What other studios should we visit? Clear Lake Studios was purchased by World Class Engineer Eric Milos, who took over in 2012. With a complete overhaul, Clear Lake now boasts in Studio A a Trident 80B console with a large selection of outboard equipment, Studio B is a Dolby Certified Atmos Studio with a 9.1.4 PMC Dolby Atmos Speaker Configuration perfect for mixing in Immersive and there two other rooms, Studio C and Studio D!
Radial Engineering products (Made in Canada) Represented!!! I am a Canadian, live sound engineer living in Sarnia, Ontario Canada and I love Radial gear!
Absolutely love Clear Lake Recording Studio. Amazing staff, and all in all amazing humble people. Had two sessions here recently, and will for sure keep coming back.
Loved the studio tour! The discussion on work and business insights towards the end was especially enlightening 👍Would love to see more on studio management intricacies. Great job on the video!
First off…Hello from Ohio! You know why am a follower and love these videos? It takes me out of all the crappy news, political, rants, raves, and complaint videos that are just too much on UA-cam. I watch YouTUbe to get away from network TV and all its commercials…only to find too often that UA-camrs start ranting or their comments do..about negative stuff. Your videos are all very informative, fun to watch, all the hosts have good sense of humor…a pleasure to enjoy. Thank you for all your hard work and please keep the studio tours coming….these are my favorites. Cheers. 🍻
What a fun breakdown of your set up. Thanks for sharing. I always appreciate insights to how others (especially creative professionals) think and operate.
Studio Tours, how perfect. There is a giant Warren-Styled Studionthat might just be right up your alley. It’s in Syracuse New York and it’s Called Moletrax. Named after the guy who pretty well built the whole place himself. Built around a 72-channel Neve VR with TONS of vintage Neve outboard channels and mic pre’s, as well as clones for comparison. Tons of vintage tube mics. Enough hot, live tubes to heat the air up considerably!! One to watch for sure!
Wow that place brings back some memories........ I did a lot of drum Cartage in there back in the mid-90s. I'm trying to remember but did it ever have white formica floors in the main room?......... it's been almost 30 years since I've been there. Great to see it still going strong and looking good 😉👍
Really lovely studio! The gear selection and the instruments, even more so the vibe and the philosophy, and even more than that the people (yes, the knowledgable and hot studio manager, too) - very different from many top flight studios. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻 Thanks for this tour!
Alan Smart compressor on room mics; yay! I love seeing SSL style mix bus comps used during tracking, especially drums, and they're killer on room mics. So far our fav is the Dramastic Audio Obsidian, an amazing mix bus comp but fantastic on room mics. Great tour and studio, thanks, keep it up, you PLAP folks are the best! Cheers!
what a nice looking studio to work in...thank you for the peek i would LOVE a tour of Nightcastle studio in Orlando FL but i bet it would be challenging because it is now owned by Trans-Siberian Orchestra and the O'neill family but it used to be owned (as you may know) by the Morris brothers and was known as Morrissound Studio but TSO bought it to use as their HQ but in any case i do quite enjoy getting these peeks into what is out there...thanks again and be well always
hey guys! I’m looking to upgrade monitors, currently using hs5+sub or BM5A. looking for at least 6.5” budget is about $2500. I can get used 1037B for $2500, should I go for something newer at that price point? I also have a sub I can pair with the new monitors so i’m looking for the most detailed mids and highs at the price point. used monitors preferably
Wonderful walk-through and interview, @@Producelikeapro! There's so much heritage in these spaces and it's quite inspiring to see people carrying the legacy forward. Thanks for all you do.
Haha whatever is spare! I've used a Mackie for that and been very happy to use that! Don't need something expensive for pretty any thing! Creativity rules!
So far one of my funniest stories is one of the singer artists I work with, well worked with, on the way out of one of the sessions turns around and grabs a four pack of Chef Boyardee SpaghettiOs and Mumble something about I got to eat and walks out the door with a four pack of my emergency food.
Fun fact: so many ppl i know skip on the avalon so why is it still that pricy? I mean yes, build like a tank, great heater, love the 24khz…the rest is just for the look? 😮😢

fun observation....Warren always walks around with a guitar pick hidden in his hand.....smile.....good stuff! Make me smile
Haha I don’t though! I think I’m the only guitar player that never has a guitar pick/plectrum! I have to always borrow one haha
Thumps up as soon as the front door was opened
Marvellous! Thanks ever so much

Wonderful DI boxes! Love Radial! Great company
40:37 It’s great to hear Reut at the end. I feel that I didn’t get enough of her vibe throughout the rest of the video.
Absolutely! I asked and Reut wanted Eric, the owner and head engineer to take us through!
🤩🤩 Wow! What a great looking facility. I started engineering in the 80’s and this makes me feel right at home.
😎👍👍

What is this network TV you speak of? Sounds terrible!
Man, if I were anywhere near Clear Lake I'd be begging for any opportunity. What a cool studio and team. Good vibes.
Warren, this was great, especially the talk towards the end about the industry.
Thanks ever so much David!
Great looking studio and a good duo there looking after it all. Great to see, thanks very much
Thanks ever so much Joey!
How cool is it to have Warren show up at your door!
Haha thanks ever so much!
And it’s always a source of pride when we see British in the rack.
Great interview and wonderful tour. Thanks Warren! And thanks Eric for sharing your space with us!
Glad you enjoyed it! Thanks David!
Love the Clear Lake fam 💪
Us too!
Interned at Clearlake/Fever back in 2017/2018 while I was attending SAE .. got to assist ELI the head engineer at the time for about 9 months!
What a fun breakdown of your set up. Thanks for sharing. I always appreciate insights to how others (especially creative professionals) think and operate.
Really nice vibe. So great to see these studios out there- being run by cool & creative people.
Wally Heider was started in San Francisco which is now Hyde Street Studio. You might want to go up there some time Warren and do a tour of it.
Yes, thanks for sharing!

Intoxicating as well as intriguing!
Eric the great!!
Two great Eric’s!!
Use to be called Clear Lake Audio, owned by Brian Levi. I was there in maybe mid 2000 through the Recording Connection Program.

Am I just a hopeless geek for watching the whole thing and hanging on every word?
Haha I hear you! Great fun
yes...but what is the problem with that? 😁 soak up the experience!
Nothing at all!
20:25 Don’t mod the Altec. It’s a piece of history!
Abbey Road modded the Altec's in the '60s!
Nice Studio..and Super Setup ! :)
Good stuff
Thanks ever so much!

Did not know Thor had a recording studio 😂
Doesn't like the SM7?? That mic literally works well for every application! Drums, cymbals, bass cab, guitar cab, vocals, and takes HIGH SPL.
Haha indeed! It is what it is! I hear all kinds of things that are loved by so many and hated by few, it’s ok, it’s what makes the world go around!
Really cool studio
Thanks ever so much
Hi Warren. Could you make a tour of Heritage Guitars in Kalamazoo, Michigan?
That sounds like a marvellous idea
Good chance Crosby, Stills & Nash sang their first album on the 67.
Marvellous! Very true indeed

Frank Zappa used those Carvins but my favorite is the band Harvey Milk.
Using Avalon 737 Sp for Scratch mic ! Man, I could never afford any of this 😞

THAT'S RIGHT! NO SUCH THING AS TOO MANY ERIKs! 😂
Haha indeed!

I was at paramount for 4 years .. and never saw her lol
