sounded Great!
"Bernie & The Beast", a true love story & heavenly match! Thank you for sharing! Rock on...
What an amazing man. Smiled through this whole thing
The Beast.....A well named guitar.....it is savage, you`re a lucky man Mr. Marsden may you have many, many, many more years together..
What a history this guitar has... owned by clapton, then went to Kossof, then Fraser and then Bernie.. truly a beast if they all liked it.
Simply Amazing!!! RIP Bernie…anyone know what amp they used for this video/demo?
The world has lost an amazing guitarist and a great down to earth guy that had a constant sense of cheery humour. R.I.P. BM
So great!!! The man and the guitar!
I had the privilege of interviewing Bernie twice when working as a presenter for local radio station ,the man is a legend and very modest a really gent he told the exact story on air bout the beast
My favorite thing about "The Beast" , "Red Eye", "Greenie" "Black Magic burst" ,"Pearly gates" and a few i am probably
forgetting at this moment is that they all are absolutely Genuine 59' burst's and not just a incredible replica.
Let's face it there are more burst's out there than GIbson actually made! Many are replica's. Yeah incredible ones
but not original's like the Beast and those others i listed. These genuine 59's are really special IMHO.
Simply Beautiful... to see and to hear...
IMO the best sounding Gibson Les Paul ever made
lol, how would you even know that?
Yes it is. I sold my 59' to the late great Mr. Greg Alman in 1983. He and I sat in my basement and played Melissa together while he tried it out. Highlight of my life. Super cool dude too. Back in 83 Les Pauls were going for 3-6k. I have the picture of us framed.

you could have been a millionaire
jaik willis A great sounding led Paul, but I think Gary Moore's Still Got the Blues Les Paul sounds even better.
Thats great tone.
This is how I want to remember Bernie.
So cool to still have it after so long.
That guitar just sounds amazing. I feel very lucky to have seen Bernie play live many many times, even saw him play 'The Beast' with Whitesnake way back in the day.
Lucky fella
Just read his book, which got me to this video, his book is fascinating well worth a read
@@davecarter1047 Yes, I read the book a couple of years ago Dave. Probably time I revisited it though. An interesting and entertaining read. You'll see I have a lot of respect for Bernie's playing if you check out my cover of his 'Fool For Your Loving' solo on my channel. I've tried to do it as faithfully as I could figure it out, and as well as I'm capable of.
God bless you Bernie......Rest in peace brother♥️😓
Rest in Peace Bernie💜🙏🌻🍀🪽
Wow. That truly does sound incredible. The hype is real over those guitars, there's nothing like them. And Bernie was a very worthy owner.
I was there with that guy that brought this Guitar to you.....It was a great night. Hope you remember!! Even Mick looked twice.
sounds beautiful. he's an amazing player, never heard of him before...
Check Whitesnake early recordings.
awesome
Rest In Peace Bernie! ❤
Good Lord! Otherworldly! My eyes teared up a bit. Amazing sound (tone)!
My god everything about this guitar is really beautiful. And you know... Bernie is a good guitarist.
RIP Bernie, the world has lost an amazing man and guiatrist.
A client of mine has a '60 Burst. We know it's the genuine article because my client purchased it in '69 for $300 + a really nice early '60's Tele. I keep it in top shape and it really sounds great. He has a fireproof vault for several of his guitars. It's insured for $750k. It never leaves his lovely home. It's not often you get to see one up close, let alone maintain it. I go to his home to work on it and a dozen other great instruments that he purchased in the early 70's. I love going over there. It's a very special instrument.
Fred Garvin should ask him if it's beano
Makes me think of spinal tap. " Don't even look at it. "
Rest in peace, Bernie. 🤙🏼
This video should be 3 hours long, just Bernie sitting on one note letting it ring!! This guitar, and Bernie, of course, is the reason I stopped setting my neck pickup so close to the strings, I used to adjust it so they just barely missed the strings. Then I saw a vid of Bernie playing the Beast in the neck position and thought "Well, I guess I'm doing it wrong!!" My Les Paul is a little warmer now due to Bernie showing me the right way!!
God bless you Bernie, Rest in Heaven🙏🏼🕊️
Wonderfull playing to! Great feel
Love the tone!
nothing better than that thick, monstrous Les Paul tone. it is so hard for me to put down or put one of these away . i have over two dozen LP's and i know i am crazy for having so many, but i cant be cured.
WOW what a sound that guitar makes!
Aside from superb, unequaled tone, the maple top is stunning! I love the way the flame peaks out at different angles. Definitely my favorite burst and guitarists. I’m happy for you Bernie!
That is one great sounding guitar. The beast is a perfect name.
Unfortunately, I will never get to own or even play one of this category of sublimeness. The tone is out of this world!
R.I.P
Never forget the Marsden Moody time at Whitesnake! Rip Bernie!
Most beautiful guitar EVER!
sooooo killer... :-) thanks for sharing this gem here... rock on Bernie... :-)
Rest in peace, maestro!
I do hope as Bernie has said, that when it does go to someone else, it goes to someone who plays it (as is as it has that sound). It shouldn't be just put up behind glass and never touched again. So much history and much still in it hopefully. Congrats Bernie on an amazing guitar from someone who appreciates them.
This Beast of a guitar just morphed into Beast times the power of 10, after his passing. 🎸💥🤯
Good on you, brother.
Had my Gibson les deluxe since 1984, the best decision I've ever made
The tone on this truly is amazing and of course he mentioned the GREAT Steve Lukather.
Indeed Tony and Steve is not mentioned near enough when speaking about great players in my opinion. Got to meet him at a rehearsal studio here in Vegas with Brian May and Roger from Queen as well as Paul Crook. They were doing a rehearsal for a possible Queen tribute show and was amazing to hear them jam. Actually have the pic of all of them together at the studio as my cover page on FB :) Not only the playing but I was amazed at how incredibly cool and down to earth Steve and all of them were.
MrNitrocat Sounds very cool. I too live in Vegas, was this at Paul's Rock Camp and rehearsal studio?
Tony Marinelli No this was not the rock camp deal. Was a studio a friend owned and another worked at. I just happened to be at the right place at the right time. Had to be back in 2003-'04.
MrNitrocat Very cool!!
Tony Marinelli Steve Lukather is another worthy beneficiary of a '59 Les Paul.
RIP, Bernie. 😢
RIP Bernie. You will be missed. 🙏🏻
Bernie is pure class, as says a friend.
bottomless well of guitar perfection
Bernie....did you play that guitar on Prince Kajuku from the Flying Spacerock with UFO ??
great stories with it!
It's so interesting, such a common model of guitar, that they vary so much. Just wonder what it is that makes it special.
Even listening through the tiny speaker on my phone it sounds huge. Truly depressing knowing that I’d never own a guitar that amazing.
R.I.P. Bernie
R.I.P Bernie !
That is a "Beast"! Bernie certainly has mastered the Lester sound with finesse!
It is what it is..❤❤
Love the finger at 00:33!
Rest In Peace
Rip Bernie😢
RIP Bernie. Sad day 😢
What a class act Bernie is.
Was it the particular year or the old growth Honduras mahogany and the first set of
PAFs that combined together to make it a tone monster.
What a gentleman!
It certainly lives up to its name.
Found Bernie through Rory. Love these treasure hunts.
RIP Bernie
Yes!
And now it's for sale at ATB Guitars. Never tought that Bernie would sell this beauty.
amazing
That is some tasty playing by Bernie. It's a shame the video cut short when BM was playing...
the mojo from that guitar literally beams through the computer screen and my semi-crappy speakers...really special guitar!!
Great stuff. Anyone some idea of what amp Bernie's playing here?
Sounds Like a tweed deluxe to me.They're very vintage marshally, but quiter. He used one in another video w/the beast..
