11:44 Whilst I do agree that one needs to work hard if one wants to reach their goals in life. I wouldn't say that the youth has been put on a pedestal, and even if they are actually put on a pedestal, it's not their own fault. Calling a young person spoiled isn't an insult to the young person, but to the people who raised them. Furthermore, the world is very different today than it was 20 years ago. Everything today is ridiculously expensive and the job market is over-saturated in most areas. Getting an education is super expensive, buying a first home is pretty much impossible until you're maybe 35 and rent prices and unattainable for most. And trying to start your own business is very risky. If the business fails (which happens more often than not) there's no social-net to fall back into in the US, and then you're broke and maybe even homeless.
Nicely said, I know things cannot stay still, but back then jobs was plentiful, I am of an age (when I remember when I left my job on a Friday and by the next week had another )and buying a house was way cheaper, well cheaper in UK. Sadly the youth of today want it now, the high wage and most don’t want to work for a wage which they think they’re entitled to. Haven’t they learn you have to start at the bottom........
@@riannatripp6594 I can't agree. It really depends on the person. Sure there are young people that don't work hard, there are also older people that don't work hard. It's not generational, it's dependant upon the individual. There are probably more young people today working harder and smarter than past generations.
The society that raised them. I agree. However, a little introspection is all one needs and that is the sole responsibility of the individual regardless of who raised them.
I encourage you to think a little hard about your take on youth being unmotivated. You are not old at all, but there is certainly a difference between the world you were raised in and the one that young people find themselves in. Someone else commented this, but how can a young person be responsible for this, is it not the responsibility of the parents or people who raised that person, who have shaped the world into what it is today? I don't doubt that you and your family hustle, but that same kind of hustle could yield half the results for many people. Things as simple as college or entry level jobs are not as accessible for many as they once were. As a smart, open person I encourage you to develop some nuance in your take, or at least to explain better your thoughts.
I think there are a lot of entry level jobs, it feels like the Youngers don't want to start at "entry". Heck you may need two entry level jobs to get going and pay the bills. It is hard to grow at anything, save for a car, education, start up, new apartment, new house. Most parents had to do that too, entry is called that because that is where you start (unless you get a lucky break or your parents know someone that can get you in a little higher up the chain). There is not that much difference when you really look at it. I worked two jobs when I was starting out because I had expensive taste and the first career job didn't pay enough to buy the clothes and the car and the apartment. Think positive, the universe will respond.
@@melaniesimpson9534 The cost of living has continuously increased while wages haven't. The dollar today isn't what it used to be. A Bachelors's degree isn't what it used to be. @@TristanDuverglas Yes totally agree your minimum wage needs to increase substantially. I think Joe Biden is trying to do that (Bernie Sanders). This is where your vote really counts.
Young adults leaving school & college are struggling to find 'entry level' jobs, because they are competing with of older adults, who are either retraining and re-joining the career market at entry level. Or they have been made redundant and taking the low skill/experience jobs that young adults would have traditionally taken. Add in inflation so cost of housing, travel food etc has increased. And let's be honest, bwhen you're in you're 20's the priority is it drink, look good, travel and party (well it was for me). I was stoney broke until i was 28 when I finally found a management level professional role. I completely understand why young people are fed up about their career & job prospects in 2021.

That bugged me too. You can't speak for a whole generation and honestly today's youth have a big task ahead of them, fixing the mistakes of our past. They need support, not disparagement.
I think the difference between the past generation and this generation now is that we are trying to CHANGE the system then struggle through the system that doesn’t support anymore.
Exactly, life shouldn't be about struggling and surviving, it should be about living. The current system in the US traps you. It's a country where one little misfortune can ruin your entire life. If you try and start your own business and fail, there's not support system to catch you. You'll go broke and maybe even end up on the street. Or if you get sick for an extended period and can't work, once again no support system. Or if you need hospital care, once again, huge bills and no support system.
