Did you notice how Chris DeGarmo flawlessly took over the lead vocal while Geoff did the belting part towards the end? They were such a good combo. It often gets overlooked.
Thanks so much for sharing🥰
the whole band was ridiculous , just killer
He took lessons with the Maestro as well, and is one of the most unsung of the great musicians out of Seattle.
Roads to Madness I believe will display Geoff's true range and display of emotion through song. His power and range was ridiculous in this song. Thank you!
Thanks for the recommendation
Queen of the reich is an other option
My favorite Queensryche song is Roads to Madness, plus The Warning is my fav album of theirs.
I agree!
Geoff Tate truly has a phenomenally rare voice for metal! Queensryche was one of 6 metal bands who were in Moscow in '91 for 1.6 million fans with annual Monsters of Rock world tour! Look up historic videos to enjoy!
Thanks for sharing
Queensryche wasn't at this one. It was metallica ac dc pantera and the black crows
@@rushfan5563 You're right: Huey Lewis and the News replaced Queensryche and opened concert with their hit Back in Time from Back to the Future.
@@rushfan5563 Michael J. Fox guest-starred with the guitar solo!
A Russkie army guard yelled: "Great Scott?!"
This is one of the most underrated, MTV unplugged sessions, every song was amazing. Great reaction.
🥰🥰🥰
IMO Queensryche had the best MTV Unplugged session of all the bands featured.
🥰😍🥰
Yes. I love “ Lady Wore Black”
And Della Brown.
Yes I agree indubitably! The masses say it was Nirvana, but I think Queensryche blows them out of the water.
10,000 Maniacs was pretty awesome...
Wish the original lineup would've stayed together. They had lightning in a bottle for a period of time
🥰
"Someone Else?" Is best ballads of them
Thanks for sharing
Yea the combination of deep lyrics with acoustic piano and also Tate's firm and soulful vocals is always amaze me
I agree but the piano version. The full band was not fully there, and the band knew it. That is why Chris sat down at the piano and made it that much better.
You'll be surprised to learn that he's actually a baritone with a great high mix extension which allowed for a huge range.
Thanks for sharing👌
I saw Queensryche LIVE at the Warfield Theater in San Francisco about 10 years ago. Before doing their newer hits in the second half of the concert, they did the entire 'OPERATION MINDCRIME' concept album in it's entirety, with all the acting and effects. It was probably one of the best performances I have ever witnessed. Check out the concept 'rock opera' for yourself some day. The sequel 'Mindcrime2' wasn't as good, but it did have an epic vocal battle between 'good guy' Geoff Tate and the 'villian' played by non other than Ronny James Dio.
Hold on... Queensryche played 'Operation: Mindcrime' in entirety way back in 2006... about 20 years ago,
Geoff Tate was fired in 2012 from Queensryche about 12 yrs ago... So, if u saw them 10 yrs ago, it was Geoff Tate solo... not Queensryche the band.
Thanks for sharing🌺
Queensryche beautiful beautiful Queensryche, one of the best bands of all time. My UA-cam Profile Picture is a Queensryche album ironically. ❤️🔥
Oh thanks so much sharing🥰🥰🥰
YES! Geoff has a BEAUTIFUL voice, and so do YOU!
Geoff has complete control over his voice at all times. I've seen Queensryche live and met all of them many times, and each time was beyond memorable. BEST live shows I've ever seen!.
It's understandable to think he's a tenor, but he is actually a baritone! He has gorgeous warmth and resonance in his lower register. But he has really extended his upper range pretty darn high. Other vocal coaches have agreed after hearing a few songs that he is indeed a baritone. As he's gotten older, his speaking voice is quite low too. Geoff has had some classical training, and his aunt sang opera. No surprise there! To hear some of his lower side, check out "The Thin Line". Either the live performance or studio. And you've already reacted to their ballad, "Silent Lucidity", in which he is singing more in his lower range. If youd like to hear another insanely high song from their early days, listen to "Queen of the Reich" live in Tokyo 1984 (from the same show as "Take Hold of the Flame".).
Also in "The Killing Words" from the same MTV Unplugged , that "I Will Remember" was from. Geoff does a very intense, but controlled belt after the guitar solo. So good!
Someone else in the comments meantioned "Roads to Madness" from their first album. A longish song that really shows Geoff at his most expressive.
Its an intriguing song lyrically too. I think it's about a man who wants to know what happens after death so much that he kills himself, and then is having second thoughts as he awaits the "grand transition".
There are just SO many great songs by this original lineup of QR! The whole concept album, "Operation: Mindcrime" is also a must! Quite complicated, and sonically diverse. Also,
I think you'd really like "Another Rainy Night" and "Anybody Listening?" Even if you don't react to any of them, I hope you listen to more QR songs. You may not become obsessed like me, but you'll certainly appreciate Geoff and the talent every one of the band members has!
Thank you for you great comments and observations! I always love listening to such knowledgeable professionals like yourself.
Hope to hear more QR reactions from you!
P.S. Sorry, I always write too much!
Many thanks for sharing all of these, much appreciated🌺🌺🌺
Geoff is actually a baritone, he just has an incredible range.
😍😍😍
I still remember...
The time when Queensryche performed this on MTV Unplugged.
At the very first time on TV.
Yes...
I'm an very old bean ^^
I couldn't believe what I saw.
And how great they was this time.
The whole lineup.
Everybody was just amazing.
Good old times.
And after all this years...
A tear rolling down out of my eyes.
I love Geoff Tates voice.❤️
I'm happy you liked this one.
Great reaction!
Well done 👍
I'm pretty sure I saw one tear in your eye....🥰
Thanks so much for sharing🥰
Chilling!!! 🎶 You have chosen a great song, there are two more off this CD, " Killing Words" and "London". Yet again this is thee GREATEST band off all time with this lineup. 🤘🎶
Many thanks for sharing💕
The best voice in Rock. didnt even let loose on this song. Check out more, Silent Lucidity,
She already reacted to Silent Lucidity
silent lucidity can't hold a candle to The Whisper
@@automachinehead Ahhh, "The Whisper". A GREAT song that gives you so many textures of sound, and a rich mix of high and low vocals! And I love "Silent Lucidity" TOO, but in a totally different way.
Thanks for the recommendation
Tippy top of the mountain in metal vocals, omg, and he hit it live night after night, near perfect live.
🥰
Absolutly love Queensryche.
🥰🥰🥰
You need to check out "Someone Else" and "Eyes of Stranger".
Thanks for the recimmendations
You have to give Road to Madness by Queensryche a listen. Great early vocals by Geoff
Thanks for the recommendation
Nice, the original Queensryche was dope, they could excel, whether unplugged or in full electric power and glory mode. For me, one of the best 80s bands and they were neither thrash or a hair band, who became dominant rock genres later in the decade. Queensryche to us was a 70s band at heart with an updated sound for 80s fans but with a unique band identity, with a great vocalist and crack, double guitar lineup, they have plenty of tunes to listen to and/or watch. As others will mention, do Roads to Madness, one of their best epics and Geoff really gets to stretch out as always. Enjoy! 🎵🎸🎤🎸🎶
Thanks for sharing and for the recommendation
Your reviews are so refreshing in that as a young classically trained musician you appreciate other forms of your art and seeing your reactions give this older soul such joy. Keep doing what you're doing and keep an open mind. There is so much beauty out there. I wish you well on your journey.
Oh thanks so much for your kind appreciation🌺
A truly great band that got steamrolled when grunge took over. Another song of theirs you might like is "Is There Anybody Listening?" off of "Empire", the same album that "Silent Lucidity" is off of. They were really peaking around the time of "Operation:Mindcrime" and "Empire".
Many thanks for the recommendation
Great review! Your expressions are similar to my wife's when I made her listen Queensrÿche's "Roads to Madness" for the very first time... she told me then "I've just felt in love with that voice"! I became jelous instanctly... LOL! Thank you and I insist: only your vocals at the begining makes the video worth it!
Oh thanks so much for always being nice and for your kind words. Thanks for sharing too🥰
I like
How you describe his voice....
Very nice 😁😁
Thanks so much🥰
Great reaction!
This was an incredible preformance unplugged from queensryche.
The whole set was amazing. Geoff acually has a very low speaking voice
and you can hear it all the time when he sings. The low voice is there for a millisec
in the beginning of words throughout the song.
Be safe
Thanks for the info and for sharing, be safe too
Musicians Are Flawless As Well
🥰
Good day you beautiful young woman and thank you for such an under reacted band. Guess you figured out I’m a huge fan of Queensryche. They were one of my top 5 bands back then (Megadeth, Metallica, Def Leopard and KISS) They, in my opinion, never got the full acknowledgment they deserved back then so it really touches me to see younger generations give them props. Again thank you🤘🏻🔥💥🙏🏻💯
Thank you very much too for sharing🥰
Geoff Tate is actually a Baritone with absolutely incredible talent and skill! 👍🏼💯
🥰🥰🥰
Great reaction and thank you for appreciating this man. He is truly one of the greats in my opinion, but somehow, he is not appreciated enough. I will be seeing him live in a few weeks and am so looking forward towards it. Thank again :)
Many thanks for sharing, nice that you will be seeing him live🥰
Great reaction to this great song!! Thanks for doing this recommendation!!
Thank you too🥰
You chose a good one here, Aaliyah, and did a great job describing him and the instrumental work too.
Thanks so much 🥰
My favorite is Queensryche I Dream in Infrared. remastered off the album.
Thanks for sharing💕
I’m so glad someone finally reacted to this song and this version. Everyone reacts to Silent Lucidity or other songs from this set but I believe this song really highlights his range and vocal talent more than the others.
🥰🥰🥰
I love seeing a new generation exposed to Geoff and the band! Subbed.
Thanks for your support
So glad that you reacted to this one!
Thanks for watching too
Great song choice. Love Queensryche, but I don't see enough reactions to this song. Thank you! Della Brown is great too, along with so many metal/rock tunes. Hope to see more.
Thanks for sharing💕
❤ Queensryche
🥰
@@AaliyahCapili > I saw them live in '94
They were Awesome 🤟😎🤟
Tate doesn't just sing, he takes you on a roller coaster ride with his ability to inject emotions into his vocals. I recommend you listen to the album Operation Mindcrime in its entirety. You feel all his emotions throughout the album. I also like to recommend Child of Fire.
Thanks for sharing🌺
*Nice unplugged version*
Thanks so much
@@AaliyahCapili yes
Geoff Tate was one of my favorite singers from that era... This 1992 'MTV Unplugged' set was never released officially, but it captured the subtle side of Queensryche... and their 1994 album 'Promised Land' was a dark, mostly acoustic record.
It's a pity that the original Queensryche disintegrated and Geoff Tate, whose vocals were not the best in later years, was fired in 2012... but Queensryche has Todd LaTorre on vocals now and on tour this spring... Geoff Tate is also touring solo this spring as well.
Thanks for sharing
You would love "Della Brown " from the same performance.
Many thanks for sharing
What a fantastic choice, I LOVE this song SO much. It's one of my all time favourite 'ballads'. I love it even more than I love Silent Lucidity. Make sure you check out the original studio version, and that entire album, 'Rage For Order'. Fantastic, underrated album. If you want to check out more Queensryche, you MUST do 'Suite Sister Mary', if you haven't already. Epic track, one of Geoff's best vocals, and you get the added bonus of the SUPERB singing of Pamela Moore on that one...
Many thanks for sharing
Great song off of an amazing album.
🥰
Loved Geoff at this time. It wasn’t about hitting the really high notes. He just sang beautifully.
Geoff. Never failed live etc…..a wide range, power, vibrato with power, clean etc…..live? No issue. I knew years ago that…he has classic training and…yes he did.
Thanks for sharing
Another great one is take hold of the flame
🥰
❤
🥰
Great stuff. Scott Rockinfiend was my inspiration to play drums back in college days.
Thanks for sharing
Luciano Pavarotti loved this band , he was a big fan, Would go to the shows

Thanks sp much🥰
Bravo! this is such a great voice. Thanck you!
🥰🥰🥰
I saw Queensryche 2 times live before Geoff goin insane and he left the band...one of the 4 best heavy metal singers ever!
Thanks for sharing
Queensryche is just a great band all musicians are above great 👍 and Tate's voice is the Cherry topper
😍😍😍
Tate was untouchable in his prime. I was lucky enough to see them in the 80's as openers, although they blew all the headliners out of the water in my opinion. I remember hearing this in 1986 as a junior in HS. This album is still my favorite QR to date!
Thanks for sharing
guitarist chris de garmo also has a great voice
🥰🥰🥰
Geoff Tate and Queensryche sort of bridged the gap in Seattle rock in the 80's between Heart and what would become grunge. Yes Quarterflash from Portland had a big hit and some others. That said, Geoff was so popular that every singer was trying to somehow emulate him. Those young singers in the Seattle area became known as the "Tater Tots" playing off his last name.
Thanks for sharing
Great choice 👍🏻
Thank you🥰
I can’t watch this performance (and I’ve been watching it periodically for over 30 years…lol) WITHOUT noticing Chris jumping vocal parts at the end. He’s never gotten enough credit for his vocal ability…
Thanks so much for sharing🌺
Listen to the live in Tokyo Take hold of the Flame he hits a E/5 twice
Thanks for the recommendation
Try their song "someone else" just piano and geoff
Thanks for the recommendation
Thanks for the great voice. Very pleasing to the ear ! I'm guessing you are great at singing "Time to say goodbye".
Thanks so much🥰
Great 👍 In addition to the rock singers I listed on a previous post 📫 (Geoffrey Tate, Ann Wilson, Nancy Wilson, et al), the late David Kyle coached Marilyn Horne and Frederica von Stade, who moved to my hometown area , the San Francisco Bay Area 🌉.

Hello Aaliyah, I was a Rock Musician for years but I was never into the band but they had a couple of good songs
Oh thanks so much for sharing
It was 1986 predicting 2006, 2016, and probably 2026. Anyway, keep up the great work.

It caught you by surprise that Geoff can sing high ? I thought you already reacted to "take hold of the flame" that's the same singer ... by the way he's a baritone .
Thanks for sharing
Recommendation, "SOMEONE ELSE"
Thanks for the recommendation
Baritone actually classically trained why can get super high like he does very rare for Heavy Metal
Many thanks for sharing
I believe he's actually a baritone, but I'm no expert. It's more difficult to extend your range down than up. There are many baritones w/ high ranges like Dimash (He's an exception, so I can't say for sure), Rob Halford, and Bruce Dickenson. Listen for the resonance/richness down lower and that will help. Does the lower or higher register sound more full/rich. (See Silent Lucidity). I've heard vocal coaches agree w/ that assessment for those artists as likely the case.
I’ve also heard Geoff mainly described as a baritone as well.
Many thanks for sharing
Believe it or not Geoff is actually a baritone
🥰🥰🥰
1. Great take on it ! You get it... 2. Rage for Order was sooo far ahead. Imagine Dracula meeting the internet. Gothic meets the future. Which one do we choose ? By the way, I'm guessing you sing "The Phantom" really well.
Thanks for taking the time to share🌺

Rage for Order > than everything else

Out of all the singers you have had on your channel which one would you say does the most difficult vocal techniques based on your expertise?
I think it hard to pick one because of the the different genres. Also a lot of singers do similar techniques however the techniques varies with the genres too.
But in general I think any metal screams is hard or reaching high notes/belts🌺
If I remember correctly, Geoff is a classical trained vocalist.
Thanks for sharing
FYI Geoff Tate is a Baritone.
Thanks for sharing👌
Not bad for only being able to afford 9 lessons. From the one known as The Moestro.

Thanks again for sharing the information💕
It's a song about the future. 1986 predicting credit cards, war, and the computer taking over our lives. Cell phones anyone ? Social media? Are we human anymore? Or just thumbs on a keyboard?
Thanks so much for sharing🌺
He actually is a Bass

@AaliyahCapili you're welcome I'm a day 1 Queensryche fan from the early 1980s. You really want to hear his full vocal range listen to...Queensryche Road to Madness. It's on The Warning album. Geoff Tate was classically trained in opera.
Tate is a Baritone.
Thanks for sharing
Isn't he a baritone instead? Tenor is way too up there.

Music has a flow, And when you stop to much or for to long, You kill the flow. Kill The Flow, Kill The Music.. As a "Singer" You more then most shod know this. Your only hurting the band. SHAME ON THE MESS. AND SHAME ON YOU !.
🌺
He is barritone. He has deeper and darker voice in 80's interview than tenors. I asked him myself on instagram and he said barritone.
