Dear Kumander Daot. You really are a precious personality. Please continue to be a Kumander Daot in Visayan vernacular. That does not mean that you are crazy (daot ba). But you continue to inspire us Filipinos nationwide by your authenticity as a man and as a human being. You are an inspiration Kumander Daot!!!!
I am going to say this again and again. Your channel gets my respect. I think your subs should be in the 500k range soon and then 1 mil. I am rating you among the many vloggers in the Philippines..and you have awesome information relating to the real people of the Philippines. I rate you #1 for sure. The Philippine tourism board should make you their # 1 blogger in 2022!!!!!! Love your show... UA-cam gives out awards, but the Tourism Dept should start their own awards for the best blogger each year and have votes to help with the challenge... BTW Classic vid, licking the plate. Who in the vlogging world licks a plate? KD, the real vlogger....
Kumander Daot, along with that of Kulas and Finn Snow, is an honest-to-goodness vlog. No pulling-your-leg stuff. Excellent. Highly authentic. Very local and cultural.😀😀😀
Totally agree. You are the top 3 foreign vloggers for me. I'm an avid fan. Truly appreciate your authentic coverages of the interesting spots in the the whole Philippine archipelago. What I like most is how well you interact with the locals in every community you visit, down to the intricacies of lifestyle, foods and the local people itself. Kumander Daot, so admire your adaptability with local dialects...your Visayan is super amazing, that's why you can interact well. Do continue enjoy your explorations and sincere interest for our country. Thru you (including Kulas and Finn), we learn more of our fellow 'kababayans' in the Visayas and Mindanao. Especially, the latter, because many can easily go to Cebu or Iloilo or Baguio or Boracay) as common Filipino tourists, we won't have the luxury of seeing more of those fantastic sites in Mindanao. So thank you, Kumander. 🤗💕👏🇵🇭
Mate - You are really good at this new career. You have the Language, The empathy and you truly love meeting and interacting/reporting. Filipinos see it and so do all your viewers. Last vid with the house in the forest and the preserved area. Keep up the great work.
Next time we are going to Zamboanga City, then it's Basilan! Really exciting stuff coming up - I love this part of the Philippines! As always a reminder to be cautious if you travel in these areas, local coordination is key!
Kabasalan remain to be the number one producer of king crab-the biggest crab in its variety-in the Philippines. And we have the best talaba by far which has a succulent taste and has been recognized by the department of tourism as the juiciest talaba in the country. Aside from seafoods, kabasalan is also the number one producer of natural rubber until now.
wow kabasalan. when my father was working as commissary head, he used to buy rice in kabasalan. also he went there in search for pig, lots of pig for fiesta or xmas/new year celebration and supply for the company's workers. and when he comes home, yah seafoods as pasalubong.
Thanks so much for this sir and continuing to support the people of Mindanao, despite some saying the region is somehow unsafe. I hope to be able to join you one day there.
I’d say, this video is super lovely and interesting! Love prawns and crabs but in a city where I live and everything is very expensive, I can only dream for now. Thanks for sharing another video featuring rich seafood source and where you can eat them fresh, yum yummy . 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Anselm another very interesting video showing how business works .lot of hard work but worth it . Licking your plate is the best complement you can give to who prepares and makes the sauces yum yum
I love when Kulas tells the time of the day like 4am in the morning or 5pm in the afternoon. I believe AM refers to morning and PM to afternoon and evening. While Kumander Daot says it's 6 thirsty when it's time to drink beer. I prefer Daot telling the time. Lol!
Awww seafoods! I'm drooling while watching. Can't really eat those now because of my food allergy. Good thing I had my fill during my younger days. KD you remind me of my nephew. He used to lick plates too hahaha.
Congrats! Another great and interesting video. You're such a good storyteller and your video production is so professional. It's so informative the way you showcase this crab farm. We envy you as you sample those fresh and delicious crabs, locon and talaba. That plate licking is so epic and hilarious. It's so relatable coz my American husband also likes to lick his plate after enjoying a good meal. I consider it a compliment to the chef or cook. Looking forward to the rest of your vlogs in this series. More power to you. Amping kanunay.
Kumander Dapt you're it man!! As they say in Filipino-- " ikaw na"😄 love this video. My brother in- law is from Kanasalan Zamboanga, I'm glad you did a video on seafoods because that's where the good source are coming from ever since and not a lot of people know about it. Stay safe amigo "Hasta la Vista" from Zamboanga City.
Very envious here Anselmo! All my favorites! Giant stone crabs "alimango bato" giant prawns "sugpo" & oysters "talaba"! All very expensive here in California & not fresh at all like that! Still moving! Miss home so much!!
Greetings from Ohio. Anselm, you are a great motivator and inspiration to all. The way you mingle with people is very amazing. Please keep showing the the beauty of Mindanao. From the bottom of my heart - daghang salamat bai.
Thanks kumander for the volg & all the work that gos into them . @@KumanderDaot thank you Sir. I will be going home next year and I hope I can visit Mindanao. Thank you so much for the reply Kumander D!!😘nakaka-happy naman😄
You know what would be interesting too ? Homes in villages on wood poles built up to avoid tides or floods.. How these homes are built up and how they get up and down with elders and just live up on these platform homes for generations. They have to carry things including the grandpa and grandma up the ladder type stairs for years... Not easy.
How do they keep the live crabs fresh? Are those crates being transported in cold trucks? Nice and unique video Kumander D not the usual tour sites but seafood farms and warehouse where you are more interested to learn the business since you have an idle farm right now.
They transport the crabs at night and then they're temperature controlled in the hold of the plane. And they aim to get them to final destination in 2-3 days. Crabs stay alive for about 5-7 days and of course they're used to a tropical environment; you want to deliver them live, so you don't want to put them in cold trucks because they'll die! I am enjoying learning the business side!
I need to add that lady who made the now famous sauce should start mass production soon. I agree, we like to see local people and how they make a living. Very educational.
OMG! That yummy sauce…must have been really good! 🤙🏼 I missed the whole crab and sugpo! We used to get those from the fishermen, my Dad’s clients…Daghang Salamuch for sharing your adventures! God Bless…stay healthy and ayo-ayo! 🙏💕♥️🥂🍾

For seafood, the southern part of Mindanao is among the best places to go to. It’s close to Sulu Sea, which is a rich fishing ground. “caballas” (mackerel) is a daily fare in Zamboanga City. Just grill it and dip it in a mix of soy sauce with kalamansi and chili. Of course from time to time, you can have “curacha” (deep sea lobster). Cook it in Alavar sauce.
