I have a friend that's a Messianic Jew and he's a really nice guy. I'm a Christian, but Messianic Jews are related to me in Christ. We need to stop calling Resurrection Sunday "Easter". My church has a seder.

Surprisingly enough, as a Greek Orthodox Christian, I can attest that Easter is not found within the religious vocabulary. We use the word Πάσχα which actually means Passover in Greek. So, we actually do celebrate Passover. I’m not quite sure about the history of the word Easter.
I believe the word Easter is a variant of Ishtar, a pagan fertility ritual. They forced women to conceive on their altar, next year the babies are 3 months old, killed for ritual. The blood from the dead babies was used to colour eggs. Again, a fertility issue. Rabbits have long been associated with fertility, as they reproduce rapidly. When the Gregorian calendar was put in use, they moved Passover celebration Christians were using, to now line up with Ishtar's annual day. As a Christian who loves the Lord Jesus Christ, my family celebrates the resurrection on the Passover. To celebrate Passover, I have to check on Google every year. *_God Bless_*
From what I understand, the word Easter was derived from a Germanic goddess Eostre whose day was celebrated around the time of the Spring Equinox. The word itself predates the Christian faith, so…probably a better idea to use Páscha (Passover).

I'm not Jewish but I cannot understand why gentile Christians call Sunday the sabbath when it's Saturday. Constantine changed it to Sunday because he worshiped the sun god! What really brothers me is why so many Christians invoke the name of a pagan god (easter) on the most important day of the year (Resurrection day). Paganism still embedded in the church!

Constantine never changed the Sabbath to Sunday. Jesus did that. Jesus broke the Sabbath and invalidated every time and the Jews sought to kill him because he broke it. What most people fail to realize is that not all Israelites are Jews and not all Jews are Israelites. There were 12 tribes stemming from the 12 sons of Jacob (Yisrael) that made up Yisra'el but they split into two houses. The southern part of Israel consisted of the tribes of Benjamin, Levi and Yehuda and that is where the Jews originated. They have kept the Torah but they have also added a lot of man made traditions. These people are commonly known as the lost tribes except God knows exactly where each and every one is and He is regathering them as we speak. And that is what is happening with the Messianic movement. People are waking up and coming back to their roots. The Torah. It's all about the restoration of Yisra'el, God's chosen people and that includes anyone who is a believer in Yeshua the Messiah. The moment you confess Yeshua as the Messiah and you are baptized in the name of Yeshua, symbolically it is as though you have died with Yeshua and resurrected a new man in Yeshua. Spiritually you are then seated in heavenly places. Your name is written in the Lamb's book of life. Your mind is renewed and you given a new circumsized heart. You become part of God's Kingdom, Yisra'el. You are grafted into the Olive tree. If we really tested ourselves like a Berean against Paul, then it is Christians that have to go back to the fundamentals of Judaism without the add traditions of "Our Fathers." Do Christians follow the feast days? Do they eat biblical clean animals according to Deuteronomy 14 and Leviticus 11? Do they do what Jesus Did, or do they presume what he will do? Do they keep the Sabbath as a mark according to Deuteronomy? Do they study like diligently or are they playing religion for a feel good' experience? These are some starting positions.

Randy W. You forgot one of the commandments. Remember the Sabbath day and keep it Holy. So you keep 9 and leave one out? Jesus and the apostles kept the Sabbath as well as the other feasts.
Earlier this year, I found myself jolted out of the mainstream almost instantaneously when an acquaintance posted on Facebook about following the food laws, the feasts, the biblical sabbath, and so forth. I of course did research and…one of the sites I found wasn’t even a Torah Observant site, but they advocated following Kosher and the actual sabbath. Even mainstream blogs I found later that advocated resting in our Messiah were facepalming at the idea of Sunday being considered the Sabbath when there is nowhere in scripture that says it changed. Afterwards, I found Just A Word, 119 Ministries, Scripture Truth Ministries, Anthony Buzzard and the Restoration Fellowship, TruthUnedited, and- even though I’m not a fan of them- the Armstrong-based Churches of God. They all agree on some things, disagree on others, but it’s enough for me to realize that Messianic Jews are probably much closer to living the truth than I was a year ago.
What’s the right thing to do as Christians should we align our beliefs in the Bible or should the Bible align into our beliefs. Sabbath is so Biblical no matter how you toss and turn the Bible you cant find Sunday as the Lords day. Sunday is for the sun god worshipers.

Galatians 3:19 "Why then was the law given? Jesus taught that we are ALL sons and daughters of god, yet of the flesh. He set himself (his relationship with God) as an example for attaining Enlightened Relationship with our own inherent divinity and our creator in heaven. About the sabbath. Show me where there worshipped on sat in the beginning? It says God worked 6 days and I'll n the 7th he rested. So any 7th day. Not a specific 7th day. Surprisingly enough, as a Greek Orthodox Christian, I can attest that Easter is not found within the religious vocabulary. We use the word Πάσχα which actually means Passover in Greek. So, we actually do celebrate Passover. I’m not quite sure about the history of the word Easter.
You’ll find this in a lot of Orthodox countries. Hopefully not too many people get confused!
I believe the word Easter is a variant of Ishtar, a pagan fertility ritual. They forced women to conceive on their altar, next year the babies are 3 months old, killed for ritual. The blood from the dead babies was used to colour eggs. Again, a fertility issue. Rabbits have long been associated with fertility, as they reproduce rapidly.
When the Gregorian calendar was put in use, they moved Passover celebration Christians were using, to now line up with Ishtar's annual day.
As a Christian who loves the Lord Jesus Christ, my family celebrates the resurrection on the Passover.

From what I understand, the word Easter was derived from a Germanic goddess Eostre whose day was celebrated around the time of the Spring Equinox. The word itself predates the Christian faith, so…probably a better idea to use Páscha (Passover).

I'm not Jewish but I cannot understand why gentile Christians call Sunday the sabbath when it's Saturday. Constantine changed it to Sunday because he worshiped the sun god! Constantine never changed the Sabbath to Sunday. Jesus did that. Jesus broke the Sabbath and invalidated every time and the Jews sought to kill him because he broke it. What most people fail to realize is that not all Israelites are Jews and not all Jews are Israelites. There were 12 tribes stemming from the 12 sons of Jacob (Yisrael) that made up Yisra'el but they split into two houses. The southern part of Israel consisted of the tribes of Benjamin, Levi and Yehuda and that is where the Jews originated. They have kept the Torah but they have also added a lot of man made traditions. Earlier this year, I found myself jolted out of the mainstream almost instantaneously when an acquaintance posted on Facebook about following the food laws, the feasts, the biblical sabbath, and so forth. I of course did research and…one of the sites I found wasn’t even a Torah Observant site, but they advocated following Kosher and the actual sabbath. Even mainstream blogs I found later that advocated resting in our Messiah were facepalming at the idea of Sunday being considered the Sabbath when there is nowhere in scripture that says it changed. Afterwards, I found Just A Word, 119 Ministries, Scripture Truth Ministries, Anthony Buzzard and the Restoration Fellowship, TruthUnedited, and- even though I’m not a fan of them- the Armstrong-based Churches of God. They all agree on some things, disagree on others, but it’s enough for me to realize that Messianic Jews are probably much closer to living the truth than I was a year ago.

I used to assume the worst in people… but then i wanted people to assume the best in me. made a lot of people upset projecting out their motivations.. when i found each group there were a plethora and range of individuals who typicallt believed they always had best of intension but hindsight maybe saw it differently through their eyes..

Jesus taught that we are ALL sons and daughters of god, yet of the flesh. He set himself (his relationship with God) as an example for attaining Enlightened Relationship with our own inherent divinity and our creator in heaven. Many Evangelical Christians and Messianic Jews and Muslims see and worship Jesus as GOD, and that is FALSE, for it omits his place among us as our sibling (an Elder Brother, the first born OF the Enlightened). Enlightenment cannot be forced, coerced, nor given... it must be VOLUNTARILY ACCEPTED, challenged, and cultivated, as one would grow a garden or any other relationship of VALUE... PURE LOVE may only be earned through Honest Exchanges and Moral Actions. To force, coerce, or take merely at face value is FALSE... and absent of meaning.

Those who Choose to stray from a Moral Life deserve no admonition, judgement, nor hate... simply ask them to rethink their choices, but leave them to "bottom out" in their own darkness while protecting yourselves (and others) from their actions. In the process of creating their own Moral Death they will reach their "limit" and VOLUNTARILY turn back toward Life, by honestly making amends to themselves, then their family and peers, by HONESTLY seeking ONLY the help they require. Or they will perish of their own accord.
For some this is inevitable (as god makes no mistakes, and our imperfections are many). It is CRUEL to prolong such suffering, that only they or their creator may truly end. At some point we must choose ourselves over the lives of those we hope to save (though the attempt remains noble). To do otherwise is an affront to our own divinity, and the gifts we may bear others.
Martyrdom is ONLY acceptable when UNAVOIDABLE, due to external forces beyond one's control. Your life to save another (or the many)... but never to take a life... except as immediate need and Rightful Defense of self or others WARRANTS one to Kill... NEVER to Murder.
No one can stop the truly desperate from striving toward their goals. All we can do is hasten, delay, or stop their ACTIONS... to prevent the harm they may do to themselves and others.
Back to Capitalism... All forms of one-sided gain and immoral trade share the commonality of INVOLUNTARY participation by others through force, coercion, lies, or other manipulations. They are also the Irreversible Acts better known as the Commandments, just as our Sins are the (mental and spiritual) motivating forces behind them. Murder, rape, usury, profiteering, theft, perjury, bearing false witness, adultery, gluttony, etc. are all evil... because they harm US as we harm OTHERS.

About the sabbath. Show me where there worshipped on sat in the beginning? It says God worked 6 days and I'll n the 7th he rested. So any 7th day. Not a specific 7th day.
