Antonio Vivaldi's "Alma oppressa da sorte crudele" is Licori's aria from the opera "La fida ninfa", RV 714, Act I, Scene 9. Performed by soprano Radoslava Vorgić (Serbia/Germany) and ensemble New Trinity Baroque, directed by Predrag Gosta. This is the recording from the concert performance at the "Operaria" Festival in Novi Sad, presented at the Synagogue in Novi Sad in June of 2019.

Alma oppressa da sorte crudele
pensa invan mitigar il dolore
con amore, ch'è un altro dolor.
Deh raccogli al pensiero le vele,
e se folle non sei, ti dia pena
la catena del piè non del cor.
ENGLISH TRANSLATION:
Soul oppressed by cruel fate
you think in vain to placate the pain
with love, which is but another pain.
I pray thee, gather together in check your thoughts,
and if you are not mad, trouble yourself with
the chain on your foot, not your heart.

As an active recording ensemble, NTB published 10 CDs - the latest one featuring Buxtehude’s cantatas “Membra Jesu Nostri”.
