These guys blow the roof off. Songs written 40+ years ago still hold up to this day and decades to come. Going to red rocks this summer, how cool would it be to see them there!
I still have to listen to them!! Everything they did was magical & I'm sad that so few born after me realize how Blessed to be alive to hear them! l mean, we are able right now to explore music from so many genres & decades.. to understand how incredible this band is!!! I especially adore, as a die hard Romantic who swoons at melodies sung in the perfect voice...ahh...& words like theirs always melt my heart...how could I not LOVE the Zombies! I was born in spring 1969 on a cliff in a rebuilt Hospital after a Tsunami destroyed it... in Crescent City, Del Norte California... Maranatha!❣️😢🙏🏻 🔜📯🎺⤴️🧬🌫️👸🏻🤴🏻👑🎉🥳🐎🎼🎶🌎🌍💞💓 ☺️🥰
10 great songs, and very varied. One (or 2, 3, 4, 5 etc) is missing: "Hung Up on a Dream", closing song on side A on the album. Also "Girl Help Me" (incredible song) and the classic "Can't Make up my Mind" -a Chris White classic! I loved them since I bought "Odessey" (discounted) in 1970.
I grew up in that age of incredible music. . . .and the Zombies were one of the GREAT groups. . .problem is there were so many GREAT groups that many are not remembered . . .but I sure remember them . . .Yo!I did a article on the hot music of the 1960's and found, and this would be not complete, about 75 incredible musical groups just in rock. . .not to mention what was happening in jazz and rhythm and blues.
Many people (especially younger) do not realize how much these groups of this era were way head of their time making ground breaking progress in the music they made. After all that is all there was back then and that is why they are so precious to those who still enjoy them even to day. So go ahead call them Old Fashion, but we know where the roots of today's good rock music came from, show some respect. :)
The instruments and recording methods were not as good sometimes but the songs could touch you, make you wanna dance, sing or even just think about stuff. Good old songs and new songs will do that. I think some are timeless and other songs are just a present fad and fluff which fades with time.
@@taistingtheair1368 totally agree man. Beatles, Stones, Animals, WHO etc...the list goes on..Here's my two cents worth in regards to where the sound, or ,the' Soul of the sound' derived from. African/American people have always stood out musically with a 'sound of their own. I believe that the roots of their sound comes from the utter despair, hopelessness, persecution, depression, etc experienced during slavery, No surprise then that the Blues came to be, and the intricate and sometimes angry sound of Jazz. Both express emotion. In comparison, England had been devastated during WWII by the bombings and a. Depression followed. These musicians had lived through or had been affected hugely by both events. I believe that those events influenced the sound, style, lyrics, and SOUL of the musicians of this era. P.S " fad and fluff which fades with time." Couldnt have said it better.
Love the modal changes in "She's Not There" - listen carefully to the chorus, Rod Argent alternating between major and minor chording every other measure. Subtle but effective!
My favorites are 1. It's alright with me 2. She's not there 3. tell her no 4. time of the season 5. what more can I do 6. summertime 7. I don't want to know 8. sometimes 9. care of cell 44 10. Maybe after he's gone I'm a fan of there first stuff.
Saw these guys in may of this year, the signed tour poster is behind me as i write,i have odessey and oracle on cd.just ordered care of cell 44 reissue on 45 from discogs, because the b side,'maybe after he's gone'is my fave song at the moment
& still out there kicking it in a city near you. My list would be much different but that is what is great about the Zombies, there is such a long list to pick from. Something for everybody. & if you get their latest work, you won't be disappointed. It captures their sound & style perfectly.

Yes, Taylor!! Great comments!! Similar comments have been thrown at The Moody Blues from back then too, who are also Phenominal musicians AND singers/song writers!!! Kudos, Bro!!
I was a HUGE Zombies fan thru the 60s!! She's Not There & Time of the Season are true Masterpieces! I believe She's Not There could be made into a true Heavy Metal Jam for sure!! I believe I'd move Tell Her No up to #3 or 4 on your top 10 list, tho!! Thanks much for this! A # of yrs ago I heard & read several times that the group sorta disbanded & a few members either joined up w/ or started new bands. Is this true?! MetallRockOn, Mates!!! Thanks again much!!!

i love the Zombies so much!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
They were not overlooked or underrated. Most likely when people heard them on the radio, they taught they were The Beatles. They sounded like them. I realized they were not the Beatles after they had been on the radio a couple a years. No doubt they deserve a place on that British Invasion era.
@Thomas Bowen: 'Whenever You're Ready' was a sizable hit in the Providence, RI AM-radio market in the Fall of 1965 - at the same time as The Stones 'Get Off Of My Cloud' and 'Over And Over' by the DC5. It is one of The Zombies great records, IMO - along with 'She's Coming Home'.
The fact of the matter is in every generation for reasons not known, some bands don't make the dizzy heights of there peers, it matters not, there are many fantastic bands around now, but will never be household names, that's life!
The Zombies are playing a worldwide livestream on September 18. veeps.events/TheZombies_YT tickets are only $20. You should see them! They're filming it from Abbey Road Studios in London.Once in a lifetime opportunity!
Rough top 10 in rough order... 1: She's Not There 2: Whenever You're Ready 3: Brief Candles 4: Hung Up On a Dream 5: Leave Me Be 6: Beechwood Park 7: Tell Her No 8: I Want Her She Wants Me 9: Friends of Mine 10: One Day I'll Say Goodbye (song that morphed into 'Maybe After He's Gone')
The best video is the one with blond babe operating the apparatus that transforms David Mccalum from beast back into young scientist as "she's not there" plays
Mine is.............. ''Gotta get a hold of Myself'', I Love You, Sticks and Stones, Woman, I Must Move, Going Out of my Head, Can't Nobody Love You, What More can I Do and, I Remember When I Loved Her.

These guys blow the roof off. Songs written 40+ years ago still hold up to this day and decades to come. Going to red rocks this summer, how cool would it be to see them there!
Truly one of the greatest underated bands ever.
Untrue. There is no universal rating system. People like what they like. Get over it
"Whenever your ready", "Leave me be", "Summertime", expand beyond oddessy and Oracle dude this band is full of treasures.
I still have to listen to them!! Everything they did was magical & I'm sad that so few born after me realize how Blessed to be alive to hear them! l mean, we are able right now to explore music from so many genres & decades.. to understand how incredible this band is!!!

I'm pretty young, got introduced to old classic rock from my uncle.
The instruments and recording methods were not as good sometimes but the songs could touch you, make you wanna dance, sing or even just think about stuff. Good old songs and new songs will do that. I think some are timeless and other songs are just a present fad and fluff which fades with time.

YOU PROBABLY DON'T LIKE IT BUT HUNG UP ON A DREAM IS FAR OUT THE BEST ONE ! THANKS FOR LOVING THAT GREAT BAND ANYWAY...
Tell her no should be a lot higher
One of the best 60´s bands.
They were not overlooked or underrated. Most likely when people heard them on the radio, they taught they were The Beatles. They sounded like them. I realized they were not the Beatles after they had been on the radio a couple a years. No doubt they deserve a place on that British Invasion era.
My top ten includes these:
* Indication.
* Don't cry for me.
* You make me feel good.
Hopefully next year The Zombies get inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame! Fingers crossed for 2019!!!
Julie R what a joke this is!!!
The Zombies are better then 98% of the bands in there.
Call it music Hall of Fame
What a joke!
I’m just rediscovering She’s Not There after barely remembering the song as a child in the 60s
How could "Whenever You're Ready" not be in any Zombie faves list?!
..totally agree...tragically given very little air-play.....a forgotten classic....
Thank you for this

I'm japanese.I like Zombies music.
My favorite song is "She's Not There"&"Summertime".
Lekker terug naar de jaren 60's
Truly underrated, and what a pity that is!
love their rockers.
It's 'Maybe After He's Gone'. I had to look it up since I knew I'd heard it, but couldn't think of the song name. :)
Excelente top me encantan los zombies y eso que solo tengo 18 años soy su fan
Why nobody name 'hung up on a dream' while talking about Zombies?? It Is one of the best song ever!!
Agreed. To put “I want her, she wants me” over that really took some credibility out of this list.
All things considered, not a bad list.
Please vote for The Zombies in the 2018 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame!
The Zombies are playing a worldwide livestream on September 18. veeps.events/TheZombies_YT tickets are only $20. You should see them! They're filming it from Abbey Road Studios in London.Once in a lifetime opportunity!

No question, time of the season is their best track.
they do these songs in their recent concerts
You could make a top 100 list of underrated bands from the past
They have another chance this year to be in the Rock and Roll HOF! Will they say, "This Will Be Our Year" this 2018?
