Excellent performance! As someone who knows little about musicology but mainly as viewer, I've noticed that musicians stand out not only for their technical skill but also for their ability to express, and even embrace , the emotions and meaning of the music through their body language while performing. ✨💯
The best voice since the last 30 years... a sensa performance and a sensa music from vivaldi
Brilliant. So now I know who Jakub Josef Orlinski first got the inspiration for his barocco videos from!!!
I keep coming back to this post because the opening whistle of the engine and the PA announcement is actually not included in the CD recording. So this is a unique treat, to say nothing of the brilliant video clip.
This is singing, not screaming. This is lightness, not heaviness. These are emotions, not affectation. And we call all the ingredients together: modern singing. The time of bellowing is far, far away from this very moment. We gotta be fresh and new in art. We gotta look forward. And we should sing like birds do, not like cows do. She did amazing. I hope you understand my point of view.
Notwithstanding that this is a stunning video and that Prohaska's voice and acting are superb, I'm not sure about your notion that sopranos of previous generations "bellowed" and "sang like cows."
Oh what a voice and talent....
I love her art! Magnifique 👌✨
Very beautiful voice and unique place to record a musical video. I enjoyed listening and watching this creative work!
classy type of music ....damn ..they were so good back then . and this anna is so good

BRILLIAND CONCEPTION!Mr Andreas Morell make an opera movie with vivaldi's arias!

A true star~! My first "lady crush"! ^^
Hermoso. Bello. Sublime.
una voz de ángel. Sublime!
B R A V I S S I M O ! ! !
impressive!
Precioso!
Yes!
Continuing... Modern singing, I meant modern singing in opera, in my opinion should be based on a great technique - that`s why I said people should sing like birds - with lightness, openess and without false vibrato. It has nothing to do with different kind of voices: you can have low voice and sing in the right place with lightness and sonority! Anyway, I`ve learnt more since the last time I was here and now I can say - I agree with you about Prohaska`s voice. Thanks for a plesant discussion.
I like her timbre
amazing
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Thank you for your opinion. I understand what you meant. Still I am evolving in that branch but your opinion was very constructive, educational and helpful. The ability to project over an orchestra is not sth far away from the moment but sometimes it can be misunderstood. This volume that you talked about is of course highly needed but it must be done without overstraining once voice, it can`t be heavy, it should go towards audience.
desenfadamente alucinante....
BELLA VOZ
great
Alma Oppressa ( Oppressed Soul ) it's supposed to be uncomfortable :) - But i was not talking about your comment, my German it's not that good - I wish Anna releases more videos.Cheers to this vocal Nymph !
👍👏👍
Head turner in a good way
HOW DOES SHE DO THE COLORATURA LIKE THAT???
i fell in love with you anna :)
An almost perfect combination of music and video, instead of the part in the park just walking without singing which visually is a bit of a let down , she should have continued singing in the station perhaps standing on the chair or leaning by a column, then the video would have been as near perfect as the singing is.
Im not saying the idea's not good. It's just that cutting and camera movement create a tension, that is unconfortable... maybe the video needs to be watched several times before it can be fully understood? - Yes, done it, now I like it! ;-)
LOVE THE IDEA ! ( I don't get it why everyone still lives in the past ) We live today.. so what ... shes singing with trains passing by .. it's modern, it's here, get used to it or just go to a fck@ing museaum!
Las cosas cambian, la gente no.
Well, you're very kind and polite. But a few things to note, there is no such thing as "false" vibrato. Vibrato is a natural occurrence. And I completely agree about opera requiring great technique -something I don't find in Prohaska's singing at all.
Don't get me wrong though, this is by no means a good recording of this aria. I find her hit and miss, though only by virtue of questionable repertoire choice. I love her interpretation of Monteverdi and Mozart. I'll take the jaw-shaking of Vivica Genaux's recording of 'Alma Oppressa' over Prohaska any day.
Are you aware that vocal range and vocal size are two completely different things?
Haha I can agree on that Vivica's jaw is all types of effed up but at least she has a consistent air flow and intonation; Prohaska does all types of weird crooning in this. Her Monteverdi and Mozart aren't terrible but I still don't care for the texture of her voice.
Bellatrix Lestrange
You think she has a small voice...check out her range in 'Ah conte, partite'.
How wrong you are.
Onnavolgbaar...
che tamarri
Continuing..
"the time of bellowing is over." As far as I know, Wagner and Verdi are still pretty popular, (much, MUCH more popular than Vivaldi, anyway), so I don't know what your point of reference is (unless this whole narrative about modern singing is entirely in your head). Please don't presume to comment on how I'm living in the past because, apart from my brief opinion on the importance of Prohaska's voice, you really don't know *anything* about my taste in opera
No, because your point of view, I'm afraid, is very, very misguided. There are all types of operatic voices; big and small, high and low, but no one ever "bellows" or "screams;" it's highly troubling that you think volume i.e the ability to project over an orchestra is something "far away from the moment." (especially confusing since this aria is 300 years old- not exactly looking forward).
Disregarding your comment about emotion/vs affectation because I'm certain you don't listen to opera
beautiful voice, but way too small and thin for this kind of repertory....
Better listen to Cecilia Bartoli's perfomance of "Alma Opressa". In comparison to Bartoli's singing Anna Prohaska is singing like Justin Bieber, i must admit.
The Celine dion-style "Ch'io" at 1:11 is sooooo freaking wrong
Totally ridiculous!
...a little ridiculous...
anyways, is that really necessary... such a "pop" video?
husastra I think it’s brilliant
unfortunate conception, small voice... Regreattable!
ughhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
What a small, unimportant voice
