I’m a bit surprised that London was never on the list.
I believe it was an oversight...
London be tiny bro
StarsReminiscent I know I’m just surprised it was never on the list at all
Would have been prior to 1950
Tbh, so was I, but I guess we just underestimated the population of big asian cities. 😅😅
One part of your statistics is metropolitan area population, another is city population, dafuq, mate? Moscow has 12 mil indeed but metropolitan area has 20 mil.
if Tokyo has 37 mil, Chongqing should have 30mil
Yes the data is simply not right
Jhon Krasnovskiy New York City has only 9 mil. LA has 3 or 4 million. This is metropolitan
Sao Paulo has 14 mil, Sao Paulo Metropolitan Area has 21
Yup...seoul isnt even on the list. City 10m, metro 25m
New York 1950: We're Number 1!
Tokyo: 私のビールを持ってて
I don't know what you've written in Japanese...but I'm certain it is something like "Omae wa mo shindeiru" ..? 😂
NYC is still the best 🇺🇸🇺🇸🗽🗽🔥🔥

Delhi figures include Delhi, Gurugram, Noida, Ghaziabad, etc. What you should do is also include population density. Dhaka and Tokyo are the most densly populated city.
And Faridabad*
It is still one of most populated .look at the population density 11000 people per km square which is largest .not even Chinese capital comes closer to this.. crazy
@@7_years_and_ Look Density in Kowloon (Hong Kong) and Manilla
@@guillaumedescargues1882 those have far better infrastructure than delhi .delhi a capital has 17 million people and still growing fast each year while manila just 1.7 million . If you google top most polluted cities in the world you will find more than half from india . Honk Kong with far superior infrastructure and got less air pollution than delhi have only 7000 people per km square . India needs to reduce population or else every most polluted cities in the world would be from india by 2025
@@7_years_and_ Delhi is more a like a state it has many cities on it . New Delhi is one of them and it's the capital of India.

Tokyo 1962 - 18M
All Kazakhstan 2019 -18M
bauka alimgazy
Tokyo 1993: 33 million
All of Canada 2020 (the second biggest Country in the world): 32 million
Data is kind of wrong. Mainly because the definition of a city differs from a source to another, some use urban areas and other stop at administrative boundaries. Using urban areas make more sense, I suggest looking at "Demographia
- World Urban Areas", according to which in 2018 the largest urban areas are:
1. Tokyo - 38M
2. Jakarta - 32M
3. Delhi - 27M
4. Manila - 24M
5. Seoul - 24M
i think it it metro areas because if it isnt jakarta shouldnt be there but Jabodetabek which is the name for jakarta metro area could be
Yeah. I was thinking about that. São Paulo has a population about 12M. The data in this video actualy includes some other close cities that combined are called "Great São Paulo".
I thought so. I couldn’t find London
Where's Shanghai and Chongqing on this?
México City has 25M :)
I'm surprised London isn't there
Matt Crawley Yes, it should be
why? the population isnt even 10 million
China: I'd like to register 3 cities in the list Thank you
Same with india
India be like make that 4
This would have been more interesting if it had started say pre-WW2 to show the populations fluctuating from displacement, conscription, etc.
Seoul should be there if Osaka is there (as the range of suburban is included). The population of city itself is (Osaka 2.7 million, and Seoul is 9.8 million) and even if suburban is included (Osaka is 8.8 million by 2022. November (it is called "Osaka-bu"), However, if you extend the range more, it reaches 22 million (called" Osaka metropolitan area). With the same logic, if you include the suburban of Seoul (it is called "Seoul metropolitan area"), it is over 25 million (25,925,799 in 2019), which is even bigger. I don't know what stats you are using but it seems you should apply the same standard at lesat.
You can clearly see Rio de Janeiro's population growth slowing down after the capital is moved to Brasilia. Also the fast industrialization of Sao Paulo and its metropolis
What a great concept for a channel!
I never saw yt channel growing so rapidly.good work guys
And then they stopped making videos for now. It's been a while since they uploaded the last video.
Either the title of the video is wrong or the data set is not on a level playing field for all the places listed. How does Paris make the list without London in it. Why does Lagos take so much time to show up (an urban that's already estimated to be more than 20 million since around 2014 and may be 88million by 2095 to become the most occupied agglomeration by the time)
Very interesting video on city population. Can you please make some educational video on how/where to take the data feed and create such Video analysis.
New York has 8 million inhabitants and Moscow 12,5 Million.
But for New York you counted here the Metropolitan area....
12.5 not 12,5
Mexico City from the Center
Sao Paulo from the South
NYC from the North
Those are the capitals of the Western Hemisphere
Cool name
@Pozaux But comment still exist Wow
someone please tell me what's the music name ?
What definition was used here? I noticed there is no London but Paris is there, even though the two cities are of similar sizes
Anyone an idea whats the name of this song is?
When I go to NYC it feels massive. But its only like the 8th most populated city right now. So I can't imagine what it's like to be in these other cities which greatly eclipse NY in terms of population.
I am trying to get population data by cities in Sweden. Any idea where I can get this?
I think this refers to the NCR (National Capital Region) not just the Capital Delhi
Bc delhi ek city nhi h pura bdta hi jara h up haryane me ghus ke
@@adad2524 😆 Haryana se Gudgaav & Faridabad le lia..UP se Noida & Gaziabaad
Don't believe this, clearly not correct.

WHAT SONG IS THIS
What's the name of this music
Delhi: appears
Tokyo: なぜビス音楽が聞こえますか?
Buenos Aires is wrong. The city have actually 2,5M people. You took data from Buenos Aires province, wich is not a city and is a lot bigger.
Why do you include megapolis and metropolitan cities?
São Paulo: Yeahhh Im 4° Now
Aleatory City: ???? You're 5° City
BRASIL CARAI >:D
How was the projections up to 2035 made?
Increasing Population in Delhi...
Reason: Migrants, looking for better quality of life, leaving all the fields and villages
cool.
btw, it would be better to show this info "extended to the year 2035 based on UN World Urbanization projections" in video.
not only on description.
Anyone here from d Delhi ?😭
Not even 2m people living in London in the 1950's???
magburner Nooo, Britain forgot how to fuck. 😂😂, only migrants are leading
In reality then in London was 8.1 million this is just wrong data
Also berlin Not included with 3 million People in 1950
London have more than 2 million before 1900.It was biggest city in the world until 1925
Its almost like a world war took place 5 years prior
It's good to be skeptical of these presentations because the quality of data and comparisons between data can be lacking. In this case it's a mix between different measurement standards which skews the picture. I've seen similar errors elsewhere on other comparison videos.
I didn't read the whole title at first so when the video reached 2020 it felt kinda funny
What is the name music?
Since then, Dr. Whoo changed his name and there was no more intro
This data doesn't match any other internet findings. How is it being assimilated?
Everyone is gangsta
Until Dhaka comes
Guangzhou has had more than 30M ppl since 2000s
In 2018 Karachi had 23 million people.... even more in 2019
And the life expectancy in large a metropolis is significantly less in years than less industrialised areas.
in 2020 the biggest metropolitan areas are:
-Pearl river Delta (Hong Kong, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Foshan...) with more than 52 millions people in urbanized area
-Jakarta with 40millions,
-Tokyo with 36 millions
-Shanghai with 32 millions
Delhi !!! Really here are way too many people here
Let me nuke delhi
Make one about states
My sweet home Chicago never made the list the whole time.
You were number 8 in 1950. This list is just pretty shit, London for instance was in place 2 at the time.
This map is incorrect because Los Angeles has a bigger population that New York.
New York, New York, it's a hell of a town. And while the Bronx is up, well I'm Brooklyn down.
Glitch in the matrix at 02:24.
What is the music?

I just busy with the left side little bit shocked when saw 2032 on the right :))
That's my Jakarta
Ok but Karachi Currently has 20 million + people, The 2017 census did not count everyone living in Karachi and also missed areas.
Update this, add population density on the right side of every country chart.
Ya somos un chingo!!!
Tokyo has a population of only 13 million, including the Metropolitan Association, and only 36 million. Japan includes the Metropolitan Association, and Seoul has a population of 26 million.
Karachi is nearly 28M ~ 32M.
Data is wrong. Delhi includes New Delhi+Old Delhi+Gurugram+Noida+Others, while Mumbai, Kolkata, Bangalore etc are just the city without their satellite towns. If you add them too, Mumbai would be topping the list.
there is no way any city in the world can hold 50 mil people.
Well China is planning to soo...
@@Alistana wdym the Chinese population is decreasing
@@tebourbi I mean that they are planning to merge cities around Bejing to make one mega city something like that

This is wrong. The city of Rio de Janeiro does not even have 7 million inhabitants in 2019.
Exactly. I guess he got the date for the whole state, since the city and the state have the same name.
In 1952 the following european towns had more inhabitants than Delhi:
Berlin, Barcelona, Budapest, Hamburg, Madrid, Rome, Vienna (And Paris had much less than 6,4 mio).
Of cause they would soon disappear from the ranking, but at the beginning they should be in the list.
Is there a reason why you have left London out? 🤦♂️
Our whole country is the second largest by land area but only 35M all together. Tokyo alone can replace our beloved country of Canada.
It's Trudeau's fault why more people don't want to live there
you should say "municipalities" not cities. Either that or count the whole metro areas
Tokyo's population starts decreasing in 2020 and by 2035 the population drops by 1.5 million people.. Godzilla?
İstanbul metroplitan are nowadays 20 million and nearly 2-3 cities between 500000-1 m population
I Love Brazil 🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷
USA: Newyork in the top
Niko: What? Let's go boling libery york
I would only use the population who really live in the city, and not in the entire metropolitan area...
Tokyo 37 million in 2015… Is this something wrong with that stats?
how do one compute the deceasing of population in future years

Hello all knowing Data-Owl.. I know you, so please explain wether you looked in the future for the future-data, or wether it was just by continuing the same number of birth/deaths from now over a prelonged period of time. This is really interesting to know. Because if you looked into the future, then I know this will happen, if you just crunched one or two numbers, I'm pretty sure this is not correct. Many factors play into population.. not just the amount of people and how often they make sweet unprotected love.
And Seoul?
I don't understand why anyone would want to move to such large cities
💟Beautiful and More!‼️
It's 2035?
Oh it’s right about my city Dhaka 🇧🇩🇧🇩🇧🇩
Little bit surprised that New York was on the list at all
Seoul?

36 million in future Tokyo is almost the whole state of California today fit into one city.
