- The USL is going to vote on whether or not to design a structure for a 3-tier system involving promotion and relegation. This has the potential to be a conduit for major change in the US Soccer landscape. It could also just, not happen.

A major concern about minimum standards specifically for stadiums being at 15,000 is that it makes it more difficult for clubs in smaller towns, or markets, is that 5k wouldn’t create enough revenue for a club to compete at the division 1 level. But if Pro/Rel is successful and draws more broadcasting revenue then perhaps smaller clubs could receive enough to compete and rely less on their stadium revenue. Maybe then the stadium requirements could be relaxed.
I think Pro/Rel is a great idea but in order for it to work I think teams need to connect with their communities and pull in some casual fans while working with local businesses for sponsorship.
That's an absolutely crucial point. These teams can't survive only due to a wealthy benefactor.
I wonder if the announcement for Pro/Rel will pique the interest of some NISA and other clubs playing in semi pro status who want to make the jump to Pro. I’m surprised the USL contacts mentioned creating a 3rd tier when League One only has 12 teams right now. They may have enough confidence that they can populate a third tier quickly enough to meet the minimum requirements and kick off without a hiccup.
Both points (stadium capacity and the structure of the leagues). There are so many questions about how this could work, but there is no doubt room to explore and hopefully shake up the landscape so that, as you said, other leagues' interest is piqued to join the USL in some way. That's why I want to see this happen.
Meritocracy is needed.
